Eli, I've been watching your videos for years. I was born, raised and still live in the Santa Clara Valley aka "Silicon Valley". When my valley started to change I thought it was just changing with the times and tried to roll with it. Now it seems like an entirely different country, one in which I am no longer welcome. Why continue to be loyal to your city if it is not being loyal to you. The disaster here is not as defined or recognizable as it is in Asheville or Florida, but it is just as life changing in many ways if you stay loyal to your city here. My family here have all passed or moved away (ironically, my son is in your neck of the woods). I would love nothing more than to relocate. Take this misfortune and turn it into opportunity. Be loyal to yourself. Life is short and open doors are few and far between. Use this "open door" to unlock a new life and start from scratch in a sense. You have helped me and many others roll with the technology "punches". Time to help yourself. You folks in NC are a tough and resilient breed. I have no doubt that you will bounce back again, like you have done many times with your channel. Keep running. That mindset will get you to the other side of all of this. Good luck and God Bless!
Eli has trauma-bonded with Asheville. He can't leave! lol. His house is fine, only the grid is down (and the bars are gone). Can make a bar in your own backyard ;)
Live in Asheville and from Raleigh. You'll make more of a difference in Asheville, but no reason you can't do things in both places. Also everything in Raleigh is 20+ minute drive, so think about how much you want to have to drive.
I would have been at the meetup but out of town this week. Yeah, my life has been a mess the past few years and not moving that ball forward is not good, worse if you can't just hold it and it rolls backwards. Hope you enjoy the Triangle area.
Eli, in even that your wife died you could dump tech and become a triathlete or a florist influencer. New story arc unlocked. Good on you for keeping up on the running. j/k
Glad you guys are ok. Yes. Look at the coast. How many times do they build a house at the beach and hurricanes take them out again and again. Insurance though expensive rebuilds them again. A massive flood in the smokies? Never would have thought it. But what was it? 40 inches of rain? Very rare. That would flood any city it fell on. I live in NC in the piedmont. We will not forget WNC! At least for a while. Lol
life right now feels like musical chairs more than risk lol. everyone trying to stay afloat before they get sunk and with no chair. especially economically.
If you are going to build a house in a flood plain, keep it small, and build on pontoons. Houses are places to sleep, eat, and argue, not keep as a store of value. Flood plains are for farming, not manufacturing.
You forgot to mention your fans in South America, especially BRAZIL. Hugs, sir. Initially loyalty to the family, the rest comes later with the choices...
Parts of the world known to be vulnerable to frequent large earthquakes can build buildings and infrastructure capable of withstanding those earthquakes. So surely with the right building codes and engineering it's possible to rebuild the infrastructure to withstand these floods. Most Europeans already think it's silly the US builds its houses out of wood and materials that can't withstand bad weather.
Would it be possible your panel breaker tripped and the tesla wont charge until it's turned back on? Just a thought. 60k left without power. It was 150k 2-3 days ago.
We dont have much choises in a world where you need to pay for everithing. Even if not cash, time. We must play the game, or dance the newer ending dance. No matter how hard is it, giving up is stepping out of this word (let your "religion" decide what after it).
If homes could only be built if they met both the hurricane standards of FL and the earthquake standards of CA, everything would be owned by commercial real estate because of the cost. I saw we just sent a bunch of electrical Transformers over to Ukraine because they're winning so hard, you'll have to wait a little longer Eli. You should see some of the houses President Zelensky has bought over the past year, the war must be going well.
Love the "Proof of Life" style videos from Eli. Thanks for keeping it real.

Eli for 2024 "move the damn ball"
I'm so glad to be able to hear this common sense again!
Was looking for you on your Daily Blob channel. Sending you hope and well wishes from a Palestinian. ❤❤
I liked what you said about the spaghetti monster!
It reminded me of what you said a while back about flying turkeys.
My neighborhood in FL got destroyed by tornadoes. I don't think we'll ever see "normal" again here..

Asheville pulls its people back

Maybe you can make a video on mind reading mark in your spare time!
Eli and Louis are the exemplary parasocial relationships worth having

Stay well, Eli.
Loyalty to a city. Heh. Don't be "Chained to the dead body of you former self" or whatever that title of that blog was. It was very insightful.
Glad you and the Mrs. are okay. Also, the grey in your beard suits you well!
i would buy you 10 beers if i would be there, only to talk to you because youre funny man, you are funnyy
I'm in Raleigh and could use help launching a site. Let me know if you're looking for a couple days of local work.

Is it sad that I view this as an opportunity to move there if it becomes affordable?
I know exactly what you mean about the air when running at closer to sea level! It’s like a drug and you hardly break a sweat.

Its nice to see you! This too shall pass!

Chicago solved to effect of flooding from the Chicago river and Lake Michigan by raising downtown Chicago between 4-14 Feet
Who said you have to stay in one city? I don’t understand city loyalty.
All to the good.
Saint Petersburg Florida here...no power but all else is good..
