Hey there, like the video. That was a big help in letting me know what was going on with my Tacoma. I have a 2008 model and it was doing the same thing. I looked under and saw nothing loose and even did some shaking around just to verify my concerns. As would drive, it would start out vibrating some. Then it would be more pronounced as I rode at higher speeds. Only to lessen when I got to a certain range. I was going to see what the dealership would tell me about it. Maybe I can get an answer about it from them. But thanks for the posting of the video. I thought about doing the same thing myself for personal curiosity.
replace the entire double driveshaft and install a one piece driveshaft, don't forget the rear spring packs are also weak, they allow the differential to tilt.
hi it is long after you posted this, but did you get it sorted out? mine does the same and i will add another symptom. its gives a 'thump' when i pull off or when i get to a stop. thanks
@@ciscokid0307 I had same problem with my 2007. Tried few things and then gave up. And then last year I did transmission fluid drain and refill and bump is gone.
I had a thump at certain times too when I shifted (manual transmission). Greased the driveline splines(?) with moly lube. Look it up. Fixed it. ua-cam.com/video/AvKwgjpsbdg/v-deo.html
Yo that's cool yo letting people know about the carrier bearing issue wtd da Toyotas, but now there is 1 million different vids on dat chit!!! I wanna know how to get dat chit off to put the new one on!!!!!!!FML:(
It has been a long time since I posted this so here is a small udpate. The carrier bearing made it 114,000 miles with the issue above before finally giving up. I bought a new one and replaced the u-joints which were not bad. Problem persists I have just gotten so used to it I don't even notice anymore. The common fix is to replace the 2 piece driveshaft with a one piece. Tom Woods driveline is popular with 4x4 enthusiasts. He makes a custom replacement that supposedly resolves the issue. www.4xshaft.com/
mickdady0 thanks for your video. My 08 crew cab is at 114,000 miles. I have already replaced the read U joint two years ago from a bad squeak. The mechanic told me that later on I’d have to replace the front joint but I am having issues finding part numbers for the joints and bearing.
I think it's a design so people will trade it in for a new one after 100,000 miles. When going to a one piece driveshaft is the Real answer. That and changing the driver side needle bearing in the front differential to a bushing. If you have a 4x4 truck
