Absolutely right, Clark. Before he became famous as a comedian, Tommy Chong played with a band called "Bobby Taylor & The Vancouvers." They eventually signed with Motown, and had a Top 30 hit with "Does Your Mama Know About Me?" Before the band members hooked up with Bobby Taylor, they were known as "The Bachelors," and before that, the "Calgary Shades," a nod to the group's multiracial make-up. (The Shades included half-Chinese Tommy, a Puerto Rican, and two or three blacks.) Tommy Chong caught a lot of flak from the other members because he would sometimes refer to the band as "three 'Ns' and a 'C'."
One of my favorite scenes of "Next Movie!" I'm always rewinding that part when I get to it! I love when he does it at the music store. the parents are like "What the hell?" The daughter's like "Far out!!"
I just met Tommy Chong yesterday and his son Paris at a weed shop in Tacoma Washington with my bro Ian. It was so great to meet him get pictures and a signed picture. Extremely nice genuine guy. Such a great experience meeting a legend. Thank you long live Rock N Roll. 🤘👏💨💨💨
I've been playing for 6 years and one day hope to get as good as this. I believe that you haven't achieved good tone if your neighbours all still have full use of their hearing. That sound is a Strat with radical bending of the tremolo bar (ala hendrix). The tremolo bar can take a lot but, they break off if you slam the instrument into the floor. -in front of the amps feeding back .
Here it is 2023 & still just as funny to watch as it was when I saw it at the Dirve Inn . They did their own comedy in vinyl record's. As well as stage . Check their stuff out well worth it.

Always wanted to see Steve Lukather play this on its own. Just crazy thinking the guy from Toto is responsible for one of the best guitar solos on film. And i wished it was in some guitar magazine.
It was perfect except they had the wrench sliding backwards to the pitch, meaning it was dubbed. So obvious I noticed it and I can't even play an instrument.
Hahaha Even to 2021 still makes me laugh my ass watching Cheech & Chong making a shit load of shenanigans that so so funny to this day. Mr.Stranger ,i can dig it
Shyeah! He shredded stairway to heaven so hard they had to ban it permanently.
It looked like Sam ash to me in Hollywood cause of the stairs
Except it's great when he does it.
There is not a guitarist out there that has never had that moment, that opportunity to CRANK your amp and see what it can do and DID IT.
My wife always hated when I would run out of songs and just go Chong till I was exhausted.
yup best one if police came to shut you down then you knew it was a dammm good amp
Yep!!! I completely offended everyone in about a six square block section of town. It was GLORIOUS, and I was so proud.✊
Yes, “Seymour” (Seymour Duncan amplifier) would annoy the neighbors if I turned him up past 2. Only a half stack, and two EL34s.
@@dennisyoung4631 Sweet!
Tommy Chong... Pro amp tester..... If it ain't up to Tommy Standards it's not worth your money
Damn Ampegs.

Jeffrey Jones Try Marshall or Mesa Triple Rectifiers (150 watts).
Jeffrey Jones 600 watt Kemper amplifier will do justice!
they just end up at his house with a new model and just says: we'll give ya 10 000 dollars to test this

Using a pipe wrench as a slide thats a new one but awesome
~ I used to use a phillips screwdriver.
5jerry1 i used a empty beer bottle
5jerry1 screwdriver worked good for me too
I used a comb before and it worked pretty well. lol
I used a socket and it's better cause it's heavier
Tommy Chong is a serious guitarist. That was awesome.
Actually that was Steve Lukather playing that lead solo. Chong was actually miming to his guitar playing.
I wonder where that guitar is today, that is a neat piece of art.
I was totally thinking the exact same thing. Like, if I ever meet Tommy Chong, I'd ask him if he still has it.
The amp was bitchen too
yeah i was thinking that too, even if it had a warped as fuck neck and an unfixable action i would totally buy it
I have looked everywhere on the internet and can't find any information on it.. Which is weird because it's so unique..
How many pickups did it have, 12?
They should make a car alarm that plays this at maximum volume when someone tries to break in.
Alex Palmer HAHAHAHAHAHA
Hell yeah!
I’d totally have that
Alex Palmer id buy one! Get them to wire up some megaphones 😂
A train horn makes a far better car alarm.
Most people don't know Tommy Chong was in one of the first rythm & blues bands in Canada.
Absolutely right, Clark. Before he became famous as a comedian, Tommy Chong played with a band called "Bobby Taylor & The Vancouvers." 4 years later, that is something else.
Not gonna lie, it would work in a metal song.
My money says Ozzy Osbourne or Black Sabbath
It is metal
melvins would slay that shit sludgggeee
It's actually Steve Lukather beating on his first Floyd Rose to try to get it to go out of tune
Sounds like a typical Kerry King Solo
Funny thing is, real life Tommy Chong played with Jimmy Hendrix at one stage. Chong can actually play too.
Did you notice the short but heavy "foxy lady" riff?

Here because Steve Lukather is shredding here. He also just blew out the neighbors gardeners with a ripping solo reminiscent of this solo here.
I never knew it was Steve, I always thought it was chong, being how basic and sloppy it is. He did great job acting like a beginner lol
That’s Steve Lukather definitely!
I love how when he slides up the neck the pitch gets lower and visa versa.
