Seeing Justin is literally seeing my old guitar teacher after a couple of years. Much love to him, I should really check out his youtube every now and then :) (Justin if you read this, thank you for teaching me power chords about 15 years ago! )❤
It's awesome to see Justin here. The top 50 countdown of people who have influenced current players would be so interesting - Justin, Lee and Chappers, Rabea, Rick, TPS, etc. must be high on the list now.
Justin is the best. No words for his presence and lack of ego. He is a treasure. No ego. Just fun and infectious positivity...and a rare gift to the community.
Adore Justin. Back when I got my first place, I watched a video of his that came up in my recommendations. I went out the next day, bought a £40 Squire acoustic (still got it) and learned guitar. Fast forward to today and I play lead guitar in a band and write songs, all thanks to Justin really. Even now, if I can't work out a cover by ear, Justin is the number one guy I go to. :)
Brilliant point made by Justin with the physical connection between the guitar and yourself. If it feels good, the playing experience will always be more enjoyable. Irrespective of the price or name on the headstock 👍🏻 Excellent player and tutor. Class act 👍🏻👍🏻
Agreed. My Fender Highway One, the guitar I swore by, not at, for so many years, is currently in its case in my storage locker, usurped by the low-cost Jet JS 400 I took a chance on. As soon as I played that neck and felt the benefits of the rounded heel joint, I knew I’d found something special. Sure, I had to switch out the tuners (I always use Planet Waves locking anyway) and I upgraded the humbucker, but the connection was instantly there. I still love the Fender, and the versatility of having the humbucker aside, the jet is still on its stand ready for action.
Felt Lee directed Justin’s choices a bit too much. He said 60% on an amp and didn’t let him scroll beyond £500 amps………then directed his choice of everything else. Lee excusing himself having been told about it before but then carrying on doing it 😂😂😂😂
So cool! I’ve learned so many songs from Justin, on his UA-cam channel. It’s fun to see him in this setting and doing your 1000 quid rig challenge. Great video, thanks!
Excellent selection by Justin, you can tell he knows a bit about Guitars, Amps & Pedals...! No wonder he is an Excellent Teacher as well...! Thanks to Anderton's TV & The Captain for making & posting this video & of course to Mr. Justin Sandercoe for showing us how to pick gear on a budget....!
Wishing all the team at Andertons Music a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!! Another year done and dusted!! Your review videos and comparisons are just getting better and better, hope you can continue the high standard!!!!
Ah, the Renaissance man, Mr Sandercoe. Excellent! I always enjoy watching a master musician and teacher outside of their perceived environment. Thank you Capitan for a very entertaining and informative video.🫡
Every episode of this has me learning something new. Generally that something is what guests don't usually mention in regular videos, so keep them coming as they are all winners
very interesting. Justin choices are pretty clever and instructive: the good amp, the importance of the feeling with the guitar. Always a pleasure to learn something from a such cool guy. thanks and keep up the amazing job.
The Bugera V22 would have been a great choice here, it has a clean channel with massive headroom, built-in reverb and it sounds great. Loads of money left for pedals and guitar.
Great video ! That rig sounds fantastic, the guitar and amp combo is killer ! Mind you I think Justin could make anything sound great - fantastic guitar player
Great to see you working with Justin, he's the finest guitar teacher on the web and I have learned so much from him. My own feeling on this episode is that you could save money on a reverb pedal by buying a valve amp with inbuilt reverb. The Fender Blues Jr springs to mind. You can even get some nice natural overdriven tones by tuning up the volume, though I tend to use a Blues Driver so I don't need to change the amp settings when playing live.
Or instead of letting Lee hold the iPad, show us Justin walking around the shop and choose his own rig like they do with other Andertons employees in previous videos. This was easily one of the more frustrating videos to watch.
I received my Sire S3 today from Andertons. Unbelievable price point. Straight out the box, it is usable. No problem with the set up really. I might lower the action a tad, but on the whole very good. I bought it to gig with, as I don’t really want to take my US Strat out. If I had to say one thing, I’m not too enthusiastic about the pickups in the s3. But roll off the volume on the guitar and it chimes. I might change them out one day. But the whole point was to have a great value player that I won’t mind too much if it gets a few bruises. Great guitar
The parking outside the shop absolutely sucks. I think there are 3 spaces? You have to park down the road really. Good thing the shop itself is worth it.
When i had a guitar plecked recently, I was able to park in the road opposite. Unsually, if I am not in a hurry I park in town and walk out there. Might still get hit by the shop van though!
