Good god this dude doesn't even let em break in. My current Dmax is closing in on 400K and even though I'm looking at getting another I'm not sure I want to give the old girl up yet, she's been damn good and still has a lot of life left.
Absolute Towing Machine. I tow at 32k Combined all over the country and it tows FABULOUS. I also use the Banks Derringer with I-Dash to monitor DPF soot and force regens if needed.
From the start, I was concerned about the exhaust angle of my '23 diesel. So glad I saw this video, I immediately ordered the Banks end pipe, black tip...thanks!
Good luck with your Denali. I bought mine in 2021 and am still discovering stuff on it. It pulls my travel trailer up and down hills without a hiccup. Gross weight with my travel trailer is 19,200 and I get 12mpg. Only thing I've done to it is add Timbren suspension enhancers to it. It was less than a half hour job to remove the old stops and add the Timbrens.
Thanks for your good review on your new GMC Denali 1 ton. I purchased my 2023 GMC Denali 3/4ton in September 2022. When starting mine remotely the engine will advance to high idle when I approach the truck. Mine came with the Denali Ultimate package which included a full floor mat over carpet both front and back, driver and passenger memory seating. When pared with my cell phone, GM will give me a monthly performance update on the truck.
You seem to know your stuff...very good vid with lots of good ideas and tips IMO. My '23 Denali is on order and scheduled for delivery in April and I've saved this for reference.
I have the exact same truck. The fact that I'm looking forward to the truck you are going to get "Next" rather than watching this video tells you everything you need to know. It tows my fifth-wheel ok - meh.
I had the same truck 2021. cheap interior and squealing brakes. I went back to dodge. but I was able to sell that truck for 7k over what i owed on my lease buyout. I drove it for a year for free. 82k sticker they gave me 89k with 21k miles on it. crazy world. once in a lifetime deal.
Nice truck and review. I currently own a 2022 RAM 3500 HO with Aisin (no Ram Box). I don't know if I can't survive without the Mega CAB feature. To be honest, the Denali is a great truck and will tow your new toy hauler without any problems.
Nice review! I just ordered a 23’ 3500 High Country duramax. My 22’ Ram Limited Cummins has been nothing but problems. Granted they are smaller and electronic issues, but enough to have it at the dealer for a week here and there multiple times. I looked at ordering a 23’ Laramie HO, but couldn’t justify the significant price increase for a 6-speed and the same old small cab. I test drove a few Chevys and really liked how they drove better. Way smoother and the 10-speed Allison sold me too. 5-7 month wait now.
I agree… I like the space of the mega cab but driving a long wheel base in the city is a con for me. The ram crew isn’t enough space for me. One of the main reasons I switched. Glad to be back in a short wheel base truck. Should have no regrets with the GM…
@@XploreAz Cab size and overall size of the truck is what I see as rams biggest drawback. Ford and gm are both bigger trucks. When ram finally makes a bigger crew cab, I won't have any reason to bother looking at other brands.
I’ve got a Chevy High Country 2500HD Duramax and love the truck. It’s also a 2023, ordered in May, one of the first built after the 18th of July. Got it one day short of a month in August. Msg is optioned similarly, I don’t have the fold down side steps, as I don’t see them lasting with the harsh winters here in the north. I’m just under 6k miles and decided to take it in after the holidays for its first oil change. I’m not waiting for the recommended 7.5k time frame. I couldn’t agree with you more…these trucks are all good. I’m coming from a Ford F250 Lariat and it was good to me. Eleven years, 145k miles. Almost bought the RAM back then, but went with Ford. Each year one company gets to brag how their mileage is better, or weight/tow ratings are better, but all are more than capable, IMO. I haven’t towed anything yet, planning on an RV, prolly a 5th wheel in the spring. I’m not anticipating any issues. I like the upgrades you have made…SIMPLE, but effective, not to far off stock. I’ve got the jet black/umber interior, which, I think looks classy, rather than all black. Thanks for the review, you’ve got a lot of good info/content. Good Luck!
Thanks for watching.. let me know if you have any questions.. The duramax pulled great! I have the ready air airbag set and wireless compressor if you are interested.
Very nice in-depth review of the truck. I have a 2021 Ram HO Limited Mega Cab with the factory air. It’s been flawless so far with 16k miles on it. When I was looking at trucks to order, the GM was tied with the Ram (I like the AT4 look) but the interior of the Ram and the seats won me over. For some reason the seats in the GM just aren’t that comfortable to me. Overall you always do a crazy nice job with your trucks and put some really good after market parts and accessories on them. People should feel lucky to get the trucks you’ve used for 20k miles. I’m not very technical when it comes to my truck but I do want a bigger fuel tank from S&B or Titan tanks. I would also love to lift the truck about 1 3/4 inches and put some 295/65/20 Toyo AT 3 on it. I know with the air suspension it’s just not that easy. Anyway, I always appreciate the reviews and videos.
