I landed what I thought was a decent tech job and I sacrificed my personal life for the company. Now they are shutting my site down and asking us to all move for the company. Not happening. As you said, do what gives you life and passion, not for the company. Planning on doing a pivot and will find something else for work. My dad was a Systems Analyst. I knew his bosses and spent time in the data center. My dad and his boss were close friends. Today, bosses could care less about an employee or family. My dad wrote airline reservation systems, worked in labs developing networks and designed the early systems used by law enforcement to look you up by your driver license/ID to check for warrents, etc. I am second gen techie.
