Just had the exact same issue. Rats coming up the soil pipe and chewed through the flexipipe to downstairs wc. Was advised that flexi pipes should not be used at ground level for this reason, so replaced with solid pipe and rat blockers on sewer pipes to stop them coming back. Luckily they did not get past the pipework and into the house . Also agree with you on the concealed wc's - complete pain to maintain.
Oh god, I never thought of that 😯 chewing from the inside 😫 that might end up being my next job, a rat blocker 😅

We have one site with flexi waste pipes on toilets and has a rodent issue. Virtually every one has been chewed. Its too early to tell but we fitted a rat blocker to the drains. One house the little gits are coming up the cavity.

Bloody Rats . I spent years trying to sort out rats in my loft. Finally tracked it down to completely unfilled man hole and pipes under extension so had to fill all that in. Then had to cement a terracotta wast pipe from old toilet. Still get the odd one once a year or so but at a loss as to where that is getting in.

Have a look around that high level 4" pipe into that chamber. Bet there is a gap large enough for a rat to squeeze through and follow the outside of the pipe into the house. Seal it up 👍
Good point, when they drilled it they blew out the bit inside the chamber but I did see they had put cement on the back side so it wasn't open, although I didn't check underneath 🤔

Get your self a decent ffp3 mask that has replaceable filters. I got one because I was dealing with potential asbestos and this is the highest level of filtration. When my mums cats got old they started crapping in the house and it turns out this mask filters out the smell as well. So pretty sure you would have been better off with one of these on rather than getting the rat shit and general waste pipe smell right up yer nostrils.
Ahaa i do have one from when I sorted my asbestos, it is full face which is slightly annoying but I had no idea it would help with smells 🤯
How would you rate that inspection camera?
Yeah it's pretty decent, having the side camera is handy. Out of the few times I've used it, I wish it also had an articulating head, but of course, they're more expensive