@@neighbourhoodmusician very much so. It is an Eastman AC322, a very good quality guitar but just lacking the finishing touch to the final set up. Had it for a year and figured what needed doing.
I think the Marshall Origin 20c is underrated and overlooked by so many. I have gigged with mine and use the onboard power soak (attenuator) at home to keep things sensible. Excellent pedal platform, relatively easy to transport and has options to run a further cab extension (I have run my 2 x 12 Zilla off it)... I really hope more people try this Marshall
The Hall of Fame 2 will be my next pedal purchase. I like the Katan 50's reverb but I still prefer to have the control at my feet and not be limited to on or off all the time, or changing between songs. Great video. Very informative from Justin.
Well, the Ibanez AZES40 really stood out. I have a 335 semi JSM by them and it is excellent. I never really looked at their Strat or Tele variations, but for only 249L that sounded exceptional. And it's nice to have a "humbucker" equivalent wired in. What this video absolutely reveals is the astronomical increase in the cost of pedals. I own three and I'm probably not buying any new ones anytime soon. (Yes, I am frugal) But I'm going to keep my eye on that guitar.
Pedals are clearly an addiction for gearheads. For the price of three pedals you can get a multi effects pedal board with hundreds of sounds. The individual pedals are soon to be a boomer anachronism, like record albums.
@@charliedillon1400 I agree. To stay under 1000, I would have chosen the Bassbreaker or the Vox, a cheap EQ pedal and maybe the Squier Paranormal Nashville that popped up for only 299 (reg 399). Plus had 100 or so left over for cables, stand and carfare.
This may well be the best guitar gear video out there. As long as you listen to everything Justin says and ignore everything Lee says. Lee has proven through hundreds of videos that he knows nothing about sound but a whole lot about using established myths to sell guitars. Justin is level headed, practical and experienced. He knows the sound of the guitar is insignificant compared to what happens to the signal after it has left the guitar. The only slight mistake was choosing a valve amp.
Here’s my recommended starter pack… 1 X Fender custom shop master built Jerry Garcia Alligator Stratocaster £18999 plus 2 x Magnatone Slash Signature 100 watt amp head and 4x12 cab amp bundle (to run in stereo)£7499 plus an Echo Fix EF-x2 tape echo £2275 …all for a lazy £36,272. If you are starting guitar, by the end of your life, you’ll spend that much anyway. Early pain, lifetime gain.
Sounds great. On a strict budget, there's the TC Electronic Cinders too, which sounds damn near as good as the Blues Driver, for 1/3 the price. Could squeeze the budget to just about £1000 for the Sire, Origin, HoF and Bucket Bridage with the Cinders. I got a Earthquaker Plumes and a BD-2 Waza, and I love both. But, if I had to choose only one, the Plumes is more versatile, with it's three settings. Especially if using a valve amp that can be boosted into good pre-amp crunch anyway. With a solid-state or modelling, maybe I'd go BD-2 Waza, it's more amp-like. My pick would probably be the b-stock Sire H7, Vox AC10 (in-built reverb) and Earthquaker Plumes. Or EHX Glove + TC Bucket Brigade to go very slightly over budget. My other pick choice might be Vox AC10c1, Squier J Mascis Jazzmaster and Behringer Super Fuzz FS-300 dual fuzz/boost. Because the boost mode into ac10c1 would give me overdrive, and the two fuzz tones are very different.
Justin (and Andy C) legends in the online, dvd and written guitar tutorials, its due to these wonderful blokes my wife and daughter absolutely hate 3 little birds and wild thing.
Just for fun.....instead of the Blues Driver & Hall Of Fame 2 pedals, i would be really happy with just using the NuX Cerberus (GBP249 @ Andertons) with the above Marshall Origin 20 & that Sire S3 (tho i would have gone for the HSS model & btw, Sire S7 HSS is my no 1 favourite low to mid budget gtr). I have both the Hall Of Fame 2 & the Blues Driver (& loads of other stomp boxes, digital & analog) but i also have the NuX Cerberus (which i plan to partner it with the new Boss IR2 "Amp In A Box" pedal, a near future purchase for me once its available in my country, Malaysia...). The price total of the Boss BD 2 & HOF 2 are almost the same with the Nux Cerberus but the Cerberus gives u 2 great sounding analog drives (Blues Breaker type OD & a distortion), a really, really good sounding modulations effects (3 types of chorus, one tremolo, one phaser & one Univibe), 3 good sounding delays, 3 reverbs (which sounds as good as the HOF 2), a clean boost (for solo), a switchable on or off IR cab, an effects loop, stereo or mono output, etc. The Nux Cerberus has loads of knobs without having to go into menus. U can play it like a typical "Tap Dancing" with all those fx as single stomps boxes style OR u can get asound u like & save it as presets (which is my preferences & with up to 128 presets), six footswitches, compact size..... But, again, these are just my 2 cents for the fun of it..... 😃😃

