I have a 2013 with 56,000 miles on it. First year model. I have never understood the complaints about the vibration. It doesn't exist, except at 60-62 mph and even then it's just a slight roughness, nothing bothersome. Above or below that there is none. I run it 80-85 mph for 600+ miles in a day and vibration has never entered my mind. The single disc front brake is plenty. Duals are asking for trouble in my opinion, but to each their own.
I agree with you I have a CB500F 2015 model. I replaced both front and rear single disc pads with Ferodo RR rated pads. The difference is marked and no need for double front discs imho. I could recommend a number of improvements but watching the video mirror extenders are really useful as I could see the rider has a mirror full of elbow. 15 or 16 tooth front sprocket ?
I think vibrations is something extremely subjective. I used to suffer from the vibrations I felt when I bought my 2019 CB 500 X. I got so used to them that today I don't even notice any. (Except over 6000 rpm). So what are objective vibrations? We would have to measure them with some device and compare the results - within the same model - and compare different bikes using the same method.
@@romanryuninvalek487 Well, my father has been riding since 1961, and he's been on my 500X. His answer is basically that nobody knows what they're talking about regarding vibration unless they've ridden a Triumph 650 from back in the day. 😄🤪
@@ronvaughan8041 I started seven years after your dad with a CB-350 and took it on a 2,000 mile trip, no problems. I later had a BSA 650, your dad is correct. Headlight bulbs didn't last long.
Looks like Honda have improved this bike a lot. I also recognise those roads around Albufiera having ridden them on a scooter in 2019 - we are going back again in October for a week. Great review as usual. Thanks Steve
Great review. I bought a 2022 500x as a 2nd bike to my Hypermotard 1100. Only have about 100 miles on it so far but I love it. Perfect for the B roads and dirt roads here in Upstate NY. The great thing about smaller bikes is that you can ride them hard without breaking every law.
I have this model and have just returned from a return trip UK to Barcelona via the Pyrenees left to right and back. I couldn't fault it for the money. On and off road on Honda fit tyres. I rang it's neck for 5 to 7 hours a day in the Pyrenees and only filled up once a day. Single finger front brake and clutch. It's not the fastest in a straight line and the suspension was a bit soft in river beds. I just rode accordingly. My companion was on a GS1200 and he didn't have to wait for me. He was grounding out on road the CBX didn't. Great fun for a cheap bike. Nice realtime reviews keep it up.
I also suffered a lot from vibrations on my 2016 CB500X; when I went to a Honda dealer for a service, I asked them If a raised steering bar with rubber dampeners would help, but the guys acted as if I was seeing ghosts. When I installed some lever guards with rubber mounts, surprisingly made it good on my hands. I had a 400km trip in the summer and all I could complain of, after a few hours on the saddle, was my bum, so in the final stint, I had to keep switching positions in the saddle to ease it.
Yes, the factory seat is junk. Merely something to get it out the door. Took me a week to recover from a 200 mile ride. Bought a Corbin and it solved it, once it was broken in. 5300 miles in 11 days, no problem.
Glad you re visited the CB500X in it’s new 2022. I remember first seeing your videos when you had a 2019 model. I had one too. I think they are great bikes and cheap to run (UK road tax and insurance is cheaper and MPG is excellent). I’d consider another one too especially this 2022 when I become an occasional solo rider. Great for UK West Country lanes. Happy New Year to you and other viewers.

