I started to learn the guitar a few weeks ago and I have no idea what you're talking about Michael when you dissect the notes but I love your enthusiasm. It's so inspirational and I'm hooked. If it wasn't for your videos I wouldn't try half as hard!
I hear ya. I started playing bass about 7 months ago, have logged in just over 300hrs of practice. Have watched Michael for over a year. I can read tabs easily so know what he means when he says fret numbers. However notes and chords aren't my expertise. Keep playing. I'm finally having way more dexterity and the feeling of where my fingers should be going, than I'd ever thought possible when I started. It is more fun each time I play and I still have SO MUCH to learn.
Just go meet him at the merch table or get there early and say Hi. I've been to see him 5 times in mostly smaller venues and he's the nicest, most humble guy in the world. When he played Third and Lindsley in Nashville we walked all around the room, upstairs and down. Then he disappeared, but we could still hear him shredding. Nobody knew where he was. He was outside with the smokers, sitting on the curb next to the ashtrays playing his heart out. Then he charged back to the stage with all the smokers following him like the Pied Piper of blues and nicotine. All of them had video of Kingfish sitting outside playing them a private mini concert while he was still hooked up to the PA and the band was still laying down the rhythm inside.
kingfish is just a force of nature on the guitar. In all the years I've been listening to him though, the biggest change has been his voice. His vocals have just gotten better and better.
Another must watch kingfish video is his cover of Jay Hawkins “I put a spell on you”! Would love it if you reacted to his rendition! Much love for your channel Michael!
I just got to see Christone at the Chenango Blues Fest last weekend. BLOWN AWAY and I was expecting him to be really great. A generational talent and a truly nice and genuine individual. Totally gracious. He closed his set by playing himself over to the merchandise tent. Then he sat down and signed autographs and met people for an hour.
There’s a video with Eric Gales, Samantha Fish and Kingfish doing Red House They all share a solo in the jam But Kingfish’s solo is ATOMIC MUSHROOM CLOUD level mind blowing. Spicy chord lickery at every turn around … I’ll be studying this video as a master class for months…years even.
YES I was about to comment this too, absolute KILLER jam, Eric passing his guitar to kingfish then goes and steals the bass guitar was an awesome sight to see haha
First video of him I saw was the Hey Joe video in a bar with the TV on behind him and a lot of people not paying attention… until he starts his lead. So enjoy him. Also, Michael, being a drummer with some knowledge, I’m enjoying the theory refreshers. I’m glad to be a subscriber!!!
The first thing I loved when I first watched a video of yours was your passion, but the second was definetely the attention you give to chords and harmony. In a world where everyone wants fiery solos is easy to overlook the beuaty and importance of chords, and to see a blues player like Kingfish giving chords the proper importance if great! Let's remember, one of the greatest, Mr. Hendrix himself was a hell of a harmony genius!!
freaking LOVE Kingfish and freaking LOVE your videos Mike! your enthusiasm is infectious and makes me love the guitar and this community even more. Much love from Toronto CA, keep up the amazing work, your channel is a diamond in the rough.
Found this guy from watching you, learned the guitar part to "empty promises" and its now my go-to riff to play whenever I'm trying a guitar or warming up. Thanks for the share!
He reminds me of a young and more emotional Bonamassa. Most blues players don't think about what you're playing for solos. We play (or try to play) what we hear in our head. We all know how that works and when you actually do it.. it's the best. I love your channel.. mainly because I'm self taught and wanting to learn more theory. Love that I found this channel! It's like learning to ski in the mountains vs a bunny hill.
This kid is good. Real real good. Thanks for spreading the word. As we seem to be losing more and more of the greats that I grew up with, it warms the heart to see the young ones stepping up.
just saw him at Waterfront Wednesday in Louisville. Guy came down from the stage and played in the middle of everyone! Got to meet him and got his new album signed. Incredible guitarrist and such an awesome and generous human.
This series is killing my bank account. I'm straight to the vinyl purchase after the video. The new Goose album is fantastic btw. I wish I could come out to Hunt Valley this weekend but the boy has a road trip ballgame. I know you understand :)
My blues band and I played an opening show for Bernard Allison here in the UK pre-covid. Dylan is Bernard's rhythm player. The guy is a badass mutha on that Tele and the nicest dude too!
What makes Kingfish so great is that he is not afraid to take a chance and in the process prick you ears. He keeps it both familiar, and at the same time, fresh!
Banana peels aplenty!! I’m tripping over myself watching this man rip on this BB King sing-a-long. Kingfish’s voice is like salted caramel. Beautiful. And that guitar tone is like a chef’s go to dish to impress the most discerning of clientele. Digestible, hearty and delectable are the best descriptive words I can think of. Kingfish, you are Tone King. End of discussion. That felt like a spiritual awakening. ⚡️⚡️⚡️🔥🔥🔥
Have fun at Hot August Blues bro! I was definitely torn, because I love Greensky and Kingfish, but my boy Isbell is playing in PA tomorrow and I couldn’t pass that one up.
Man, would be so cool to see Kingfish and meet you. Hopefully all the blues guys come to Germany sometime. The new album is awesome. Have you listened to it yet?
Maybe he's a badass but he is a sweet badass. Got to see him in 2019 at a small venue here in Sacramento, CA. Great performance. He walk the aisles and sat down on the stairs. The whole audience was so into him.
Dude's comin in hot! Looks like a tweed Fender 4x10 with the reverb on zero. Pardon me while I collect my face off of the floor and allow it to get back to room temp.
Nice to see that you’re playing a nice clean tone through this video! I’ve come to depend on a compressor to fatten up my tone and give me dynamics rather than using overdrives!
When Michael played in the beginning I thought it was great, I want to get there. But when Kingfish started playing you really can see what the difference is between a guitar player and someone with awesome talent
He just came to see us in Louisville at waterfront park... Dude GOT off the stage and walked into crowd shredding. I got to be face to face with the guy, super cool cat

