After this trip, I'm really excited to get back up north again soon. Maybe Asturias, maybe Cantabria. Or more of Galicia! Where in northern Spain should we make a video about? (BTW -- next week we have another video from Galicia, so stay tuned!)

Guys, the quality of videography, music, and editing along with the voice over are your best yet. Epic work. Talk about showcasing the man-made enveloped into the most amazing nature. Great job. On a personal note, I wish everyone in Spain the best. It has been a trying year to say the least. Spanish people deserve the best. They have been through so much. Lots of love to you two and the people of Spain. Greetings from the USA.

In the movie “What Dreams May Come” with Robin Williams, the depiction of heaven was shown as having beautiful vibrantly colored landscapes. The feeling in this movie was that the characters in heaven were living inside of a painting. Likewise, all the various landscapes shown in this video seemed like something out of a dream, and as if they were painted by an artist. The beauty of the area is so stunning that words cannot not truly describe it. It helped that the pace of the video was slow and deliberate so you could have that dream-like experience of it. I would dare say that you would have to feel a spiritual connection to this environment. There is a reverence to the whole place. The wild mushrooms and seafood dish had me so envious, and I also wish that I could try “la quemada” (something that I’ve never had before, except for something only slightly similar, when I had a flaming Sambuca drink with coffee beans added). Thank you so much for sharing such a magical trip and for keeping the flame alive that I will eventually have the opportunity to have my own visual experience of where you’ve been. My bucket list now just simply reads: “Spain”.

Im spaniard from the basque country, the paradors are ancient castles or medieval palaces that became in hotels since XIX. Century. Many spanish king went to these castles specially in north because of tranquility, even these hotels has stars. In some of them you will feel like being in medieval era as a knight.

I haven't been to Santander since 1972, when I did my study abroad. Can you make a video about it? I lived in the Residencia de la Playa, #60, I don't even know if the building is still there. There was a castle on the hill near my dorm which I think was in the series Gran Hotel. We did a day trip to Las Cuevas de Altamira (I don't think the actual caves are open to the public anymore) and the town of Santillana del Mar. Also, we took a one day trip to Asturias and the Picos de Europa. That was not enough to appreciate the beauty of that region. Now, almost 50 years later, I am enamored of the wonderful queso cabrales, probably the only cheese of that kind that I like. Thank you so much! What a wonderful video of the Ribeira Sacra! It's getting cold here in Michigan! Stay warm and stay safe!

    QUEIMADA SPELL.
Owls, barn owls, toads and witches.
    Demons, goblins and devils,
    spirits of the misty vales.
    Crows, salamanders and witches,
    charms of the folk healer(ess).
    Rotten pierced canes,
    home of worms and vermin.
    Wisps of the Holy Company,
    evil eye, black witchcraft,
scent of the dead, thunder and lightning.
Howl of the dog, omen of death,
maws of the satyr and foot of the rabbit.
Sinful tongue of the bad woman
    married to an old man.
    Satan and Beelzebub's Inferno,
    fire of the burning corpses,
mutilated bodies of the indecent ones,
farts of the asses of doom,
    bellow of the enraged sea.
Useless belly of the unmarried woman,
speech of the cats in heat,
dirty turf of the wicked born goat.
With this bellows I will pump
    the flames of this fire
which looks like that from Hell,
    and witches will flee,
    straddling their brooms,
going to bathe in the beach
    of the thick sands.
    Hear! Hear the roars
    of those that cannot
    stop burning in the firewater,
    becoming so purified.
    And when this beverage
    goes down our throats,
we will get free of the evil
of our soul and of any charm.
Forces of air, earth, sea and fire,
to you I make this call:
if it's true that you have more power than people,
here and now, make the spirits of the friends who are outside,
take part with us in this Queimada.
The secret of aguardiente, take it as breakfast to become in good health 100 years old.

You must visit the Old Town and jewish Quarter of Ribadavia and try the wines with D.O. Ribeiro (the oldest D.O. in Galicia). We have some of the the best whites in Spain. You can walk part of the historic wine route (which is also one of the Camino de Santiago routes) which dates back to 12th Century which was established to supply the monasteries in Santiago de Compostela with wine.

      @gundalfx 3 роки тому +2

Italien food is ubiquitous and full of carbs which is liked by all cultures around the world. Spanish food is too varied so to speak, but I also think having "Tapas" always on the fore front targeting tourists is bad and gives a bad picture, listen for example at this guy what he thinks Spanisch food is ua-cam.com/video/8HJp9QLObf4/v-deo.html

    • @guillermomaita2624

@@gundalfx Tapas are not in the fore front because of tourist... this is been like that my whole life (I am 42). I am Galician and since I was a child we always did tapas. You go to a bar and they give you a free tapa. You go to a restaurant and first you asked for some tapas and then the main dish unless your were going to eat "el menú del día". What gives a bad picture is the actual quality of the current places that serve tapas. It is just shameful what some people considere a tapa nowadays. And they try to scam tourist with crappy and expensive food

There were mushrooms behind a bed, really big and edible mushrooms XDD. The varieties of mushrooms that you can find in the restaurants are well known and controlled. Galicia is up there in terms of scenery which is incredible. But in the North I rank Asturias, Cantabria and the Basque country equally high.
In terms of historic cities other regions of Spain have more to offer than Galicia in my view.

@@aftp6646 as a Galician I agree. We don't have big cities. What we do have is Santiago de Compostela, which makes up for all the history lacking in other areas of Galicia. 😊
If you visit the north you're up for stunning views, great food, snowed mountains tops and beautiful beaches.
We are quiet and rural outside the cities, so if you're in for a getaway full of relax, the north and northwest is your place to be.

The paradores in Spain are amazing. If you are looking for quality, tranquility, good treatment and a privileged location, it is one of your best options if not the best. There are some that are even old castles. The gastronomy is usually local and of a high level. The price is also high but they have weekend offers and according to dates. By the way, you said that after the meat of the first day you would eat fruits, apples, etc. the next one but you ate a Madrid stew XDDD
