5:50 text "voice" recognition is very usefull, because you can spam it and get response much faster than would with regular voice commands. I'm soo happy about your keybind rant! Cause I've been complaining about the default keybinds ever since I started playing. The only difference in my keybinds is, I use "Q" to drop items, cause that's what I'm used to from Minecraft, lol
I personally like lower FOV such as 65-75 because it just feels way more immersive in my opinion and it's easier on my eyes. Having it set to 80-90 FOV actually gives me motion sickness and feels harsh on my eyes. But hey, to each their own, the game has settings for a reason
I also like a lower FOV in general in Phasmo, but on the other hand I enjoy playing on max FOV with an ultrawide game window to just be able to see all my surroundings, makes the game easier to play
I was going to comment this, yeah. I put my FoV a little higher, but when it comes to "tunnel vision", having the FoV at such a high range makes what's in front of you so far away and has this wall-eye effect when you turn (it zooms closer at the sides). I think it's just what people have become used to, and how desperate they might be to get that slight more side angle of vision (seeing what's next to you, or above/below). FoV 70 tends to be like "looking through a window into the game" for a 1080p resolution, so it makes sense that it would be the default. I don't understand devs that don't add a FoV (or especially a AAA company), because field of vision is the one thing that can make it so people physically are unable to play the game. A very critical setting.. I wouldn't even release in Early Access or demo without a FoV unless you don't care about pushing players away with a bad first impression.
Yeah, I think I play on FOV 65 or so 😅 I'd really like it if the FOV slider would just do that - widen the field of view - without distorting everything, in my opinion everything looks so ugly on high FOV. That's why I keep it low in every game. I really don't care if I have disadvantages, if the alternative means to make the game less immersive.
it gets annoying tho. I don't mind hearing people scream when they're scared, but constantly hearing the TV in the background or someone talking is just ugh.
Giving an option to change your crosshair color will solve the issue of the white ring being visible only on a black background. Or change it to green, it's the most viewable color against all colors (plus you don't see much green in the game itself).
I have been getting frame rates of like 4711 lately lol. I will def try your tips! Update: my game looks WAAAAY better now! Thanks man! It's like a whole new game!
Because my thumb likes resting on the Space Bar, that's the key I use for sprinting. My favorite Sesame Street button is G for Global Push to Talk. It's a bit of a distance, but I rarely run into a situation where I find something I need the team to know about when they aren't in regular Push to Talk distance, so it's easy for me to stretch my finger to G when I just want to tell them that one quick thing.
I use J for journal because the last thing I want to do is open my journal while in the house in case something happens. When I need to go in and check stuff off or consult the book, I step out the front door first so I know I'm safe. Tbf, I'm also very new to the game and am terrified of getting hunted.
Insym: goes off the rails about people using J for journal and T for special. Me: "I feel personally attacked." Thank you so much for pointing out the chromatic aberration though. I was wondering why I was always seeing double in the corners of the screen at all times.
Even though I know my stuff fairly well, I'm so glad I watched this! Film Grain doesn't even show for me, so it's off now. Next, I turned on Soft Shadows and HQ Fog because I thought the Medium I used on my old PC in the States as "good enough." It's truly not, what a dramatic difference! After playing around with the settings some more, I think TAA is the best anti-aliasing quality for my setup (although it does get a bit weird from some angles), but I wouldn't have even thought to try it if you hadn't posted this. I also use R for Run/Sprint in most games because it strains my small hands to pinky-hold Shift all the time, so changing from J to Tab made an INCREDIBLE difference. Thanks!

You fixed my microphone issue! Had to reformat a few months ago and started playing Forewarned and Phasmo again. I couldn't get my mic to pick up in game, even though it was working in Discord. Windows defaulted to an old microphone input. It was starting to drive me crazy. Thank you! Cheers!
The rant about J being for Journal because f*cking Sesame Street logic had me sitting here clapping 😄👏💯 Ctrl is crouch, Shift is sprint, and Tab is inventory/journal. PC gaming standards to live by.
So, the thing about the field of view. Given the range it has and how it looks, I'm like 75-85% sure it's the vertical field of view, which means the width of it scales with your monitor width. 70-80 is actually the "correct" setting most people should have, with 90 being, effectively, a fish-eye lens. Kinda like setting minecraft to "quake pro" which for ME at least, is not that playable.
I don't recommend V-Sync because if a monitor and a game are having trouble syncing up, then V-Sync can lower your frame rate significantly to try to find a point where they can.
