Would love to see a Live Rig with unlimited budget with all the people that have done these videos so far.. maybe like 5-6k budget etc.. That would be so fun!
I play with a Bugera Infinitum V22, same exact amp. It is incredible. As advertised. I also have the ODR1 on my pedal board, with other different pedals, and a Mexican HSS Strat bought in 2008 for less than $300, in addition to a G&L S500 (strat). I have no complaints. None at all. Great video, men.
10:20 I have owned a Bugera 333XL for 10 years, with the original tubes still in it, gigged regularly as well! They are as reliable (or unreliable) as any other brand. If anything, the Infinium series are more reliable because they are self biasing and don't require a technician to bias your amp or reseat your tubes for you, dramatically reducing maintenance costs. Overall, great amps, great price, solid reliability. I've never had to use their customer service, so no clue what that's like, but honestly they're fantastic amps. I'd put the 6262 or the 333XL against just about any modern high gain amplifier. I think for the sound, price, and especially the infinium features, they're wonderful amps! I highly recommend them.
V22s are great. If you crank the master and leave the clean volume at 2 or 3, and then put drive pedals on top, it can sound fantastic. I used to use one for a gig that let me turn up pretty loud, and I rarely had an instance where I was unhappy with the tone. Best amp for 300-500.
Having seen them all I think John Connearns rig is outstanding. Superb Ibanez GIO, Valeton GP200 and Laney Cab just so much more versatile and sounds out of this world. Just great value for money.
The V22 has an FX loop. You need to put the delay and chorus in that and the JAFOs in front. And Voila! You have my gigging rig! (But add a tuner and a cheap wah pedal).
I'll play along. Here's my rig from your website: Spark Cab - $289, Valeton GP200 with bag $320, Sire S3 HSS in Red with Gator electric guitar bag $379. Total = $988 Great video gents!
I think I'd have a wholly different approach than all the guys so far. I'd take a ~200 Euro guitar (possibly ESP Ltd Viper) and a rather cheap mini/pedal amp (probably the Orange Terror Stamp or maybe the new Laney!) and then spend a bunch of money on a good cab. And then two, three pedals.
I’ve used my Bugera v55 head for years to gig with and it RIPS into a 2x12 with v30s. It’s held up for me all the way over here getting that Nashville flavored Telecaster tone.
PICKUP ANGLE ANSWER: humbucker cannot be angled as the each of the pickup poles in a humbucker would be slightly above and below the string therefore not optimally directly under the string whereas a single coil can be tilted for eq without losing its optimum position under the string itself.
Love these live rig videos! Glad we finally got to see the Captain choosing the live rig of his 1000 pound dreams. Thanks Anderton's for bringing great videos!
This regular content upload is joy every day. Loving this, gents! Surprised you didn't consider any Blackstar, they're excellent for little budget! Especially the little Debut series you recently reviewed, or the Silverline 20w!
I'm with Lee. Maybe it's not _quite_ as true anymore, but it's hard to go wrong when you get some tubes in there. Even if your amp is solid state, which, of course, can sound real good clean. Throw a tube overdrive pedal on there and drive _it_ with other pedals like ODRs and/or Tube Screamers (or their less-spendy clones) and *_BOOM!_* you're in the zone. I don't really like mono chorus, though, so I'd probably swap that for either a wah or a tuner and I'd put a delay on the board that didn't have modulation. As a guitarist from that faraway magical land called The Eighties, I probably would have at least tried if not selected that red HSS Kramer superstrat with the Floyd Rose that I saw on the page with the other HSS Strat-style guitars. There it is. Under a grand (UK Sterling) and wedding receptions, bar mitzvahs, company picnics and retirement parties, look out!
For the amp setup, I pick a Line6 pod express black into an electro-harmonix 44 magnum power amp pedal into a Marshall MX112R 80 watt cab. Then give me a Jackson JS32 DKY and I’m all set.
The Yamaha THR deserves a little more kudos than it got here comparing it to a Bugera. The THR is absolutely stacked with features, built like a tank, and sounds incredible. Bit more than a 'tiny little thing that sits on your desk'...
Yeah but it's 100 more dollars of you are buying new. I don't doubt the Yamaha is probably better built but for gig volumes I don't know if tbe thr is going to get to 100 dB very well
@@richardsmith9615 The THR. It did what it did well, being essentially a bluetooth speaker, but I wasn't keen on any of the tones and there is next to no customizability. If you're coming from a real amp and expect that experience don't buy it.
Regarding the angled humbucker in strats: Billie Joe Armstrong (Green Day) uses a modified (Fernandes) strat, with an angled humbucker in the bridge, an SH-4 (if I'm not mistaken, used to be a different pickup in their early years). Since then, Fender has made some custom for him, all with the same pickup mod. They also use/used some telecasters/esquires with, again, the same mod (primarily backup/give-away guitars). An even more famous, and iconic, guitar player who had the same was Eddie van Halen though (probably the inspiration for BJA).
Does anyone know which S type guitar will get you closest to the player strat in terms of feel and quality at a cheaper price point? Like between classic vibe, G&L tribute legacy and the sire s3, which will feel the nicest and sound the best and be most comparable to player strats?

the problem with HSS guitars for me is that a lot of them use 500k pots to suit the humbucker but that makes it a bit bright and thin for the singlecoil pickups, but its always a trade off because 250k pots will suit the singlecoils better but may make the humbucker lack a bit of treble.