I had the s&b tank in my rams and it was great. On your 3500 you can add a 1” traxda spacer to the rear air bag and a 1.5” block to rear axle. Sensor rod senses the top of mount. You can also add a 1” traxda spacer to front spring. For a small amount of lift. Reach out to me on messenger if you want more details.
The GMC will shift WAY smoother. I didnt care for the Aisin tranny in my 3500 but I love the Cummins engine. The GMC will be my next truck though. Super sleek and more creature comforts. FYI the Dodge 2500 and 2500 offers a 50 gal tank.

Great review and nice truck. I'm not brand bias myself. I had a 2018 Ram 3500, traded it in for a new at the time 2020 GMC 3500HD Denali Dually. Where did you get your alignment done by the way, I'm particular where I take my trucks and want it in good hands. Thanks and keep up the good work.
Thanks for watching! I had gmc dealer do alignment with laser machine. I wanted it right.. These are really nice trucks. The 24 duramax is going to be a beast with new interior also.
Your side mirrors will tilt down when you put the truck in reverse. There is a setting you have to select for it to happen. I love it a lot and makes it to where I don’t need to use my side mirrors when backing up.
Good video to explain differences in trucks and options. However, you didn’t link to all the good options you installed on your truck. Did I miss it? It would help to be able to find these options as I couldn’t hear your description on a few. My ears aren’t good. That Allison is good and GM improved it. The GMs really set up the dash controls to be easily accessible at your fingertips. Hope they stay this way. The software is excellent. Banks pedal monster Eliminates any delay when you first takeoff - good decision to go with Banks overall. You really know this truck. Excellent review! 👍👍

Sir, does your state require a CDL for heavy truck, trailer and payload combinations? You have DEF and regen. Wow! On tractors, it is one or the other. When I use the tow / haul function (transmission shifting sequence) I also use the diesel exhaust. I really notice the diesel exhaust much more when the tow / haul is engaged. I had a 2013 2500 Denali
Ok I subbed. We are alot alike on everything we own Monster trucks, and other trucks except I do race cars as well...LOL except I don't do Dodge anymore. I will follow you.✌
That's a good looking rig. I have a '23 Denali 3500 myself, and about the only different is the paint color and lack of roof lights. Mine for whatever reason, does not have them. I will say, the 35's on there make that truck look extra mean.
I always wanted the GMC but for the interior alone and not the mention the extra storage i get on Rams so i got a ram and dont regret it. After utilizing the ramboxes as a handyman and towing with tow package mirrors, its very hard to switch over to any other truck
They’re all good trucks these days. Currently have a 19 f350 king ranch srw thinking about switching to a 23 Denali just because I’ve never had anything but ford.
Nice truck!! I want a GM for my next 1 ton, but I definitely want the 2024 as I’m just hauling a 2500 lb camper and towing about 5,000 lbs max in an enclosed V-nose 20 ft tandem aluminum trailer. I will likely go with gas vs diesel so the gas gets the Allison branded 10 speed for 2024!! If I spend enough, I can get the newer GM interior, which I definitely prefer as well! (LT or higher). I also want the Ford F-350 as well due to the 2.0 kw Pro Power Onboard!! It suits me about perfectly with my setup!! Why can’t GM get a Pro Power Equivalent?? Because I leave the exhaust stock, I find the truck (my F150) is much quieter than a “quiet” generator when the truck has to turn on. Because of the extra batteries for the Pro Power set up, I find the truck isn’t “always” running except when I put a high demand on the system as well. I had a the PowerBoost hybrid, but liked the Tremor when it was released so switched. The 2.0 is more than enough for my current 1/2 ton camper set up. It’s about the size of the bathroom in this guy’s trailer!!!😂😂😂 in fact it doesn’t HAVE a bathroom!!😂😂. The newer one I already picked up is a 4 season Wolf Creek 890 so it has a wet bathroom in it. Looking forward to that!! Haha. Everyone has different needs and I think he has definitely met his current needs!! The truck looks great!! The stance, tires, Denali etc are all coming together for a very nice truck. I have also always liked the DuraMax, but now just don’t need one. In Chevy I can roughly get a gas High Country for a similar price of a diesel powered LT. Different needs of course. If I pulled as heavy as he does, gas wouldn’t even be a consideration. Nice truck!! Looking forward to what you get next. I go through trucks like you do, especially with the current market, but things are getting closer to somewhat normal here in Southern Alberta. If I want a loaded High Country 3500 it’s on the lots here. The Custom level trucks are harder to get as they sell faster due to the much lower price of course. Same with Ram,,,, generally, right now, there’s what you want on the lot especially if it’s a Laramie or Limited. Even the 1/2 tons are doing fair except with Toyota. The newness of the current Tundra has spiked the demand there. Ford PowerBoost models are harder to get, but if you want a Silverado ZR2, it’s there, High Country 1500s same! The 3.0L diesel 1/2 ton is a bit harder to get. Good luck with your truck and RV!! Gonna be an awesome set up!!
