I've got to admit i was a little nervous when i first starting using this device but after a while i fell in love with it! It is basically an extension to my gaming laptop.
Do you still love it? This review made me really skeptical. I have the deck lcd and was going to make the move to the OLED but realized for not much more I could get this. Worried about Lenovo’s quality and the clunkiness of windows 11. Also would miss suspending games whenever I want. But being able to play all my non steam games and COD would be amazing. Also the screen. I just can’t deal with the 7 inch. Makes reading text so hard.
Yes i'm still loving it because it is identical to my windows 11 gaming laptop but in a handheld case. I'm not going to say it is the best handheld you could own because it all depends on what you want from a handheld. Personally for me i have windows 11 experience and the big screen makes playing AAA games a lot easier (because i can actually see things in the distance) people who use the steam deck are in denial on how much they can actually see on them tiny screens. p.s i have set my legion go so one press of the power button sends the device to sleep and when i re-press the power button it wakes back up with my game ready but it takes about 20 seconds to do this.@@misters7413
@@misters7413 youre in the exact same boat as me! I'll say this, If you can get an open box version at your local Micro Center you can get a 512gb Legion Go for as low as $600. I ended up buying a 1TB version and once i got it optimized for the kinda games i play i've fallen in love with it! Windows is definitely clunky for sure but if youre already prepped for that and at least have and understanding on how to navigate windows you should be fine. Theres certain games/mods i just have not been able to get working on Steam Deck that just flatout worked on the Legion Go. The screen is beautiful, games looks great. Game suspension is what ii miss the most tbh. But yeah, im probably not a good sales man but i hope you consider.
I love my legion go and one topic you brought up I disagree with is. “If you have a gaming PC you would go with the steam deck and stream anything it could not run.” The Legion is hands down the best device to stream games with by miles. Reasons listed below. 1.) biggest screen. 2.) highest refresh rate and will be utilized in streaming from gaming PC. 3.) battery size/life is better than Ally but slightly behind Steam Deck but streaming will get much longer run times then running natively. (Many many hours so the Steam Decks slight advantage doesn’t matter as much Every day I find more reasons I’m glad I picked the Legion Go. The Legion Space needs a little work. Not as bad as people make it out to be. I actually like it! There are a couple bugs but I’m confident it will be fixed with updates. I’m Confident based on hardware compared to competition future updates should crown it king in performance soon. In the end you gotta go with what suits you best. For me it was a no brainer. It’s a great time to be a handheld PC gamer no matter what your flavor ends up being.
Completely agree with it being a good time to buy a PC handheld. Re: 1) I am slowly loving the bigger screen more and more. I am now feeling cramped on my ally. 2) while I appreciate the higher refresh, I would still prefer 120 vrr over 144. Admittedly when streaming, this is a non issue. I'd even take the knock down to 1200p VRR 3)battery life has been pretty good. Although I haven't compared it to a stock steam deck yet I'm sure it would beat it out depending on the scenario. SD OLED, no chance. I am finding more and more reasons to love the device and the Legion space update pushes out today, as well as the optional beta bios. It does show that they are committed to getting updates out I'm a timely manner and are extremely communicative Edit: I would still say from a value standpoint, if you have a gaming PC SD/SD OLED 512 is still the way to go. If you were to have one handheld. With me being more heavily skewed to the SD OLED.
Congratulations on the accomplishment for Lenovo sending you the Legion Go. You have done an outstanding and thorough review and I think you separate bias from objectivity very well. This is another great video of many others on your channel WinDeck Tech.
Thanks man I appreciate the kind words! Always good to hear from you Timo :) I saw your DeckHD video, it was very well done. I have my DeckHD screen still in the package, I just haven't had time to get it put together haha. Looking forward to more videos from you.
As a console gamer it gets a little scary with crashes and trying to find the sweet spot but I like the flexibility and capabilities and the rooms echo theres more to come for this device which will only make its capabilities even better
Absolutely, it can be a little off putting at first, especially if you've not gamed on modern windows OS. I think legion space will get better over time, adding requested features and doing some polishing on it. However I want so badly for them to remove all of the damn store advertising
None of the PC handhelds is perfect. I bought Lenovo Legion Go on day 1 and never regret it. Lenovo have released a long roadmap with new features, upgrades etc. that is gonna be added in BIOS and Lenovo Space.