V-Sync is usually recommended to not be on if you don’t need it. Instances where you might need it is with larger resolutions where it can cause screen tearing, for example.
It lowers the framerate to ur monitor refresh rate, u won't actually notice it. If anything it will feel smoother as it helps keep a stable frametime. Adds input lag aswell.
@@Sligili not really. It prevents the monitor from grabbing buffered data while the buffer is still being written to. This is where screen tearing comes from; the monitor is grabbing a mix of old and new data

I can see the advantage of seeing more with 90 FOV, but at the same time, the view gets warped and stuff moves across the screen faster and that's what makes me motion sick. I can still watch videos with 90 FOV, but mostly because i don't need to look at it for 2 hours straight^^ As for the radio buttons, i put them on my mouse (button 4 and 5), which feels quite natural to me by now^^ On top of that, i've also set the journal to mouse 3

A lot of the times when devs make the default settings for games it's designed for a specific artistic vision. For example the fov default making the hand look more normal than on higher ones. It's not always bad but a lot of the times it isn't practical for actually playing
I agree on the AA setting, I despise TAA in any game, I just don’t like the way that it blurs the scene when moving/looking around; it may be less jagged and sharp along the edges of objects but it reduces the image quality while moving
Also, about MXAA antialiasing, in short, it's an equivalent of supersampling, so by changing this to x4 with 1080p resolution, you basically playing game in 4K. This is VERY heavy for PC, and that's why usually game rendering systems can't even use MXAA anymore.
I have recently been getting more immersed into things, and lower FOV really really helps with that (Even though irl fov is probably like 110) 80 FOV, shit i may try 75 today, makes the game more immersive And the T1 camera visible
Geeze Insym. LMFAO Take a chill pill for that journal keybind. Anyway we cant used WASD while ready journal, so it's okay to remove left hand from those keys to press J. don't need to overreach with your thumb.
MSAA is fairly outdated and looks good but is very intensive in comparison to TAA which will provide much cleaner and smooth results with a much lower FPS impact. MSAA will look sharper and have no ghosting but TAA is softer and almost completely eliminates jagged edges. Either is fine it is a preference but I think TAA is overall better.
Insym, my settings were exactly like yours, I'm the kind of gamer who first and foremost tampers with all the settings to optimize the experience. Just a caveat - my brightness was at 2.5. I also HATE bloom, grain and chromatic aberration.
I can sort of see why default brightness and FOV are so low. It creates darker and more claustrophobic experience which makes sense since we are talking about horror game. I also think film grain and chromatic aberration are there to give that ghost hunters reality show vibe.
I will say that the flashlight might been made for it too, since each time insym uses it in this FOV there so much dark space in the corner of the screen. 19:40 look at that such a small light spot in the middle, i said might because dont know how its on low FOV
Any FOV over 100 makes me ill and I HATE the fisheye effect. But I agree that FOV should be maxed in Phas, and TURN THE CURSOR BRIGHTNESS UP. I don't know why Insym has to say this, but he's right. That damn cursor sucks to find in the dark.
FoV is purely personal preference tho, Personally playing with anything above 80 in most games usually makes me unable to play them as I get motion sick within a few minutes Everything else I totally agree with
Congratulations on 800k! Been here for years through many trials and tribulations, and I’m prepared to stick with this channel through millions more. Huge respect and very deserved milestone.
ngl I feel called out for using the sesame street method to remember the controls, I don't play many keyboard games so I'm not used to where buttons are and that's the only way I remember 😁
Allow colour changes. I need to have vivid pink cursors for most of my game due to how much certain colours blend for me the bright magenta shit is the only colour I can distinct from a lot of others.
They could probably fix the cursor really easily by giving the white ring a black outline. Then you'd only see the colour ring that contrasts with the background, but not have to change anything dynamically.
Been saying this for years. Ghost orbs used to be really hard to see back in the day and I made the same recommendation. Good call.
Im saying this Direct to the developers in the discord channel but I dont have the expected attention so IDK what to do more.
or let the player pick the color of the cursor
Just make it opaque and let you choose the colour, a colour like purple will never blend in to the things ur looking at

A lot of the times when devs make the default settings for games it's designed for a specific artistic vision. For example the fov default making the hand look more normal than on higher ones. It's not always bad but a lot of the times it isn't practical for actually playing
I dont know why but turning off bloom just now after watching this video is the best thing I did.. SO MUCH BETTER!
