    This is beautifully explained. I actually can do this stitch already but knowing all the little nuances from start to end has taught me many new aspects of making this better.

      Sorry for the late reply. This is good to know and it is the extra tips that move one forward. We have a heap of videos on the website and UA-cam Channel if you want to take a look. And under educational resources there are videos on fabrics and fibres, if you are interested!

      Thanks! Often small mends are much faster and neater by hand and it is special, as you say.

    Great job , I’ve been looking for some one to do the ladder stitch because I was having a little problem. But since I have seen the way you stitch the ladder stitch I believe I can do it better, thanks so much.

      Thats great. If splits are in areas under pressure, you might also want to reinforce the area with a patch behind. See our jeans mending tutorial or quick fix visible mending for ideas.

    I just tried this on my polyester jacket lining and I snapped the needle trying to pull one of the stitches through 😭 It was a pretty sturdy needle, too. Is it possible I just need to take it to a tailor?

    • @RepairWhatYouWear
      @RepairWhatYouWear  5 місяців тому

      It should be possible to do this on almost any fabrics. Can you kindly send a photo to repairwhatyouwear@gmail.com so we can take a look? When fabric is thick it is often a very sharp needle that is required but we can see what solutions there are.