Years ago, I owned a 2014 CB500X, with lots of mods.........and I was a daily visitor to the CB500X Forum. When I suggested installing the front forks + front wheel + dual calipers from the CB650F, I was ridiculed and laughed at with members saying "why do you need more braking power, it stops just fine with the OEM single disc". I still miss that little bike........may own another one (2022 or newer) someday.
My 2019 is quite acceptable. Sure, I would like the dual rotors, better shocks and the new color, but I don’t feel any unusual vibration at hi, or low, speeds. And the handling does fine as well. My biggest problems were the stock seat and wimpy windscreen, which caused some annoying buffering, but I solved both those issues with aftermarket swapouts.
If you would like better shocks, just buy them and install them.. Or have some mechanic shop install them. I mean c'mon, its an adv bike. Youre supposed to upgrade it to your preferences/needs. You can also get whatever color/paint scheme/decals/vinyls you want. Just buy and have them installed/painted.
I was thinking of buying the CB500X as a second bike to tootle around on in the winter months back here in Blighty, so thank you for this review. We were only touring the Algarve last month in a Campervan and visited the exact beach where you parked the bike up...you are very lucky living in such a beautiful area. Keep up the good work!
Hi, axial mount brakes are usually used on Adv bikes whereas radial brakes are used on street bikes due firmer initial bite provided by the solid calipers. In practice, it makes sense since you can use the 500x on dirty and gravel roads too. Take a look at Africa twin. After a few research, found out the floating caliper design suits more the off road/adv than fixed mounted one. I have a 500x 2016 version, and after I upgrade the front pads to ebc hh, houses to steel lined ones and motul 5.1 brake fluid, I can assure you my brake is a monster compared to stock. For fork diving, it's to do with simple cartridge design, the standard front forks are basic, you can feel that diving on cheaper bikes as well, specially on hard front braking. To stiffen it, you can add 20ml of oil each side, I'm a heavy guy, I use extra 15ml on each side (450ml standard).
Looks a worthy replacement. As a 2020 model owner I'm not sure I see enough to upgrade though. The forks/brakes are certainly an upgrade but given its not a sports bike I see no issue with my older set up and I feel it handles fine. Interestingly I have none of the vibrations you mentioned on your 2019 model - you did say you have crash bars and I have heard that these can often be the cause. Given that these are after market then hardly Honda's fault. Overall a much better bike but if I was going to upgrade it would probably be for more power so I think I'll stick with my 202 for now.
Yeah, it could well have been the crash bars, I'll never know now. The 2022 is a good proposition for me, as I sold my 2019 2 years ago and would quite like another one, now that it has been substantially improved, but I agree that swapping a 2020 for this new model makes less sense. @@RocketMan_Moto these engines have a natural resonance between about 5200-6000rpm, which in top gear equates to around 110kph (65-70mph) - which is what I'm sure you were noticing. Had you changed down a gear or ridden a bit faster it would have subsided, but unfortunately it does correspond to a lot of riders' typical cruising speed in top gear. It also does not help to have 'crash bars' which pick up on the forward engine mounts fitted to these bikes (as Phil suggests above), as that natural resonance is amplified and transmitted all around the bike.
Huh. Life is funny. I just uploaded my review of the 2022 model and, as an owner of the 2021 version, my impressions were the exact opposite! Still, good to hear your take on it, and notice how we value different aspects of the same thing.
Both reviews put different weights on the improvements. I suppose it depends on the cost of the upgrades. We are being shafted in Ireland with a 400 euro hike but I am still happy to cough up the extra. Should future proof it. Happy new year...
@@RocketMan_Moto kinda. For cars were right up there with Scandinavia. Bikes not so much. I just bought a 2021 GoldWing- from Netherlands. Didn't actually save anything, but the waiting list here for a new one was 9+ months
I'm glad you liked the new model. I bought mine a little over a month ago here in Spain. I really wanted the "Organic Pearl Green" colour (like in your video) but I was told it won't be available until end of January, so I just got the black one instead. The black one actually looks better in person than I expected. I'm just about to take it for the first service at 1000Km. So far I couldn't be happier, well worth the wait (I took the 2021 model for a test ride in November and then waited for a month for the 2022 model to be officially released in Spain). Only negative is the wind protector screen... it's there only for looks if you ask me. I have it on the highest of the 2 possible positions and the buffeting is pretty bad. I do get vibrations but only on the handlebars and only when I hit about 5200 RPM at about 102-103 Km/h. As soon as I go over that particular speed and RPM the vibrations go away so it doesn't bother me at all. Fuel economy for the 1000Km I've done so far averages at 3.4l/100Km. Oh, and the stock exhaust actually sounds better than I though and I do get pops which make me smile.
Great to hear you're enjoying your bike. I'm seriously considering getting one (again), because the latest improvements have made it a genuinely great bike :)
Hello from Greece probably next week i take mine i prefer green colour and i am so happy because at the older model we have some issues with vibrations as you tell the new model is much better at this point some vibrations at 5200 rpm i think it's not a reason not to buy this motorcycle drive safe 😁
I have the 2019 model year it's a great bike & I really like it. I'm sure you could throw a set of ebcvbrake pads on their along with a Moore Mafia ECU tune to clean up the fueling issues... I just have the bike all customized now so I don't want to go get a new one. I only ride 3-5,000 miles per year so I can deal with it not being as good as the new one lol. I ride with guys that have Harley Davidson & I stay up with them no problem! 16 🦷 front ⚙️ helps drop RPMs
Thank you for mentioning the earlier model high rev bike vibrations and low speed throttle jerkiness. I was thinking I was crazy for noting these things. The 2022 is mean and green looking 😎👍.
Nice to see another independent initial ride review on the 2022 CB500X. Curiously, Honda has not even announced the 2022 CB500X in the U.S. The American Honda web site still just shows the 2021 model. I think Honda did a great job with the revisions and upgrades on the 2022.
They have actually, several weeks ago even if the website doesn't reflect it. I already have a deposit on a green one like in this vid. Delivery date end of Feb, 1st part of Mar.
I had use of a Trans Alp 600/650 (?)cc back in the early 2000s. The bike was perfect for getting around town. I used to call it the 'Urban Motocrosser'
I have 2020 model. Adding Rally Raid skid plate and fork upgrade changed completely this bike. I put a lot of miles on and off-road and I can say that this bike is amazing. I am curious to try 2022 model but am quite sure it will not be better than my 2020.
Had a 13 model for just shy of 8 years and 46,000 klms. Nil vibrations that you have mentioned a few times now. Why, because no unnecessary engine guards were fitted. Simple as that. Ran smooth and sweet at all revs. New model does look and feel at lot better than earlier models but not able to get a ride on one yet.
After having a 2018 CB500X for a year or so, I’ve just ordered the new 2022 model. I decided to keep my Versys 650, and sell my Tiger 800 for the new Honda. Advancing age, and the need for a smaller more practical bike influenced my decision. I’ve always liked the 500X, and with the latest improvements it should be an excellent general purpose bike.

I considered the CB500X last year when buying a new bike but as you said the sweet spot would be with a 650cc engine. I came to the same conclusion and went with the VStrom 650XT which has everything I wanted and needed.

I had a '16 model with the 17" front. Great bike for what it was & comfort was excellent. Waiting to see if/when the Transalp appears, expect it will be too heavy & high seat, but may have a 19' version. The Aprilla Tuareg 660 looks the goods IF reliable, but may settle for the '22 500x as a second bike.
Exactly - the 500X isn't perfect and is a bit lacking in power for a main bike, but as a second bike it's a viable proposition. Only the imminent arrival of the Tiger 660 is making me hesitate. Feliz novo ano :)
I am with 2020 model. Put some RR upgrades and I can say this bike can take me any place. It is not the fastest but I am really happy with it ( I talked about my CB500X love in my review). Aprilia Tuareg looks amazing but it is not Honda 😀. I wish to see Transalp
Just got a 2021. Perfect for Crete where I rarely do over 60mph. Too slow for uk (where I have a tracer 700). Strange roughness at 5250 revs but ok. Seat is hard but I found it comfortable on a 6 hr ride. Just need to stop every 1.5 hrs for 10 mins. Suspension ok on the mountain roads & tracks i ride. Jerky throttle, a bit, but try riding big singles! V nice clutch, gearshift & the engine sounds good to me. I lowered mine about 1.5 inches & it feels surprisingly better on the road (& I'm far less likely to topple off it!).
While I agree with many commenters about the need for a middleweight Transalp, I don't think it's fair to expect the 500X to fulfill that role. If it grew to 70hp, it'd probably be 600-700cc, a bit heavier, considerably more expensive to buy, insure, and run... it would be a different bike (hopefully Honda fills the gap soon). For what it's trying to be, a very good bike that costs very little to run, is incredibly reliable and fuel efficient, and can be used for just about anything by anyone, it's not a bad overall package. Probably not the money-no-object bike of choice but for many of us, it's a very affordable way to have a ton of fun getting around and exploring on two wheels.
I agree completely, but we're always looking for 'slightly better'. The CB500X is an affordable 'little' workhorse and I applaud Honda for making it. As I said in the video, I am tempted to buy one of these 2022 models.

