One design issue I think, is you squeeze the stem and click it twice to advance your songs. On 3rd gen you tap the large speaker. The difference is by grabbing the stem each time, you tend to loosen the bud fit in your ear. Not always, but the bud falls out a few times while running. The old tap to change never had that problem for me. I would not have changed that tap function. That said, the newer Pro version sticks in the ear, almost airtight if you want that. Spatial Audio with music is hit or miss because the original recording weren’t recorded for spatial audio (in the same way recordings originally made in Mono often sound not as great when up mixed to stereo). Now that spatial audio is being more widely adopted, I think you will see artists mix their albums with spatial audio/Dolby atmos in mind. Also, spatial audio works better with some types of music better than others. In rock/metal, there is an intended wall of sound to create a rocking sound - separating the instruments weakens that wall of sound effect and makes it sound “thin.” For classical, R&B, Jazz, the spatial audio effect works more naturally.
Cant compare while both paired to the iPhone, I noticed that sound quality is slightly degraded and you’ll have a harder time picking out sound differences while AB comparing them.
@@LaidBackDeveloper Im not sure where he got that from, you can get 2 sets for $8, so its $2 per tip which is reasonable because of their weird hard snap design

These really piqued my interest. Been using gen 1 AirPods daily for a few years. They’ve seen better days and I have been looking to upgrade but I hate silicone tipped headphones so never wanted to get the pros
I just upgraded to these and I love how they are low profile but the bud is a bit wider. Unlike the first gen’s which are a bit more angled so they don’t fit as well in my ear. They kind of feel like they are floating. If you like the fit from the original AirPods just know these fit different.
Honestly you can get airpod pros for 190-200 dollars quite often on amazon or best buy, so I don't really see a reason to ever buy the standard version over the pros.
Biggest difference is the silicone tips. Personally I find the silicone tips really uncomfortable and have no issue with gen 1 style falling out , might just be the shape of my ears
@@Ronaldihldo have you tried all the different sizes? Because he regular AirPods fit great in my ears but the pros are just so much more comfortable for long periods

Spatial audio is great for some things and terrible for others. I would recomend trying it out just to see what it is like. Usually music doesn't go soo well with it, but some songs work great with it.
These were the perfect upgrade for me. My 1st gen Airpods were on the way out, I don't like in-ears. When I'm wearing earphones I don't want noise cancellation because I'm running and need to hear cars or I'm in the office and want to still hear someone if they call me. When I want ANC I have my Bose QC35. Initial impressions after a couple of days; the sound quality is so much better than my old ones! I like the Spatial audio but its a bit annoying cos sometimes I like the effect and sometimes I don't so I'm constantly having to pull my phone out if I have a playlist with different genre's. In typical Apple style it's one of those recommendations were if you are a couple of generations behind then the upgrade is worth it or if you are buying airpods for the first time. If you have the pro's or even a working 2nd gen you can just not bother until they break.
Fun fact about the headphone pocket: it was originally made for your pocketwatch on a chain. For me, I put my keys in there (attached to my LTT lanyard and my belt)

I suffer from chronic tinnitus and got these when they came out(had the standard wired ones). I cannot tell you how much they have helped me get to sleep at night.
The one thing I like about headphones with silicone tips is when you get a good seal, it almost seems like it helps with the low end (bass) and make it sound fuller. Also, I love dbrand. Their "I don't give an F&%$" attitude is the best. 🤣

I prefer to keep it in my wallet tbh, I rarely ever carry any coins so the coin compartment is perfect for picks. As for that small little pocket, I most commonly use it for the keyfob whenever I'm driving.

