Loved my AirPods Pro but won’t go back to them since I purchased the AirPods 3, the sound is amazing and the battery life blew my mind. The charging case is quick to charge, this is what I wanted with AirPods and finally we got it
Loving the AP3’s! They fit my ears perfectly and are super comfortable. Tweaked the EQ to ‘rock’ and the Tune Audio setting to ‘balanced tone/moderate.’ Great review mate.
I will start off by saying sound quality is subjective and everyone hears a little different. I am reminded of this everyday as an Audiologist. One should always listen and judge for themselves, especially with devices that cannot be customized or adjusted for personal preferences. Now, I will say that I personally agree with your assessment. I had the Pros and gave them a shot. I returned them because even at the discounted price of $179 noise reduction didn’t supersede sound quality of the low end and the discomfort. I received my AP3 and I am very happy with them from the fit to the fuller sound quality. I feel that AP3 could end up being that sweet spot for many unless your primary reason is to have noise reduction. The only reason to go Pro now in my opinion seems to be noise reduction and not sound quality. Again this is still subjective and based on my experience. You need to compare yourself.
You know, I'm glad you said what you did about ANC for the Pros, or for any earbuds with that feature. Listening to music with noise cancellation activated does change its character, sometimes quite dramatically. I will use it if I just have to be listening to music in a noisy environment but otherwise, sound quality is way better overall without ANC on. With it on, music can be indistinct and muddy - almost like it's trying to overcompensate for something that's missing when it's activated and it just makes it sound worse. Thanks for pointing that out.
Guess I’m one of the few listeners and audio engineers that actually likes Spatial Audio/Dolby Atmos 😂 That being said, how good it sounds really depends on how well original stereo mix was adapted to Atmos. I’ve heard good and bad examples of this, but Atmos mixes can and will get better over time, seem less gimmicky, and become more enjoyable.
I’ve been thinking of upgrading too, the silicone ear tips are just uncomfortable and the sensors are half broken. My parents got the 3rd gen and I tried them, it was amazing! I recommend switching if you have the money, you won’t doubt it.
Bonus points for playing ‘A Glowing Light, A Promise’ from Makeup and Vanity Set, 88:88 is one of my favorite albums, it’s definitely something I can play from start to end and it’s just perfect to me. 👍🏽

I have the AirPods (2nd gen) and the AirPods Pro. Got the Pros because of the active noise cancelling, but after an hour or so, I need to take them off. Even with the smaller silicon tip, they bother me. The active noise cancelling was a big plus when I was working from home, but now, I rarely use them. Might end up selling them and upgrading to the AirPods 3.
I switched from the pro to gen 3. The battery life is the number one reason and I don’t even use noise cancelation after it was downgraded in a patch. The second reason is the rubber tips don’t fit in my ears well and the third reason is they actually sound better. I listen to metal music and the pros have a wired crackling sound like there is distortion and that does not happen on the gen 3 at all. I am very happy with them.
Wow, just earned a sub. You are funny and authentic. I’ve tried every darn silicone tip buds and they just don’t work for me. My left ear has some type of auto- rejection policy - they just don’t work for me. Been sporting the AirPods 2 for a year and have the 3’s coming tomorrow - sounds like a nice upgrade.
From my experience, I hate when wearing AirPods Pro and I start to smile, they feel like they're going to fall out any second and I have to readjust them. But at the same time, those silicon tips give me peace of mind that my AirPods aren't going to be clogged up with dirt, ear wax and other shit after a few years like regular AirPods. And don't tell me "just clean your ears bruh". Everyone's ear is different and everyone naturally produces that ear wax in different quantities, it's impossible to avoid it completely, so naturally after some time regular AirPods will just become unusable, while with AirPods Pros you can take off the silicon tips and clean them or even replace them altogether. The AirPods Max is still the king though.
I was worried about the wax too, but the AirPods 3 don’t go deeper in your ear canal, so I think that with a little care cleaning they will be just fine.
It depends on the ear. You can’t apply a blanket statement and say the Pros give you an underwater/clogged feeling…they don’t for me, or a lot of other people.
Awesome review Patrick. I agree totally with your comments on noise-canceling in general, and silicone tips were never an option for me. My only concern is, that I have heard that the third generation feels larger than the generation 2. Any comments on this?