I'll always have a CB500X in the garage. 350 mile fuel range and 8K mile service intervals. Valves were fine at 16K miles. The right air pressure with well balanced Michelin Road 5's will eliminate the vibration and give you all the flickability you can handle. Plenty of power on the top end, 90 mph in fourth is no problem. I added a tooth to the front sprocket which really improved the performance and made the speedometer accurate. The Rally Raid conversion riders will give you a fair price instead of trading it in. Always interesting, thanks!
@@RocketMan_Moto i am a mechanic and never heard of tyres stopping me hanical vibration only suspension or wheel vibration. But if it works why not..sure wish i could afford speed twin. Test rode kwacker z900rs back to back but only one winner. Just watched your review of bikes you might buy. If you are of a certain age, that speed twin is incredible way it makes you feel. Wish they would give it thruxton suspension😂
@@volt8684 Yes. Reducing the tire pressure from the recommended 36/42 to 34/38 helped a lot. No more tread cupping and the front tire wears in the middle instead of the left side.
Really nice review, thanks. This looks like a really good package if you can hold of one. I visited my local Honda dealer here in the U.K. and their showroom was almost empty of bikes. The sales chap did say that supply was starting to catch up with demand but there’d still be a lengthy wait for many models.
I think the market is opening up a bit and sales are dropping so in the coming months I think the availability will come right..... But I might be wrong 😁.. I remember being wrong about something around 1998.😉😂😂
I was thinking of a 2019 cb500x but saw your review and declined. But now I'll revisit. Would you prefer it to the new Transalp given the substantial price difference?
Well, I did actually order a new CB500X last November, but when I saw the Transalp I cancelled the 500X and ordered the Transalp instead (for more power). The price difference here in Portugal is €3,000, but I think it's worth it. The 2022+ 500X is a great bike, and I think it's worth spending that bit more to get the better forks and twin brake discs :)
What a great informative review. Thank you! I want a bike that does well on secondary roads and green lanes with a bit of mild off road. That's a bit more off road than the CB500X market niche. I'm glad to see the much needed CB500X improvements for 2022 even though it's not quite the bike for me. The very exposed exhaust directly behind the front wheel is a disqualifying feature for me. I'm eagerly awaiting the new TransAlp, but I'd bet it'll be a 700-850 cc version of the Africa Twin. What I'd love to see would be a serious ADV bike that was more of an Africa Single - a 400 cc to 650 cc single cylinder ADV bike with a huge fuel tank and large rear rack, aluminum bash plate, maybe some integral crash bars, but keep it light and simple. ABS but not a lot of complicated riding modes. Enough power to comfortably cruise on the highway if needed but lighter so it's easier to ride off road. I want a Less Is More version of the Africa Twin, but Honda is almost certainly going to bring back the TransAlp in a form designed as a me-too version of the Yamaha Tenere 700.
@@Moleskineman - A good friend has a KLR650. I like the 2022, now that it finally has fuel injection. I love the large fuel tank and the good low end torque that tractors slowly off road. KLR reliability is good too, but they should have integrated the doohickey and thermobob after market improvements. I like ultralight camping and even though I'm a big guy, I still prefer my G310GS, although the KLR is better on the highway. I don't ride on highways very often, so I prefer a lighter more nimble bike.
@@Liberty4Ever Nice! I've also been looking at a G310GS. I've also been tempted by the Zontes T310 which looks pretty incredible for the price, but I'm pretty tall too, so looked a bit silly on it. The G310 is a lot more substantial. I'm still leaning towards the CB500X though, for now.
I have a new 2022 cb500x, I have so far only done 450 miles. This bike is cheap to run and I get about 220 miles per tank which are good after my last bike. My main problem with this bike is one the side stand, I have to lift the foot peg up to get to it which is annoying, second is the rear brake, yes the fronts are good but the back is crap, I use the front to slow down then apply the rear to come to a halt but the rear brake is so bad I have to apply the front again. Third, the windscreen gives loads of buffering so I added a small screen on top which has helped a great deal. Time will tell with this bike still running her in.
Interesting - I had a CB500X 2017, and on THAT bike, the vibrations were totally absent. NONE - almost like an electric scooter ! Then the 2019 came, and people started noticing those. Well, at least ONE affordable motorbike Honda has made good - the CB500X 2022 😃😃👍👍
I commented yesterday on your post about the Transalp, I am currently between two fires. I don’t have that much experience in bike riding, but I want to buy something like this CB500X or the Transalp. I could start with the 500 but I only want to buy once. Do you recommend buying the Transalp from the start as I want to ride asphalt and dirt?
If you can stretch to the Transalp, then absolutely go for that. The CB500X is a great beginner’s bike, but it runs out of breath quickly and can be vibey. The Transalp isn’t that much taller/bigger and will keep you entertained much longer.
Look forward to your take on the Triumph Tiger Sport 660. I love everything about the 2022 CB500X except the instrument cluster. To me it is just not acceptable. The one on the Sport 660 is miles ahead. With the information centered and concentric, one glance and you can take in everything you need to know. On the Honda, with everything all spread out left to right, circle and squares, with all the lights way to the right, I would be searching for what I want constantly. And if it is hard to read outdoors as well that makes it a deal killer. A shame. It is a beautiful bike other than those instruments. Your reviews are my favorites. Keep it up..
tiger is a lot more expensive, at least in UK. I don't think that triumph has anything to compete with cb500x. for the tiger price you can get cb500x, add panniers, top box, heated grips and plenty of other accessories and still has some money left
It's very pretty (and warm, of course), but the road surfaces can have nasty bumps and holes in them and car drivers can sometimes be a bit 'distracted' :)
I like my Honda 2022, ride it for two weeks now, the only issue I have is the seat, after half an hour my bottom starts to hurt like mad. I have measured the angel of the seat and the driver part of the seat has an angle of at least seven percent! Come on Honda, it is so easy to produce a comfy seat by making the seat angel level. Probably it is hard to find a real ergonomic engineer, so sorry to feel the seat spoils the fun with the bike. I will try to find a solution! For the rest I have no complaints, first fuel consumption 28,3 km/l, the second stop for fuel resulted in 31,0 km/l. NOT BAD! The steering feels like a supermoto bike, from my point of vieuw the nicest bike ever ridden! But as I said, first I have to solve the issue with the seat!
@@RocketMan_Moto I am very sensitive for all kinds of issues with ergonomic parts of bicycles, cars, road rollers. I had it from that I was a child. But if you look at the angel of the seat it is very clear that the body tends to slide in a forward direction, try to ride a hill with a seven percent slope on an bicycle, I bet after 5 minutes you will hate the slope and you will become very tired. But if I ride with my bike the sliding force causes a real strong tension on my skin and that starts to hurt. I had a Kawasaki KLE 500 a couple of years before, I changed the shape of the seat and made it level, before this modification I could make a trip for about an hour and than the fun was over. After the modification I could ride at least three hours with no problems at all! I know ergonomic is a very personal taste, but I am sure a seat with a level position benefits everybody! It is not a particular Honda issue, especially Kawasaki's suffer this problem, and a lot of other motorbikes! Here a comment about the seat in another review: Honda CB500X long term review: mods, known issues and what we like! At 6.18 they talk about the seat is too hard, but I know it is not because of the seat filling, but because of the angle of the seat, so I am not the only one with a complaint about hte seat.
I've got a 2014 CB500X I bought new, and I've had the same issues with the seat comfort as you state for your 2022. Thirty minutes of riding and I'm ready to get off the bike. About the only thing to do is try an inflatable seat pad, or more expensive a replacement aftermarket seat.
You appear to be living the way I would like to be living... I could do what you're doing right here in SW Washington, but the bike riding conditions here, certainly, are not the same. So it's this gal and/or the 300 Rally that are getting my attention when it comes to what to ride next (?)... pretty much. At not quite 100 years old... I'm thinkin' - with a sweet heart near Battle Ground WA there'd be places to have fun around town and others not far away good for poppin' the clutch and gettin' it on... but honestly, I'm sure I'd be plenty satisfied just tooling around the region with an easy rider, it would be more practical to go for what seems like a nice all around lightweight... maybe she'll say - hey!!! (think I'll visit the library and enjoy lunch across the plaza while I'm there, tomorrow) Happy Trails, thanks for sharing, gracias
Lol, thanks for that :) Life here is pretty good, or at least it would be if we didn't have to deal with this pandemic (like everyone else). We can ride pretty much all year round normally, and the 500X makes a great little all-rounder. Ride safe :)
The look reminds me ever so much of the 2004 Suzuki Vstrom 650 I bought new, rode for 87,000+ miles in less than 5 years and sold thinking I could get another. I should have kept it.
Silly question since I know it's not your bike and you were just borrowing it from a friend, but did you turn the LCD screen brightness all the way up? I didn't realize it was adjustable until I read the manual and now I have no problems seeing it in very very sunny Colorado. Maybe that would've done it?

