people see the 500kg deadlift but dont see the dozen years of training that went into it. good work hafthor!
...01..
He had a few weeks training special to This after Arnolds and he was Always akward in deadlift suite. At 6'⁹ wow. He did it
ok????
Lifetime of training*
@Top Doge He's not wrong
Powerlifters: “So are you in the 1000lb club?”
Hafthor Bjornsson: “Which lift?”
Ray williams squattet 490kg with knee sleves in a meet, Jamal Browner deadlifted 440kg @110kg without straps in a meet. Powerlifters deserve more credit
@@RavagoreTv I think a lot of that is because of how diverse the strongman events are, and they look like total monsters
@@lightspamorochi766 Its the king of the total strength

Powerlifting is a fucking joke!!!
The way they arch their back and have ZERO ROM on the bench press... Ridiculous and insulting!

LMAO
He doesn't even look human standing there just before the 501 lift.
That first lift:
0% form
501% raw strength
Därför, raw strength, yes - raw equipped, no.
@Adam Dahlström DRe Tror det var mer för att snärta Eddie Hall på näsan hehe
@Adam Dahlström DRe Thor för min del, självdå?
Dude... that form in the first lift.. spine cracking..
Think Eddie Hall would call that "like a cat taking a shit"
Hes holding the bar not in sync... Hes left hand is much closer to the plates then his right hand... Could be an optical illusion but its seems like that...
Honestly makes it even more impressive that he sucked at first.
Man i know! I like that as much as the increase in strength, his technique went from being absolute dog shite ugly to being sweet as!
Quite incredible he managed to lift it with that "form".
1:42 - the secret of a heavy deadlift is to have a topless Larry wheels cheering on you.
Haha
@summit higley Thor is Mountain(6.9") , He can only be Dwarfed by *Oliver Ritchers* The Dutch Giant(7.2" Guy) or a taller Guy.
Ayo?
Repent and trust in Jesus. We all deserve Hell for our sins, such as lying lusting coveting and more. We can't save ourselves, but Jesus can save us. He died on the cross to save us for our sins and rose from the grave defeating death and Hell. You must put your faith in him only. He is the only way to Heaven. Repent and trust in Jesus.

That 7th place finish really hit me hard. Man went from 7th to 1st bc of hard work, determination, and consistency...inspirational
You *must* listen to Thor's interview with Arnold Schwarzenegger after he won his 3rd consecutive Arnold Strongman Classic.

The fact that he loved this comment made me an even bigger fan of him.

Ever since seeing your 501kg, I’ve been training to reach 250kg by the end of the year. Just reached 235kg today thanks to motivation from you. Always the best, always unbeatable. Rooting for you!
Good luck man! I believe in you!!!
@@Hafthorjulius so inspirational
Dude you have to do it now and post a video in this comment. You got this, we all know you can do it.
Haftor telling he believes in you is the fucking best preworkout you can have. 250 is also a goal to me, and realising it's only half the world record i feel small. But fuck it, let's fight for it
Damn bro the man himself responded, can't stop now.
The foot position and form on the first one shows talent. Horrible set up but still pulled a weight most can only dream about.
Everything from there shows the years of dedication and hard work. Amazing.
Most other lifters would damage their spine or something else lifting like that. You can see how good his body genetics are
Tons of respect to you and your family, it's time for a new chapter in your life, you got children to worry about now, and stories to tell them when they are older, thank you for being an inspiration to all of us.

@@Hafthorjulius Why did he say "one of the strongest"... THE strongest ever. Without question. Big Z and Brian Shaw are competition but nobody could beat 2020 Hafthor.
@@rabblerabbleRubble really? In think you should come back when he wins wsm another 3 or 4 times to enter in the same league as brian ,big z and marius lol ..Big z is guy who has done this for 20 years and won many competition over the years and add 4 WSM title to his name and he is the strongest presser ever ... Brian shaw on the other hand has 4 title as well and dont don't even get me started with what marius pudzianowski has achieve in this sport so all i am saying is halfthor is strongest but not the strongest of all time lol....... And one more thing your last line dose not make any sense when you say no one can beat him in 2020 lol its not about being strongest one year or two year its about legacy how many years on the Top or dominance
@@niks7443 thats just your opinion, im with others that think thor in his prime was the strongest of all time and he smoked the competition, if he didnt cut his career short he woulve continued to dominate the sport for years
@@niks7443 It doesn't matter how many titles you win - all that does it say that you were better than the competition. Big Z is the most successful strongman ever, but Hafthor (in my opinion) is the strongest ever. I think prime Big Z would lose to prime Hafthor. Pudzianowski was a great athlete and a great ambassador for strongman but he isn't in league with these guys.
The physique progress over the years was impressive too. Thor went from being big to being a giant.
I watched this video so many times, but i can't stop watching this video again and again, amazing

What you have acheived in those 11 years of extremely hard work is nothing less than impressive. My biggest respect to you Thor.
Wish you continue on lifting competitions. Your an inspiration to us to lift heavy weights hapfor! 💪🏋️♂️👌
The first lift shows how genetically gifted the guy is. Training for a short period of time and hardly knowing proper form and getting 300 kg.
I'm not sure how old he was or how much he weighed but if it's anywhere near the 200kg he weighs now, it really wasn't an impressive start to his strongman career.
@@ArtyCraftZ a 661 pound deadlift is incredibly impressive to start a strongman career no matter the weight.
@@Kyle111 300kg is very impressive for a man of average or even above average weight, but at 205kg that wasn't anywhere near even 2x bw.
@@ArtyCraftZ This isn't powerlifting, its all about maximum strength, irrespective of bodyweight
@@Lemmetry1234 Yet plenty of powerlifters 1/3rd of his weight can pull 300kg, that was my point. I'm not downplaying the nearly superhuman feat of deadlifting 501kg by saying that of course
Legendary stuff Hafthor , i've watched the vid of you lifting that 501 kg so many times, still can't get over how good your form was and how easily you lifted it.

I thought exactly the same when I watched the 501kg lift again. No idea if it's the camera angle or the clothing or just his sheer size in the last one, but he looks so freaking massive during the 501kg lift. I wonder what his BW was compared to the ones where he lifts around 470-480kg.

True
It's in Guinness book of world records though so you don't have to worry. Fak them
501Kg is still 501Kg. It doesn't matter where you lift it.
@@monkemaster1337 Well, plenty of STRONGMEN claim that they perform better in front of the crowd so... Your argument is invalid. Beside, the "competition" at which Eddie set the record wasn't really a competition. It was organised around Eddie, he was allowed to set the rules, it took place in his neighbourhood, his personal equipment was used. You have the right to criticize Hafthor but you can't deny that Eddie's record wasn't set in an objective way.
The improvement on technique is outstanding
