Kylie Finstad it's probably best to either find a recipe that you like the look of in advance of even buy it or straight after you buy it. I think we all sometimes buy something thinking it would be great to try it but forget about or can't decide exactly what it would go with and then before you know it's gone off!

honestly east and southeast asians have always known how to cook and season tofu. But with all these modern healthy eating trends and westernized societies increasingly being exposed to foods like tofu (and tempeh), they're the ones claiming that tofu is bland (listen... salt and pepper won't do). pretty annoying cos i grew up poor and eating tofu five times a week and i can confirm that tofu is flavorful af (also cheap, not everyone is rich enough to buy meats every day). please educate yourselves with some chinese, japanese, korean, indonesian etc. recipes.

I LOVE tofu and I appreciate all the ways tofu is/was cooked. Whatever the method, the tofu is just beautifully tasteful. I love the texture and the taste and the..... satisfaction of being full on an empty stomach kind of feel??? if you get me???? I just love tofu. I have a Korean sister (adopted) from South Korea and she is full blooded Korean, (we lived in Korea for 2 years) and I appraise her culture. I love Korea and Korean food. I am fortunate enough to have tasted and have been able to incorporate this into my daily healthy life. I love Korea food. and TOFU!!!

For recipes that call for tofu to me coated in a sauce/glaze I prefer to fry the tofu after lightly coating it in cornstarch. I think it creates a better crispy outside w/ a soft inside texture than the baking method.
I never enjoyed baking my tofu and drying it out, it creates too tough of a texture for me. If anyone else feels the same way, try the method of lightly coating it in cornstarch then frying it.

fun recipes. i also love how tofu is a canvas for other flavors but i love it plain too. i lived in japan for a few years and there is definitely an opportunity to eat "plain" tofu. it's subtle and delicious. a common snack you can get at the convenience store is a tofu cube with a packets of ground ginger, soy sauce and bonito flakes. you just sprinkle everything on and dig in. yum!

l like it as is or with a bit of soy sauce sprinkled on. l first tasted bean cake when l worked at a Chinese restaurant and it's definitely an acquired taste. The only kind we used was soft and they put it in the staff meals. lmagine my surprise when l found it in firm and extra firm! But l mostly like it prepared in a recipe. Also makes a fine "egg" in a bun with some vegan cheeze :~))

You're definitely not the only one. You'll actually find that in a lot of east Asian cuisine where they use tofu, it isn't always nearly as dressed as how people make here, especially in soups. Many of them like the natural taste as well.

I save a container of tofu in the fridge, and freeze another. If I am scrambling tofu for faux scrambled eggs, I just use the one in the fridge for that kind of consistency. Anything else, I use the frozen one and prepare as you suggested. Your presentation is beautiful.

It depends on my mood, how much time I have, etc. Most of the things I marinate tofu for is to go for the faux bacon flavor - that is about the only one I let marinade overnight. Everything else is just a few hours.

Roasting it can be good too. It makes it *chewy* instead of crispy, which is sometimes really nice. No need to freeze, just cut and pat dry, then toss in one tablespoon each soy sauce, cornstarch, and vegetable oil (I like to add a dash of sesame oil and balsamic vinegar too). Roast in a 415 degree oven, turning once, until it's golden brown and firm (for me like 25 minutes, so it might seem a little overdone, but it makes it nice and chewy).

I've cooked and eaten Tofu since my teens . And a lot of it ! My sister-in-law a doctor told me that it was high in cholestrol and very bad for me ! Pfft! I told her she was wrong and ignored her advice ! Now because Tofu is fashionable she eats it all the time and preaches about how healthy it is ! Gotta larf!

Tofu doesn’t have any cholesterol and you won’t find and cholesterol in plant based foods 😂

Every time I try these crispy tofu recipes, they don't actually come out crispy.. but I'm glad to see that I don't have to use arrowroot. I will so try this

i used to hate tofu but i’m learning to really love it. i think that i just didn’t know how to cook it like you said. loved your recipes in this and i’ll have to give them a try. on my channel i have a vegan tofu “egg” salad sandwich in my what i eat in a day & that’s definitely the recipe that made me love tofu. 😜

i eat tofu EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. I love it that much and I also love the flavor of it right out of the package. it took me awhile to get used to it but its my favorite. I love it frozen. I actually buy it in large quantities and freeze most of it so it doesn't go bad. I love the frozen tofu in soups or also home made ramen. It works better at soaking up broths when its frozen :) Thanks for this video.

I've found it's different depending on the coagulant used to make the tofu. For the longest time I could only find one coagulated with calcium sulfate (Cauldron Tofu), and it was terrible, it was floppy and gross and tasted like chalk. Then I found a handmade brand (Tofoo) only a little more expensive that uses nigari, a traditional coagulant used by japanese tofu makers. It changed my world now I eat tofu every week, it's so delicious.

Love these recipes!! I’m transitioning to veganism and have been replacing meat in my normal meals with tofu and it’s been pretty yummy but i wanted something like wings or stir fry and these recipes were great 👍🏻
Quick question, where did you get your glass mixing bowls from?

I recently made tofu Ricotta for homemade lasagna & my family could not tell that it wasn't real cheese. They loved it! Firm tofu blended in food processor with nooch, salt, white miso, garlic and onion powder (or garlic & onions finely diced and sauteed in water until soft).

Caitlin!!! Freezing the tofu....GENIUS!!!! You’re Mama is brilliant, thanks for sharing. 👏🏼 I love the use of “shooka-shooka”, ya know the one and only NOOCH!! LoL. (Nutritional Yeast). On the tofu before baking...also brilliant. Just goes to show the apple doesn’t fall far from the brilliant tree. And...last but not least the haircut is super cute. 👏🏼😺

An awesome but simple video for the "frozen-to-cook" tofu method! I've seen so many posts (including Reddit/FB) about draining/freezing. Thankfully, I bought like 4 discounted super firm tofu and definitely want to try it!