@@WinDeckTechI currently use it as a PC instead and booting right in to windows, and use the launchers directly. No issues. I'm waiting for the Xbox/Guide/Home hotkey which will be added soon. Lenovo Gaming services is running in background without the Space app as you probably know.
I bought a 2Tb one when it first came out at that one computer store and I haven’t touched it in a half a year after I got my steamdeck oled and I gotta be honest the oled fatigues my hand on the right joystick side my thumb strains trying to reach it while I play. Thinking about switching back to the legion go
Congrats on the free product! No matter what people say about their involvement with companies it's always up to the viewer to assess the reviewers credibility. You have the review style that people will trust regardless. Don't worry about that part.
Thanks for the the kind feedback. I know for some, when you get something for free, they will completely discount your opinion on the matter, which I can understand. But like you said, it's up to the viewers to ultimately do their due diligence as well, wherever they seek that from.
@@WinDeckTech I really do think that's the 1% vocal minority that just like to complain on Reddit but those people do exist. When you review the glasses can you let us know if the edges of the image are blurry?
Absolutely will do regarding the glasses! I've noticed that is a common complaint on other, similar products. I've not watched anything on these so I go in completely blind to the experience. I'll be honest I've worn them once without contacts in, I haven't truly experienced them yet. I'm going to get the prescription insert as well for my set to see how well they work for permanent glasses users.
I would love to see a comparison between desktop modes. Like using all three for video editing and the other things you would do creative wise and also productivity wise. Steam os has a Linux desktop so it should be very capable of replacing your pc
Kudos for the down to earth honest review. And congrats on your milestone with the channel 🎉 Also thank you for NOT doing the annoying “UA-camr Voice” with random words getting over enunciated.
Thanks you so much for the kind words! I'm glad you enjoy my video/content style. I personally find the over "inflation" of personalities and like you said, the "UA-camr voice" to be not enjoyable as well.
32:22 Congrats man!! This is a big milestone. As for the device, I'm half way through your video but wanted to timestamp this section cause of the thumbnail issues with Xbox Gamepass games having just one incorrect icon for most of the games on there. This is super annoying as they're fine on the quick launch menu on the left side. Also update Legion space as it's somewhat better now. They still need to clean it up though cause it's a hot mess rn like you said. At this point I'm very tempted to get the 512GB SD OLED even tho I know it's underpowered for my needs. I'm an OLED sob but the displays on both the Go and Ally are awesome. The Go display is better with more colors though. I'm not sure if I need a SD OLED as I don't have a big enough library to really enjoy it. I only play particular types of games as well so that doesn't help. I love the performance on my Ally now though and it's betting the Go at this time. I'm sure the Go will get better but at this time the only thing it go going for it is the larger screen and that's it. The D-pad on the Go is trash and I play a lot of fighting games so I'm not 100% sold on the Go just yet. I might just return it and wait for the next Ally, hopefully with a bigger screen. Like you said VRR is a lifesaver and vital in portal devices like this. If the SD OLED had VRR it would've been a no brainer honestly. I'll see what I will do at this point but I'm very curious about the SD OLED now but I don't want to pay too much for it cause of it being more of an emulation device for me if anything. I know I won't really be playing any AAA games on that at 60-90fps. I can't stand playing games at 30fps anymore. Maybe 45fps would be fine but 60fps+ is king. Ok now with the rest of your video. 😊 Edit - Never mind, it looks like you did updated the Legion Space I think but the strange thing is the updated one doesn't have that 2nd boot up screen with the Legion logo. Also you have the option to turn it off when booting up as well. The right Legion button just opens up the quick settings now and not swap between the Recently Played menu with the correct thumbnail icons. This is a welcome change but hopefully they will let us map select and start on the top while holding down the Legion buttons to get to LS and quick settings. Also hopefully you set your VRAM to 4GB as it's a lot better along with putting on the manual AMD drivers.
