If that were out in AZ, we'd probably rip the rotted front bumper off, replace it with a nice, low-profile winch bumper, clean up and weld some reinforcement back into the frame, and either run the bed or put a flatbed on it. Some cleanup and that looks like it'd be great offroad doing some overlanding. Wiring can be a pain, but isn't too bad once you get into the headspace for it.
@@colinl9018 Eh, you'd be surprised. For things like overlanding and a lot of 'point a to point b' trails you'd be surprised how little 4wd is truly necessary. Good to have, obv, but not as important as a lot of people think (mostly because when people picture any kind of offroading, they think of near-vertical boulder crawls and such)
@@brentunderwood7600 I should probably start specifying, the 5.8L platform itself wasn’t that bad, Ford just really restricted what the engine was capable of. The biggest difference between the 5.8L and the 5.0L is that the 5.8L made a bit more torque and a tiny bit more power, but for an extra 49 cubic inches you’d expect it to be a bit better. They were built with E7 heads which had terrible flow and performance, and I’ve also heard that the engine was too tall so the lower intake had something like 90 degree runners to make it fit. Not to mention that the factory cam was extremely restrictive as well. And because most of them were in 3/4 ton trucks, they were treated like a 7.5L or 7.3L diesel and overworked which would consequently overheat them often and crack heads and manifolds. I’ve driven both the GM 305 and 350, and it’s night and day difference. Both GM motors make really good power, I feel like Ford missed out on the opportunity to make the 5.8L a powerhouse.
An when engines set spark plugs do go bad when setting long periods of time. Put new plugs in an I bet it will run good unless the engine is hurt. Also new fuel
@@Jacksongamma No, it was already installed in the garage when my parents bought the property. It definitely needs to be replaced though, it’s quite sketchy.
@@Backyardmechanicbywilliam That was not the case with this truck, it didn’t need either of those things. The spark plugs were perfectly fine. It ran when it was parked, and spark plugs can’t foul themselves while sitting unless moisture gathers in the cylinder, and in that case they wouldn’t necessarily foul, they would just rust/corrode. Spark plugs almost never need to be replaced if a vehicle is running with a good AFR, the combustion usually keeps them clean. Because this engine is fuel injected, assuming it was running as it should when it was parked, I guarantee the plugs were perfectly fine. Wires are a possibility, they could’ve been chewed by mice over the years or deteriorated but considering the truck cleaned up the more it ran, that clearly wasn’t the case since plug wires can’t fix themselves.
5.8L is loved for being reliable, not winning races. Well done on the find itself and revive. I'm excited to see that cowboy cadillac!
Love the videos man, you popped up on my feed and I have to give you props for making the cars run despite the issues! Much love from Israel 🤘🏼
Minty burnout, keep up the good work!
Awesome vid can't wait till the next
Awesome burnout! This is my favorite style of Ford trucks
Keep us posted on the status of this rig
Good score!! Worth the effort!
Battery trays normally rust out because of battery chemicals/acids. Very common.
@@richlaw1965 We’ve had over 200 of these trucks in the last 15 years, I’ve never seen that happen to one of them before. Maybe I was just lucky?
@@GasGuzleroh it happens i guarantee it i own a 95 it started to happen
@@GasGuzlerI own a 89 that’s a southern truck and the only rust is the battery tray

It's 2WD, not much good for offroading.

Sold my 89’ f250 and regret it. 5.8 got like 12 mpg and was slow as hell but would pull a house down haha great truck miss it
dont underestimate the 351 it is good
You are like the "Michael Reeves" of automotive mechanics on yt
New subscriber here , love the OBS, but man I love the Bullnose, which do you prefer?
@@johnny30127 I’ve always been an OBS guy, they’re the last “old school” truck that Ford made but still had some modern features.
At least one cylinder is not firing
Maybe give us a lesson on OBS and LED's, . the forums have me scared to death of using LED's.
302/351 efi one of the best engines ever made lol what are you talking about.good video tho

My dream is to buy an old square body 👌🏼
Cool VID
👍👍👌👌 You are an amateur videographer. Put the camera on a tripod and leave it there, instead of waving it around randomly.
The wiring on these are super easy.
Plugs are fowled or distributor cap.
Do I spot a four door truck in the background?
@@obsfordkustoms Maybe 🤫

Dude make longer videos
This thing needs a good set of plugs an wires .
is the lift new?

Yes sir
Yep
Why wouldn’t it?
Can u send me the link fir the fuel pump I need one for my front tank
If you go to LMC Truck they will probably have one on there
Please.
Dam just put fresh plugs an wires on it an fresh fuel . Your just hurting the engine worse by running it like that
Put some decent fuel in it and run it for a bit and that would go another 50,000 I bet
LOL sorry
It's crazy to what someone's video and doesn't know that it is missing real bad need spark plugs and wires