hi buddy.. I need ur specific opinion on just two aspects. which one has a more plush suspension ride over bad broken tarmac or pavement blocks. Honda 500x Vs tiger 660. AND WHICH of the 2 has better weight distribution for slow curve city rides. other aspects like engine power etc is not relevant for this NARROW RANGE comparison.

I will most probably rule in favor of the Honda because the plushness is more important for the terrible tarmac in my region. the rest one can probably learn to manage with some training and practice. But absolutely no one can learn to tolerate ass / spine / back jerking terrible roads

I recently learnt that the Honda highness was developed to compete and eat into the royal Enfield classic and Meteor models have u ever had the opportunity of riding the under powered Highness ?
Nice balanced review. I had a 2017 CB500X for 2 years and did 23,000 kms on it in that time. I replaced the seat with a Corbin. I loved that bike. When Honda updated the Africa Twin I couldn't resist and have #6 in North America of the 2020 AT AS DCT ES. If I was only doing commuting I would have kept the CB500X and probably traded it for the new one now. At this price point you aren't going to get a TFT dash and fancy electronic suspension. Now that I have my AT AS I'm not downgrading. :) My point being that for what it is the CB500X was a great bike for me. If I had the room I would have kept mine but with the trips I do (2500 - 3500 km week long) I needed a bigger bike. On my 2017 some more aggressive tires, protection, Corbin seat and panniers rounded my bike out nicely. The recent improvements would just make it that much better imo.
How do you rate the Corbin seat, is it much better? If I look at the shape of the seat it still has a wrong seat angle, it should be level, and still it is not level!
Seems that ADV craze went into more sensible middle weight category. Yamaha T7 shows that next few years will be fought over this market niche. Someone at Honda made a wise choice to upgrade their contestant, as even people with an unlimited budget will start looking at this segment instead of unnecessarily powerful and heavy >1000cc
This is a hot take but here it goes, they’ve been making this bike since the 80s the ascot 500 was this things daddy and would be an awesome bike to compare this to side by side
Great review, well done. I'm pretty excited about this bike and it checks all the boxes. At this point though, not positive it will make it to the U.S.. If it does and is available in the green color, I'll more than likely make a purchase.
My wife rides a 2018 model. As much as the 2022 looks sharper as well as a few upgrades such as the dual disc and inverted forks, she chose the 2018 due to the 17” front. Her inseam is only 29” (73 cm for you metric folks). The 19” front would inhibit a level of comfort when stopping. We actually took the seat to get shaved down some and used an adjustable link to drop the rear an inch. The conventional forks have been upgraded with straight rate springs and cartridge emulators. A custom shock is also being built by Cogent Dynamics. She has 2 other bikes more suited for trail riding.. this one will be her light off road adv bike… goes well with my Africa Twin too. My first experience on the CB500X was a 2016 Model. It was love at first ride. Sadly, the dealer and I could not come to terms, so I had to let it go by. In Summer of 2021, I WAS able to secure a 2018 Model. I'm in total agreement with you about the Front Brake. Safe, but nothing to write home about. I ALSO put Michelins on it, and it made a HUGE improvement in overall ride. I put a luggage Rack on it, and am hoping to put a taller & slightly Wider Windscreen on it-In my Opinion, Honda REALLY dropped the Ball there! The Clock on the 2018 is easier to read than on the newer units, but I STILL don't like it. With everything that's happening in the World right now, I am NOT inclined to part with what money I do have. That being said, if my lot SHOULD improve substantially, I WILL take a hard look at trading my 2028 in for a 2022-But Honda HAS to do something about that CRAPPY instrument Panel!

The Honda gets better and better. Never ridden one but maybe its time i placed an order. Its either the Honda or the Enfield 650... Gosh you are a little hard with the scoring but at least it is consistent.
Overall great review! Appears that Honda has addressed most of the much needed improvements. For me, if I were in the market for this type of machine, I would prefer a 700-750 cc and definitely an improved clock design. The new color scheme is very good. I could definitely live with that. Trust me. You do not want those 700cc and above on other brands. The fuel consumption and the heat generated are not going to be pleasant in many ways.
Bring back the 305 scrambler with electronic ignition, disk brakes and a 5 or 6 speed trans. NO electronic gauges! That bike was the most fun bike I ever rode in my 55yrs of bike riding.
I have a 23 version of this and they must have changed the clarity and brightness of the screen. I have never not been able to see it very clearly…makes me wonder if they changed it for 2023.