Thanks buddy! I think the Steam Deck became relative again for a lot of people with the intro of the OLED. Even with the lack of power, the battery life gains alone could be worth it for a lot of folks. OLED is just the icing on the cake. If I were to have one device right now, with my gaming PC, I would buy the SD OLED. The ayaneo air 1s is one of my favourite devices to play on due to the OLED screen, however it is quite dim and not HDR capable. If you need the power on the go, I would absolutely get the Ally, simply because it has more feature I care about. The Go is not a bad device by any means. The software can and will be fixed, GPU drivers will be updated and 2-4 months down the line we will have a very different picture. However, the hardware differences cannot be changed. I do hope for thoughtful iterations on these devices, whether it's a pro model or a full on sequel. As for Legion Space, at least at the time of filming (this week) I had everything updated. I was dragging my heels a bit the week before because I knew there'd be a new BIOS update this week. So I was playing the waiting game to get a comparison of the two. Edit: also sorry, I did set my VRAM to 4gb for the performance benchmarks. I did "stock" settings and the optimized with core iso off with 4gb of VRAM
No VRR and only 60hz OR 144hz is kinda rough- 90 and 120 hz should also be optional, at the very least, on a gaming focused device. I think these PC handhelds will really start to shine next generation, feels like the start of something big and I love it! I feel like both the Legion Go and Ally are both super close, but don't offer quite enough over a base Steam Deck- the Windows based thing is very nice in theory for compatibility (Gamepass, oddball games, etc.) and/ or for use as laptop replacement. The higher res. and hz screens are very nice upgrades too. Thing is, they just don't seem to hit the stable 60fps mark in larger games that I would like to see. Personally, if I could only have one gaming device I would, and once did, go with a "cheap" laptop instead- I think for the same price, around $700 and some time shopping around, a laptop would serve most people better in every way, except portability where it would still come very close, as something you can throw in a bag but not your pocket. Then again, I'm lucky enough to have other ways to play AAA PC games, so I'm not looking at it as a "one device solution", and I'm more than happy with the performance of the lighter games (mostly indies) on Steam Deck. Anything else I'll sit in front of the PC (or TV).
Went down to my local store to buy the Asus ROG and discovered the Go lying next to it. Well I went with the Go and am loving it. The thought of any complaining is crazy 🤣 as I game for fun and dam it's a fund device in every way possible. The best thing for me is the great experience playing PUBG 👍
Lossless scaling is a must for the LLG and leaves the games feeling really smooth even ones I had issues with being jerky... and you're definitely not stuck with windows as Bazzite is a perfect clone of steamos
I have a beefy gaming rig and consider my legion go the best extension. steam deck performance made me just want to keep my Nintendo switch. With the great emulation and amazing screen its replaced the switch entirely.
That's awesome! It is a good switch replacement I think especially if you still love and want that form factor. With obviously needing to emulate Nintendo haha
8:00 those buttons can be swapped in Legion space, a toggle buried in one of the settings pages I wish the right controller were mirrored to the left one as I don't play fps games, but if I did, I'm left handed :/ I know it can be flashed with bazzite to make a 'valve switch', but it'd be a pricey experiment (although already documented) I got a few weeks left to return it, but I'll probably keep the smaller GPD win 4, and get the go used if the right controller is available like the left one.
1 week played legion go , all is perfect just batterie not good , but who care , premium product! , even the fans are ok , dont understand all the complains , must be fake bot comments and the screen , wow , even black looks nearly oled ! thx lenovo for this great product
Great video. I picked one up as it feels more comfortable to me since I have big hands but I also have my ally. Congrats on getting bigger being able to acquire a test sample and becoming bigger then before it’s always a great thing.
I’ve been loving it. I’ve had no issues with anything whatsoever. I’ve been using it for call of duty and a lot of retro gaming and it holds up just fine. The fan really isn’t noticeable and I used software to boost the audio but having low audio has never been an issue for me as I play with low audio anyways so it all works great.
All these companies need to do it put out a EGPU enclosure that uses a nonproprietary port. put a CPU that can support current gen cards in the portable product have it work at a base of 50-60fps averages on most games while wireless 4-5 hours depending on the game on battery. use USB C so all you have to do is hook up to your dock connected to the EGPU so you could use up to 70% - 80% of the max GPU power. Boom the end of the debate.
