      @@andreanderson9456 Nothing in your comment held Whitney accountable for her drug use prior to Bobby. Bobby may have been a bad influence, but who is to say she was a great one behind the scenes? Whitney had high standards, but Nipey was doing cocaine since 14 and didn't want to stop. Regardless of people like Robyn who decided to stop doing drugs while Whitney continued .

    I'm SOOO happy they convinced her to record Miracle, it's THE most underrated vocal from her prime years imo. It's vocally more complex than I Will Always Love You. It's also interesting that they wrote it from a totally different point of view, it never dawned on me that the song can also be interpreted as a break up song too until she mentioned that.

      @T.E. V. One thing I notice is that her fellow performers who were as equally talented but not properly promoted like Vesta Williams and Phyllis Hyman made off handed comments pertaining to people like Whitney and Michael who had crossover success and appeal. And do not misunderstand, I looooove me some Phyllis and Vesta, and miss them as I do Whitney, but I always felt their anger and resentment like it was Whitney's fault for her achievements was misguided and unfair. Maybe they weren't mad at her as much as they were toward the record companies. That was Clive's marketing and planning and imaging that Whitney went for. So you mean to tell me that nobody would want that kind of success that she had? Selling over 200,000,000 records worldwide? I know all money is not good money, as evidenced by Whitney's sadness and depression in the later stages of her career.

    • @ericwilliams5518

      It is now known that Clive Davis was in fact white washing Whitney by blocking songs that came in for her that he deemed to be too black. He allegedly blocked her from working with Quincy Jones and others as well. This is common in the music industry and in america period. Think corporate america. Tommy Matolla also didnt want Mariah to let any one know she was black because his goal was to create a white Whitney Houston. The industry was and still is all about pop cross over which is code for appealing to white people.

    • @opheliumzone4671
      @opheliumzone4671 3 роки тому +7

      I feel that Whitney's first album was beautiful and eclectic, with an R&B overtone, whereas by her second album the record company wanted to make her into a megastar and the whole production sounds pop. I can see why the black people made those comments. Her sound was just too commercial and aimed at selling millions of records, not quality music. Third album they toned it down but it's too heavily babyface for my liking, although I do love it. Third album is probably my favourite.
