Awesome! Thanks for your descriptive and informative video. I’ll be doing this task on my son’s 08 Tacoma while he’s away on deployment 🇺🇸 Before he left, he was noticing extreme vibration at higher highway speeds. Once repaired, a test drive will be mandatory at a nearby 4x4 trail 😎
Thank you sir! Hope all goes smoothly for you. Be sure to have a u joint on hand for the repair as well. A vibration at highway speed from the driveline could also be that.
One of the better videos of a carrier bearing replacement! One thing I would add is to smack the driveshaft by the u joint after installing the u joint to release the tension on the part due to pressing in the joint to the shaft. Ypu are a really good technician, keep up the great work.

Great video Adv4x4!! I am replacing my center support bearing and u-joints right now in my 2nd Gen Tacoma. This was a huge help! Two questions.... Would you recommend putting bearing grease on the splines of the driveshaft when reinstalling? I saw that you put grease on the center support bearing part, but not the actual splines of the driveshaft? I also wanted to double check on the torque spec for the 24mm nut holding the center support and yoke in place. Is this supposed to be 134 ft-lbs to set the bearing, then backed off and final torque to 51 ft-lbs? That was what I have been reading. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!
You can put a little grease on the splines if you wish but more importantly it being cleaned with a wire brush to get rid of any debris.
