- The latest refreshed Toyota Hilux is in Toyota showrooms - we are fortunate to get not only a preview but also a short test drive in this great 4 x 4 truck. There are five 2.4 litre variants, with differing trims, but the one available to us was the 2.8 litre variant. Mechanically the same, the Black Edition refers to certain 'blacked' out areas of the grille and bumpers. Black over-fenders and new stripes give it a breath of freshness, and you now get BSM and an improved version of PVM.
Please note there is a small slip of the tongue at 7.00 - the ATRC applies brake on the slipping wheel to transfer drive to the other side of the axle. Thanks to Paul Si who pointed it out.
because of this video, i end up buying hilux 2.4... no regret... 😊
Great to hear that! Cheers!
@@YSKhongDriving Uncle, when will you test drive camry 2.5L gas spec? Expecting....
A very informative video from an experienced sifu. Good one sir
Nice model.. He narrates in a very clear English..
I've learnt something this morning .. I too will source for Hilux 4 pot calipers now !
Hahaha. We learn new things every day.
Thanks Mr Khong to do it at our showroom, best information. 👍🏻😁💕
Our friendly Neighbourhood Toyota Dealership!
So that was ur cute finger pressing on panoramic view camera button? 👆🏻
thank you for highlighting the brakes. most people pay no attention and do not notice that competition is specking cheap 2pot calipers! even most reviews and comparison tests do not mention the difference
Most card have a single pot floating caliper. These are the lowest cost items. Size of pad and disc, vented or not, will determine how well it works. Going 2, 4 or 6 pot are upmarket. Nowadays 4 pot are quite common. Hilux has 4 pot calipers.
This is my dream vehicle I love it
Thanks for the review Uncle Khong!
Very good job! Please keep up the good work!
Please make one for the Triton as well sir. That's the greatest dilemma for the new buyers. Both in same price stand and pretty much equal specs. Hearing it from you comparing these 2 trucks would be a great help. Cheers!
They gave yet to offer me a vehicle.
I love your English, it is very clear, as a Nigerian, I find it very familiar.
Wow! Welcome to our channel! Thank you for watching!
Uncle,ur english is very nice. Easy for me to understand...thank youuu
You are welcome
Very clear and detailed explanations
very good review keep up the good work sir. very informative.
Have speed Control as well, it's can mantain the speed, very useful when we drive on highway,😅 under the steering wheel,it's true top speed can reach 190kmh easier, btw good review😅
What a coincidence that you feature a pick up truck. While im riding a ford ranger back to KV from Melaka.
Hahaha, yes. So are you buying the Hilux?
@@YSKhongDrivinghaha no la, the ford ranger belongs to a friend of mine. His into "macho" type of cars. Even wrapped it matte black and change to a larger tyre profile.
Bet it looks good too. Imagine a black Black Edition! Really Macho too!
You missed that they reconfigured the rear leaf suspension to make it more comfortable with no weight in the back makes quite a difference
This was not told to me so I didn't know. I am still not sure it has even been done.
Any car can sell with toyota logo.
My next vehicle. I'm sold.
sangat detail,terbaik bang.
Very good explaining 😊.
Thank you. Great job 👌
Good review!! Appreciate it !! Thanks
Thanks. And welcome to our channel.
Hello Sir. I am now in South Africa for my son’s wedding and waiting to another night to fly back to Sydney. Originally I am from Singapore. I will eventually retire in the Philippines with my wife. I think I have made up my mind which truck to purchase when we are there. Because of your experience in rally driving, and you also have a Hilux in the background, the Hilux is a definite decision. Thank you for your wise advise Sir. Cheers!
Glad we could help.
Best explanation Sifu 👍
Toyota all the way
4:00 the simple things is known as GAS Spring, just a set of piston like assembly fill with high pressurized inert Gas.
Shock absorber, damper, gas damper, gas spring. Thank you.