I probably wouldn't take the CB500X as a main bike - not really powerful enough - but as a second bike, it's great. The AT is too big for me. I'm 6'1", but prefer smaller bikes :)
Yes we don't really have anything between 125cc (for beginners with no bike licence) and 400-500cc bikes. My wife is Brazilian and is returning to Recife tomorrow for a week to see family :)
Interesting vid. It is very important 2 get a bike that fits u well. If I remember correctly, u r a big & tall guy. There is no stock 500cc bike with enough hp, torque, braking, spring stiffness, and frame size that will support your size properly without mods. The best this bike can do 4 someone your size is teaching u how 2 ride. For your size, have u looked at litres plus (bigger frames) advs? Anyway, ride safe, god bless u.

390 adventure vs cb500x. 390 adventure costs 3.8 lac inr while the cb500x costs 80 percent more than the 390. Do you think its worth spending this much more on the Honda?
I have a 2013 first gen one and have now done approx 80,000 miles on it and respectfully disagree with just about every negative comment that you made about the older gen models. It has been 100% faultless. No issues at all. None. Nothing Change the oil and carry on. One of the smoothest twins I have ever ridden, and the totally stock suspension is better than its price or specs would suggest. And more than enough real world power from a fun eager revvy engine. And literally nothing about it all feels "cheap".

I have a 2013 with 56,000 miles on it. First year model. I have never understood the complaints about the vibration. It doesn't exist, except at 60-62 mph and even then it's just a slight roughness, nothing bothersome. Above or below that there is none. I run it 80-85 mph for 600+ miles in a day and vibration has never entered my mind. The single disc front brake is plenty. Duals are asking for trouble in my opinion, but to each their own.
I believe the vibration issue was on later bikes. Can't have too much braking, imho. Ride safe :)
I agree with you I have a CB500F 2015 model. I replaced both front and rear single disc pads with Ferodo RR rated pads. The difference is marked and no need for double front discs imho. I could recommend a number of improvements but watching the video mirror extenders are really useful as I could see the rider has a mirror full of elbow. 15 or 16 tooth front sprocket ?
I think vibrations is something extremely subjective. I used to suffer from the vibrations I felt when I bought my 2019 CB 500 X. I got so used to them that today I don't even notice any. (Except over 6000 rpm). So what are objective vibrations? We would have to measure them with some device and compare the results - within the same model - and compare different bikes using the same method.
@@romanryuninvalek487 Well, my father has been riding since 1961, and he's been on my 500X. His answer is basically that nobody knows what they're talking about regarding vibration unless they've ridden a Triumph 650 from back in the day. 😄🤪
@@ronvaughan8041 I started seven years after your dad with a CB-350 and took it on a 2,000 mile trip, no problems. I later had a BSA 650, your dad is correct. Headlight bulbs didn't last long.
Looks like Honda have improved this bike a lot. I also recognise those roads around Albufiera having ridden them on a scooter in 2019 - we are going back again in October for a week.

I have this model and have just returned from a return trip UK to Barcelona via the Pyrenees left to right and back. I couldn't fault it for the money. On and off road on Honda fit tyres. I rang it's neck for 5 to 7 hours a day in the Pyrenees and only filled up once a day. Single finger front brake and clutch. It's not the fastest in a straight line and the suspension was a bit soft in river beds. I just rode accordingly. My companion was on a GS1200 and he didn't have to wait for me. He was grounding out on road the CBX didn't. Great fun for a cheap bike. Nice realtime reviews keep it up.

I also suffered a lot from vibrations on my 2016 CB500X; when I went to a Honda dealer for a service, I asked them If a raised steering bar with rubber dampeners would help, but the guys acted as if I was seeing ghosts.
When I installed some lever guards with rubber mounts, surprisingly made it good on my hands. I had a 400km trip in the summer and all I could complain of, after a few hours on the saddle, was my bum, so in the final stint, I had to keep switching positions in the saddle to ease it.
Interesting. Maybe the extra weight on the bars made the difference?
Yes, the factory seat is junk. Merely something to get it out the door. Took me a week to recover from a 200 mile ride. Bought a Corbin and it solved it, once it was broken in. 5300 miles in 11 days, no problem.
They do make great seats, but not easy to source in Europe

Glad you re visited the CB500X in it’s new 2022. I remember first seeing your videos when you had a 2019 model. I had one too. I think they are great bikes and cheap to run (UK road tax and insurance is cheaper and MPG is excellent). I’d consider another one too especially this 2022 when I become an occasional solo rider. Years ago, I owned a 2014 CB500X, with lots of mods.........and I was a daily visitor to the CB500X Forum. When I suggested installing the front forks + front wheel + dual calipers from the CB650F, I was ridiculed and laughed at with members saying "why do you need more braking power, it stops just fine with the OEM single disc". I still miss that little bike........may own another one (2022 or newer) someday.
My 2019 is quite acceptable. Sure, I would like the dual rotors, better shocks and the new color, but I don’t feel any unusual vibration at hi, or low, speeds. And the handling does fine as well. My biggest problems were the stock seat and wimpy windscreen, which caused some annoying buffering, but I solved both those issues with aftermarket swapouts.
I hear you, although I think the new front forks are a big upgrade over the 2019s :)
If you would like better shocks, just buy them and install them.. Or have some mechanic shop install them. I mean c'mon, its an adv bike. Youre supposed to upgrade it to your preferences/needs. You can also get whatever color/paint scheme/decals/vinyls you want. Just buy and have them installed/painted.

We were only touring the Algarve last month in a Campervan and visited the exact beach where you parked the bike up...you are very lucky living in such a beautiful area. Keep up the good work!

Hi, axial mount brakes are usually used on Adv bikes whereas radial brakes are used on street bikes due firmer initial bite provided by the solid calipers. In practice, it makes sense since you can use the 500x on dirty and gravel roads too. Take a look at Africa twin. After a few research, found out the floating caliper design suits more the off road/adv than fixed mounted one. I have a 500x 2016 version, and after I upgrade the front pads to ebc hh, houses to steel lined ones and motul 5.1 brake fluid, I can assure you my brake is a monster compared to stock. For fork diving, it's to do with simple cartridge design, the standard front forks are basic, you can feel that diving on cheaper bikes as well, specially on hard front braking. To stiffen it, you can add 20ml of oil each side, I'm a heavy guy, I use extra 15ml on each side (450ml standard).

