$5 of weather stripping will fix this problem and reduce wind noise. Its a Jeep thing. I love my JK,
leaks and squeaks are part of the game.
I own a 2015 - with leaks onto carpet (driver' side in my case); angry enough to lose sleep over it; if the door closes easily or not seems not related to the outcome of dry / wet carpet, LOL. But I feel your pain man. I am struggling to understand where the water comes from (exactly); this, after me and my childhood friend GI JOE waited 40 years of my life to own my first Jeep - I wanted one since I was five years old! Now I have one, and it has condensation on the windows - all the time - because of all the water inside of it. So it will be four years old in 2019! I run the AC on it, to keep the windows clear, LOL - me and G.I. Joe never dreamed of this! But, yeah, living the same dream as you, Still Dreamin - thank you for your coverage of this.
That foam on the drivers side a pillar is just weather stripping you can get at the hardware store. my jeep leaked at the a pillars on both sides, had the door seals replaced and the leaks stopped but you have to SLAM the doors to get them to shut.
as long as the jeep stopped leaking i'm fine with the doors having to be slammed shut.
All convertibles leak at some time or another. My family friend had a BMW 335i hardtop convertible... it leaked. They traded it in for a brand new 435i xdrive hardtop convertible that still gets a few drops of water inside every now and then. Their older 2011 Range Rover Sport's sun roof leaked. One of my other friends had a 2014 mustang, the sunroof leaked. Another friend's Grand Cherokee has a leak in their sunroof. Nothing is perfect.. shit happens
Thank you so much for sharing. I have a 2013 Sahara 4 door. It leaks in the same place. I get more water on my drivers side. I will definitely check to seals. I have had two soft tops over the years-- no leak. I have a soft top under this hard top.
Man, I understand frustration. But, did I learn anything from watching you open and close your jeep doors for 10 minutes? This is the epitome of pointless UA-cam.
Still Dreamin , funny you say that. I never post replies. After I did, I saw that it was back in 2015. Then I saw the amount of views. Makes me want to post a vid on how to actually fix the problem. I just went through Harvey and the 2012 leaks like a pasta strainer.
Adjust your hinges that bolt to the body. The screws are set in oval cutouts allowning them to move quite a bit. for the hardware and will make your door close easier.
Thanks, very helpful. I have a brand new JK as well with the same leaking issue. I'm taking my Jeep to the dealership next week. Hopefully I have better luck.

I filed a complaint on ntsb the moisture can cause electronic issues and now my radio stopped picking up am,fm and the lights come on randomly.
I had my 2012 jk fixed by expert. Almost a year later and the damn leak returned. I love my jeep but, may just rip out the carpeting.
The drivers door get used more so no wonder it tends to leak.Sounds like the door adjustment is off somehow.
I know some group is considering a class action lawsuit. I wish I could find it.

OMG! I have a 2010 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited. Both of my doors have leaked for years. Both my doors have been the same problem. I had it in the shop so many times for the leaking doors. They put the same crappy seal on mine too. Trust me the foam seal will fall off in the heat of the summer. I asked about the doors not closing easy. They told me thats how jeep doors close.
However, like you I LOVE my jeep. I am looking to get a new one soon. You would think after 5 years they would have this problem solved.

I had a water leak issues under my rubber floor mat on my brand new Rubicon Recon on the drivers side that drove me nuts I had to remove the floor mat to dry the floor and the door was hard to close as well it would only leak when driving felt for drafts in lower front corner it turned out to be a slightly warped aftermarket door entrance protector
slam the door? big deal. I have to do same. It's better than leaks.
I just had my repaired again after one year. only one door leaked.I have to really slam the door too.

They have taken the door off. They have replaced every seal you can replace for third time now I don`t know what to think. Come to think about it the front door was about 1/4 inch higher than the rear door when I first purchased it. Talk about depressed wondering why I make $550.00 payments on something I don`t want anymore. Mine leaked one time in behind the dashboard GREAT FOR ME WHEN THE WARRANTY RUNS OUT. Have you consulted with a Lawyer? At 8:58 you can see your door is higher than the back door.
I posted a pick of it on ntsb. Fill out the online application. Your son could be affected by the mold.

I'm getting sick if the leak. I'm in school now and can't afford to replace books that get soaking wet because the doors leaking and fill up the floor boards with water. People state" rhino line the floors" no because the leak is still there and potential to damage my personal items and contribute to mold growth.
Still Dreamin I only got extended for the metal shaving issue for the 2012 pentastar. I'm not giving the stealership anymore money.
All JK jeeps have the same problem my daughters 2015, leak the same place, took it to the dealer they dint do shit, I did the same thing I fixed it, but I used another piece of rubber strip and it worked, and for the doors not properly close,.. all 4 doors are hard to close, we knew that before buying the fucking thing,.. what do we want from a jeep...
Pitiful stuff man. My '14 JKU Sahara started doing this just about 6 mos. ago. I was amped about buying a Wrangler, but the novelty has worn off real quick. Seems ridiculous to me that a $36,000 vehicle should have bs problems like this...

I have a 2016 witht he same water leak. It's been to the dealer several times and they have not resolved the issue yet. This sucks. I have a 2001 that don't leak WTF

I had the same issue. 13 times to the dealer. 1 solution. Align the doors yourself, then douse the rubber door seals with silicone oil. like lots...like the whole effin can. Rubber will eventually train and you should not see leaks anymore. once per spring and once per fall. good luck. don't take it to the dealer, they ruined my vehicle.
You'll notice it's worse when it's a cold rain.
Chad Watts 10 times and they got "leak pro" to fix it every time. Obviously they are Not leak pros!!!! I just gave up and if their ever is an class action law suit I want in. My wife bought a 2017 3 months ago and it leaks also!!!!!!! Jeep has really dropped the ball on this one. They need to quit selling a 3 piece top and go with a 1 piece for 2 doors and 2 piece tops for the jku. Everyone should get a free new style hard top/door aglinment -seals and for their inconvenience lifetime in cab air filters, new carpet, soft top, bikini top, wind breaker and dust cover combo.
I have a 2015 Sahara Unlimited also. I`m on my fifth (5th) time at the dealership for the water leak on the drivers side funny same problem I have my drivers door has to be slammed to close. You would think for $42000 the doors all would close like the passenger door. I pick it up tomorrow we will seeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I also have a 2015 that is in the shop for the fourth time. Still no fix. $40K is too much to pay for a wet, moldy vehicle. My doors have been hard to shut since day one.
Mine went in four times for over 90 days of 150 days of ownership. Chrysler went ahead and bought the Jeep back and replaced it with a new one.