Lenovo does seem to be toying with egpu's via oculink on their laptops. Hopefully it transitions down to their handheld units when the time comes. However with thunderbolt 5 coming that is a great plug and play solution as well. Right now with my onexgpu via TB on the go I canax out the resolution with games running from 40-144 fps depending on the title. That is while playing on the go's screen not outputting. They are just expensive and niche unfortunately
hey man love your videos. i'd love to hear your thoughts on the ayaneo kun. I'm debating whether to get the lego or the kun. I mainly play aaa action rpg games and i care about visuals more than fps (as long as it's playable like 30-60fps). where I'm from the price difference between the 1t lego and the 32gb 1t neo kun is only $200-300. I don't mind spending extra if it's gonna be future proof. would love to get your opinion. thanks
I would say that, go with legion if you want good support/warranty options. However personally, I would enjoy the Kun more I think. As long as you get the 32gb version. Just note I've not used the Kun at all and normally I think it'd be an epic waste of money but if it is within a few hundred that would be easier to stomach.
Thanks! I appreciate it :) Absolutely, I see no reason to "upgrade" to the Lego. It's hard to call the Lego or the Ally an upgrade over one another. They both have their pros and cons. Performance wise they should level out and perform, mostly the same, with the potential for the Go to outperform the Ally due to the faster RAM. However it won't be a game changing difference. The one true upgrade I would say is the Steam Deck OLED no matter the device. I don't have one but just from my knowledge of OLED and proper HDR it will be a visual treat.
I should have my OLED Deck next week, went for the 512gb so I can just just swap the drive from my LCD 512gb deck so its seamless. When OLED full clear shell replacements are available I will swap it for my own "Limited Edition". The battery life is what really has me exciting on top that OLED display!@@WinDeckTech
I saw in the review you were playing Remnant 2. How has that game been running for you? I actually had to refund the game because it kept crashing on my Legion. Another game I thought would be easy for the Legion was fallout 4. Unfortunately that seems to lock itself at 20fps for some reason no matter what setting. @@WinDeckTech
What button would be the Xbox controllers share button? I play some good games i get free through Amazon prime on this and a lot of them require that button for a lot of things
Out of curiousity, and this is for both Ally and Go, what is the recommended vram settings you personally would choose for the best balance of performance in gaming and multitasking/productivity?
Personally I use 6GB of VRAM on my 16GB devices. However, there are some games that require 16gb of RAM to start, such as Alan Wake 2. In that case, you have to use Auto. In Diablo 4, you have to have at least 12gb of sys ram to use certain textures, if I recall correctly. 6GB will typically avoid all issues in games expected to be played on the Ally.
My main downside is that you have a 1600p only usable for content consumption and when you play at 800p it looks bad, the 1200p is the best choice but you end up with same fps as SD with 800p with a bit more sharpness
Have you tried keeping it 1600p in the legion space settings and only setting it down to 800p in game settings? It seemed to look better to me that way and clearer in game than the menus
I will try! I always try to include my games used and settings used in all of my videos to help give people an idea of the type of performance you can get from these devices. Did you have any games in particular you were interested in?
@@WinDeckTech hi thank you for your reply. A mix of AAA games like CP2077 to strategy games , rpg baulders gate, strategy games dune or indie games, FPS games. I’m planning to purchase the console. I’m sold. But is the screen big enough for strategie games and on the other hand how low in quality do we need to set the graphics settinngs in AAA games to have stil 30-40 FPS. KR Jan
For sure! I'll try to tie it into my performance comparison based videos. Do you have any recommendations for RTS games (I'm not big into the genre) I can try skylines 2, halo wars and I believe the age of empires is on game pass. I have no shortage of triple A games.
@@WinDeckTech for rts: total war series, homeworkd series, company of heroes, age of empires (series). Might be very challenging on a near 9” screen and no mouse but . Wondering how it looks…
I will try out a bunch of RTS specific games (with the preface that I am by no means an expert in the genre) and see how they all compare. I'll try lighter ones and more intense ones, from what I can find. :)
@@WinDeckTech from what I understand it is and it isn't, the common lower end VRR is a common feature from the HDMI specs and can be forced into a display with non VRR capabilities but will not work on all displays. There's videos showing some very old monitors even being just non VRR 60hz monitors that ppl managed to get some range of VRR forced with the CRU app. Nvidia Gsync and AMD Freesync with frame compensation among other stuff are the ones that really need hardware supporting them. On my 2011 Samsung 22 inch 1080P it sadly didn't work, some VRR ranges do nothing and others will make the display go black when the FPS hit the VRR range but I heard many people with success on their different model monitors and it's also finicky cause you need to play a lot with the VRR range in the CRU since sometimes just 1hz difference in the range can be the difference for 1 monitor to start having VRR working or not. Ps: I know those devices aren't exactly HDMI but internally their hardware for the LCD might be very similar and using CRU and injecting the VRR range might still do the trick, no idea, but would be cool to see it tested...
