I just travelled Spain and Portugal for 1 month and I love the Basque Country. I will come back again and focus on the Northern part of Spain. Their tourism publicity is very organized. I love it!
It is great! I actually just completed the Camino de Santiago Northern Route that followed along the Northern Coast of Spain starting in the Basque Country....it was fantastic.
@ What an unfortunate comment! Please, open your mind and travel. You will find marvelous things. The Basque Country is not a land of terrorists. It is a land of wonderful people where a terrorist group maintained an useless conflict, but fortunately, ETA is no longer active.
Such a great video. Thank you for sharing. I would love to visit North of Spain soon, and will use your video for the reference. Warm hello from Montreal, Canada :)
and if you have the opportunity visit Covadonga cave in Asturias, where spanish defeated the moors in 722 (but i suppose if you have been in Picos de Europa you will also have been there)
Not only Islas Cies....all atlantic Galicia coast....from Faro de Hercules in Coruña to Santa Tecla's celtic castro in A Guardia. Finisterre, La Toja, O Grove, Arousa, Pontevedra, Vigo, Baiona, A Guarda, Tuy....en Portugal, Valenca, Caminha, Viana do Castelo, Braga, Guimaraes, Oporto.
Wow. Brilliant footage - that was a really thorough trip of Northern Spain! We live here and travel it constantly and have to agree with lots of your selections. Very surprised you came across Pazo de Oca in Galicia - what a great location - we loved it too - such a gem! And nice to see Altamira and the Picos de Europa in Cantabria. Did you try the rabas which are the popular calamari in Cantabria? They're delicious with a local vermouth at midday! Well done again on a fantastic visual roundup...
Thanks! Glad I get the local approval :) Northern Spain is amazing and I can't wait to come back. I don't think I tried the rabas, but they sound delicious.
Pamplona and the Running of the Bulls, Bilbao and the Guggenheim, The Puente Colgante in Santurce just north of Bilbao where the river meets the ocean, San Juan de Gaztelugatxe, The Magdalena in Santander, Comillas...

Hey! Awesome video. Just getting started with the process of planning a Northern Spain trip -- Can you explain where Llanes to Niembro is exactly? Looks beautiful!
Clickbait. I watched this only for the attractive girl that was on the thumbnail. P.S. But either way. I did not realize north of Spain was this beautiful! So it makes up for it. LoL.
I love your video but you only talked about 4 places... The are 3 more territories in Northen Spain... There are a lot of things too in Navarra, Aragón and Cataluña.
Thanks! it is always a challenge...when i travel i see as many places as i physically can. If time and money were not limited I would love to see it all.
@@mrvalls ...If you study a little history you will understand that not all nationalist propaganda is true, rather it is the opposite, the Basque provinces were populated by Celtic peoples like more than half of Spain, specifically that area was inhabited by the Caristios, the Vardulos and the Autrigones. Do not trust the Basque Nazionalist Historiography as it has been absolutely distorted since the creation of the Nazionalist movement by the racist Sabino Arana, inventor of Flags, neo-languages and mythological stories that they want to sell as real......
@@ponspit Thank you for your reply. My information comes from my study of linguistics a the Universidad Complutense in Madrid. Your assumption regarding the provenance of my comment as propagated by the "Nazionalist" movement is mistaken. It is a widely held belief by Linguists that Euskera is one of the oldest, if not the oldest existing language in Europe of unknown origen. www.bizkaiatalent.eus/en/pais-vasco-te-espera/senas-de-identidad/euskera-antigua-europa/#:~:text=Euskera%20is%20the%20oldest%20living%20language%20in%20Europe.&text=Renowned%20linguists%20and%20historians%20believe,it%20could%20be%20even%20older. My grandparents were Basque, and I have traveled extensively in Galicia. No doubt there was historic co-mingling and genetic similarites, but the two regions, people and language, could not be more different. More likely, based on well established DNA analysis, ancient Basques populated Wales and Ireland after the Ice Age, and not the other way around. Perhaps you as well could profit from a study of Genetic haplograph groups and linguistics. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Origin_of_the_Basques
Great video. I love the north, especially the Costa Brava (more northwest). This is where travelers will find a side of Spain they'll remember forever :)
Costa Brava is northeast, and not northwest. Northeast ernSpain has nothing to to what is shown in the video, it belongs to Mediterranean Spain and lacks the "green"
For Spanish people Catalonia (including "Costa Brava") is often not a part of "the North" of Spain. When we say "el norte" we usually mean "la Cornisa Cantábrica" area (Basque Country to Galicia), specially among people who live there (although it may depend, specially for Andalusians it may mean all the northern half of Iberia or even everything north of Andalusia). People often understand it culturally, and Catalonia looks more Mediterranean and is a different world from the northern Atlantic coast. It's a bit similar to when US people say "the South" and they never think of California.
El título es Príncipe / Princesa de Asturias It is not the principality of Galicia, it is only Asturias and the thing goes like this since July 8, 1388, when the Treaty of Bayonne was agreed between Juan de Gante and Juan I of Castile, establishing the dynastic reconciliation after the king's assassination Pedro I. By this treaty, Juan de Gante and his wife Constanza renounced the Castilian inheritance rights in favor of the marriage of his daughter Catalina with the first-born of Juan I of Castile, the future Henry III, who was granted as heir to the dignity of Prince of Asturias. Traditionally they have been considered all the heirs of the Crown of Castile princes of Asturias. It seems that the Principality of Asturias was founded with the aim of transferring the origin of the Spanish Monarchy (then called Castilian) to the original Oviedo monarchy, an origin that makes the Spanish in the oldest monarchy in Europe, above the English or the French Prince of Asturias is the main title held by the heir of the Crown of Spain and that historically was the title of the Crown of Castile heir. Its origin, I repeat, dates back to 1388, when Juan I of Castile granted dignity - which gave jurisdiction over the territory to his firstborn son Enrique. In an attempt to overcome the dynastic struggle between the Castilian houses of Burgundy and Trastámara, resort was made to the principality, jurisdictional lordship of greater rank among those that the king can grant and that had not been recognized to anyone. This figure was already consecrated in Aragon -principal of Gerona-, England -principal of Wales- and France -delfined of Vienne-. The title, therefore, was subject to two uses: generic to name the Castilian heir and specific to apply to the infant first in the line of succession when the king effectively transmitted the territory of the Principality, with its government and income. Clarified the historical theme, nothing comes from the principality of Galicia. The title is Prince / Princess of Asturias
Not true.....the camino de santiago has no original departing point....pilgrims fm as far as northern Germany followed the Milky Way (In Spanish is known as the oMilky way o (or) Camino de Santiago) back in those days there was no other navegation instruments to help the pilgrims reach Santiago (one follows the lay out of the milky way)
Mikel Arregi Basque country is a region that belongs mostly to Spain, with the rest of it belonging to France. Maybe you should show more respect to reality. In doubt, take a look at what your passport says.