@@jimjamjon2285 This seems very likely. It can also be released near Christmas time as well so sales boom harder than usual, which isn't too unlikely but since they added magsafe to the pros and released Gen 3, makes it seem sort of plausible.
im in the EXACT same spot my lightning buds that came with my iPhone finally broke after 5 years, so I decided to look into AirPods pros, even though im really tempted I just feel like apple will release new airpods pros for the same price the second I buy the current gen ones lmao
The pros have been consistently sold, brand new, for $200 so really you are saving $20. I bought the pros recently for $200 on amazon after I tried my friend's pros and saw they do not fall out of my ear while the regular airpods do consistently fall out. I can't see the 3rd gen airpods improving staying in my ears as the tips are the things that save the pros from flying out. For spatial audio (non-fixed) they are SUCH a gimmick. When I first tried on the pros and it automatically had them enabled I was like "wow cool, it's like you are at a concert situation" but almost immediately out in the real world it's just the worst because I for one just want to listen to music normally. I never want to have it where only one side works because I made a left turn to cross the street and the spatial audio didn't recognize yet that it wasn't my head that moved but whole body and takes a few seconds to adjust.
You can disable head tracking in accessibility -> airpods -> head tracking. Then when you turn the spatial sound on, it will just sound like it has a bigger soundstage but without this annoying tracking and sound playing in only one airpod
I bought mine for 169 on Black Friday and I saw them less than a month ago at 179. Now they’re back permanently at 249 and the only change is the updated magsafe case
Weird that they aren't making this available to existing customers. I suppose as unrepairable as they are, it's probably time for most owners to refresh their purchase.
Hey Linus, if these are anything like the Pros, you can tweak the sound profile in Settings > Accessibility > Headphone Accommodations in addition to the stuff in the Bluetooth settings. The Pros even have tweaks to the ANC and Transparency mode that you can apply.
So Linus does know what the difference between noise cancelation and noise isolation is... Then why does LMG keep promoting Drop's MASSDROP X SENNHEISER PC37X headset using FALSE and MISLEADING information claiming that the mic has noise cancelation, which is obviously doesn't... It plugs to the computer via the 3.5mm jack. I'm bringing this up because I bought them thinking that they have noise cancelation and once I got them after spending several hours googling and talking with Sennheiser realising that it's all just false advertising from the Drop's side... LMG also has in their talking points that the headset has a noise canceling mic, which is false...
I love my AirPods Pro, but I had terrible luck at first. The right earbud went out twice within 2 years of owning them. Luckily Apple did the right thing and I sent them in and got 2 brand new buds for free. These have been working great so far.
As a born and raised New Yorker I have had to live with loud street noise, subway train noise, people constantly playing instruments in the station, etc. I just purchased the AirPods Pro over the AirPods 3 and now I don’t even realize there are drums being played about 10 feet away from me. I would spend $50 more if it meant getting noise cancellation. Plus the rubber tips are very secure for me but some people say they don’t feel right. This is a matter of preference but if you live with a decent amount of noise on a daily basis, I would absolutely recommend Pros.