Looks a worthy replacement. As a 2020 model owner I'm not sure I see enough to upgrade though. The forks/brakes are certainly an upgrade but given its not a sports bike I see no issue with my older set up and I feel it handles fine. Interestingly I have none of the vibrations you mentioned on your 2019 model - you did say you have crash bars and I have heard that these can often be the cause. Given that these are after market then hardly Honda's fault. Overall a much better bike but if I was going to upgrade it would probably be for more power so I think I'll stick with my 202 for now.
Yeah, it could well have been the crash bars, I'll never know now. The 2022 is a good proposition for me, as I sold my 2019 2 years ago and would quite like another one, now that it has been substantially improved, but I agree that swapping a 2020 for this new model makes less sense. @@RocketMan_Moto these engines have a natural resonance between about 5200-6000rpm, which in top gear equates to around 110kph (65-70mph) - which is what I'm sure you were noticing. Had you changed down a gear or ridden a bit faster it would have subsided, but unfortunately it does correspond to a lot of riders' typical cruising speed in top gear.
It also does not help to have 'crash bars' which pick up on the forward engine mounts fitted to these bikes (as Phil suggests above), as that natural resonance is amplified and transmitted all around the bike.

Huh. Life is funny. I just uploaded my review of the 2022 model and, as an owner of the 2021 version, my impressions were the exact opposite! Still, good to hear your take on it, and notice how we value different aspects of the same thing.

I suppose it depends on the cost of the upgrades. We are being shafted in Ireland with a 400 euro hike but I am still happy to cough up the extra. Should future proof it.

I really wanted the "Organic Pearl Green" colour (like in your video) but I was told it won't be available until end of January, so I just got the black one instead. The black one actually looks better in person than I expected. I'm just about to take it for the first service at 1000Km.
So far I couldn't be happier, well worth the wait (I took the 2021 model for a test ride in November and then waited for a month for the 2022 model to be officially released in Spain).
Only negative is the wind protector screen... it's there only for looks if you ask me. I have it on the highest of the 2 possible positions and the buffeting is pretty bad.
I do get vibrations but only on the handlebars and only when I hit about 5200 RPM at about 102-103 Km/h. As soon as I go over that particular speed and RPM the vibrations go away so it doesn't bother me at all.
Fuel economy for the 1000Km I've done so far averages at 3.4l/100Km. Oh, and the stock exhaust actually sounds better than I though and I do get pops which make me smile.

Hello from Greece probably next week i take mine i prefer green colour and i am so happy because at the older model we have some issues with vibrations as you tell the new model is much better at this point some vibrations at 5200 rpm i think it's not a reason not to buy this motorcycle drive safe 😁

I have the 2019 model year it's a great bike & I really like it. I'm sure you could throw a set of ebcvbrake pads on their along with a Moore Mafia ECU tune to clean up the fueling issues... I just have the bike all customized now so I don't want to go get a new one. I only ride 3-5,000 miles per year so I can deal with it not being as good as the new one lol. I ride with guys that have Harley Davidson & I stay up with them no problem! 16 🦷 front ⚙️ helps drop RPMs

Nice to see another independent initial ride review on the 2022 CB500X. Curiously, Honda has not even announced the 2022 CB500X in the U.S. The American Honda web site still just shows the 2021 model. I think Honda did a great job with the revisions and upgrades on the 2022.

I had use of a Trans Alp 600/650 (?)cc back in the early 2000s. The bike was perfect for getting around town. I used to call it the 'Urban Motocrosser'
I have 2020 model. Adding Rally Raid skid plate and fork upgrade changed completely this bike. I put a lot of miles on and off-road and I can say that this bike is amazing. I am curious to try 2022 model but am quite sure it will not be better than my 2020.

Had a 13 model for just shy of 8 years and 46,000 klms. Nil vibrations that you have mentioned a few times now. Why, because no unnecessary engine guards were fitted. Simple as that. Ran smooth and sweet at all revs.
New model does look and feel at lot better than earlier models but not able to get a ride on one yet.
I dropped my CB500X twice, so to me the bars were necessary😊
After having a 2018 CB500X for a year or so, I’ve just ordered the new 2022 model. I decided to keep my Versys 650, and sell my Tiger 800 for the new Honda. Advancing age, and the need for a smaller more practical bike influenced my decision.
I’ve always liked the 500X, and with the latest improvements it should be an excellent general purpose bike.

I considered the CB500X last year when buying a new bike but as you said the sweet spot would be with a 650cc engine. I came to the same conclusion and went with the VStrom 650XT which has everything I wanted and needed.

I had a '16 model with the 17" front. Great bike for what it was & comfort was excellent. Waiting to see if/when the Transalp appears, expect it will be too heavy & high seat, but may have a 19' version. The Aprilla Tuareg 660 looks the goods IF reliable, but may settle for the '22 500x as a second bike.
Exactly - the 500X isn't perfect and is a bit lacking in power for a main bike, but as a second bike it's a viable proposition. Only the imminent arrival of the Tiger 660 is making me hesitate. Feliz novo ano :)

I am with 2020 model. Put some RR upgrades and I can say this bike can take me any place. It is not the fastest but I am really happy with it ( I talked about my CB500X love in my review). Aprilia Tuareg looks amazing but it is not Honda 😀. I wish to see Transalp
Just got a 2021. Perfect for Crete where I rarely do over 60mph. Too slow for uk (where I have a tracer 700). Strange roughness at 5250 revs but ok. Seat is hard but I found it comfortable on a 6 hr ride. Just need to stop every 1.5 hrs for 10 mins. Suspension ok on the mountain roads & tracks i ride. Jerky throttle, a bit, but try riding big singles!
V nice clutch, gearshift & the engine sounds good to me.
I lowered mine about 1.5 inches & it feels surprisingly better on the road (& I'm far less likely to topple off it!).

While I agree with many commenters about the need for a middleweight Transalp, I don't think it's fair to expect the 500X to fulfill that role. If it grew to 70hp, it'd probably be 600-700cc, a bit heavier, considerably more expensive to buy, insure, and run... it would be a different bike (hopefully Honda fills the gap soon).
For what it's trying to be, a very good bike that costs very little to run, is incredibly reliable and fuel efficient, and can be used for just about anything by anyone, it's not a bad overall package. Probably not the money-no-object bike of choice but for many of us, it's a very affordable way to have a ton of fun getting around and exploring on two wheels.
I agree completely, but we're always looking for 'slightly better'. The CB500X is an affordable 'little' workhorse and I applaud Honda for making it. As I said in the video, I am tempted to buy one of these 2022 models.

I'll always have a CB500X in the garage. 350 mile fuel range and 8K mile service intervals. Valves were fine at 16K miles. The right air pressure with well balanced Michelin Road 5's will eliminate the vibration and give you all the flickability you can handle. Plenty of power on the top end, 90 mph in fourth is no problem. I added a tooth to the front sprocket which really improved the performance and made the speedometer accurate. The Rally Raid conversion riders will give you a fair price instead of trading it in. Always interesting, thanks!

