    Very well put Aris. "You can win an entire tournament with 5 moves". He is absolutely right.

    I've been playing for a while now & this sht has never occured to me. Its so simple but incredibly effective. I've been trying commit many combo strings to muscle memory but honestly this is what in-game tutorials should be teaching.

    Fantastic explanation. I always viewed the simply jabs and basic low kicks as useless since they don't do enough damage to be worth the risk. Tying it together with movement and other follow ups make them very useful it seems. Just like footsies in MKX.

    wow wow wow... THIS is what my tekken has been lacking, i know the combos, i know the pokes but yet i really struggle against my friend who barely does any training or watches any guides or knows good combos. Coming from SF background i've sort of had this illusion that i have a proper strategy like fishing counter hits with bryan etc. but i haven't really factored in the movement which is huge in this game and it makes sense.

    I shivered involuntarily the moment I heard -13 and relatively safe in the same sentence :D

    • @Hasaryu
      @Hasaryu 7 років тому +7

      And yet, it is relatively safe. Most launchers are blockable at 13 frames, with the exception of a couple hopkicks. Most punishment there is still going to be heavy poke, rather than launchers.
      And this is for new players, to give them a way to start building an offense, while giving information about frame data. Because that shit is intimidating as fuck, if you are looking at it for the first time without a clue.

    For a player who hasn't played Tekken since Tekken 3, thank you. Extremely insightful video, opened my eyes. Each character having over 70 moves was very confusing. I realized I have to just play the same character for hours, weeks likely, before I even begin understanding how everything flows. It doesn't help that my hands aren't used to the speed of buffering.

    • @beepist5000
      @beepist5000 7 років тому +3

      bornoftherods Melee is a lot more dependant on movement than Tekken. But one of the biggest challenges in Melee is transitioning from neutral game to punish game because of opponent DI. Where as in Tekken combo strings are always connect when executed properly once you get your hit confirm. Coming from Melee I can appreciate how I only have to worry about my own excution during my combo string in Tekken.

I was intimidated with how many combos and moves there were, and I'm a beginner at fighting games, but this video inspired me to take it one step at a time with Tekken. I might practice and "strategize" some more instead of dropping this game completely. P.S Love your beard :)

  • @WhiteErFox
    @WhiteErFox 7 років тому

    Nice.
    I noticed movement is important on my own, (which is called learning I guess.) by trial and error.
    You see, when I button mashed, I noticed that my enemy was blocking more efficiently then I was and punished me severely by initiating a combo when I went into attack mode all the time.
    I just did one thing: back off. Did a little back step. Ducked. And then went to lash out again.
    MOVEMENT is important in this game! I like it how you can sidestep.
    It's a very accessible game, but deeper then it looks on the outside. Love it.
    Thanks again for the tip!

    Just wanted to stop by and say thanks I have been trying to learn tekken teg 2 for about a month now... once I started applying these basics I was able to find some much better combos and learned how to better move my character. Now I think that I am ready to start trying out some new characters for later...I was playing Kunimitsu Arcade while watching some of these tutorials they really helped me out all the way to the boss.