It’s not just about ppl not liking the snug in ear feel, many ppl like myself have oddly shaped or just plain tiny ear holes that do NOT work with ANY ear bud tip. And yes I’ve tried them all. Yes yes even the foam ones and yes the smallest sized ones. I’m glad apple is continuing the non in-earnud AirPods
it can also be good enough if you're doing activities which need you to be semi-aware of your surroundings.
same here, airpods are the only headphones that stay in my ears, and even then the right one I usually have to adjust every once in a while because it slowly falls out
I've tried so many in ears with the rubber tips that I have lost count
@@barreltitor1419 The AirPods Pro’s have transparency mode for that.
@@gjmcgee transparency sounds different from having semi-passive noise isolation.
@@barreltitor1419 but it’s still easier to hear people with transparency mode on the pros then nothing on the normals. I have both and I have compared.
Linus's point about alligning airpods is interesting, I find that I always allign them on the charging pad, and struggle with my phone more often
I think it's not EQ really, it's the Dolby Atmos "3D space" algorithm
I mean, it's still EQ. But it's dynamically adjusted according to an HRTF
lol I don't know why people like their music muffled
@@naufalap AirPods are also used to watch movies. Spatial audio gives you a theater kind of effect.
@@stevedotwav no it's really not EQ, it's the spacial binaural rendering. EQ is a totally irrelevant because this can go on ALL frequency bands dynamically
@@adibonts
"Sounds reverberate off of objects near the sound source and the sound waves reach the listener from many different directions and sometimes reach the listener's ear canal directly. When the sound waves reach the listener, they are transformed by the listeners body. The ears, head, shoulders and even the torso contribute to HRTF. Most notably, the size and mass of the head, the shape of the ear, the length and diameter of the ear canal, and the dimensions of the oral and sinus cavities all manipulate the incoming sound waves by boosting some frequencies and attenuating others. These changes in the frequency profile of a sound help create a unique perspective and perception for the listener. These changes also help the listener pinpoint the location of the sound source"
'Boosting some frequencies and attenuating others'...huh, I wonder if you could sum that up in one word? Something that would affect how "equal" the frequencies are?
It is equalization that is calculated by a *H*ead *R*elated *T*ransfer *F*unction based on real-time proximity information from the UWB chips in the devices.
As a father of 3 I don’t like the Pros as they isolate me from my loved ones. With the regular (non noise canceling) version, I can hear is someone is talking to me.
It’s a choice for artists to get on board with Spatial Audio. It had to be mixed for it. And all music that isn’t mixed for it simply plays in stereo.
Wait. Did Linus say he buys an entire set of replacement AirPods Pro when the ear tips get yellow? Replacement tips are $10
That's not what I heard. I swear I heard him say buying "tips" not a whole new set of headphones.
finally, someone with good taste in music
10$????? What the hell?
@@LaidBackDeveloper
Im not sure where he got that from, you can get 2 sets for $8, so its $2 per tip which is reasonable because of their weird hard snap design
@@-Burb $10 is the Canadian price so that’s what I got in my Google results
I got mine about a month after release, and I love them. In my opinion they’re the best ear buds for both music and calls. I mainly use them to listen to music and the battery is so good that I haven’t even heard the low battery sound so far.
Sameee I love the air pods 3 so much better then my 2's
These really piqued my interest. Been using gen 1 AirPods daily for a few years. They’ve seen better days and I have been looking to upgrade but I hate silicone tipped headphones so never wanted to get the pros
I just upgraded to these and I love how they are low profile but the bud is a bit wider. Unlike the first gen’s which are a bit more angled so they don’t fit as well in my ear. They kind of feel like they are floating. If you like the fit from the original AirPods just know these fit different.
The pros always push out of my ear, no matter how much I clean them or my ears. These are made almost exclusively for me haha
Thanks for confirming my purchase after buying them! I’m an anti sealed person, and these are next level vs the first gen AirPods I have.
Are they comfortable?
I love DBrand's trolling of Linus. 😆
Debated the AirPods 3rd gen but got the pros instead the noise cancellation and spacial audio is amazing
@@Ronaldihldo I personally couldn’t stand the pros when I tried them because the ear tips weren’t comfortable. I then ended up buying a pair later on due to the sound quality and features. I found switching to the small tips changed everything and I now absolutely adore them and find them comfortable.
@@BeesonsCars Same here. The small tips made a whole world of difference. Even the medium tips were super uncomfortable and I couldn’t keep them in for even a minute.
I also got my AirPod Pros on Amazon for $170 and it was the best thing I ever did.
You have to just realize many people find in ear earphones very uncomfortable for a variety of reasons so yes there is plenty of reasons besides monetary
"that goes in real easy" Linus 2022
Spatial audio is great for some things and terrible for others. I would recomend trying it out just to see what it is like. Usually music doesn't go soo well with it, but some songs work great with it.
I love the relationship between linus and dbrand :D 10/10
With airpods pro theres transparency mode so you can still hear around you just fyi
Transparency mode is much better than kind of hearing background noise. Transparency mode amplifies the background.
My airpod pros are a year old and my silicon tips are still white 😬
Hey Linus can you make a video about sleeping designed airbuds like the Bose sleepcomfort compared to AirPods or other airbuds
ua-cam.com/video/OfYo2qQtwMs/v-deo.html
This is a good video about the sleep buds
Dbrand ads are the only ones i don’t skip props to the marketing team
Dbrand really knows how to spice up their sponsor ads!
I'm going to like this video just for Dbrand's sponsor spot making use of one of my favorite hot sauces to use for chicken wings.
Fun fact about the headphone pocket: it was originally made for your pocketwatch on a chain. For me, I put my keys in there (attached to my LTT lanyard and my belt)
Yeah and pocket knives
I’ve always used the little black foam covers over my apple earbuds. Since day one. I can run, mountain bike, lift weights. Anything, and they don’t go anywhere. Time to update to the newer AirPods. 🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼
When do we get the new MacBook unboxing?! The suspense
Soon hopefully.
LMG just got them (going by their Twitter), so we won't have to wait much longer. We just need to be patient.
It does help.

“Aw man that goes in real easy”
-that’s what she said.
These look so nice but after having to block the Mac Address earwax video so I didn't gag every time I saw it in my feed...I think I will stay with the pro
Honestly like the new editing style
so this is the video where linus gets poisoned my dbrand...
nice
Lol wat
Can you put the pro tips onto the regular ones
"I use the ANC when I sleep"
Linus is going to end up with tinnitus real fast.
There is no link between ANC and tinnitus -- got any proof?
@@naught0 studies? Not off the top of my head. Anecdotal evidence from people who didn't have tinnitus, didn't work in environments or have lifestyles that would risk tinnitus, but then got tinnitus after using ANC constantly? Oh yes.
Someone here on UA-cam even made a vijayo about it. I'll find the link after my shift.
@@jordananderson2728 Thanks, that'd be interesting! Looks like the prevailing theory is that ANC makes people more likely to notice tinnitus by removing background noise, which makes sense. ANC won't actively damage hearing unless the volume generated by the headphones is great enough to actually cause damage otherwise. Cheers
either they got the best sales rep ever, or dbrand is just amazing. i love those instructions lol
I remember being given The End to try at chik fil a when I visited the US in 2018. I may have used quite a lot. I liked it! Especially with 40C weather during that summer lmao very cooling

