Subsequently their outlets started mushrooming.. their kuehs' n cake taste n quality have maintained all these years. A cherished local success story!!
350kg of pandan leaves??? 😱😱😱 no wonder it’s so fragrant!!! tbh bengawan solo’s pandan cake is really the most delicious among all the commercially available brands.
Their cakes and kuehs are the best. ❤️ their ondeh ondeh is always sold out by 7pm daily. I was so happy when restaurants and bakeries are finally able to open, I went to the nearest bengawan solo the next day to get some kuehs ☺️
The first time I visited Singapore, I discovered Bengawan Solo's panda chiffon cake at the airport. Since then, it's been my favorite souvenir from the country :) Looking forward to have it again soon!
FYI, I ate their products, to be honest, if you compare to the real stuff, theirs are below par. You should go to Indonesia, the ticket is cheap now, and you can get the real stuff. Once you had the real ones, you will agree with me that Bengawan Solo is nothing. But their stores do look good.
ever since seeing JJ bring bengawan solo's pandan chiffon cake to the show 梦想的声音 I really wanted to try it as they rate so highly of something that looks so simple! would love to have it when i finally get to travel to sg :(
I love their sliced cakes and kueh, my parents used to buy for me when i was young, admire the founder’s mission to provide her bakes and quality to the masses of Singaporeans :)
Imagine you went back to your hometown in Central Java. Me: hey I brought a souvenir from Singapore Family: whoa, what’s that? Me: It’s a Bengawan Solo Pandan Cake Family:.......
fun fact Bengawan solo is famous river. It's longest river at Java island. Keroncong song titled the same is also very famous. Anastasia Liem emigrated from ID to SG.
what's the first brand of local kuehs that its best to introduce to tourism? them. can't deny its probably the only brand still standing strong till now, their pandan chiffons are still one of the best
Not only their pandan cake is the best pandan cake . Every time my kids want to celebrate birthday at school. bengawan solo alway be my family first choice ....
We call it klepon for your onde. We fried our ondeh2 then cover it with sessame seed. Btw our klepon can make gula java burst in our mouth. Its yummy for sure.
Nonya Kueh involves so much of work to make so it's nice to always have ones that taste the way it should being sold. Always enjoy the selection Bengawan Solo has and the flavor remains as my benchmark whenever I make my own at home. I wish the pieces were abit bigger thou, seems to be shrinking. Also wish they made other hard to come by kuehs like Appom Berkuah & Durian Wajid. And yes the owner seems to be a lovely person and she must be so proud to have built this company from it's humble beginnings. I would recommend any foreigner to try the kuehs if they visit Singapore - a must try!
Well i can't bring bengawan solo back as souvenir when i go visit singapore. That kue is our every day snack in indonesia 😂 gotta bring other stuff as souvenir.
People will laugh if you bring Bengawan Solo product back to Indonesia. They taste like 3rd class bakery in Indonesia. But their packaging is very impressive. One time, a co-worker brought me their cookies and kueh Lapis...OMG, those are not good at all.
Family & I love the ondeh ondeh very much.. I'm incharge of the ondeh ondeh (& other kueh from Bengawan Solo) for dessert at every family gathering without fail.. YUMMY!😊👍
After all these years, i think this is the best enterprise singapore has produced and sets a bar in all aspects that many local companies will find hard to beat
I used to buy their cakes n kueh when they had a shop in Sennet Estate near the mcpherson market. June Liew the young man's aunt was my colleague was my . She introduced me to her brother's n sis in law's shop.
I only have been to Singapore twice for my holidays. However, the pastries from Bengawan Solo are the things which I often crave for. Is there its branch in Changi airport?
When you have a chance, go to Jakarta, and buy kuih lapis in Jakarta. You will be able to tell a big difference in flavor. I tried BS kuih lapis...it is a third class quality in Indonesia.
For all Indonesian correcting the name of the green ball with gula jawa inside: it's called by different names accross Indonesia. I know for some people Onde Onde is an entirely different kueh with different colour, texture and fillings. But in my hometown, Medan, the green ball coated with coconut flakes and gula jawa are also called onde-onde. Medan, Singapore and Malaysia's city of Penang sure share a very similar 'peranakan' culture. Thus the name.
Which city of Indonesia Mrs. Anastasia grew up? I supposed she came from Solo. There are also shops in Solo which sell similar traditional kueh/food. The most popular one is Orion.
The hygiene standards and availability of the ingredients are different tho. Besides, the price is based on Singaporean standard income, not based on Indonesian rupiahs. Just be glad a piece of Indonesian tradition is famous in foreign country.
I love bengawan solo prune layer cake, everytime my husband goes to business trip to SG always buy for me🥰🥰 but now he cannot go because of corona. Really miss bengawan solo cake😭😭
@@rothschildianum if their products are not good, they won’t have 44 outlets in Singapore. Just because you dont like the product doesn’t mean the product is not good, maybe you just have some kind of taste disorder. And I’m Indonesian.

Benar banget..
Is this the same company as Bengawan Solo Coffee in Indonesia or are they different companies but just happen to have the same name?
Klo buka di Singapore kan ga ada kompetitor bs main di harga jg

So good, you could stick it on the "dian xing" menu @ Raffles Hotel.
My childhood memories of marine parade:) they are still the best!
Their cakes and kuehs are the best. ❤️ their ondeh ondeh is always sold out by 7pm daily. I was so happy when restaurants and bakeries are finally able to open, I went to the nearest bengawan solo the next day to get some kuehs ☺️
Now that u mention it, I've also noticed that their ondeh ondehs are sold out in their evenings.
Definitely very consistent and good quality over so many years. I’ve yet to find a better pandan chiffon cake or kueh salat anywhere else.
Their kueh sedap! I really admire how consistent the quality of their products albeit its on the pricier side.
The first time I visited Singapore, I discovered Bengawan Solo's panda chiffon cake at the airport. Since then, it's been my favorite souvenir from the country :) Looking forward to have it again soon!
They really sell the best kueh. Consistent quality 👍👍👍👍
omg!!! I love this video AND BENGAWAN IS SO YUMMY. so amazing to see their hardwork making every kueh by hand. worth every cent :)))
I’m Indonesian, but i gotta say their kueh has the best quality amongst all kueh I’ve ever tried love Bengawan Solo!
Maybe if you get in Singapore, but if you get the ones in Indonesia, it will be a different story.
She is Indonesian after all.
4:01 i remember it as a place that i can only see with my eyes. For rich people and tourists only
Wth it’s all still handmade?? No wonder their stuff tastes so good, when I think of my childhood and kueh lapis I think of this brand
Well yes handmade is always a must as a traditional, fk automation gives bad quality

their birthday cakes are really good too! place order with them every year as my kids love the cake and the many cartoon designs that they can choose!
