Jdietz43 These tutorials should've been in the game. Why market a game heavily to newbs and casuals but not make a beginner tutorial mode? Heck this game doesn't even properly introduce you to screw attacks, only those super small tooltips that barely anyone looks to at all. Newb friendly mechanics aren't what make a game newb accessible; but a tutorial mode that explains the mechanics thorougly. TTT2 was a very advanced game but it was more accessible to newbs in my opinion due to its Fight Lab mode that explains bounds, tag assaults, punishing, highs mids and lows.
this, the game is utterly impenetrable to someone new without a ton of research, and tbh a full game released this day and age should really do a half decent job at explaining itself tekken is wonderful because of how complex it is, how about the game actually tried to introduce itself so more people would get into it
Teaches you Tekken then drops the game after the first year and a half because this isn't 2001 in an arcade where he can listen to button presses and model his responses off of that. That's the real reason he hates online, it ain't the netcode.
bastiisalive every character has a move where they can take hits WHILE continuing with the move. So for example Bryan fury has armour (flash of white) on his mach punch. if he gets hit with a couple of punches or kicks while his mach punch is happening, then Bryan will lose health but his mach punch will still happen. So getting grabbed while performing an armour move, example mach punch, you will not be able to escape from the grab. if that makes sense
You can basically think of it as super armor. They are blockable, but if you do them randomly it can catch people off guard sometimes. Which is why it's not always good to just spam attacks over and over lol
yeah xD my opponent online did that with his Jin , but his health is short , so right exactly when I used Josie's rage art xD , then boom... but thanks for the info xD
I love how he gets straight to the video unlike these other people giving long ass intros and asking for me to like comment and subscribe a thousand times thanks!
I love how one of the "helpful hints" on the loading screen is just, This bar can display gameplay tips.... And that's like one of 7 messages you'll get that isn't rage drive related
based on how many likes your comment got i think i'm one of the few who can't stand this music anymore... get's annoying after a while and i've spent too much time training in this stage... it's really great that you can change the music
It just fucks me up because I can't stop noticing the fact that his back foot creates a noticeable splash during the back hop part of his neutral animation while his forward foot produces absolutely nothing. Same thing with Josie.
I once played against a Bryan dragging a sword behind him in Infinite Azure. Every animation was on point, even pulling the sword out of water. 10/10, would fap to Unreal Engine 4 again.
you dont know how much i love you dude, bless your soul you are the greatest teacher, every one of your tutorials are so clear and easy to understand, the best.
A) I'm just a dumbass hillbilly, but seems like you could easily discern the difference between what type of tournament I stated I won, and some big name tournament. 2) If the pros who are pouring life into these tournaments with countless hours of practice are feeling insecure, or that my playing online tournaments in some way detracts from their glory...that is a flaw in their character, not in me. Thanks for your opinion, thought police.
For multi throws you get an audio queue when to press your break. It's the cracking sound you hear when you do multi throws. Also for the one doing the throw it is a great queue to know when you can input your next throw command ;)
Same for when you continue your chain in some throws: with that universal tackle on king, you have to input 1+2 at the same time as the crack on 4+3 or 1+2
every character has a move that has armor properties, which as their names suggest gives you armor for the duration of the move. Armor will pass through mids and highs (you WILL take damage, but not be staggered, meaning your attack WILL come out no matter how much you get hit), but are broken by throws and lows.
I think the armor thing is in one of the tips that Tekken 7 shows bottom of the screen when it's loading like power crushes goes through high and mid attacks but are vulnerable to grabs and lows or some shit like that
I have something if aris didn't mention it: You can go to controller settings and bind buttons... let's say 1,2 (Same time) to a shoulder button. Like if I tap R2 on my ps4 controller my character does the 1,2 move. It helps with combos, just wanted to drop that little info :)
Thank you for this, Tekken just came to game pass and a bunch of my friends and I have been having a blast, but breaking throws( or rather, LACK of breaking them....) Has gotten me an L more than a few times so far
I was legit scared that the armored grab-punish would be unbreakable throughout multi-grabs. I mean, it makes sense to make grabs a hard punish against armored moves, but a full unbreakable chain would just be excessive.
Wow the way you describe and explain things is really refreshing. You remind me of myself lol. I’m so sick of UA-cam tutorial videos that are 80% “uhhhhh” and “hang on guys I should have done this before sorry”
This is what I love about Tekken you can spend hours in practice just learning new shit. Also thanks for these guides as a new player into Tekken as far as getting serious about the game these videos are very helpful.
I think that applies to any move, as long as you grab him before opponent can do his move, it is considered unbreakable. I have done it many times, you can consider it a punish of some sort since it happen during the opponent's attack.
It's funny how he understands most fighting games at such a deep level and then completely shits the bed on every single other game he plays. Alright. Good stuff, amigo
Question. At the end how did he break rdc with a 2, when the first grab looked like a two hand grab? Wouldn't he have needed to break it with 1+2? So I guess it's good to get into a habit of breaking left arm with 1 and right arm with 2,even if they aren't command throws because you may never know which type of throw they're gonna do right ?
what about tech rolls? I heard you talking about those in your king gameplay videos when you did the spinning throw grapple but I never understood what you meant or how to do it.
Butter of Sorrow that spinning throw is called giant swing and what aris meant is you gotta tech roll during the throw impact to lessen the damage Now doing tech roll you might wanna mash 3,4 right after you hit the ground. It has somewhat similar features with side roll but they are completely different with each other
Btw you can look on a channel called levelupyourgame. There, you can find a getting up tutorial, though it's Tekken tag 2 but its still applicable in T7
Arhh no wonder, I was doing anything and it didn't work for me. So it's the same as knocked to the ground, roll left is punch button too. Thanks heaps, my Tekken game has improved big time. It's coming together now. Sooner than expected I will be the King of the world.
I didn't know tekken throw chains were like this. in DoA they are harder to escape because you can't mash, and if you break on the same frame as the attacker continues, attacker gets advantage. But with that said attacker also can't mash to continue throw chains. so if you know your opponent's timing and they don't, you'll basically break 100% of the time.
Wait since chained throws can be broken by mashing the right throw break, does that mean you can only people that don't know how to break throw? Does it mean chain throws don't happen in higher levels?
Well I did know about the throws beating armor moves so I feel a bit better about not knowing how to use buffering in this way. I am pretty sure I even knew about buffering but had no idea how to implement it in such a way. Good shit. Should really improve my execution One question I have is side throw breaks. In other Tekkens you had to press the button that was the side you were being grabbed from I think. How about now in T7?
I just started playing tekken and my friends whooped me and say i should learn myself. What should i be learning on a character? This is my first fighting game also. Thanks in advance
Dear Namco: literally no one who just got this game would be able to ever know this without Aris.
Thanks you disgruntled bearded man you.
People knew how to do this shit back in Tekken 1 without any kind of tutorial
Jdietz43 These tutorials should've been in the game. Why market a game heavily to newbs and casuals but not make a beginner tutorial mode? Heck this game doesn't even properly introduce you to screw attacks, only those super small tooltips that barely anyone looks to at all.

