As for a workhorse, it can do the job, i have the 2014 hilux, sometimes i put in 20 bags of 40kg cement or some heavy stuff. While the comfort and “drivability” is a huge step up from the LR TD5, the road handling is really bad: I think it would be better with full time 4x4 and a lockable central differential.

Hi, great video. I’m looking for a Hilux but I’m not sure if a crew cab is for me as like you I carry goods far more often than passengers. I wish that Toyota will someday build one midsize Pick-Up Truck for the different markets an named them different or even same... I do like the actual styling of the Hilux much more than before.. But the Toyota Tacoma of USA looks even better. So my hope is, that they will build one truck and called it different. Tacoma for USA and Hilux for the rest of the world. But the engine options should be the same all over the world. And I hope, we will see some patrol engines in Pick-Up trucks even here in Europe.. But for this moment, I think that the actual Hilux looks better than ever.. Now that should give him some more of the tech of the Tacoma and a more styled interior and it would be a better VW Amarok and Co Fighter..
This car is for you Brian to go alone in the woods ! It was interesting to see you with this monster in City Munich! looking for a parking space ohh I'll forget you park in the woods!
Did you really say 74,000miles in one year?! Here I am thinking my commute was bad! Does Toyota sell the Tacoma in Europe? If so, I'd love to see it compared against the Hilux.
Would the Hi-Lux be compatible with the US Toyota Tacoma? Or the much larger Toyota Tundra which is more the size of FORD F-150 or Chevy Silverado in the USA. ?
I know manufacturers like to give journalists the top trim editions. But is an option for you to get what Brian named as the better and more logical choice, a more of an entry level edition? Not to repeat what Brian said, but it's a utilitarian vehicle, and in the top trim a lot of details are still not what you'd expect.
Like this channel and the depth of the reviews. However their is generally a lot of stuffiness and nit picking over the small details of non premium vehicles whilst simultaneosly gushing over others costing 3 or 4 times more. Come on guys don't make it quite so obvious which companies are paying the bills.
as much as i love this truck, i cant but point out severral mistakes like the power button does nt do nothing special but only raises the engine in its sweet spot were the most touque and power is, eco is exactly the opposite which puts the engine in lower revs. and by the way this example is a diesel not petrol @32.20.
Excellent review . I own a 2017 hilux double cab 2.4 diesel manual . Drove both manual and auto before deciding. auto was terrible tbh manual very light and easy to use so opted for that . Engine refined but lacking power tbh needing the 2.8 diesel in uk !
What diesel beast are you talking about for the Hilux? You're not talking about the 4.5L V8 TD are you? I have the 2.8L engine in my Hilux and its really comfortable to drive. I'm not sure a larger engine would be needed.
Good review "finally something that's built for us with short legs" lol - literally everywhere is built for short people. Being tall almost everywhere is uncomfortable.

Did you really say that you need a very solid lever on the gearbox because you want to be able to bang it? I mean this is an automatic. I mostly aggree with everything you said, but you made me ask, What do you want to bang on with an automatic transmission?
Good job 👍💪
16:37 "our beautiful camera man" LOL
I am buying a new toyota hilux single cab and I cannot find a review on it.can you do 1 on it . Thanks
09:05 I hope these young reviewers take notes
This car is for you Brian to go alone in the woods ! It was interesting to see you with this monster in City Munich! looking for a parking space ohh I'll forget you park in the woods!
The most popular car in Australia. And in Australia it's called a ute not a pickup.Pickups are a North American thing.
Hilux is smaller
is the 2WD mode front or rear?
rear
I know manufacturers like to give journalists the top trim editions. But is an option for you to get what Brian named as the better and more logical choice, a more of an entry level edition? Not to repeat what Brian said, but it's a utilitarian vehicle, and in the top trim a lot of details are still not what you'd expect.
Great truck but after 2 years rusty chassis and heated seats are crap I never notice that they are on lol
Well Done!
Like this channel and the depth of the reviews. However their is generally a lot of stuffiness and nit picking over the small details of non premium vehicles whilst simultaneosly gushing over others costing 3 or 4 times more. Come on guys don't make it quite so obvious which companies are paying the bills.
I think you mean disengage manual freewheeling hubs on the front wheels very different from a diff lock.
as much as i love this truck, i cant but point out severral mistakes like the power button does nt do nothing special but only raises the engine in its sweet spot were the most touque and power is, eco is exactly the opposite which puts the engine in lower revs. and by the way this example is a diesel not petrol @32.20.
Hilux Dakar edition is awesome
How 2.4 is doing on highway?
triton 2019? vs Hilux 2019?
Triton is better. The only bad thing about it are small brakepads but that you can easily fix.
amazing video....
thanks !!
Excellent review . I own a 2017 hilux double cab 2.4 diesel manual . Drove both manual and auto before deciding. auto was terrible tbh manual very light and easy to use so opted for that . Engine refined but lacking power tbh needing the 2.8 diesel in uk !
VW Amarok comes to mind when talking about more comfy/frugal on fuel pickup..any chance for comparison video betweenthe two?
What diesel beast are you talking about for the Hilux? You're not talking about the 4.5L V8 TD are you?
I have the 2.8L engine in my Hilux and its really comfortable to drive. I'm not sure a larger engine would be needed.
I don’t think 4.5 v8 diesel will fit in the engine bay
I think the hilux is amazing just wish it had apple carplay, android auto and wish they could make it faster that would be cool
Good review
"finally something that's built for us with short legs" lol - literally everywhere is built for short people. Being tall almost everywhere is uncomfortable.
Very nice presentation 👌👌👌👌
Thanks :)
Honest Review...
👌
Isn't this type of car best with a manual though?
Drove one for two years as a work car, miss it already.
Many double cabs are family cars in Hilux home markets
you guys should review the new ford ranger wildtrak biturbo
Its amazing
I also think Biturbo is better than 2.4 or 2.8 Hilux
Fords are not reliable. The ranger's transmission is very faulty. It handles well though
Ford Ranger is scrap
Can you compare past car engineer with me? I designed these vehicles or cars but I made everything for future and some people doesn't like my work.... they stronger than cars before... Thanks to people
It’s not just your taste Brian. It’s a totally unacceptable infotainment system for 2019 for anyone. Don’t let them off.
Agreed. And in 10 years time that thing will be hopelessly outdated, let alone 20 or 30 years when the rest of this durable truck is still running okay.
I think the older hilux had more cabin space... i tested my friend truck like that n the cabin space sucks.. i am 1.98m or 6'5"
It needs hoods like land cruiser 200. Should looks more aggressive.
The body pretty much looks like toyota tacoma. Does Hilux have crawl control?
Yes, only in auto. Australian model calls it down hill assist.
@@Andrew-1974 But crawl control we used when it stuck in deep mud, not just down hill
what country is this?