i'm 64 i have owned all three big brand of truck to the newest to the oldest for all that money they are so undependable today, my new truck is it the Dealer over a month, my old 98 chevy 454 dually 4x4 > 270 miles everything still WORK,
The ‘24s GMs are introducing the amazing big screen already on the ‘22 1500’s. The new radio tech seems to have solved glitchiness. I have an aftermarket 10” screen radio from Kenwood that is seamless w/carplay and loads easily when I get into the truck w/small initial delay as radio gets itself going. It’s nice to see manufacturers making big screen radios that are reducing issues and sound as good as aftermarket. Upgrade your radio where possible when you purchase as it’s cheaper than after market.
I took one look at that interior and decided it was way inferior to the Ram’s. It is so plain in comparison. Hate to hear the radio / electronics were a bit glitchy in your old Ram. My ‘19 Ram 3500 Limited has been almost perfect. It is a standard output with the 68 RFE but that too has been amazing. I might look at the ‘24 Denali but we shall see. Thanks for the thoughtful vid.
I agree Ram interior is amazing.. My 21 mega was great with no issues. 22 needed a radio reboot everyday and still would lock up. It got so bad I disconnected Bluetooth and wireless CarPlay and went back to the cable.. My 3500 mega limited was lifted and had ram boxes. I purchased an RV and needed to get it picked up. I found a gmc that someone backed out of with prep package. I really wanted a short wheel base. I do a lot of town driving and the long wheel base on the mega was kind of a pain. I considered Ram again but the crew cab 3500 backseat is just to small for me. The gm and ford have a lot of cab room with short wheel base. I have had all of the trucks and they all have pros and cons. I have a 23 high output super duty on order that I am excited about. The gm does a good job and the 23 year model will bring decent in 2023 when my other order comes in. The 23 Denali will prob have 15-20k miles in a few months.
@@RockyRohde very cool, I hope you enjoy the GMC; and that is exciting about the F350 HO! Hey, would you mind to give an honest real world report of the fuel mileage on the Rams vs GMC in the recent past (2020+)? My ‘19 Ram Limited is a 3500 SO SRW QC 4WD long bed, absolutely 100% stock suspension and engine. I get 21 mpg doing 75 mph hwy, with just the fam not towing not loaded. About 19 mpg mixed city driving. When loaded with 4K truck camper and 6k boat I get 13 hwy. Just curious what the GMC does (realizing it only has 4K miles).
CHECK FOR LEAKS! my dad took his in for water leaking in the cab(damages not covered w/ the “extended coverage”) when my 2023 came in 2 cab lights and the “fin” had gaps. Said they couldn’t fix it unless it was actually leaking. Didn’t even finish the 500 mile break in and now they gotta pull the headliner.
You mentioned the camera doesn't project to the mirror but that's not true.... mine definitely does.... you likely just didn't get that option. Just an FYI since you mentioned it as a negative
Does the regen feature works with ram as well? On the fence about buying it for my 22 ram. Was buying only the pedal monster but not sure how this eye/gages work?
Nice that you got a gm this year but you can’t really compare this year of truck to the ram just wait till the 2024 HDs then gm will be much further ahead
The problem with GMC is they took 5 years to catch up with the upgraded interiors. My ‘19 Ram 3500 Limited has the most amazing interior and has been perfect after 53K miles. I do look forward to seeing the 2024 GMC though!
It seems like 3/8" spacers wouldn't make much difference. My GMC Canyon is getting 1 1/4" spacers but it looks like a skateboard now. Awesome looking truck you got there.
I have a 22 at4 3500, bds 6.5 inch lift on 37x12.50 r18 bfg km3's, air ride helper bags and one of the biggest differences is I added sulastic rear shackles...tows and rides like a caddy. Also added the pulsar v3 piggy back ecm....thing is a monster. Beats up on some of my buddies deleted and tuned trucks.