Its pretty hard to choose, im torn between the Ally and Legion Go…im 1 click away to place an order for one of the 2. I own the steam deck oled wich i really love. But my main heavier games are Destiny 2, Diablo 4, Warzone and might wanna jump back in World of warcraft…. Im an older ganer/ex pc builder, the trackpad and bigger screen is a pro, on the other hand i just love the compact Rog with the vrr screen. Could you give me the last push?
Well... it is tough to say. If you truly value a bigger screen, the Legion is big and beautiful. When I go back and forth between it and the Ally I am always left wanting that little bit more in screen size. Similar to the Deck vs DOLED. The compactness of the Ally is nice, but personally I have not found the weight to be an issue with the Go and honestly if you can fit a Steam Deck case somewhere you should likely be able to fit the Go's case. VRR is really nice and that cannot be understated. However, I would say for a lot of people it may not be the deal breaker they think it is. I do appreciate it when running games from 40-60 FPS however when playing on the GO I would just cap the FPS at 40 and save the battery life. Having the Legion Go reminds me of playing on the Deck. In the sense that you are chasing that solid 30, 40 or 60 FPS mark without much fluctuation. With the Ally you are spoiled of allowing it to run from 30-144 (using LFC and VRR) but that costs battery life. You can cap FPS the same on the Ally but I know a lot of users like to let it run. Having the trackpad on the Go is nice, but I wouldn't say it is a game changer. Especially when working with windows on a bigger screen, windows is overall more touch friendly. don't get my wrong it is nice to have in the moments where you need fine motor skills, but honestly I forget it is there most of the time. Although if you plan on playing WoW on it with the Controller mod for warcraft it would be a godsend in that case for when you do need to make some inputs that you cant do with controller. FPS mode is weird to get used to, but if you like using keyboard and mouse over controller for shooters, I think Destiny 2 and Warzone would be great games for it. It is a nice to have but not a must have imo. Although the software is weaker on the Lenovo compared to the latest updates from ASUS, they have shown that they are willing and able to improve it. I wish I could tell you "yes buy this one" but it will still be your decision at the end of the day. However, with what you've provided I could see you being very happy with the Legion Go as you are already used to "bigger handhelds" with the Deck OLED. However if you were specifically looking to downsize from the Deck, the Ally would be the way to go.
@@WinDeckTech really really appreciate your amazing feedback 👌👍👍👍 hats off. I will read it again when getting home and will then make the choice and order one !
I think they have some very interesting ideas and concepts. If anyone were to make a "cool" gamery device, my money is on Dell/Alienware. My theory is they're working on their own "gimmick" and waiting to see what other devices come out with. Due to their amazing OLED monitors, I could see them coming out with different model options, beyond storage. Perhaps a base model with the Z1E, 16gb of RAM and an LCD panel. Then offer a "pro" model with OLED and higher RAM capacity. A kid can dream
I was thinking that with it being Alienware and always seeming to be more focused on the top end performance hardware, that they would skip this first generation of apu z1 extreme and release when the z2 or z3 extremes are finished and ready. Like the 8000 series strix point apu or 9000 series. Would be nice though to release their ufo and upgrade to ufo2 when the 8000 series drops though
It just seems odd that they've had the research and development and a working prototype, then no word for years and the waste of time, energy, and money to never produce and release it to the consumers. Just seems to me like it should still be on the horizon at some point
Great video and thoughts on competition like the Ally and Steam Deck. I'm one of the user cases you mentioned: someone who has the Steam Deck for indie/emulation/steam backlog and a Gaming PC for the AAA/FPS games. I actually just got the OLED Steam Deck after selling my LCD last week. The OLED is jaw dropping! Are you planning to get an OLED to compare?
