I find these sorts of things therapeutic. They’re helpful to relax in bed :)
You do your videos however you want. It’s your channel.
I’m looking forward to starting my own, and have endless footage, but I want to get so far in the process before putting vids out.
But things are slow when you work full time nights and rely on having energy after work to crack on, and the weather when doing external work!
Btw, 38 now and noticed a change in energy, even though I’ve never drank or smoked. But sadly I did lose most of my hair by 24, so don’t have to worry about that any more 😅

I’m on the driveways and patio landscaping Facebook group, and it’s full of grumpy old experts with nothing better to do than critique and mock other peoples work.
With regards to the acer, it looks like it’s dried out for a spell, hence the die back. I would mulch the soil with compost and feed liquid seaweed to help the roots along but go easy on the feed for the rest of the year. Find a more shady sheltered spot for it too. It will come back fine and you will be able to take cuttings or air layerings to make loads of them.

Currently doing a full Reno by myself on a Bungalow in Polegate area where a 6 yard skip is £360 :( Bit of a captive audience around that area as Bungalow OAP central so all prices are inflated including Council TAX @ around 2.5K for 2 bedroom yet in suburbs of London a 3 bed house around 1.5K. Fantastic Channel Aiden, don't worry about what video you post it humanises you and the process which I can relate to.

I honestly think you could have the place done - or close - in 18 months if you really start cracking on with the main build and prioritise it. Get yourself a whiteboard, get the jobs listed in an order and start crossing them off!
I bet you felt so much better after all that tidying, there’s something very satisfying about just having a massive tidy/clear-out.
I wouldn’t worry about the insulation / mouse situation, I had a load of sips panels sat out for a year or so, I think I had one or two panels with a little nibble off an edge, that was it.

Don’t get disheartened with the acer. Ours got windburn and knackered all the leaves in previous years but it has come back again this year, although there were a few dead bits. Ours is in a sheltered spot now and as a result seems to be doing better (at the moment anyway). Also wondering if the pot is a little on the small side given the size of your acer. I’m no expert but just a thought.
Also.. don’t rely on weed membrane holding nature back completely - weeds will still get through eventually! And once they do you’ll probably be cursing the bloody stuff when all the plastic strands are tangled up. Have fun 😄

In regards to what work and what doesn't work on youtube. There are millions of people that watch other people cut grass (like lawn makeovers) and even millions that watch....... cows getting pedicure. I kid you not. I guess it's because it's a little gross but satisfying to see cows walking away happy. Internet is weird. You just need to find your audience! I like your videos: they are very relaxing. I enjoy the random DIY guide as much as the relaxing in the sun bits. Only suggestion I have as a viewer is that I really struggle sometimes to watch 20' long videos. Not because I find them uninteresting but because I've got limited time with all the TV series and youtube channels out there. Also very long videos surely contribute to the low retention. 5 to 10 minute videos would be perfect. Sorry for the long comment and happy belated birthday! You are older than me but you look waaay younger :P

Do the siliconing videos Dude. The whole world has either / and tried to silicon something, had a silicon failure that caused a water stain on a ceiling and had to redecorate, had a go at siliconing because it’s easy but they got poor result. Think of the new siliconing series as a steady income in your retirement.

Great to see you back, mate. In fantasy land, we'd all be employing professionals whilst we sip cocktails on the beach. In this fecked up reality, none of us can afford to pay someone their going rate when we can have a decent stab at doing it ourselves. Keep on it, fella!

The pros are always going to tell you you should leave it to them, so they can be paid. I take my time and do plenty of research and generally end up with a better job, save a lot of money, and don't have the pro's dirtbag employees all over my house. I got tired of hiring a pro, and having a bunch of yahoos show up to do the actual work.

@@THE-AIDEN-PROJECT Yeah, but if 3,000 people turned up at 'Acer View' that would be quite a crowd. However I expect you would like to add at least one or two zero's on the end of that number.
The people I really look forward to often have a story to tell, they have interesting things to work on and they do it in a fun way. You have most of those (imo).
People I always watch (if they have a new video):
      - Farmcraft101
      - Watch Wes Work
      - CuriousMarc
      - Monkey Wrench Mike
      - Bricklaying with Steve & Alex
      - Some bloke called Aiden
You have even had 'The Gosforth Handyman' give you a shout out....he couldn't understand why you weren't more popular (if I remember correctly).
PS I used to follow Gosforth Handyman on a regular basis too. He's very similar to you.....but bald & talks with a strange accent.

Let’s get real most real blokes like talking bollocks.👍 As to your critic on the silicone - FFS can you imagine claiming you had been doing siliconing for 25 years and were therefore a ‘professional’ - a life well lived - not.
Keep making plans - a plan is an instrument of change.😉👍

For views, retention and income it is far better to have shorter videos 2-6 mins, time is precious for all of us. Don't deviate from the main topic too much, cut out all of the fluff unless it is something truly worth knowing or funny. If you speak a second language create a second channel with the same content in your second language. I get three times more views on my Spanish channel compared to the English one. Good luck!

Totally agree but I'm thinking that long term a relationship based channel may be better than a transactional one. I'll throw in shorter videos every now and then but alot of my regular audience tends to like longer chatty stuff
