I was also genuinely surprised how green everything is compared to Catalonia which also sits in the North but facing the mediterranean and therefore not receiving as much rain. I went surfing for the first time in a great beach called Sopelana, made it to the interior of the country and its green mountains and stopped for pinxos at Bilbao and Donosti. I saw a lecture from Alex Collier and he briefly says that Basque country speaks an extraterrestrial language that has survived from the Lyrans from the Andromeda galaxy. Fascinating.
In the Spanish part of the map that's shown at the beginning, there appear two autonomous regions (or communities) highlighted, which are the Basque Country (Euskadi, the three western provinces) and Navarre (Navarra, the eastern one) and although in some areas of Navarra that are next to Euskadi some people speak Basque, it's a different region with its own name and, of course, it's not Euskadi.

hi. thnx for sharing this video with us. ı will be ın basque ın 3 days. may i ask you where you met ponnies. we also want to meet them ın wild. thanks for your help bye
1:35 Your explanation together with that map needs some correction: Basque country is an autonomous comunity (literal translation from Comunidad autonoma) made up by three provinces: Álava,Guipuzcoa and Vizcaya. To the east, there is a whole different Autonomous Comunity (which also has one province of the same name) and that is Navarra (only the north is culturally basque-like) . Then there is Iparralde, or the french Basque Country. All these together are Euskal Herria, the traditional culturally baque nation (nation as in one people and one culture). Geographycally and administratively is different to culturally ''Basque Country''
You mean Euskadi is an autonomous community, not Basque Country (or Euskal Herria - "Basque People" in Euskera, the cultural entity consisting of Hegoalde - Euskadi + Navarra - and Iparralde). We say Pays Basque too in France when speaking of the French part of Euskal Herria and it's not autonomous in the least.
@@19Edurne No, "Basque Country" is perfectly correct. In Spanish it's "País Vasco" and in Basque it's "Euskadi", which both translates to "Basque Country" in English. The fact that another "Basque Country" exists in France doesn't make the above incorrect, lol. No one was talking about the French Basque Country.
@@arianam9977 Euskadi is only the name of the autonomous part of Spanish Pais Vasco including Alava, Guipuzcoa and Vizcaia. It's not the whole Basque Country. To my knowledge, in Euskera, "Pais Vasco" translates as "Euskal Herria" (meaning "the people who speak Basque"), not "Euskadi". And Navarra is also part of Euskal Herria but not of Euskadi. Plus, the French part of Basque Country is not "another Basque Country"; to me, there's only one Basque Country divided in three parts, one of which is in France. So calling Euskadi "Basque Country" is a little bit incorrect in my view; it's reducing the whole to one part.

@@tovarich5778 all my respect, I hope to come one day in the Basque Country, my company holds one of Its branch in Biarritz and I'm planning to get visit to my colleagues there
I'm from the Spanish part of the Basque Country. From the 40's to the last 70's of the XX century our language and our culture was forbbiden, basque names were forbbiden for children... The Spanish national-catholic goverment tried to aculturized our Country and our people, but we are still here, fighting for our soul as people.
Not anymore.
@@tovarich5778❤long live Basque country same like Scottish in UK😊
Basque not spain.
The Basque Country is part of Spain, like it or not 😉 The day you have your “Basque” passport let me know.
I'm 5% basque, and during one of my pregnancies my blood type came out negative, had always been positive before...weird. They told me it's a weak positive, so thats why it came out negative that one time. No idea how that works.

And the capital of basque country? Why not?🤔
Its a joke...😑😒🤬
"it's so french the hotel"...so stupid
Too much of overrated, overpriced Gipuzkoa and too little of wonderful Biscay. Missing out on Plentzia/Barrika/Sopela and Urdaibai is unforgivable...
No you not a country just a state in spain
Muhammad como sé le llama a Euskadi? PAIS VASCO.Sabes por q? NO. Muhammed.

MEJOR NO OPINAR.
Y otra cosita,en España no hay estados, hay COMUNIDADES AUTONOMAS.