I'll be looking for you at Kingfish, brotha. Definitely Definitely come see Andy Frasco and the UN while you are there for a nutty show.
You can hear Jubu Smith in many of his chord choices.
Our generation got the fourth "king" with Kingfish to carry on the Blues!!
Incredible musician for his age! Mad respect

Marcus King has gotta be up there
@@iamtyler4life yeaaaa can’t forget about Marcus. What the heck.

He is the 4th King. BB, Albert, and Freddie are smiling and proud this incredibly talented young man is carrying the torch.

Keep practicing man! It’s worth it :)
Keep at it! It gets more and more fun every day you pick it up
I’m the same. I have no clue about the musical language but he’s interesting
Years of on and off and still addicting every time I pick one up.

Kingfish brings so much joy in his music. Freaking infectious!
This opening jam was so incredible
I friggin love the vibe of Christone, beautiful tone, beautiful playing
Another must watch kingfish video is his cover of Jay Hawkins “I put a spell on you”! Would love it if you reacted to his rendition! Much love for your channel Michael!
Wow, i wish he would react to this vid.
YESS
yes
He’s so darn amazing! I was honored to have him Tear It Up at my booth during the Dallas Guitar Shop! What an wonderful player.
To me it’s his amazing vibrato that makes everything sound great
Making it sing!!

I love your enthusiasm for music so much. That's why I became a member of guitar gate.

This man's musical understanding of what's happening in a musical piece with the guitar is just astounding and inspiring he makes you want to learn
What a great analysis, Michael! Thanks for the video!
freaking LOVE Kingfish and freaking LOVE your videos Mike! your enthusiasm is infectious and makes me love the guitar and this community even more. Much love from Toronto CA, keep up the amazing work, your channel is a diamond in the rough.
You are a stellar approach teacher. Thanks for a true reality check... J.D.
I love that with no ego you're able to talk about how great these guitar players are. Keep doing what you're doing.
HIs voice is incredible!
That was the biggest surprise for me too!
Sweet Jesus,,,the music theory, lingo, chords u are talking bout make my head spin (because im not a player) but i love watchin u explain it.
Kingfish is one my favorites out there right now! Can go from Jimi to BB in the same lick. Absolutely amazing
Saw kingfish the other day at 2022 Bluesfest Australia I now have a new fav.
Found this guy from watching you, learned the guitar part to "empty promises" and its now my go-to riff to play whenever I'm trying a guitar or warming up. Thanks for the share!
Awesome! Here to rep Kingfish and Clarksdale, MS!
Welcome back!
Kingfish will absolutely talk with you. He is that sort of dude. Nice kid to the core, and modest and polite as hell.
I've been waiting on this one. 👊🏾
I got to see Kingfish a few months before COVID. He was so fantastic, it felt like he was unworldly. Seriously, best show I've ever been to.
And you 💕 your reactions warm the very very deepest cockles of my heart. Great session. 💕🙋🎶
Just discovered that dude a few months ago - he freakin' COOKS. I mean he just gets it so freaking hot man, makes my heart beat fast
really enjoy watching ur videos man
Just signed up for guitar gate after 20 years of wanting to learn lol and I can’t wait to understand wtf your talking about haha. Great stuff man.
"Lotta soft banana's out there, but he ain't 1" 🤘🏾🤣🤣
CORRECT