Congrats on 800k subs insym
Gonna be applying this next time I get on
I agree on the AA setting, I despise TAA in any game, I just don’t like the way that it blurs the scene when moving/looking around; it may be less jagged and sharp along the edges of objects but it reduces the image quality while moving
congrats on 800k insym
Insym was so mad about J being the Journal keybind that I got actually scared
Also, about MXAA antialiasing, in short, it's an equivalent of supersampling, so by changing this to x4 with 1080p resolution, you basically playing game in 4K. This is VERY heavy for PC, and that's why usually game rendering systems can't even use MXAA anymore.
Thank you, I changed it and wow, what a difference.
"First thing you sould try, after installing, it's changing everything" xD
Congrats on 800k subs🎉🎉🎉
teachersym is back
thanks, and congrats on 800K!
the best advice to be given to any gamer, is to not settle for the default
Congrats on 800k!
I have recently been getting more immersed into things, and lower FOV really really helps with that
(Even though irl fov is probably like 110)
80 FOV, shit i may try 75 today, makes the game more immersive
And the T1 camera visible
happy 800k subs insym
Geeze Insym. LMFAO Take a chill pill for that journal keybind. Anyway we cant used WASD while ready journal, so it's okay to remove left hand from those keys to press J. don't need to overreach with your thumb.
"One of the first things you should do when you download this game is change EVERYTHING" -insym 2023
Well done on 800k!!!
fun fact, as an American, i use ferenheit in day to day life, but when i play phasmo i use Celsius because it makes more sense to me.
Same. When it comes to finding freezing, looking for any negative number is better than “what’s higher, 32 or the displayed temp?”
Omg. I tried these keybinds. Absolutely gamechanging. Now test it for CS and all my other games lmao
Chromatic aberration was the first thing I noticed when I ran the game for the first time, and I couldn't pay attention to anything else.
Ty insym with these settings i can play sunny meadows... before my game just crashed
MSAA is fairly outdated and looks good but is very intensive in comparison to TAA which will provide much cleaner and smooth results with a much lower FPS impact. MSAA will look sharper and have no ghosting but TAA is softer and almost completely eliminates jagged edges. Either is fine it is a preference but I think TAA is overall better.
congrats with 800k
CJ in tears after watching this
Insym, my settings were exactly like yours, I'm the kind of gamer who first and foremost tampers with all the settings to optimize the experience. Just a caveat - my brightness was at 2.5. I also HATE bloom, grain and chromatic aberration.
I like how Minecraft does the cursor. They make it so it is high contrast so it pops out on anything
19:40 look at that such a small light spot in the middle, i said might because dont know how its on low FOV
thanks for this, but can you also make this guide for VR?
Any FOV over 100 makes me ill and I HATE the fisheye effect. But I agree that FOV should be maxed in Phas, and TURN THE CURSOR BRIGHTNESS UP. I don't know why Insym has to say this, but he's right. That damn cursor sucks to find in the dark.
it looks better already! Wow thanks
bruh you commented 1 minute after the video dropped and already set it up and tried it and commented
@@zmajsmp8580He's speed
FoV is purely personal preference tho, Personally playing with anything above 80 in most games usually makes me unable to play them as I get motion sick within a few minutes
Everything else I totally agree with
Thank you for the tips. Can't wait to try it on the console update
WOW finally not 1h or above logne video
At 10:00 it's so funny when he said he'd bang you and leave is soo funny😁 😂 😅😂 also happy 800k insmy
Congratulations on 800k! Been here for years through many trials and tribulations, and I’m prepared to stick with this channel through millions more. Huge respect and very deserved milestone.
Thank you, nice video, i loved your explanations, and now my game looks sooooo better
ngl I feel called out for using the sesame street method to remember the controls, I don't play many keyboard games so I'm not used to where buttons are and that's the only way I remember 😁
I like Toggle talk instead of push to talk since I don't have a gamer mouse. Just in case someone doesn't know it is an option.
Tab is my Push to talk key for everything, so i use a mouse button for the journel
Congrats on 800lk :D
Sum of this helped ❤ thanks V-Sync locks my game to 30fps for sum reason so that stays of for me lol the brightness was the most helpful part lol ❤
I'd imagine the devs could give the cursor a shadow, which would make it very easy to spot against both dark and light backgrounds.
Allow colour changes. I need to have vivid pink cursors for most of my game due to how much certain colours blend for me the bright magenta shit is the only colour I can distinct from a lot of others.
Q for drop is goated, iykyk
