It’s sad because this is actually one of the coolest maps. It’s really unfortunate that the gameplay doesn’t express that. It’s too much of a pain going up and down constantly.

The verticality was a cool idea but gameplay-wise it didn’t work out great. I just wish they would remove the stupid door locking mechanic on sunny meadows.
Don't forget that it you can only turn on 10 lights before the breaker pops which is ultra annoying and barelly anything on this map and for some reason sanity drops insanely fast as well, just on this map. You run up and down and if you don't have candle your sanity passively drop 30% like it's nothing...
I kind of wish they'd put "emergency lights" in the stairwells (that make them at least drain less sanity) if they plan to leave this as a basic small map. At least you won't have lost +30% sanity by the time you found the ghost room and got back to the truck for other evidence items. Just to be transparent, I've only played up to intermediate difficulty and I still lose that much sanity :>
My feelings on this map are *extremely* mixed because on one hand, it's a pain in the ass to play on, but aesthetically it's amazing and it really bodes well for the farmhouse reworks if that's the standard they're setting for themselves going forward. Also, I had two goryos and a shade on this challenge. i wish this game had jumping and fall damage🙃
My main problem with Point Hope stems from my issue with all of the larger maps which is that the gameplay consists primarily of backtracking instead of searching for the ghost or interacting with it. I really think there should be some way to reduce that in general like adding a backpack for small equipment. Also, adding evidence items in large maps that are supposed to be "left behind" by previous ghost hunters. That would make looking around larger locations actually worth it and reward the player for engaging with the map instead of running in a straight line from the truck to the ghost room every time. People don't play Sunny Meadows to speedrun anyway, might as well make it more immersive.
Yeah I’ve always felt like they should have something to make the back and forth less tedious. Large/medium maps will always be less desirable to play no matter what unless they do something about the inventory carrying. They’d obviously have to do restrictions like only 1 or 2 smudges, but they definitely should tweak how much you can bring in. Even if it’s only a larger inventory on maps like sunny meadows or point hope it would be massive.
Least favorite is Prison. Unless they overhaul the sprinting system and/or inventory system, maps that don't minmize walking distance above ALL OTHER priorities will continue to lose out to maps like Tanglewood and Edgefield.
It was 100% an oni, you can tell by the blinking at 38:28. I guess he didn’t realise how much it was visible because of how frustrated he was, which I get because Point Hope (cool as it is) is troublesome in many ways and crashed my game a lot on PS5… was still fun doing the challenge tho
I can absolutely agree going up and down is a pain but this is still my favorite map. I love lighthouses, it's a very detailed map, the random noises make me jumpy in a good way and looping the ghost has a diferent, very unique feel in here. To each their own
This was a weird one for me. Entry bathroom mimic for first ghost, pretty normal. Second Was a hantu in the master bedroom, that I think got stuck in the bed? It was going absolutely insane, the motion sensor was beeping constantly, the bedside light was flicking on and off, it kept throwing things. Third? The ghost was all the way up in the maintenance room, and the INSTANT I set foot in there I got a demon. And by "Got a demon" I mean The demon kicked my ass back down the stairs by popping its ability.
It makes ME feel bad how much it sucks because we all were so excited and just awaiting the update that added Point Hope and within a few games there I hated it and never played again. Sanity drains too fast, too much stair climbing, too hard to hear where the ghost is when its hunting, and the top two rooms are so terrible to have a ghost on. It's disappointing as hell.
My least favorite map would have to be the prison, I always have the ghost room end up in some dead end corner of the map but the times I go to those spots first it's two rooms from the front door. I would *LOVE* a restricted prison map, heck give a restricted version of all the large maps. I don't like walking for an hour to find the ghost room in solo but I love the looks of the large maps. I would play brownstone and the prison much more if I had a smaller version of it.

