I drives me mad that there are no video recordings of Callas singing the mad scene! I would looove to see her acting as a mad Lucia, I bet she was spectacular :)
Daniliz81 I think she let the music and text speak for themselves.....all the acting was vocal......thank God we have these recordings...
@@pammyjones1151 Actually, she didn't. She DID believe in physical acting and doing more for the character. Thank God for that. :)

@@pammyjones1151 I agree. The way she acted through her singing is the reason that her recordings are still so interesting to listen to today.
@@EmilyGloeggler7984 Callas was known for very few gestures but when she did make a physical choice, it was always meaningful and in perfect harmony with the music.

It doesn't excist. The only part of it that was preserved is this part. But there is a complete live recording of a performance from four days earlier, and also seven other complete Lucias with Callas.

Поддерживаю ваше праведное возмущение, у него просто нет слуха, если Каллас для него плохо взяла верхи)))))), она вообще-то не лирико-колоратурное, а драмсопрано, это что, ничего не значит?! Удивительное невежество на мой взгляд, даже ребенок легко отличит и оценит ее просто безупречные, гениальные ми-бемоль и непревзойденную технику! Это не подлежит даже обсуждению, она Богиня пения и Точка! 🌋🗻🏞🌍🌹

Her voice sounds slightly better here but sadly, aside from vocal acting, the sound is not that good to my ears. I’ll take Mado Robin over this.
Mado Robin and Maria Callas it's not the same musical world! Robin gives an essentially vocal demonstration and Callas gives a profound interpretation of the character, a dramatic dimension that is not found in Robin. I don't criticize Mado Robin that I appreciate a lot, you just have to listen to both artists with a different ear! The recording quality is of course bad but this recording has historical value!
We don't really care what you "will take". Robin and other sopranos are totally irrelevant when discussing Callas. If you don't like this, please tell us so based on what Callas actually DOES, as opposed to what she DOESN'T do = sound like Robin.
Oh non je ne peux pas comparer Callas et mado Robin ! Mado Robin c'est Lakme pour toujours mais certainement pas Lucia .Lucia est un soprano dramatique coloratura .Callas à cette époque ( Mexico ) était une Lucia parfaite avec des suraigus sans tensions et très sûrs .
You LOVE ATTENTION. Why would you compare a vocal bacteria(Robin) to a blue whale(Callas) in terms of size? What motivates you to prefer an interpretation that is completely meaningless and only the high notes are ringing but the size of a mosquito to Lucia herself personified(Callas)????? I knee you were stupid but damn do you have to be that stupid?
Callas is much, MUCH better than Robin. Robin’s vibrato is way too fast and her style is quite monotonous.