The fact you have had problems with AirPods Pro 2 is no surprise. I have an 27" iMac, M1 iPad Pro 12.9 and Apple Pencil, iPhone 12 Pro Max, Apple Watch 4, AirPods 2 and 3, AirPods Pro 1 and 2, HomePod, HomePod Mini, Apple Music, Apple TV and probably a couple of other Apple products I've forgotten about. EVERY SINGLE DAY of my life (for the last 4-5 years) I deal with some new problem with one of my Apple devices and loose anywhere from 15 minutes to 5 hours of my life (that I'll never get back). After more than a decade of dealing with their deteriorating products and services I now DESPISE this company with a passion. P.s. I used (and compared) the AirPods Pro 2 and the Bose QC 2 Earbuds on a 12 hour flight to Thailand. The AirPods Pro 2 utterly destroyed the the Bose QC2 for noise cancellation, sound quality and comfort. I have some hearing loss and it may just be that the Pro2's work better in the hearing ranges that I hear best but, that said, QC2 were returned the moment I got home. Pps. Why am I praising the AirPods Pro 2 when I "despise" the company? It's simple...Apple stuff is great, when it works. The problem is that you can't rely on it to work and the fact that it "just works"... only MOST of the time, is not acceptable to me (considering the premium you pay to own Apple products).
@@impatrickt to me at least the pods 3 do not sound better than the pros. In anyway. At all. The rest of the videos was very good. Keep up the good work.
I recently bought some Sony earbuds and they sound so much better and they fit so much better that I am wondering why people keep buying airpods. But I guess every ear is different 🤔
Take the tips out and the Pros becomes airpods 3 and they work great. I don't see any reason (other than say a bit improved battery) to buy the airpods 3 since they are almost same price as Airpods Pro right now. Either there is a newer version of Airpods Pro right down the corner or the price of Airpods 3 is suppose to drop soon when the novelty has worn off.
Tips off the pros sound atrocious. They tuned the drivers to require the tips. Price won’t change on the 3’s. Couldn’t care less about the next pros if they still use the tips. Feel like pure ass shoved into your own ass and then inside your ear.
audio is subjective - as is comfort. but most people ive talked to prefer the 3's. if ANC isn't an issue for you, go 3's they legitimately sound better. I thought Linus had a good take too.

listened to my buddies today, can confirm the sound is so much clearer and more enjoyable on the AirPods 3. I think in an ideal world I would rock these and an over ear set for ANC. But as it stands ill rock my underwater headset ;P
I have them as well I get like 2 hours of music out of them Almost 1 hour max if we are talking about phon calls (I guess the microphone uses more battery)
I got the Pros April 2020 and I never thought that they sounded like $250 worth. More like $150 idk. So I got the airpod 3s yesterday and while they’re on the expensive side as well, I am impressed! Also, I don’t really use ANC because of the pressure feeling like you mentioned. Great video and new sub bro
I think these are a good idea. Too bad I just bought v2. I’ve owned the pros for a while and I hate the silicone too. Comply tips changed everything. While I appreciate this form factor without the plugs the noise cancellation is a must in certain situations. For me, the pros can’t be replaced in a situation like flying. Too noisy without cancellation.
I think spatial audio is amazing for listening to music (not Dolby atmos) you can now use it for any song and it really does a good job of separating and creating a nice sound stage

I have airpods 3 and airpods pro! Just take the earbuds and i got them
The new pros are coming out and that would be a more fair comparison.
No
I literally just got them, but they fall out of my ear very quick😭 But I can’t send them retour ‘bc of hygiene’ like, on the internet you can buy secondhand AirPods and they are cleaned, so bullshit. They are still clean or just clean them and resell them with a Discount😒 Bought them at Mediamarkt.
Update: I lied a bit and I got to return them in the store😅
gotta check those return policies before you buy anything. apple would have taken them back.
@@impatrickt Luckily I could return them!! I just putted it back in the plastic cover and said I just opened the box but didn’t wear them! I don’t like lying but in this case I don’t mind it😅🙈
3s doesnt sound better than airpods pros..cmon
ah yes I made everything up. I actually work for apple. got you!
Seems like ya using cinematic mode.