Question, for anyone that plays multiplayer on Steam/PC version, because I couldn't find anywhere else that this has happened: Is anyone else having severe desync issues? For example, this has happened a few times now, specifically with EMF5: My friends and I were playing Professional, our first game of the day so it was Tanglewood Drive. We find the ghost room within a few seconds, and immediately get ghost writing and ultraviolet. The possibilities were demon, myling, or polter. The ghost was being very aggressive with activity, but didn't try to hunt for a while and crucifixes didn't seem to bother it. So, I doubted demon. It was very active (touching doors, turning off lights, killing breaker, etc), but only ever threw ONE item (we watched it intensely so we would have seen a polter-splosion or if it was throwing tons of stuff), so I assumed it was probably a myling and not a polter. But, I wasn't 100% sure so we waited to double check EMF5 and re-check spirit box (to get polter) or freezing temps (demon). Temperature never went below 3 degrees C for ANY of us (there were three of us playing). The spirit box never worked. Then, two of our team (excluding ME--BTW, I was the host) saw EMF5 at the same time. So, that means myling, right? Well, we selected that, and when we got to the results screen, it was a POLTERGEIST. WHAT?!?! This is not the first, second or third time that the game has given a different set of evidences (usually the third evidence) to the non-host players when I host lobbies. Oh, also, "Member of your team escape the ghost during a hunt" never triggered, either, despite there being 3-4 hunts all of which at the very least, I escaped (the other two players died eventually). It's also worth noting, minor desync issues like before we even opened the truck door--I'd preemptively set 2 video cameras on the tripods while the tripods were still on the wall, one of the other players pulled the tripods off the wall and dropped them in the truck to put the video cameras on (he didn't know you can do it on the wall) and I was like, "Uh, I already put them on, what are you doing?" And both he and our 3rd player were like, "Nope, all four cameras were still hanging on their own, dude". Anyone have suggestions or anyone else having this same issue? It's game breaking, I can't play with my friends when the evidences do not line up with what the host's game thinks. (AKA non-host players' games thinking it's ghost A while host's game thinks the ghost is ghost B).
If and when they change the photo/ video system, I feel like they'd have to change the interaction system. Items being thrown would have to float for a second, or even ghosts appearing and walking around, interacting with the environment at the same time (the model actually messing with things). I'm looking forward to it if that's the plan!
I think a really cool fix could be that the ghost's room has to be one of the rooms on the first three floors, but the ghost can only roam up the map. And, maybe make the forced ghost room at the start thing be tied to sanity cuz it matters a bit less if the ghost hunts early if it starts from the top
That Oni was really weird. As far as what the Phasmo wiki says, the setup period has no effect on sanity drain from ghost events. Darkness sanity decay is reduced by 30%, but that's it. So... what was that? Surely Insym's sanity should've been about 20% lower instead, right? I don't blame Insym for choosing a Goryo in that circumstance. The only other thing he could've kept in mind is that there were no airball events and the ghost always did them in their physical form, which is the behaviour of an Oni.
I have a couple ideas for how they could improve point hope significantly, obvious one, make it a medium map, second remove the stupid double light switches on each floor and make it just one per floor so that you can have most of the lights on up to the top because its really annoying when you're at the top but to get there you have to go through a million dark rooms and drain all your sanity. and another thing they could do is make walking up and down stairs slightly faster so that you dont spend more than half the game on the stairs alone. Oh and also fix the audio on stairways, as well as ghost pathfinding on stairways because both are really broken and unintuitive.
I also had the issue with the oni events after the blood moon update. It seems to be bugged right now only subtracting 10% sanity instead of the usual 20%. Wierd thing to just randomly bug out after an update but its phasmo, so you cant be too surprised 🤷♂
Maybe for the camera changes something to do with tier 1 headgear could passively get some things? But make it kinda spotty so it's kinda balanced. That would give some kind of actual use to it.
This map is the textbook definition of "gimmick". Unfortunately, whether or not this is a good map entirely depends on if you happen to like running a freaking marathon the entire way up
Maybe filming interactions wouldn't be so bad if they made incense (and cursed possessions that increase interactions) have greater effects on the ghost (like an 80% chance for the ghost to do an interaction every 10 seconds that the effect is active? Obviously ghosts like Shades will still follow their abilities.) It would force you to be active in using the incense and the camera and be near the ghost at the time, and it would make it less of a waiting-for-something-to-happen game. You'd have to be creative with ghosts like Shades by filming from outside the room. It might also give an additional way to determine Demons and Spirits by having Demons stop interactions sooner and having Spirits keep the interactions going for longer than other ghosts when using incense.
Our first game of this map, my buddy said, imagine we get orbs straight away, and it was in the entrance, we cleared that one so quick, but then it gave us banshee 3 times in a row and each time it targeted my buddy Mans is either the luckiest or unluckeist person
Awesome as always the developers should have a paid dlc or release a second game where you are the extraction team or exorcists make it so every person in the match has to work together make the ghosts scarier and more aggressive and give a musket with balls filled with holy water
I did this last night...OMG it was a nightmare...Sound sensor wasn't actually to bad...but you could use your breath to find ghost room...but ALL of my ghosts were up almost to the top........
I did this one with 4 of my freinds and we surprisingly did pretty well. We did 5 game in total with 2 of them being revenant that we did find! I think the other one was a yokai or a yurei im not sure. That was my first 5000$ challenge ever, happy it turned out pretty good.
I think they should just modify the photo system. 5 3-star photos and 5 videos of an event or footage of the ghost during a hunt. 5 photos 5 videos Bone All side objectives Identify the ghost. The new perfect investigation.
the Wiki says that the Setup phase reduces the amount of Sanity drain by roughly 30% for the time that's its active so i guess it might help atleast a tiny bit.
I hope they would incorporate player character possession as a ghost event; the player will lose control of their character and will try to kill another player character.
Breaker should never be more than 2 floors away from the ghost room. Truck should be much much closer to the map entrance, t3 mic should cover at least one extra floor and parabolic should cover 2. Sounds shouldn't be muffled as much considering you can barely hear a thing due to the many floors, and to make up for the breaker annoyance it should have more capacity, and light switches should be in less annoying spots. Plus the fact ghosts have disgusting kill range leads to a ton of bs deaths in sich a crammed map, like for example if you hide beneath a set of stairs, you'll die anyways, so kill range should also be reworked to not go through stuff. I know this might end up making the map easier but gameplay is much more important than balance and it's not like anyone actually enjoys dying to stupid design choices, and personally I'd rather have an easy but fun and satisfying game than a tedious, frustrating and boring difficult one. It makes me sad because they clearly put so much work into it and I'm certain seeing the backlash demoralised them a lot. The map has been teased for so long and they made it such a big deal of it, so it really is a sad state of affairs. I think that with enough exceptions and qol changes the map might be fun. A ton of stuff needs to change for that to happen. For example in one game we got hunted by a super active ghost who turned out to be... A shade. Despite the ghost room being literally 2 meters below or above us 90% of the time, the game still counted it as "not close to the ghost" due to the floor difference, and we got spam hunted.
I had an insane game doing this challenge, I always beelined for the Monkey Paw and wished to trap the ghost, then hide and waited. My round went quiet and nothing happened so I walked around looking for a locked door, never found it, and assumed it was some bullshit room like the top of the lighthouse. I just decided to wish for knowledge, guess, and reset, which crossed out D.O.T.S, meaning no Deogen (which made sense since it never found my hiding spot). When I made this wish the ghost started hunting from across the map so I just hid again, however this time it ran like Usain Bolt to my exact location and killed me. In the death animation I circled Mimic, and got my $5k. This absolute TROLL of a mimic turned INTO A DEOGEN, just to come kill me for not wanting to haul 900 items up to the top of the lighthouse. Get fucked Phasmo.
Cool map, wish i could play it. My friends and I are console players and we crash everytime we try to. Longest we've been able to play on it was like 8 minutes before all 3 of us crashed simultaneously.