@@RocketMan_Moto i am a mechanic and never heard of tyres stopping me hanical vibration only suspension or wheel vibration. But if it works why not..sure wish i could afford speed twin. Test rode kwacker z900rs back to back but only one winner. Just watched your review of bikes you might buy. If you are of a certain age, that speed twin is incredible way it makes you feel. Wish they would give it thruxton suspension😂
@@volt8684 Yes. Reducing the tire pressure from the recommended 36/42 to 34/38 helped a lot. No more tread cupping and the front tire wears in the middle instead of the left side.

This looks like a really good package if you can hold of one. I visited my local Honda dealer here in the U.K. and their showroom was almost empty of bikes. The sales chap did say that supply was starting to catch up with demand but there’d still be a lengthy wait for many models.

I was thinking of a 2019 cb500x but saw your review and declined. But now I'll revisit. Would you prefer it to the new Transalp given the substantial price difference?
Well, I did actually order a new CB500X last November, but when I saw the Transalp I cancelled the 500X and ordered the Transalp instead (for more power). The price difference here in Portugal is €3,000, but I think it's worth it. The 2022+ 500X is a great bike, and I think it's worth spending that bit more to get the better forks and twin brake discs :)

I want a bike that does well on secondary roads and green lanes with a bit of mild off road. That's a bit more off road than the CB500X market niche. I'm glad to see the much needed CB500X improvements for 2022 even though it's not quite the bike for me. The very exposed exhaust directly behind the front wheel is a disqualifying feature for me.
I'm eagerly awaiting the new TransAlp, but I'd bet it'll be a 700-850 cc version of the Africa Twin. What I'd love to see would be a serious ADV bike that was more of an Africa Single - a 400 cc to 650 cc single cylinder ADV bike with a huge fuel tank and large rear rack, aluminum bash plate, maybe some integral crash bars, but keep it light and simple. ABS but not a lot of complicated riding modes. Enough power to comfortably cruise on the highway if needed but lighter so it's easier to ride off road. I want a Less Is More version of the Africa Twin, but Honda is almost certainly going to bring back the TransAlp in a form designed as a me-too version of the Yamaha Tenere 700.

@@Moleskineman - A good friend has a KLR650. I like the 2022, now that it finally has fuel injection. I love the large fuel tank and the good low end torque that tractors slowly off road. KLR reliability is good too, but they should have integrated the doohickey and thermobob after market improvements. I like ultralight camping and even though I'm a big guy, I still prefer my G310GS, although the KLR is better on the highway. I don't ride on highways very often, so I prefer a lighter more nimble bike.
@@Liberty4Ever Nice! I've also been looking at a G310GS. I've also been tempted by the Zontes T310 which looks pretty incredible for the price, but I'm pretty tall too, so looked a bit silly on it. The G310 is a lot more substantial. I'm still leaning towards the CB500X though, for now.

I have a new 2022 cb500x, I have so far only done 450 miles. This bike is cheap to run and I get about 220 miles per tank which are good after my last bike. My main problem with this bike is one the side stand, I have to lift the foot peg up to get to it which is annoying, second is the rear brake, yes the fronts are good but the back is crap, I use the front to slow down then apply the rear to come to a halt but the rear brake is so bad I have to apply the front again. Third, the windscreen gives loads of buffering so I added a small screen on top which has helped a great deal. Time will tell with this bike still running her in.

Interesting - I had a CB500X 2017, and on THAT bike, the vibrations were totally absent. NONE - almost like an electric scooter ! Then the 2019 came, and people started noticing those. Well, at least ONE affordable motorbike Honda has made good - the CB500X 2022 😃😃👍👍
The first generations of the CB500X were better than the 2019-21 models, but they've got it right again this year

I commented yesterday on your post about the Transalp, I am currently between two fires. I don’t have that much experience in bike riding, but I want to buy something like this CB500X or the Transalp. I could start with the 500 but I only want to buy once. Do you recommend buying the Transalp from the start as I want to ride asphalt and dirt?
If you can stretch to the Transalp, then absolutely go for that. The CB500X is a great beginner’s bike, but it runs out of breath quickly and can be vibey. The Transalp isn’t that much taller/bigger and will keep you entertained much longer.
Was back in 1980 I was going to buy a Z500, the salesmen convinced me to get a Z750. The extra torque make it the right choice.

Beginner's bike, absolutely, but it is quite a tall bike, so make sure you feel confident on it :)
Look forward to your take on the Triumph Tiger Sport 660. I love everything about the 2022 CB500X except the instrument cluster. To me it is just not acceptable. The one on the Sport 660 is miles ahead. With the information centered and concentric, one glance and you can take in everything you need to know. On the Honda, with everything all spread out left to right, circle and squares, with all the lights way to the right, I would be searching for what I want constantly. And if it is hard to read outdoors as well that makes it a deal killer. A shame. It is a beautiful bike other than those instruments. Your reviews are my favorites. Keep it up..

tiger is a lot more expensive, at least in UK. I don't think that triumph has anything to compete with cb500x. for the tiger price you can get cb500x, add panniers, top box, heated grips and plenty of other accessories and still has some money left

It's very pretty (and warm, of course), but the road surfaces can have nasty bumps and holes in them and car drivers can sometimes be a bit 'distracted' :)

I like my Honda 2022, ride it for two weeks now, the only issue I have is the seat, after half an hour my bottom starts to hurt like mad. I have measured the angel of the seat and the driver part of the seat has an angle of at least seven percent! Come on Honda, it is so easy to produce a comfy seat by making the seat angel level. Probably it is hard to find a real ergonomic engineer, so sorry to feel the seat spoils the fun with the bike. I will try to find a solution! For the rest I have no complaints, first fuel consumption 28,3 km/l, the second stop for fuel resulted in 31,0 km/l. NOT BAD! The steering feels like a supermoto bike, from my point of vieuw the nicest bike ever ridden! But as I said, first I have to solve the issue with the seat!

@@RocketMan_Moto I am very sensitive for all kinds of issues with ergonomic parts of bicycles, cars, road rollers. I had it from that I was a child. But if you look at the angel of the seat it is very clear that the body tends to slide in a forward direction, try to ride a hill with a seven percent slope on an bicycle, I bet after 5 minutes you will hate the slope and you will become very tired. But if I ride with my bike the sliding force causes a real strong tension on my skin and that starts to hurt. I had a Kawasaki KLE 500 a couple of years before, I changed the shape of the seat and made it level, before this modification I could make a trip for about an hour and than the fun was over. After the modification I could ride at least three hours with no problems at all! I know ergonomic is a very personal taste, but I am sure a seat with a level position benefits everybody! It is not a particular Honda issue, especially Kawasaki's suffer this problem, and a lot of other motorbikes! Here a comment about the seat in another review: Honda CB500X long term review: mods, known issues and what we like! At 6.18 they talk about the seat is too hard, but I know it is not because of the seat filling, but because of the angle of the seat, so I am not the only one with a complaint about hte seat.