This truck is bad ass man, nice walk thru. You got it decked out. Rams got a lot of features but in the end they are real cheap and lower quality once you been in a denali
Nice review Rocky. I was wondering what happened to the new Ram. You didn't have it very long. How about a review on the wifey's 392 Jeep? I've been on the fence about buying one.
Thanks! I have a few videos on 392.. They run like a rocket.. just make sure both hands are on the wheel when you mash on it lol… The 392 is definitely a better driving more refined feel due to the weight. The power is great and engine sounds phenomenal. At the end of the day for me it’s not an everyday driver for me.. My wife loves it and drives about 80 miles a day in it. Going to order a new ride for me next week.. prob won’t see it till may next year lol..
Like the look of those spacer and tire combo. Those are the Bora .375"?? And you installed on all 4 wheels? Also any issue with running the 13.5 wide tire? Cheers

Thanks! I’m currently in a 22 ford and have a 23 ford on order..
I own both and Gmc does it to!
That's a good looking rig. I have a '23 Denali 3500 myself, and about the only different is the paint color and lack of roof lights. Mine for whatever reason, does not have them.
I will say, the 35's on there make that truck look extra mean.
Thanks
Down Shift a gear or two then turn on the engine brake. Works great
That Ram exhaust brake though. Unmatched.
Agreed!!
NIce review as well as the nice truck, but something I could NEVER afford!!
If “you don’t think you can…”
-you’re probably right
You should have just waited and got the refresh and the new interior! They will be available in spring!
really nice truck
Thanks 👍
I ordered the new 23 F350 with the 2kw generator. I probably won't get it till next summer.
Same here I ordered opening day.. my guess is April-May delivery. F350KR
I always wanted the GMC but for the interior alone and not the mention the extra storage i get on Rams so i got a ram and dont regret it. After utilizing the ramboxes as a handyman and towing with tow package mirrors, its very hard to switch over to any other truck
GMC updated the interiors. Check out the 2024 GMC Sierra HDs like the Denali Ultimate or AT4X
@@JustinSmith24 yea i know but its 80k or more
Your seats hard as a rock? My wife’s’22 Trail Boss with leather is like sitting on 5 gallon buckets. My Super Duty seats are sooo much more comfy
They’re all good trucks these days. Currently have a 19 f350 king ranch srw thinking about switching to a 23 Denali just because I’ve never had anything but ford.
Drive a ram if you get a chance before committing…
Pretty inside I don’t have to worry about chipping or breaking my finger nails
Gonna be an awesome set up!!
i'm 64 i have owned all three big brand of truck to the newest to the oldest for all that money they are so undependable today, my new truck is it the Dealer over a month, my old 98 chevy 454 dually 4x4 > 270 miles everything still WORK,
Have you found anything to replace the plastic plugs in the bed? To cover the 5th wheel mounts,I keep knocking the factory ones out.
It's a truck not a playstation. You cityboys have absolutely RUINED trucks....
@@elonmust7470 look at the bright side, Goober. You can always drive your 40 year old truck until you kick the bucket.
@@georgiafan6618 I bought a 2023 2500 hd ltz last week.
@RockyRohde were did you get the idash mount? Looks great, blends in nicely.
Hey man was wondering if you still had the dash mount for this gmc truck? Would love to buy it if so! Love the videos great info!
I sold it… it came from blockhead8
Man are you a millionaire or something? How do guys afford these trucks. Very nice 👍🏻
Upgrading my seats and cruise control upgrades ❤
Nicer Duramax than my last two I had
❤nice job…….
This is a 2023, the 2024 interiors are updated and much improved. It's in the same class as Ram if not better in my opinion
@@RockyRohde Ramboxes on a 3500? Thought u couldn't do that
Gm will finally have a decent interior in 2024 HD
Agreed!!
Nice truck but the prices are out of this world.
How do you feel about your seats? On long cross country trips. Looking into getting a new truck . I'm a superduty guy but the new gmcs are so sharp
Get the superduty… Seats are more comfortable
Does the regen feature works with ram as well? On the fence about buying it for my 22 ram. Was buying only the pedal monster but not sure how this eye/gages work?
Yes I believe so…
Nice that you got a gm this year but you can’t really compare this year of truck to the ram just wait till the 2024 HDs then gm will be much further ahead
The problem with GMC is they took 5 years to catch up with the upgraded interiors. My ‘19 Ram 3500 Limited has the most amazing interior and has been perfect after 53K miles. I do look forward to seeing the 2024 GMC though!