Insym i'm going to be honest I agree with you and this map has such trash gameplay and it's bottom 5 worst map in the game geniunely. It looks really cool but because it's a new map and it's a lighthouse it is not fit for phasmo
When was the blood moon event I tried doing this challenge on the last few days.. IT WAS ASS, WHY WOULD I WANT TO SUFFER THAT MUCH (Also I'm still a new player, only got like a 100 hours)
I was trying this on PS5, and every time I went through the map and decided to go back to the truck it would crash the moment I stepped into the truck😞
Hey Insym! The Setup timer does a few things, Primarily it stops hunts from triggering no matter your sanity(so Demons can't use ability, Mimics can't do demon ability, Thayes can't troll you, etc) It also slows your sanity drain in the dark so you can have a higher sanity while running around(it helps in intermediate so you don't get sanity tanked turning on the breaker on larger maps), finally, it completely prevents your sanity from dropping below 50% while it's running, you can also force the setup timer to end early by using any cursed possession

It drains so fast because there’s no lights in the stairways even with lights on. You’re totally right, kind of forced to carry a candle

They should add a utility bag to help with the back and forth grind. Guarantee it would make maps like this, highschool prison etc well more playable

That would be a great idea - they could make it reduce your speed by 75% or something, so you can only use it at the start of the game.

You can say that again... Whilst doing this challenge the ghost killed me through the staircase... Whilst it was at the top...

You know what PH needs? A one-way emergency elevator that will get you from the top of the lighthouse to the bottom (unavailable during hunts ofc).