I subscribe your channel because i really enjoy watch the way u review the car ....
Thank you.
Good review sir, thank you
Finally a review in English.
Really? I am sure there are plenty.
I have been checking several videos.
Hilux 💪.TOYOTA MOVING FORWARD 💞👍
Myvi G3 GT .. I'm looking forward you to share , uphill to Genting Highlands ... you're my idola driver . Stay safe Sir 😷
I just ordered one! 🥂
Congrats Dr, l get mine Tuesday 09/06/20, cant wait 🍾🎉💥💃🏾
Good review!
Thanks for the informative review Mr. Khong. Planning to get a Hilux to do the Grey Nomad pilgrimage in Oz. Hopefully the DPF issue would be sorted out by Toyota soon.
Hi CH Khong - is there a current issue with the DPF filter? We are now t aware of it here.
ua-cam.com/video/VmvAwjE2gg4/v-deo.html. if you will, please have a look. Be warned it is very Australian style entertainment.
Black smoke edition from faulty DPF
Hi, are you from OZ? The new engines have all quit smoking, LOL. Anyway, welcome to our channel, and we hope you stay.
I got the 2.8 version. most likely feature is AMT and PVM👍👍.
but it cost me lot of money tho😌😌
True, nothing is cheap anymore.
yeah, but it worth of money. 👍
cosmetic bodykit, blindspot warning and rear cross traffic alert only
Not really a facelift just additional kits only. The real facelift comes with AEB and adaptive cruise control
We have no news of the items but do you know when that will happen, if at all?
Australia already have it. I highly doubt Malaysia will bring in though
Since Toyota refuse to import hilux from other countries ever since years ago. Yes hilux is made in Malaysia but sells at a CBU price tag 🤦♂️
AEB, adaptive cruise control, etc... New safety kit just released in Oz but even so not considered a facelift. Don't confuse people with the term "facelift", that was last year when Revo face was changed to Rocco (refer to Thai versions).
Moonface00z actually Hilux is cheaper here than in Oz. Loaded Hilux down under is over A$60k.
Yes, trucks are more expensive in OZ
Apart from its price, pls advise Hilux vs WildTrek. Which to choose. May need for long drive to tour around malaysia. Looking forward to your sharing. 😊
For a truck, reliability and durability is most important.
I drove one like this today, and now I want one! I just sold my hilux 2012 x-cab, so I need a new car..
Great!
Changing new shoes for 450nm isn't cheap too.. some 3-4k
Looks like their leaning towards a raptor/wildtrak look now. Awseome review though.
Thank you.
I don't if it's just me, I feel like he's doing a Tai Chi demo
Hahaha. Now that you mention it, yes. Thank you for watching.
Your very intelligent God Bless you , never stop sharing
Very good video and very detailed 👍🏽
Thank you sir
Hi uncle , i like ur video so much , i started watching when i decide to buy a pick up truck , and u just said when a car is making some minor change does it really mean tht they wanted to push the model and a new generation might be comming? Should i wait or consider the 2.8 rouge , tq
The Rogue is already out. Whatsapp me at 0163350609 if you want to buy. We sell cars on our channel too.
very good car
Japanese are very good in business
Hilux- Don’t forget to turn off ur ECO mode. It is very ignoring and cause the car like gearbox doesn’t talk to engine. Power loss alot. Must switch off: One on the ECO mode button and the other ECO mode at setting ECO (to select off).
Lifetime vehicle
Still need sand bags for long hway distance? before going off road 🤔
No, it's not that hard.
Very good review, you personally have the 2.4 or 2.8? I think you said that in the video. In Malaysia, Hilux is so much better than overrated T5 Ranger which was released in 2012, which means it was engineered somewhere in 2008-2011 during financial crisis recovery. Interior very cheap plastics. I had a 2013 3.2XLT, sold it after one year, Sime Darby AutoConnexion dealers are many steps behind UMW.