Justin's playing is off the charts tasty! And that origin sounded great with that Sire guitar. But wasn't a big fan of the combination with the blues driver. He should have gone with a klon copy from ehx or that sweet baby od from joyo or something
We all know his last name is Guitar.
😂😂😂
lol
What a coincidence that his last name is guitar and he ends up playing guitar for a living…I mean the odds must be astronomical! Lol.
nominative determinism at its finest
I am sure there is a "some say... but all we know is..." joke sequence right there.
Seeing Justin is literally seeing my old guitar teacher after a couple of years. Much love to him, I should really check out his youtube every now and then :)

This was great. Justin is such a melodic, natural player. A joy to listen to

Lee, don't be a control freak but we still love you.
hahaha when something sounds rubbish Lee must be thinking "how the hell am in going to sell these now"
Brb, going to drive around Andertons and brake sharply in front of an Andertons delivery van, see me on one of these videos soon ;)

Lee is choosing a rig for his guest episode 395
Well it's kinda tricky since 1000 pounds doesn't really give you that many options.
Love Justin! In this scenario I would have bypassed the amp, bought an HX Stomp and the Sire and had everything I need!
Love when you have Justin on. Great vid, but would've been nice to have a little jam at the end together.
Great video, love Justin’s playing.
The collab of collabs!

Thank you Justin for ratifying my choice of getting an S3 in the Black Friday sale. I really like it too!
Really interesting comments about the feel at 15:43.
Lee, you need to shut up a little bit when you have guests over
These videos are always better when they choose by walking through the store.
I love this series but has made me nervous about parking anywhere near the shop!

Haven't watched it yet but I'm going to call it.
Boss katana, classic vibe, some tone city and T.C.

Sire, as usual, brings down the house... 😊
Lot of sales going on here, let him play and let the gear speak for itself
That TC bucket brigade is exceptional 👌 brilliant value for money ! I want one
I'd love to see Josh Scott do this.
The Hall of Fame 2 will be my next pedal purchase. I like the Katan 50's reverb but I still prefer to have the control at my feet and not be limited to on or off all the time, or changing between songs.
Great video. Very informative from Justin.
Their Flashback Delay is great too…
the people want more blindfold guitar challenges
That Squier Strat-o-Sonic hands down. They are amazing guitars.
Ive been doing his online course for 2 years. Pretty certain that is the first time I have ever seen his hair.
I swear by the Blues Driver, it's worked on every amp I've played it through.
Plugins and multi fx are good but nothing beats a cranked valve amp. Its magical.
Great content as always, pls let the guy speak!