I do want the OLED. It does seem like a big upgrade. I think maybe once things settle down after the holidays, I'll probably sell one of the three to get it. I'm so happy for people who will get to experience a proper HDR OLED experience
The legion go is by far the best handheld period atm until Zotac releases there hand held it will have real competition the Ally X having 24Gb of tam is gonna be sweet to i hated the regular ally and steamdeck was Meh in my opinion you can't do allot with it but the Legion go being a reliable windows handheld and that screen is next level good and it doesn't fry sd cards im looking at you asus
ASUS does seem to be making some headway and is poised to be the market leader when it comes to RMA and repairs. Mostly talk for now but firm talk with hopeful actions taking place.
I can't stand the limitations if linux and steamdeck which unless your playing old games , indie games or 2D games the steamdeck is mediocre in terms of raw power.
Yeah, needing to run everything through some sort of compability later isn't always the greatest time on the Steam Deck/Linux. I do wish, we had more of a standardized interface or OS on the windows handheld side. Sure you can do steam big picture, or playnite. But to integrate all of your tdp controls, resolution support, resfresh options etc into it as well, like SteamOS. My dream would be to have a mobile build of windows, which would run similar to the Xbox series consoles. Simple layout, but having all stores available to download games from (gog, egs etc). It could be super lightweight like SteamOS, but then if you needed to do traditional "windows stuff" you would reboot into a simple desktop interface with a proper running version of windows, something like the long term support enterprise options. Minimal bloat/apps.
48:35 i own an ally and I still question this decision to this day. Why would you color your device white? 🤣 Its like the worst color you can put on into a handheld device.
I mean, it could be. The lack of ram is what will hurt these devices in a professional environment though. (Video work and Other gpu mem intensive tasks. I had used the rog all for a month straight as my sole editing rig with an xg mobile hooked up. It was quite unbearable only due to the ram limitations
Lmao I did find this comment funny. You had me in the first half. I'd say, the hardware is sound and they've already been making meaningful improvements even since this video was posted. What don't you enjoy about it?
No haha I didn't take any offence or anything. I just had a good laugh because I seriously thought the first time I read it you were about to give it some amazing praise. Only just to call it a POS, just excellent comedic timing to it was all lol Edit: also we say the same about printers. But dammit they're still all pos's today
Thanks for the great content! It took me 3 approaches to watch the whole video, though. Every one of your sentences sounds like: AA!bbboooooooooxxx......... (you are getting very quiet towards the end of your sentences). No offense, but after a while, it feels like you either want to kill yourself after the video or put your audience to sleep. In addition to that, I don't understand how the FPS feature can be a con because of the lack of buttons. That would mean that the complete absence of the FPS feature would be a double con on other devices. It's maybe not perfect, but it doesn't hurt. Can't be a con, in my opinion. Liked & subscribed anyways!
Thanks I appreciate the feedback! I'll admit this one got a little out of hand. If you have watched my recent 6 month review of the ally. That is the general flow I am aiming for for all future reviews. I have heard that before, I do try to remind myself to be more consistent with vocal levels/tones as well as just boosting my audio overall as well. Just another reminder that I need to work on it. IF, you have time and are mildly interested. I would love to get your feedback on my ally 6 month review. As for the con of the fps mode I mean in a sense that games just aren't set up for how the controls are laid out. For example, with a game like battlefield (and I can only assume serious shooters like tarkov and others) there are a lot of action buttons/keys. As an example, changing your attachments is done by holding T I believe on the keyboard. On the controller, it is done by holding Y (iirc) however the Y button is also your switch weapons key by using just a short press. Buttons will often pull double duty in games on a controller. On a keyboard you typically don't need to and are often unable to set a long press key or a short press key. This part is the con, or downfall imo because in some games you will never have enough free buttons to map to in fps, because it sees it as a keyboard and mouse. Thanks again for the feedback and open dialogue, these are the type of comments I value most.
Yeah I think it should be a thing going forward. Then it will be a debate on whether to have them both on the bottom, top, or on one each. I'm a little surprised the Steam Deck OLED didn't get one added. But to keep the price aggressive, while still getting a massive upgrade is hard.