It might also give an additional way to determine Demons and Spirits by having Demons stop interactions sooner and having Spirits keep the interactions going for longer than other ghosts when using incense.
Our first game of this map, my buddy said, imagine we get orbs straight away, and it was in the entrance, we cleared that one so quick, but then it gave us banshee 3 times in a row and each time it targeted my buddy

Awesome as always the developers should have a paid dlc or release a second game where you are the extraction team or exorcists make it so every person in the match has to work together make the ghosts scarier and more aggressive and give a musket with balls filled with holy water
I did this last night...OMG it was a nightmare...Sound sensor wasn't actually to bad...but you could use your breath to find ghost room...but ALL of my ghosts were up almost to the top........
I did this one with 4 of my freinds and we surprisingly did pretty well. We did 5 game in total with 2 of them being revenant that we did find! I think the other one was a yokai or a yurei im not sure. That was my first 5000$ challenge ever, happy it turned out pretty good.

Last deogen was so far up that it couldn't even reach me in my hiding spot.

the Wiki says that the Setup phase reduces the amount of Sanity drain by roughly 30% for the time that's its active so i guess it might help atleast a tiny bit.
I got this challenge done in like 20 minutes. My ghosts were in the kitchen, entrance, and first floor living room section.

I hope they would incorporate player character possession as a ghost event; the player will lose control of their character and will try to kill another player character.
Breaker should never be more than 2 floors away from the ghost room. Truck should be much much closer to the map entrance, t3 mic should cover at least one extra floor and parabolic should cover 2. Sounds shouldn't be muffled as much considering you can barely hear a thing due to the many floors, and to make up for the breaker annoyance it should have more capacity, and light switches should be in less annoying spots. Plus the fact ghosts have disgusting kill range leads to a ton of bs deaths in sich a crammed map, like for example if you hide beneath a set of stairs, you'll die anyways, so kill range should also be reworked to not go through stuff. I know this might end up making the map easier but gameplay is much more important than balance and it's not like anyone actually enjoys dying to stupid design choices, and personally I'd rather have an easy but fun and satisfying game than a tedious, frustrating and boring difficult one. It makes me sad because they clearly put so much work into it and I'm certain seeing the backlash demoralised them a lot. The map has been teased for so long and they made it such a big deal of it, so it really is a sad state of affairs. I think that with enough exceptions and qol changes the map might be fun. A ton of stuff needs to change for that to happen. For example in one game we got hunted by a super active ghost who turned out to be... A shade. Despite the ghost room being literally 2 meters below or above us 90% of the time, the game still counted it as "not close to the ghost" due to the floor difference, and we got spam hunted.

I had an insane game doing this challenge, I always beelined for the Monkey Paw and wished to trap the ghost, then hide and waited. My round went quiet and nothing happened so I walked around looking for a locked door, never found it, and assumed it was some bullshit room like the top of the lighthouse. I just decided to wish for knowledge, guess, and reset, which crossed out D.O.T.S, meaning no Deogen (which made sense since it never found my hiding spot). When I made this wish the ghost started hunting from across the map so I just hid again, however this time it ran like Usain Bolt to my exact location and killed me. In the death animation I circled Mimic, and got my $5k. This absolute TROLL of a mimic turned INTO A DEOGEN, just to come kill me for not wanting to haul 900 items up to the top of the lighthouse. Get fucked Phasmo.

I got lucky for this challenge and got the ghost in the first room twice, ended up taking 4 tries with one dud. Still the least fun phasmo experience
Cool map, wish i could play it. My friends and I are console players and we crash everytime we try to. Longest we've been able to play on it was like 8 minutes before all 3 of us crashed simultaneously.
An update came out today to fix that, luckily. Still would say point hope isn't really the best map

When was the blood moon event I tried doing this challenge on the last few days.. IT WAS ASS, WHY WOULD I WANT TO SUFFER THAT MUCH (Also I'm still a new player, only got like a 100 hours)

Hey Insym! The Setup timer does a few things, Primarily it stops hunts from triggering no matter your sanity(so Demons can't use ability, Mimics can't do demon ability, Thayes can't troll you, etc)
It also slows your sanity drain in the dark so you can have a higher sanity while running around(it helps in intermediate so you don't get sanity tanked turning on the breaker on larger maps), finally, it completely prevents your sanity from dropping below 50% while it's running, you can also force the setup timer to end early by using any cursed possession
It constantly crashes for me on PS5 so I have never been able to play it.