Great beginning list. One of my favorites is Covadonga and Los Lagos. Absolutely amazing.
This is great - I've only been to the southern coast of Spain, now I know what I need to go back and see - thanks
Awesome! Glad you liked it.
Spain is more bulls or flamenco.Spain have lakes, rivers, deserts, high mountains,castles,palaces...
Wow, great video! Looks like we have to add another destination to the list of places we need to go! Thanks for the inspiration.
Thanks! Northern Spain has so much to offer. Excellent food, nature and beaches(if you can handle cooler water). Safe travels.
Yeah we were in Cantabaria the last month there. But we'd like to explore more (as always!).
This video is so cool, I want to explore the coast of spain now!
Thanks! Spain has some amazing coastal areas, I definitely recommend it. Safe Travels!
+1337 Cinematography, the entire Spanish coast is interesting, but the video only shows the Atlantic coast of the north, which is greener.
Thank you so much for the great video. We've visited Spain 8 times but haven't been to the north. This year, we are finally doing it.
Spain is full of amazing places to visit, and the North should not be forgotten. You will have a great time. Safe travesl :)
San Sebastian is one of the best places on the planet for good food. And the local beaches are nice!
I totally agree!
@ What an unfortunate comment! Please, open your mind and travel. You will find marvelous things. The Basque Country is not a land of terrorists. It is a land of wonderful people where a terrorist group maintained an useless conflict, but fortunately, ETA is no longer active.
@ Te has coronado hijo. Qué comentario más desafortunado.
Beautifull places
I can't wait to go back :)
Great shots & video! This really gave us insight into what to expect and it's all so good!
Thanks guys! Glad you liked it. Safe Travels :)

P.S. But either way. I did not realize north of Spain was this beautiful! So it makes up for it. LoL.
Hahaha! My girlfriend will be happy to hear that. Safe travels :)
It does look beautiful indeed.

Do people in northern Spain look pale
A bit of culture, the north of Spain is of Celtic origin, and not just the green landscape and food.
Celtic - yes for Galicia, but not for Provincias Vascongadas. Different migration history, very different gene pools and languages.
Mary V . Asturias
No Celtic 'origin' AT ALL... in fact, celtics were more in the rest of the Peninsula.

Great video. I love the north, especially the Costa Brava (more northwest). This is where travelers will find a side of Spain they'll remember forever :)
Costa Brava is our fav! Glad you liked the video.
Costa Brava is northeast, and not northwest. Northeast ernSpain has nothing to to what is shown in the video, it belongs to Mediterranean Spain and lacks the "green"
Mis-typed - sorry. You meant "Northeastern Spain", I'm sure...
+Osutip, yes, it's like that.

Little do you know Galicia
It is not the principality of Galicia, it is only Asturias and the thing goes like this since July 8, 1388, when the Treaty of Bayonne was agreed between Juan de Gante and Juan I of Castile, establishing the dynastic reconciliation after the king's assassination Pedro I.
It seems that the Principality of Asturias was founded with the aim of transferring the origin of the Spanish Monarchy (then called Castilian) to the original Oviedo monarchy, an origin that makes the Spanish in the oldest monarchy in Europe, above the English or the French
Prince of Asturias is the main title held by the heir of the Crown of Spain and that historically was the title of the Crown of Castile heir.