I've used the second Type-C Port on the bottom to connect a 4TB SSD, Ive used a double sided sticky pad to attach the SSD enclosure to the Kick stand. I've also upgraded the internal SSD to 2 TB, along with a 1TB micro SD card. so we have a total of 7TB storage 🙃@@WinDeckTech

Game suspension is what ii miss the most tbh. But yeah, im probably not a good sales man but i hope you consider.
Same for me. Firat day I thought I made a mistake, now I just love it
I love my legion go and one topic you brought up I disagree with is.
(Many many hours so the Steam Decks slight advantage doesn’t matter as much
Every day I find more reasons I’m glad I picked the Legion Go.
Re:
1) I am slowly loving the bigger screen more and more. I am now feeling cramped on my ally.
2) while I appreciate the higher refresh, I would still prefer 120 vrr over 144. Admittedly when streaming, this is a non issue. I'd even take the knock down to 1200p VRR
3)battery life has been pretty good. Although I haven't compared it to a stock steam deck yet I'm sure it would beat it out depending on the scenario. SD OLED, no chance.
I am finding more and more reasons to love the device and the Legion space update pushes out today, as well as the optional beta bios. It does show that they are committed to getting updates out I'm a timely manner and are extremely communicative
Edit: I would still say from a value standpoint, if you have a gaming PC SD/SD OLED 512 is still the way to go.
Thanks so much for the kind words buddy! I appreciate it :)
Congrats on the review sample! It’s nice to see you grow so fast in that space - keep it up, man!
Legion go is king and I’ve had all three. Not even a contest
None of the PC handhelds is perfect. I bought Lenovo Legion Go on day 1 and never regret it.
Lenovo have released a long roadmap with new features, upgrades etc. that is gonna be added in BIOS and Lenovo Space.
Yeah I can't wait to see where Lenovo takes legion space through the updates. I'm working up a list to send back to my.lenovo rep.
Thinking about switching back to the legion go
It's a good device but a little rough around the edges. I hope it gets better overtime. Great video dude!
Thanks for the kind words! I do have hope that it will get better or more polished. I don't see why it wouldn't
Thank you for the details and value reviews and comparation of the devices. Great info. 👍
Thanks! I'll be doing an updated review soon!
Legion Go will better with update. I'll probably say Go will be the better of the 3 devices imo
I hope so. I do think they have the potential to excel, and they have so far proven that at least with the community updates
Edit - Never mind, it looks like you did updated the Legion Space I think but the strange thing is the updated one doesn't have that 2nd boot up screen with the Legion logo.
Congrats. The hustle is paying off
Went down to my local store to buy the Asus ROG and discovered the Go lying next to it.
Thank you for a helpful, honest video.
You are welcome :)
Epic review! Subbed and will look at your previous videos
Thanks so much!! I hope you find more content that you might enjoy :)
8:00 those buttons can be swapped in Legion space, a toggle buried in one of the settings pages
I wish the right controller were mirrored to the left one as I don't play fps games, but if I did, I'm left handed :/
I know it can be flashed with bazzite to make a 'valve switch', but it'd be a pricey experiment (although already documented)
I got a few weeks left to return it, but I'll probably keep the smaller GPD win 4, and get the go used if the right controller is available like the left one.
Still sticking to the win 4 :)
1 week played legion go , all is perfect just batterie not good , but who care , premium product! , even the fans are ok , dont understand all the complains , must be fake bot comments
and the screen , wow , even black looks nearly oled ! thx lenovo for this great product
Great video. I picked one up as it feels more comfortable to me since I have big hands but I also have my ally. Congrats on getting bigger being able to acquire a test sample and becoming bigger then before it’s always a great thing.
Thanks darkstar, appreciate the kind words!
How have you been liking the go so far? How's software been holding up on your end?
I’ve been loving it. I’ve had no issues with anything whatsoever. I’ve been using it for call of duty and a lot of retro gaming and it holds up just fine. The fan really isn’t noticeable and I used software to boost the audio but having low audio has never been an issue for me as I play with low audio anyways so it all works great.
33:50 microphone bump there made me think I popped a tire in my car
Hey I had that similar experience two days ago, maybe it was preemptive karma for me doing it to you.
