I just got a 2024 Sierra AT4 yesterday. It has all the options but I couldn't figure out what it had or didn't have that the Denali had. It finally just came down to looks. The AT4 just looks more refined rural than uppity urban.
I just got a 2024 AT4 gas. For me, I wanted the black front grill. You can't get that unless you go with the Denali Ultimate which also only comes with the Durmax and is at least 10 grand more - 20 with the Diseal vs the gas AT4. I also wanted a slightly lifted look and the AT4 has been raised about 1 1/2 inches. I also like the AT4 interior Black/Brown leather better. Both trucks are beautiful and more than capable. I swore I would never spend that kind of money on a truck, but let's face it, prices will not come back down for trucks like these.
Excellent comparison and analysis...I've ordered a Denali gasser, should be delivered in April, May at the latest. It's a replacement for my 2001 3/4 Silverado that I bought new with the 8.1 and a 6-speed manual. I don't think it's extravagant to buy a new truck every 22 years, but I'll miss the manual...
I also got a '23 3500 at4 with the long bed. It just looks better than the denali but they are identical for features. also the pop of color on the leather and the brown stitching make the interior look nicer than the denali.
I think the Denali grille looks meaner, but I really like the AT4 too. The biggest thing that I hate about the AT4 is the Kalahari colored inserts in the seats as they just look tacky to me. That alone would push me towards the Denali. I know...1st world problems right?

I do like Denali. But like JB said… Denali is literally about owning the top trim… AT4 is a little more rugged. The new Denali Ultimate honestly look amazing, they are just way too much money… they all kind of are haha

@@etharoonie not cheap at all. We got a Yukon AT4 in December. Ridiculous price plus another 10k in taxes and extended warranty… honestly it’s a very nice vehicle, but It isn’t as nice as I would expect for the price.

I agree with you 100%. I have a 2016 Denali and I wish they would do a slight tint, like the ultimate, the darker chrome is cleaner looking, and better than the at4.
I'm glad that you got a black truck. You don't have to worry about color matching your wheel flares and steps.

The AT4 is just a X31 (Z71) package with a at4 trim package. The Denali probably has a X31 package as well. That said you can get a SL, SLE, SLT, or Denali with the X31, if you like the looks of the AT4 then that is the reason to get it.

Styling preference mainly is the difference. The Denali might possibly have a little better resale since it is a Denali. They are wildly popular you know.
I like the AT4 better. And also definitely take the Sierra badge from the middle of the tailgate lol. It would look much better on the left lower side in my opinion.
Would like to see the 3500 high country next to these as well see how it compares.
I'm old school. I prefer the Denali and the chrome. Definitely Duramax, but I prefer long bed crew 4x4 loaded.

My 22 lariat super duty I added the chrome package to get that pop. It really stands out against the rapid red paint.
I bought a 2022 Denali just like the one you compared. I opted for the walnut interior instead of the black & really like it. Compares to the AT4 with the orange seat accents. I like the Denali Rims and grille better than the AT4. Both great trucks.
It is unfortunate that the AT4 in the HD is strictly an appearance package, and it does look good. But it looks like 2024 may change that with the AT4x HD . So a an HD, with a Diesel and front and rear selectable lockers, yes please. That will haul some big trailers of hay out a pasture. Here is to hoping anyway.
I would go for the Denali, then yours because it is top in the class

AT4 is more of an appearance package. I love Denalis however I dislike the chrome personally so I would choose an AT4 for myself. Looks better overall.

That grill on the Denali stands out, looks nice and it looks the Danali looks a little more muscular with style.

Yeah I agree, the AT4 looks slick, especially in black or that dark grey "titanium" color they have, much prefer it over the "standard" Denali, now AT4 vs Denali Ultimate with the dark appearance? Tough call on that one lol.

Also one thing to keep in mind, the leather is different/better in the Denali, while the AT4 is more durable

Just ordered at4 this morning. Replacing 21 Denali. I was told at4x will not be offered in HD. 1500 only.