That was by far my favorite intro playing I’ve ever heard you play. Beautiful! Hard to believe that was improved
Great intro Michael; had to put off listening to Kingfish while I studied that for a while.
You had the same look I had first time I heard this guy, huge fan now
You have great ears Michael. Well done.
Your empty promises video was one of my favourites! Glad to see more kingfish 😄
awesome! Thanks for the excellent breakdown.
Wow, really enjoyed this one, great stuff !
just saw him at Waterfront Wednesday in Louisville. Guy came down from the stage and played in the middle of everyone! Got to meet him and got his new album signed. Incredible guitarrist and such an awesome and generous human.
Wow. I want that guitar. Gorgeous.
Kingfish is the man on that guitar! You should check out his Jam in a Van session its killer
Loving the blues. Phenomenal player. Check Buddy Guy and John Mayer do What Kind of Woman is This for another lethal blues performance.
This series is killing my bank account. I'm straight to the vinyl purchase after the video. The new Goose album is fantastic btw. I wish I could come out to Hunt Valley this weekend but the boy has a road trip ballgame. I know you understand :)
great breakdown... very informative... ty sir
I love your passion for your craft.
My blues band and I played an opening show for Bernard Allison here in the UK pre-covid. Dylan is Bernard's rhythm player. The guy is a badass mutha on that Tele and the nicest dude too!
Michael, you just shake that tree. Thanks that was spot on! J.D.
You can tell that Kingfish just feels it. It's effortless and flawless.
What makes Kingfish so great is that he is not afraid to take a chance and in the process prick you ears. He keeps it both familiar, and at the same time, fresh!

“A lot of soft bananas out there, he ain’t one of them.” 👌 I’m stealing that line.
10:56 that chord progression is sooo smooth... i love it!
Brought a tear to his eye lol
You're the man, man. 🤘
this is why I play guitar !!!!!!!!!!!!!
Have fun at Hot August Blues bro! I was definitely torn, because I love Greensky and Kingfish, but my boy Isbell is playing in PA tomorrow and I couldn’t pass that one up.
Dude. I know. I know. I know. I know.............
@@Guitargate hey man… I’d rather have a tough choice to make than no choice. 2020 crushed me
That's a beautiful guitar!
Man, would be so cool to see Kingfish and meet you. Hopefully all the blues guys come to Germany sometime. The new album is awesome. Have you listened to it yet?
I said that he will be another king. Oh yes he is amazing
For anyone interested the chord Michael misses at around the 4.45 mark is a D# diminished 7.
so good
Maybe he's a badass but he is a sweet badass. Got to see him in 2019 at a small venue here in Sacramento, CA. Great performance. He walk the aisles and sat down on the stairs. The whole audience was so into him.
My Man Kingfish so fire, teacher had to put his guitar down to comment in the end.
Awesome 👍👍🍻
Got to see this guy at Bonnaroo a few days ago, tore the house DOWN on the farm
Thinking in to it too much he’s. Just playing from his heart. It’s in his soul baby
Love Kingfish he just comes straight out of the gate blazing
I would love to see this teacher and kingfish on the same stage together
"We're just gonna let it roll...." haha, too much to talk about. Been a fan of Kingfish for a while now.
Nice, I'm gonna be there saturday.
This was fckuen amazing
Kingfish has the stuff your born with and can't be manufactured. SOUL!
Dude that outro was nasty love that guy
Dude! That intro was epic.
You are great guitar player but just listen to this man. Wish you were my teacher
I seen kingfish live recently, certainly knows how to put on a show
Dude's comin in hot! Looks like a tweed Fender 4x10 with the reverb on zero. Pardon me while I collect my face off of the floor and allow it to get back to room temp.
Thanks
Love kingfish
"there's a lot of soft bananas out there.... he ain't one of them" - great line
One of the first palmisano videos I watched was kingfish
Mississippi man!
saw Dillion play with Kingfish & Buddy Guy, he’s awesome!
Nice to see that you’re playing a nice clean tone through this video! I’ve come to depend on a compressor to fatten up my tone and give me dynamics rather than using overdrives!
I hit Like before hearing the voice! WOW! Someone else you might like is an English guy named Sam Fender! He’s brilliant!
I will look for you at HAB. Would love to say hello. Love your videos.
A good song that helped me learn to play in different boxes is srv,s version of tin pan alley
“Lotta soft bananas out there…ain’t one of em”
You should definitely contact some of the younger legends for online performances!
I like how as he’s gotten mature he is better and better and going from full tilt then back down to smooth….
Please do a video to those intros you play for these videos
I would love to know more about those
he killed me with the "soft bananas" comment ...LOL
When Michael played in the beginning I thought it was great, I want to get there. But when Kingfish started playing you really can see what the difference is between a guitar player and someone with awesome talent