We have the 2.8. Prior to that we had 2 Rangers, the 07 XLT 2.5 lit 5 Speer Auto, then the 2013 2.2 XLT 6-speed. The range toppers always get the higher specs, but you are right about the financial crisis models. The current Ford Rangers are also very good in specs, and that is because they came out later. I also like the Raptor, which is the range topper.
Best truck to buy👌👌👌👌
Nothing much difference as compare with the L.E version. Just chrome to black.
Led headlamps
LED fork lamp as well.
I just hope that the brand new hilux will come soon to replace the current one together with new powerful engine, not forget of refreshing design n equip with high tech, cause this is the only way to keep them compete with the other competitors such as Triton, Ranger and Dmax which lately done so well. 😃
Actually durability and reliability are the main qualities truck owners want. Looking good helps but practicality always rules supreme when it comes to such vehicles.
@@YSKhongDriving indeed sir, i just wish to see toyota would produce a more stylish, high tech utes but still keeping the elements of durability and reliability. As mention before.. "no more boring cars"😁😁
Hahaha. Well, the new Camry looks great, and so does the Corolla. Let's hope it spreads. The Vios is long overdue for a replacement.
Uncle, is the mx-5 video coming soon?
Soon. It's in the queue
Awesome Review
Ooh nice
Nice review...
I wish Toyota will release this will all its guts & stuff in the Philippines on an LHD, of course!
Sorry we cannot help you there.
@@YSKhongDriving Hahaha! I understand!
It's just my wish anyway!
@@yengsabio5315 - I do have some friends in the Philippines motoring media. Perhaps they can help.
Like you reviews hope toyotA gives the same model in Pakistan
we don't get the best specd hiluxes here in the philippines! i got the high end 2.8 conquest 4x4 last year and it doesn't even have a reverse camera and driver seat adjustments are manual. and mind you, the seats are all fabric!
All these minor specs are up to the local distributors. Sometimes retail price level and market norms influence the decision to put stuff in or not.
What price tag it is carrying ? How long do you take to deliver ? Seems to be a good vehicle .
Please check with your Toyota dealer for the latest prices. There is a RCMO discount.
Nice one, thank you very much Mr. Khong..
U R welcome!
Allhamdullillah, they give Hand brake not electrical, succses Uncle
I also like mechanical handbrake!
Uncle, any significant different between hilux 2.8 and fortuner 2.8? In term of power, handling, comfort & etc., I'm in dilemma to buy hilux or fortuner
Fortuner is more comfortable since it is with coils, and also it is a SUV
@@YSKhongDriving thanks uncle, u r the best !!!
Uncle Khong, my fren keeps recommending hilux for my next car esp my mazda sedan mileage reaching an impressive 360,000km. Shud i wait the next generation one, which one will u recommend?
New Gen coming soon, I heard.
Hi YS Khong , im curious how to just turn on the car without starting it , i mean just turn on the radio and the meter.
Press the start button without stepping on brake pedal
@@YSKhongDriving tq uncle
Uncle Khong... In future, perhaps you should consider saying 'rear side' instead of 'back side'... 6:02.
Hahaha, noted, but back side is more cute tho, hahaha. I will try to remember.
Does Toyota comes standard with lock differential, in your market, also does you have the lc70 land cruiser .
Yes, and No.
i like ur english lah uncle.... so understandable...
fresh from the oven ...yum yum
Shall I buy this or wait for the 2020 new hilux (is there any?)?
In my opinion, trucks are quite basic machines and do not change much. So if you want one, you can buy it now. Not sure of there is a new model, but usually the life cycle is longer than that of a car.
Hilux 2.8 my choice... Best...
Wow easy to get 200km/hr.
Top speed? Thanks 🙏
About 190
@@YSKhongDriving Thanks ya 🙏
Good nice truck Toyota hilux pick up best
Tq so much sir.
When Malaysia Hilux Revo will have Toyota Safety Sense?