Cheaper is what gets me lmao.
Watching this video with the AirPods 3 😂
noway , icant live without noise cancellation
I can

@@impatrickt to me at least the pods 3 do not sound better than the pros. In anyway. At all. The rest of the videos was very good. Keep up the good work.

AirPods 3 > AirPods Pro & Beats fit pro
Gave a like at 0:37 😂
Dude, test these outside
Did you watch the video
I recently bought some Sony earbuds and they sound so much better and they fit so much better that I am wondering why people keep buying airpods. But I guess every ear is different 🤔
Because Airpods are better integrated in the Apple ecosystem and during phone calls the mic sound is crystal clear
@@rafikz77 I get the first reason, the second is debatable (for me the sound of the airpods is way worse than the Sony and I have both)
Because Apple is just the best with everything they do I just love the ecosystem it’s lit.
the Sony mic quality is monumentally worse than AirPods
@@impatrickt it helps for commercial spam calls 😁
@@impatrickt No Influencer/Salesman has said Apple is selling Ass when it comes to Airpods pro in their videos (including you).
🫶🏿❤️
if u look at the chapters of the video, he goes from talking about Airpods 3 to bill gates in 30 seconds 😂
On purpose
your opinion is so different than other people lol. now i dont know whats true
audio is subjective - as is comfort. but most people ive talked to prefer the 3's. if ANC isn't an issue for you, go 3's they legitimately sound better.
I thought Linus had a good take too.
@@impatrickt I'll watch his video too. Thankyou. Just bought my first iPhone. It will arrive this month. If I like the iPhone I'll buy a pair of airpods 3 or pro's.

After watching so many reviews, you’re the first person who emphasized the difference between the Pro’s ANC vs the 3’s audio quality w/o ANC. You helped decide to go for the 3’s. Thanks a lot man.
Ya me too I probably have watched 50 reviews until I came across this one it was very informative and good comparison I am trying to fuiger out which one to buy and I am definitely getting the AP3’s
I found a good deal for the AirPods Pro’s and decided to go with them instead lol. Otherwise I would’ve picked up the 3’s, but can’t say I’m not happy with the Pros.
listened to my buddies today, can confirm the sound is so much clearer and more enjoyable on the AirPods 3. I think in an ideal world I would rock these and an over ear set for ANC. But as it stands ill rock my underwater headset ;P
“Haha yes AirPods Pro suck!!”
- Me listening on my 1st gen AirPods that I’ve had since 2017
I have them as well
I get like 2 hours of music out of them
Almost 1 hour max if we are talking about phon calls (I guess the microphone uses more battery)
Right on! Enjoy the new AirPods.
Airpods 3 sounds better than Pro?
@@rafaelreyes2444 did you watch the video lol
@@rafaelreyes2444 I wouldn’t say better but almost identical
I think these are a good idea. Too bad I just bought v2. I’ve owned the pros for a while and I hate the silicone too. Comply tips changed everything. While I appreciate this form factor without the plugs the noise cancellation is a must in certain situations.
For me, the pros can’t be replaced in a situation like flying. Too noisy without cancellation.
I think spatial audio is amazing for listening to music (not Dolby atmos) you can now use it for any song and it really does a good job of separating and creating a nice sound stage
I don't think so
Yes
My left air pod pro crackles like crazy, didn’t realize I could possibly get them replaced? I’d opt for the air pod 3’s but the non silicone tips don’t stay in my ears, ever.
I have both. The AirPod 3 sound much better. Clearer fuller bass.
agreed!
I’m new to the apple ecosystem, I bought my first iPhone (the XR) and bought me some gen 2s to go with it, I’m loving them and I have been indecisive on an upgrade. Your evaluation of the both have made me decide on getting an upgrade to the ap 3s