I have owned both, like them both, I prefer the leather in the Denali over the AT4 seems better quality. For the last 3 months my 2021 Denali 2500 Duramax has been in shop new engine replaced at 9k miles then 2 weeks ago another issue and still in the shop.
I love them all! I should seek counseling...
Wow I don't know. That denali really does look nice. But I believe your choice of the black was a much better choice cause when you see that trailer and truck coming down the road it is a magnificent combination. I love the Sierra name but that tail gate would have a nice clean look with just GMC. Peace ✌️ out.

I think they could put larger AT4 badges. I have a 2022 Yukon AT4 and wish the badges were larger
Great video comparison brother! I’d say take the sierra badge off, leave at4. Also I’d go with at4 and get upgrade technology package. Also I think with x31 off road package you get skids and rancho shocks

Here's the difference.....if you get the Denali, you're gonna get chrome......if you get the AT4, you're gonna get skid plates, 2" lift, auto lockers, rancho suspension bigger wheels etc..........seems like an damn easy pick to me hahaha

This was very helpful. People have called the AT4 the “broke man Denali “ but they DFW same vehicles. Me being into customizations and color match, I’m going to do away with the chrome anyway.

2024 is around $76k. After the destination, document, sales tax, and warranty you are at about $88k. I just bought mine and that was MSRP

The Denali has to much chrome for me. I like the color of both trucks but, both show way to much dirt due to the bark color which wash me almost every day. Great video buddy.

What is the horsepower and torque numbers on the 23 Duramax
Same 445 hp, 910lbs torque
The 2024 duramax will have 470 hp and over 900 torque
I recently bought a 2023 Denali 2500 HD Duramax. Sold my 2015 RAM 2500 to a buddy, and then traded in my 2022 RAM 3500. For the GMC Denali 2500 HD. The GMC 2500 has nearly a 3K payload rating where RAM 2500s are around 2k, which was why I had both.
I figured out that the GMC 2500 payload rating was in between that of my 2500 and 3500 RAMs and would actually cover all my needs.
Mine is white, with the color matched wheel arches as well as I just installed color matched white bedside steps as well.
I really like Denali trim pkg on the 2500/3500 HDs but I have to go AT4 on the 1500s.
I also have a 2021 1500 Duramax White AT4 carbon pro edition so it has the brushed grey grill and trim work, and I went with the same color matched wheel arches on the AT4. I think on the Denali HD since it has color matched / painted bumpers with only some Chrome grille and Chrome accenting, I like how that all works together.

I’d consider buying one if they ever add the super cruise option to the heavy duty trucks.
Heck here we are in 2023 and GM has yet to put even active or smart cruise on these HD trucks. Has the tech to monitor lane and Vehicle distance etc. It is just not tied into control the cruise.
The 1500s have both Super cruise and active or smart cruise available. But not the 2023 HDs.
I would be happy if they would just activate the smart cruise tech that is already in my 2023 HD Denali.
@@jdfleetguy28 I have a brand new ZR2 chev - the active cruise is NOT reliable ----truuuuust me. It is VERY sensitive to the sensors being spotless (i believe)...regardless...DEF not a selling feature for me. Trading it for a AT4 HD next week - been there, done that, got the T-shirt on the ZR2.
@@Crushin123 I had 2021 1500 AT4 I6 diesel, it had the active cruise so does my 2023 AT4X that replaced my 21 a month or so ago. Never had any issues with mine.
I bought a denali because it is the top line with every option. I hate chrome so I painted all the chrome on my truck black and body match color. I also don't like the brown on the at4 interior.
I don’t mind the contrast on the AT4 grill but the Denali is what I basically traded and I wanted to try something different this time around 👍🏾

Those trucks are basically identical except for the face. GM has told me that for two years. You have to figure out what look you like best.
I personally like the chrome look over driving around in a all black vehicle aka murdered out black.

This trucks rides way better than my RAM so I’m happy with it 👍🏾
I added Bilstien shocks/struts to my Ram. I also swapped out the rear coils and added Tuff Truck heavy duty coils. Ride difference is night and day. I looked at Old Man Emu and they’re finally building a suspending kit for Ram. They are hands down my normal “go to” suspension if they make one for the vehicle I have at the time.

My 2500 has 3600 pounds of payload, it’s a custom which is basically a work truck though. Higher trims with gas I would assume are still close to 3000 or above
My gas has the 6 speed. 2024 will get the 10 speed though