“Complain to your rep boss, oh wait…he don’t care”

“As the artist intended it”. Plenty of artists record Spatial Audio mixes as part of their production process. “Dolby Atmos” songs use a completely different version of the song made for spatial audio.
For spatial audio. Press on the volume bar in the control centre. You can change it there. With AirPods Pro you can change the spatial audio and noise cancelling
I absolutely hate the feeling of rubber nubs on earbuds, so I'm still happy with my 2nd gens. Would love to have the noise cancellation and better sound, but comfort comes first for me.
I can't stand the rubber seal on headphones, the feeling of it makes me nervous or something...
I got these on release, using them right now
Ask any guitarist you know, Linus - that’s a PICK pocket.
I prefer to keep it in my wallet tbh, I rarely ever carry any coins so the coin compartment is perfect for picks.
As for that small little pocket, I most commonly use it for the keyfob whenever I'm driving.
And I use that for keys, and I do play guitar, but fingerstyle mostly 😛
Actually it was desined to carry pocket watches. The design still sticked so here we are.
“Most comfortable in ear headphones”
They’ve been my most uncomfortable earbuds lol
Ik different people have different ears, but still 😭
i love his tone in this video, seems like he has a long ass day and is tired
I actually recommend using sticky tack to clean out the grills on AirPods. Does a great job at getting the gunk out of there, far better than the alcohol did.
i dont wanna buy these airpods because i know they're gonna release new airpods pros soon. but i don't wanna get the next airpods pros because i know they're going to release new airpods. but then i don't wanna get those new airpods because i know they're gonna release new airpods pros. so basically i am not going to get any airpods.
lol
Word on the street is AirPods Pro Gen 2 will be revealed March 2022 for Apple’s spring event
@@jimjamjon2285 This seems very likely. It can also be released near Christmas time as well so sales boom harder than usual, which isn't too unlikely but since they added magsafe to the pros and released Gen 3, makes it seem sort of plausible.
im in the EXACT same spot
my lightning buds that came with my iPhone finally broke after 5 years, so I decided to look into AirPods pros, even though im really tempted I just feel like apple will release new airpods pros for the same price the second I buy the current gen ones lmao
This basically sums up any tech product
Could you guys review the motif anc wireless earbuds from Marshall?
I prefer my beats studio earbuds to what apple released.
You do know that Apple owns Beats... They're basically the same company.
@@SeanWashPhoto yeah I was going to point that out, apple was the on that released the beats 😂
Better price and better options on the beats.
Yes, I do know that apple owns beats and have for years.
What screen protector do you have on your iPhone?
The crazy part is last year I think the pros were 169 or 179$ on Black Friday
You can disable head tracking in accessibility -> airpods -> head tracking.
Then when you turn the spatial sound on, it will just sound like it has a bigger soundstage but without this annoying tracking and sound playing in only one airpod
I bought mine for 169 on Black Friday and I saw them less than a month ago at 179. Now they’re back permanently at 249 and the only change is the updated magsafe case
Those D-brand spots work. I don't skip em
i love your interactions with dbrand :) their idgaf attitude in general is rather pleasing.
it’s such good marketing
The combination of the title and the first stillframe is excellent!
Also if you buy (now) the Airpods Pro, it has the new magsafe charging case, it's not exclusive to the Airpods 3

Very impressed Linus actually noticed that it was ~ 0.1mm thicker.
He's very experienced looking for that 0.1mm difference
You can actually deactivate the Head Tracking in Spatial Audio within the accessibility settings.
I love how dbrand only basically trolls the shit out of Linus. I don’t think I’ve seen them troll any other UA-camr get trolled by them
4:00 anyone who has tried to sleep with them in would know they wake you up in the middle of the night with the low battery sound
YESSSSSS I THOUGHT I WAS THE ONLY ONE THAT KNEW ABOUT THE HEADPHONE POCKET!!!!!
quick question, that case has magsafe which means that I can charge them from my Iph 12, right?
I've had my AirPods 3 for a day or two now, really like them so far