No news at the moment, and probably not needed here.
Mr.Khong hilux 2.4 and 2.8 which is more fuel efficient?
I think the 2.8 might be more efficient.
done booking hilux 2.8 BE
When will it be in USA 🇺🇸 🤔
I think it is there, but possibly a newer version by now. Look for the Rocco or Rogue.
Please I am very much interested in this car and i want to buy it how do I contact you sir, I am looking for the black colour version

The Raptor is a different animal. Also costs RM60 k more. If I can afford it, I will buy the Raptor.
Kool Truck...
OMG! Ae u really start the car inside the showroom?
Just a few minutes and doors were open.
What is The back suspension use ??
4 link trailing arms with a panhard rod, leaf springs and shock absorbers.
How much?
At time of video, no price. Now, you have to go to their website or visit a dealer.
The price please.
Around RM146k
You have a very nice fingernails at 4.35m. :).
super aaa
This 2.8 Black Edition and the current 2.8 L-Edition which one is cheaper?
Black is a little more - it gets BSM ( blind spot monitor) and an improved PVM ( Panasonic view monitor) plus a few other details. I like the new rims, more aggressive look. And the little absorber for the tail gate.
@@YSKhongDriving Panoramic View Monitor I presume. The media monitor must be a toyota brand sourced on unknown OEM.
YS Khong Driving PVM and tailgate assist now part of free promo package for L Edition, so these are not unique to Black Edition. I just placed order for 2.8 L Edition (huge discount!)
@@ST-wi9eq how much discount you got boss. planning get one this month.
feel free to send me the salesman contact details please. 016-536 2600
YS - just saw a clip on you being pulled over In Nz. You should make a video clarifying your position. I’m sure if you were of diff skin color and accent, a warning would have been served.
That's interesting - can you send me the link?
YS Khong Driving sorry I may have mistook you for someone in this video. www.reddit.com/r/malaysia/comments/epixd7/self_proclaimed_former_malaysian_gran_prix/?
Keep doing all the great videos and I love how your narrate the performance of the car. Actually have you thought about doing car reviews while stuck in jams to check on noise, comfort and what else can the drivers do while stuck in horrible Klang Valley jams? Thanks and have a great Chinese New year
Ok, all of you who are following this thread: please watch the video and verify the identity for yourself.
I am definitely more handsome. And by the way, that guy is not a Gran Prix Champion - because if he was I would know him. Many people claim many things.
YS Khong Driving hahaha indeed you’re much better looking. A case of gross mistaken identity on my end. If given a chance I would love to tag along one of your adventures up the slops of “cloud top” one of these days! Keeping my fingers crossed!
Is this car available in the middle east?
Should be, or at least a variant of it.
hais.... when u see he want to say the rear wheel component he paused:) Drum lol he paused before saying...DRUM...
Sweet
I choose toyota sir tq for your intro
Black edition with white body??
Yes, watch the video.
Hilux 2019 or ford ranger 2019?
Ford for style, Hilux for reliability.
@@YSKhongDriving thanks.
How about Triton?
@@thamks buy triton if hilux is outof stock i guess... 🤭

Why the hell dont we have this car in USA... I'm going to buy one and put a Tacoma body ontop and drive it in
Good question. I thought you had it there as well. Hmmmm...
It's so hot from the oven, it will burn a great big hole in your wallet 😂😂
I donno about the hole in your pocket. Depends on how deep your pocket is, hahaha. But seriously, it is hot - this is truly the first review here. At the time of review, the price was not even out yet. But thanks for watching, and your comments are welcome, anytime.
@@YSKhongDriving here in Australia, our pockets don't need to be so deep as opposed to Malaysia, where car prices seem to be double. Nice review btw, great advertisement for Toyota hahaha 💁♂️ all best to you and your show.
Hi, Mr H, glad to have you on board. I travel to OZ occasionally - which part are you from? And thanks for watching.