@@WinDeckTechthank you for the reply mate. I will get the legion go. with the kun I have to pay 24% tax on top of the price which is ridiculous haha.
More competition the better! Definitely not any reason for me to ditch my Deck or Ally. Love the vids, keep up the quality content man!
Thanks! I appreciate it :)
Absolutely, I see no reason to "upgrade" to the Lego.
Yes 6 is a nice sweet spot . I haven't had a issue running 6 😊
My main downside is that you have a 1600p only usable for content consumption and when you play at 800p it looks bad, the 1200p is the best choice but you end up with same fps as SD with 800p with a bit more sharpness
You need to activate integer scaling.
@@undyingsonars little difference in the games I play, 1200p is miles better
Have you tried keeping it 1600p in the legion space settings and only setting it down to 800p in game settings? It seemed to look better to me that way and clearer in game than the menus
As undying mention checked out integer scaling. I was going to include it here, but length.. I will do a dedicated video on it though at some point
Good review, can you do some game reviews on the t GO?
Could you please try CRU (Custom Resolution Utility) to see if you can make VRR working for it's screen?
Unfortunately vrr is a hardware based solution .the go does not support it
@@WinDeckTech from what I understand it is and it isn't, the common lower end VRR is a common feature from the HDMI specs and can be forced into a display with non VRR capabilities but will not work on all displays.
No problem at all!!

Ive got so much hate on reddit fpr saying that it would be intriguing to see Alienware come out with a hanheld.
Tell them to fuck off. The Alienware UFO WILL be a thing one day
I think they have some very interesting ideas and concepts.
Just seems to me like it should still be on the horizon at some point
what the heck does trigger button pinches my skin mean? how is that possible to "pinch" skin by pressing the trigger button. maybe the bumper buttons.
I know of someone that had issues when pressing the trigger their skin would get caught
The Oled is not a big upgrade. The Legion is what the Oled is supposed to be now .. Legion is way more powerful than the oled
Lenovo go for the win 🎉❤❤
I just got my Legion Go and most of what you complain about have all been fixed.
Yes I will need to make a newer video. It is in a much better place now imo

Do you need internet security for these devices ?
Honestly, windows security is enough for 99% of users
bias review are good to me anyway , as buyer's I do have some bias also 😂
I can't stand the limitations if linux and steamdeck which unless your playing old games , indie games or 2D games the steamdeck is mediocre in terms of raw power.
What if SteamOS finally comes out and we can install it on the LeGo? Game changer?@@WinDeckTech
48:35 i own an ally and I still question this decision to this day. Why would you color your device white? 🤣
Its like the worst color you can put on into a handheld device.
I love the white colour on devices in theory. But yeah, overtime they just get dirty. But they do hide fingerprints really well
Tbh i wont mind fingerprints, because I can just wipe them off. But dirt & grimes? Takes more effort to clean up, dude 😂
I love white. My white devices are all clean after years.

Is this a mini pc
I mean, it could be. The lack of ram is what will hurt these devices in a professional environment though. (Video work and Other gpu mem intensive tasks.
I had used the rog all for a month straight as my sole editing rig with an xg mobile hooked up. It was quite unbearable only due to the ram limitations
Just think in ten years from now we will look back at these superb gaming handhelds of today and say wow what a pos !!!!!!!!!
Lmao I did find this comment funny. You had me in the first half.
I'd say, the hardware is sound and they've already been making meaningful improvements even since this video was posted. What don't you enjoy about it?
@WinDeckTech I did not mean anything by what I said just that all this tech we have now in ten years we will look back and say what a pos lol
No haha I didn't take any offence or anything. I just had a good laugh because I seriously thought the first time I read it you were about to give it some amazing praise. Only just to call it a POS, just excellent comedic timing to it was all lol
Edit: also we say the same about printers. But dammit they're still all pos's today

This channel proves you don’t need a big following to know what you’re talking about. Great review if not the best I’ve seen for this device.
Thanks! So sorry missed this comment. I appreciate the kind words so much
Thanks for the great content!
We need more type-c ports, Miss them on the steam deck and Ally, x1 is 💩 At least the Go has x2 but it runs like a drunk donkey.

Without having any sort of "insider info" I would bet they are working on bringing their device to market.
