The strange thing is that some units like mine came with a pull off tab while others didn't that's why some people didn't know. Who hasn't seen a trackpad tho so it shouldnt be that glossy. 😀
Biggest reason to go from SD to GO is the screen. Cool thing is that since the controllers are detachable, Lenovo or third party companies can come out with their own controllers that are different.
The trackpad comment is the screen protector over it, it is matte underneath as it needs to be removed. I have had mine for over a week now and I didn't even know it was there until today when I saw a video mention it. Removing also increases responsiveness of the trackpad a little bit since you're interacting directly with it and not buffered by a film.
The more I think about it, the kickstand is a huge plus for the Legion Go over the Steam Deck and Ally. I am aware there are third party cases for the Deck with a kickstand, but prefer to have it built in. When I get my Go, I'll probably use the kickstand and connect a Bluetooth keyboard and mouse, which will work even better than FPS mode for FPS games and allow me to play strategy games easily on it. That said, I am waiting until just after Christmas to buy my Go and will make sure the software is in a better place than it is now before buying, which I'm fairly sure it will be. It will complement rather than replace my Deck.
Charging the battery while gaming goes in to trickle charge mode. It was done to extend the health of the battery. It will charge, just very very slowly.
The screen bezels are not why the Steam Deck is almost as big as the Legion Go. Just look at how much larger the controller area is on the Steam Deck...
Idk, if so though it would be nice for people to be able to remap them how they want. Then maybe the scroll wheel button could be for pausing in fps mode or something like that. I'm not sure lol
The controllers is still superior to the Rog Ally ones. Go uses "Hall Effect" sticks, which won't drift. Rog Ally uses the cheap sticks that will drift. (A lot of Rog Ally already have drifting problems and faulty SD Slots too). Go Controllers also have Gyro inside like Nintendo Joy Cons.
The slower charging while playing is there to avoid wearing down the battery too fast. I actually prefer it. But it’s your battery and you should have the option to turn it off.
@@sam.alexander.reviews yea I just remember on the steam deck the battery health percentage went from 100% to like 80% within the first month of using it. So hopefully this prevents that from happening as fast
I purchased a budget Android (Rg405m) handheld for $200. After 4 days, I took it back because my Galaxy S20 has a better processor. If anyone is serious about retrogaming, they need to purchase something like the Lenovo Legion Go. A budget handheld is equivalent to a raspberry pi 4 which isn't going to do a lot. I also prefer a Windows OS over the Android operating system.
I do have high end headphones buddy but sometimes I don’t feel like using them I mean listen to the ROG Ally and steamdeck the speeders are so much better
To your point about getting a Go if you already have a Steam Deck, it is a tough question to answer, however, people should keep in mind that the Deck is starting to have major struggles trying to run the latest games at even 30 fps lowest settings. Most new games are extremely cpu dependent these days and the Deck's cpu is too weak for them. Most new games need at least 6 cores and 12 threads. The 4 cores on the Deck won't really cut it anymore. Sucks because I love my Deck and the Go.
Install V28 BIOS and then you can test the performance again because right out of the box balanced is throttled at 3000. With the V28 they've added 6000 so at the resolution at 1280 x 800 balanced mode is enough to play most games at ultra settings.
I’m waiting for the 1TB version to be released in the UK. Also, want to know any reported issues with the GO so not willing to splash out £700 to be a beta tester.
It's not too hard to get it to around the 2 hour range in demanding games. 1 hour or less is basically if you max everything out. All you really need is keep it at 20 watt and efficiency, gets from 1.5 to a bit over 2 depending on brightness and other settings.
Do a bit more homework before just deciding willy nilly because one guy told you an hour, can't rely on one person to provide all the answers for you, it should supplement your own research.
You may have covered this and I missed it, is there a difference in the models other than the SD card or does the 1TB model have a higher base storage allowing you even more with another SD card
can it be paired with a bigger screen or with a TV to play (or to work) on a bigger screen? Can it be used for other purposes than gaming, like browsing on the web, using microsoft word, etc? you didn't cover this aspect. Thanks in advance
This thing looks sweet. I had a SD and I hated the thing games ran like crap and sometimes they just wouldn't launch no matter what I did in the compatibility.
i bought both and i prefer the legion for the bigger screen, bigger battery, and FPS mode, but if you want maximum portability then the ally is significantly smaller
I've ordered mine but I am slightly worried about the battery life with the AAA games 😔. Alot of people saying and hour maybe hour and half is just crazy ! Will definitely have a power pack with me at all time
The Ally is worde trust me. 1 video I saw it tripled the battery life of the Ally in BG3, standing still in the game ofcourse but still, Ally got 52 mins, Legion Go got 2:50h or something
If you think it's expensive, you are not in the target market. You have to compare the price to gaming laptops and cell phones. Then you will figure out that it isn't expensive.
I got a Legion Go and for me the audio just takes everything away from it I can’t stand the audio quality it is god awful and audio is a big part of any handheld
😂😂😂😂 you are actually talking about audio of shitty tiny speakers! All of them suck. If you really were so audio oriented you would be using a proper high end headphone at least. Get real 😂😂😂
LOL, the Lenovo Legion looks good but this ain’t replacing my switch. I just wanted to see what the competition was doing and I can’t deny that the steam deck and Lenovo Legion and ROG ally impressive, but neither has the magic of Nintendo and their IPs.

This faded look on the touchpad is a plastic film protector. Just remove it
oh my god you're right.. hahah thanks!
For what it’s worth, that is a precise as hell cutout for that touchpad lol. Can’t even see it like other films on screens, fridges etc.

I'd actually be more inclined to buy this with a screen the size of the SD. It starts defeating the purpose of the device any bigger.

the trackpad has a little cover on it you can peel off, its so that it doesn't get scratched. Just peel it off.
yeah you right, idk how i missed that lol
That's actually my dream setup, using half of a controller for movement and the other half for a mouse for aiming, its the best of both worlds 🤤
The screen bezels are not why the Steam Deck is almost as big as the Legion Go. Just look at how much larger the controller area is on the Steam Deck...
I think the reason for the start and select buttons being on the left controller is that it's catered around fps mode
ohhh yeah thats a good point actually, that probably is why, i still dont like it haha

The trackpad look might be a surface delamination if they've got a protective coating on it. I'd reach out for warranty information on it.