I've got a 2014 CB500X I bought new, and I've had the same issues with the seat comfort as you state for your 2022. Thirty minutes of riding and I'm ready to get off the bike. About the only thing to do is try an inflatable seat pad, or more expensive a replacement aftermarket seat.

You appear to be living the way I would like to be living... I could do what you're doing right here in SW Washington, but the bike riding conditions here, certainly, are not the same. So it's this gal and/or the 300 Rally that are getting my attention when it comes to what to ride next (?)... pretty much. At not quite 100 years old... I'm thinkin' - with a sweet heart near Battle Ground WA there'd be places to have fun around town and others not far away good for poppin' the clutch and gettin' it on... but honestly, I'm sure I'd be plenty satisfied just tooling around the region with an easy rider, it would be more practical to go for what seems like a nice all around lightweight... maybe she'll say - hey!!! Lol, thanks for that :) Life here is pretty good, or at least it would be if we didn't have to deal with this pandemic (like everyone else). We can ride pretty much all year round normally, and the 500X makes a great little all-rounder. Ride safe :)
The look reminds me ever so much of the 2004 Suzuki Vstrom 650 I bought new, rode for 87,000+ miles in less than 5 years and sold thinking I could get another. I should have kept it.

Silly question since I know it's not your bike and you were just borrowing it from a friend, but did you turn the LCD screen brightness all the way up? I didn't realize it was adjustable until I read the manual and now I have no problems seeing it in very very sunny Colorado. Maybe that would've done it?
I did try adjusting it, but found it didn’t make a huge difference. The 2024 model has a much more legible colour TFT screen like my Transalp😊👍

I had a 2017 CB500X for 2 years and did 23,000 kms on it in that time. I replaced the seat with a Corbin. I loved that bike. When Honda updated the Africa Twin I couldn't resist and have #6 in North America of the 2020 AT AS DCT ES. If I was only doing commuting I would have kept the CB500X and probably traded it for the new one now. At this price point you aren't going to get a TFT dash and fancy electronic suspension. Now that I have my AT AS I'm not downgrading. :)
My point being that for what it is the CB500X was a great bike for me. If I had the room I would have kept mine but with the trips I do (2500 - 3500 km week long) I needed a bigger bike. On my 2017 some more aggressive tires, protection, Corbin seat and panniers rounded my bike out nicely. The recent improvements would just make it that much better imo.

How do you rate the Corbin seat, is it much better? If I look at the shape of the seat it still has a wrong seat angle, it should be level, and still it is not level!

Seems that ADV craze went into more sensible middle weight category. Yamaha T7 shows that next few years will be fought over this market niche. Someone at Honda made a wise choice to upgrade their contestant, as even people with an unlimited budget will start looking at this segment instead of unnecessarily powerful and heavy >1000cc

I sold many Ascots when I worked at a Honda dealer and really liked the bike. Always wish I had bought one. A wheelie machine!

My wife rides a 2018 model. As much as the 2022 looks sharper as well as a few upgrades such as the dual disc and inverted forks, she chose the 2018 due to the 17” front. Her inseam is only 29” (73 cm for you metric folks). The 19” front would inhibit a level of comfort when stopping. We actually took the seat to get shaved down some and used an adjustable link to drop the rear an inch. The conventional forks have been upgraded with straight rate springs and cartridge emulators. A custom shock is also being built by Cogent Dynamics. She has 2 other bikes more suited for trail riding.. this one will be her light off road adv bike… goes well with my Africa Twin too.

My first experience on the CB500X was a 2016 Model. It was love at first ride. Sadly, the dealer and I could not come to terms, so I had to let it go by. In Summer of 2021, I WAS able to secure a 2018 Model.
I'm in total agreement with you about the Front Brake. Safe, but nothing to write home about. I ALSO put Michelins on it, and it made a HUGE improvement in overall ride. I put a luggage Rack on it, and am hoping to put a taller & slightly Wider Windscreen on it-In my Opinion, Honda REALLY dropped the Ball there!
The Clock on the 2018 is easier to read than on the newer units, but I STILL don't like it.
With everything that's happening in the World right now, I am NOT inclined to part with what money I do have. That being said, if my lot SHOULD improve substantially, I WILL take a hard look at trading my 2028 in for a 2022-But Honda HAS to do something about that CRAPPY instrument Panel!

Overall great review! Appears that Honda has addressed most of the much needed improvements. For me, if I were in the market for this type of machine, I would prefer a 700-750 cc and definitely an improved clock design. The new color scheme is very good. I could definitely live with that. Trust me. You do not want those 700cc and above on other brands. The fuel consumption and the heat generated are not going to be pleasant in many ways.
Heat is something I have to be wary of here in Portugal.

Bring back the 305 scrambler with electronic ignition, disk brakes and a 5 or 6 speed trans. NO electronic gauges! That bike was the most fun bike I ever rode in my 55yrs of bike riding.

I have a 23 version of this and they must have changed the clarity and brightness of the screen. I have never not been able to see it very clearly…makes me wonder if they changed it for 2023.

I probably wouldn't take the CB500X as a main bike - not really powerful enough - but as a second bike, it's great. The AT is too big for me. I'm 6'1", but prefer smaller bikes :)

Interesting vid. It is very important 2 get a bike that fits u well. If I remember correctly, u r a big & tall guy. There is no stock 500cc bike with enough hp, torque, braking, spring stiffness, and frame size that will support your size properly without mods. The best this bike can do 4 someone your size is teaching u how 2 ride. For your size, have u looked at litres plus (bigger frames) advs? Anyway, ride safe, god bless u.

390 adventure costs 3.8 lac inr while the cb500x costs 80 percent more than the 390. Do you think its worth spending this much more on the Honda?
If the CB500X really is 80% more expensive, then no, go for the KTM.

I have a 2013 first gen one and have now done approx 80,000 miles on it and respectfully disagree with just about every negative comment that you made about the older gen models. It has been 100% faultless. No issues at all. None. Nothing Change the oil and carry on. One of the smoothest twins I have ever ridden, and the totally stock suspension is better than its price or specs would suggest. And more than enough real world power from a fun eager revvy engine. And literally nothing about it all feels "cheap".
The first gen CB500Xs were good, but things went downhill with the 2019-2021 models.