The GMC has a longer bed than the Short bed Rams. What is your experience towing with the SB vs the LB?
It seems like 3/8" spacers wouldn't make much difference. My GMC Canyon is getting 1 1/4" spacers but it looks like a skateboard now.
Awesome looking truck you got there.
Thanks!
Very nice if it is affordable for you! I just can’t force myself to pay that much for something that is definitely not worth the money period!
LOL @YOU ARE POOR
I have a 22 at4 3500, bds 6.5 inch lift on 37x12.50 r18 bfg km3's, air ride helper bags and one of the biggest differences is I added sulastic rear shackles...tows and rides like a caddy. Also added the pulsar v3 piggy back ecm....thing is a monster. Beats up on some of my buddies deleted and tuned trucks.
I have sulastics on this one also. They are great for daily. Towing heavy they do have some bounce to them..
@Rocky Rohde haven't had the bounce issue even pulling my flat bed with my excavator. 22k loaded and smooth.
Might just need better shocks… pulling my Rv with 2800 pounds it gets a little bouncy in the rear.. I may have a oem blown out..
This truck is bad ass man, nice walk thru. You got it decked out. Rams got a lot of features but in the end they are real cheap and lower quality once you been in a denali
Thanks!
what banks dash monitor do you have and also what mount are you using for it? Just like JB review says you have all the cool toys....LOL thanks
Search banks mount made by Ben. I had to contact him directly on messenger to have one made.
Did you run the MT with the 37s? 12.5 or 13.5 ? I just hate the rubbing, and I don’t like trimming lol. I appreciate the tips
I ram the 37x13.50 mud grapps.. Go 12.50 if you don’t like rubbing for sure..
@@RockyRohde I went on the jeep website and spec'd out a 392. It was 88k. I'll pass. lol
Lots of glitz… lots of gimmicks. Perfect truck for hauling a bag of groceries.
Yeah tows my 40ft tandem and my 75hp tractor pretty often.. Also tows my 43 ft RV.. Far from a grocery getter..
I would be interested in buying this truck off you when your ready to trade it in.
Kinda feel bad for you, just got this truck and the new one expected to start production Q1 2023 and it’s wayyyyy better.
I have a new one on order
You'd really love the fords
23 super duty was ordered the day it opened
Did you have too do anything in settings to get it to stay running thx
Like the look of those spacer and tire combo. Those are the Bora .375"?? And you installed on all 4 wheels? Also any issue with running the 13.5 wide tire? Cheers
Yes .375 spacers and zero issues or rub.. Tow toy hauler with zero issues. they don’t rub without spacers so that is optional…
level kit ? i have the same truck, i just dont want it to rub, they say you can fit 37, i like the stance and look of your truck. really the look i am going for. any info will be greatly appreciated @@RockyRohde
@@brianpike5467 I had 37’s on it at first and just used keys and arms level kit with 3/8 spacers.. In the video above it has 35x13.50x20 Toyo MT with stock suspension and torsion keys adjusted up. The 37’s were a little tall for my RV so I went to this setup.
Jesus, I thought this was a Ram review for the first half of my life spent on this video...
Hopefully they changed the seats. I had a 2020 Denali 2500 and they were stiff as a board. I sold it due to that reason. It was just way too uncomfy for that price of a truck.
you have to use manual mode for the exhaust brake to work better
Still not ideal..
try the 3500hd dually! Chevy ltz for the win! Got 1 @ 3500 miles also. Sweeeeet
It would be nice if they extended the backseat passenger seating so it can recline 🤷🏽♂️💯
Do you recommend the shackles for the leaf springs on lifted trucks ?
Yes
I had a 22 2500 mega cab limited . Loved it. But that damn uconnect was so aggravating. Also every week ram had a freaking recall . I just traded it in for a 24 2500 gmc. I must say towing I absolutely miss my ram. The gmc has horrible brakes and even worse exaust brakes. But gm FINALLY updated the interior . That’s the main reason I bought it. Loved the exterior on the 23s but the interior were SO plain
Agree 100% brakes and exhaust brake is non existent..
I have the same truck but a 22 I’ve always had fords the last 25 years and i miss the keypad entry system where do you get the one on your truck? I have to get it
Gm sells it 140 bucks. you have to pay them labor to program it.
Do you know of Obsessed Garage? You’re like the truck/rv version of him it seems lol
The auto dim is only the drivers side mirror. You still get blinded by the passenger mirror.
What is the actual break in number before towing anything