It's because casuals don't care about deep mechanics most of the time.

Nor will they ever if they never know they exist in the first place.

Eh, big cousin
Funny you should say that, I get really nervous when a news outlet interviews my uncle as well.
good shit to the guy who brought up the armor thing
i'll be honest..idk what does that mean ..that a jargon?
bastiisalive every character has a move where they can take hits WHILE continuing with the move. So for example Bryan fury has armour (flash of white) on his mach punch. if he gets hit with a couple of punches or kicks while his mach punch is happening, then Bryan will lose health but his mach punch will still happen.
So getting grabbed while performing an armour move, example mach punch, you will not be able to escape from the grab.
if that makes sense
flash of white...you mean the power break thing?
You can basically think of it as super armor. They are blockable, but if you do them randomly it can catch people off guard sometimes. Which is why it's not always good to just spam attacks over and over lol
yeah xD my opponent online did that with his Jin , but his health is short , so right exactly when I used Josie's rage art xD , then boom... but thanks for the info xD

Watch his training mode input during Fang vs King test 16:42. He keeps hitting 2 during Death Cradle. This is how you break it.
Man, I miss the ATP lessons. These videos are what motivated me to learn more about Tekken.
Aris learning while teaching. That's awesome!
I love how he gets straight to the video unlike these other people giving long ass intros and asking for me to like comment and subscribe a thousand times thanks!
it's also because he's excerpting them from his streams.. xD

Wait, you can change the music?
on ps4 you can use the music of all old tekkens in any stage and menus... i heard the pc doesn't have that but i dont know
only pt. 1 though.
Whenever Aris does a Rolling Death Cradle, he sounds like he's drumming LOL
can’t believe i’ve been playing this game for 5 years now

It just amazes me how complex and challenging Tekken is. Great video !
The names of these beginner videos should be renamed to "Tips For Stoners". These really help a stoner such as myself. Thanks Ingrid.
12qwertyfilible beautiful title, I approve as a fellow stoner! ^.^
Cameron Campbell Aris calls people stoners, so it would actually be quite fitting is n0pants called these videos tips for stoners
you dont know how much i love you dude, bless your soul you are the greatest teacher, every one of your tutorials are so clear and easy to understand, the best.

That is crazy about grabbing armored moves. Did not know that.
what is armored moves
every character has a move that has armor properties, which as their names suggest gives you armor for the duration of the move.
Armor will pass through mids and highs (you WILL take damage, but not be staggered, meaning your attack WILL come out no matter how much you get hit), but are broken by throws and lows.
MLPAiden Hit invulnerable for short. Or rather, immunity to hitstun.
Yeah immunity to hitstun is a lot better of an explanation.
I mean, you won´t be able to do it on purpose so who cares?!
I think the armor thing is in one of the tips that Tekken 7 shows bottom of the screen when it's loading like power crushes goes through high and mid attacks but are vulnerable to grabs and lows or some shit like that

Also new, the last time I played was on the PS2! Was playing with my settings and saw the options for that... thought I should share ;)
Gonna do that for taunts.

For any King user reading this:
King has that 1,2,3,4 buff if you press everything at the same time...The binding key really helps with that

Thx Aris for teaching the new guys how to break chain grabs :) It gets boring when in 80% matches people can't break if their life depended on it.
Thanks a lot for this tutorial. countering throw is one of my weakness as a steve fox player.

do each of the chain grabs have individual break buttons?
or is it any punch at the right time?

If I remember correctly, you can't actually break throws in Tekken 1
Tekken 1 was whack lol

aris did the power crush test the other way around. he should instruct the dummy to do the power crush and then break it with the throw.

Will you be doing in depth character guides. Like analyzing character move lists?
The more i learn about this game, the more im starting to like it more than street fighter... Wish i knew how sick tekken was earlier.
Lowpunch street fighter is still fun to watch ...just not as fun to play sometimes. Street fighter makes me rage at times.
Ki-charge chain grabs after Jaguar step throw. Yep that's what I love after Tekken Tag 1, you can cheat through the grab commands for the most part.
your an excellent teacher mr aris ty so much!
Super informative, thanks dawg!
But as the opponent who is on the receiving end , how do you tell if the throw is a regular throw or a command throw ?
You don't need to know if it is a regular or command throw.

the little cscrolling information on the bottom of the screen during loading says you cant break throws during sheild move.
