Big Props to you for finding these guys! Check a LIVE of them in Europe performing "Hora Zero". Years ago they could not break through in their native country Mexico, so they went to Ireland and built a base across Europe and returned home well known and fully embraced.
These guys are bad ass. They actually started out playing metal. Like metalica covers n' stuff. They found their own style and took off. The movie you're thinking of is "Desperado", he played flamenco, and their current sound definitely has some flamenco techniques and influence to it.
More people need to listen to these two because they are sooooo impressive. They've got multiple albums out and a new one is coming out in April 21st, 2023.
Seen them live a few times and it is the "Party that Keeps on giving!" even after the show ends! Met them too! Extremely humble and nice people both on and off stage! See them if you can!
I saw them live in Madrid about 15 years ago and I was impressed by how they made the audience never sit in their seats, they were very close and kept interacting a lot. And of course, above all, the quality of his music with only two guitars.
Rodrigo y Gabriela met as teenagers at an arts program in Mexico City. They put together a band but ultimately decided to just be a duo. Later, as a couple, they moved to Ireland and started busking - at the time they didn’t speak any English. They kept performing, at bigger and bigger venues, and then they started making albums. After a while they realized that their relationship wasn’t working out, and they ended it. But they’re so good as a musical duo that they kept that partnership going.
This song is my favorite with them, but I'm sure I will have new favorites later this year when I finally get to see them live! They're on tour throughout the year and in October they perform pretty close to me :D
I just randomly remembered how much I loved them when I was a teen, and decided to look up to see if anyone has done a reaction, and BOOM, there you are haha
These two are magnificent. Hearing this made me rush to hear Rodrigo’s Guitar Concertos. A masterpiece. Many thanks for the video and the reminder. love to you n yours.
RodGab are the real deal. Tamacun was their breakout album and song. They are from Mexico City but honed their craft In Ireland doing metal covers in their style. They did this tiny desk concert a couple years ago and they presented 4 songs, starting with Tamacun and this song was one they also chose. ua-cam.com/video/PMpGjox3TBs/v-deo.html
Thank you Polo, they are amazing. But please, listen Mediterranean sun dance played by Paco de Lucia, Al di Meola and McLaughlin. No words. Wait for Paco and your heart will explote!

John Butler did a live performance of "ocean" about 13 years ago that is the best acoustic guitar I've ever seen.
Thanks for the pointer.
You should do a reaction to their song "Tamacun". And their version of "One" is great as well.
