    HRs / Recruiters are inhumane.
    Don't we sometime think like that?
    How?
    How can they post job openings mentioning the below pointers :
    *Should be ready to work in 24x7 rotating shifts environment
    *Should be willing to work on weekends
    *Should be comfortable with night shifts
    *Should be comfortable with frequent shift rotation.
    Doesn't these very points disrupt the work life balance, plays with personal time and health of employee?
    HRs are well educated human beings and I really wonder how can they go this opposite lane. A normal human/employee will not be able to deliver the service being in these inhumane work conditions for a long time.
    The employee could join and soon leave the company due to health issues.
    I love when HRs mention timing of the shift in the job postings like
    *It will be a 2pm to 11pm shift Mon-Fri
    I feel HRs/Recruiters should focus on fixing a shift time and utilize employee in that particular shift time. What's your opinion folks? hashtag#job hashtag#hiring hashtag#HR hashtag#HumanResources

    • @UtkarshKumarRai
      @UtkarshKumarRai  7 місяців тому

      Clarity on shift timings is required at the time of job interview process if not mentioned in the ad. Professionals should ask for it, if no clarity is there. If shift timings will change every month or 2 to 3 times in a year, then that should also be made clear to candidate or candidate should ask for it. Normally companies are providing that clarity. Professionals should make decision of joining based on their priority and what will work for them.

      @@UtkarshKumarRai I'm from Canada. What is your advice? Same here being bullied, mobbed, gaslighting, harassed at the hospital for over 12 years. I've happened to be the top worker for 38 years and have never been suspended. These bullies are jealous and miserable people. Union, manager, HR and the police are all totally useless. Bullies are lazy bums and stupid managers are scared of the bullies. They say about me I'm crazy, I drink, I'm a stalker all bs defamation of character. The biggest mistake since they removed disciplinary measures. They should arrest the bullies and fire the manager. Action speaks louder than nasty words. It destroyed my reputation. I will never quit to make these lazy bums ever win. If I decide to transfer to another hospital and may start gaslighting, smearing and bullying me once again, I don't know all the new managers etc. like in every department like now. So best to not change hospitals. I will never let bullies try to control me from quitting. Just don't react and not try to defend yourself which will only go back and forth making me look even more guilty. Action always speaks louder than words. Just best ignore them and find another easier target. Never let these low life lazy bums win ever win.

    Hi! Great video! Comprehensively addressed almost everything. Could you please inform if we can create boundaries with the Manager when, my roles, my work isn't clarified, no official training is ever given but the manager is just picking up mistakes expecting me to know everything without even being communicated?

    • @UtkarshKumarRai
      @UtkarshKumarRai  День тому +1

      It means your manager is under pressure. At times they dont clarify upfront and it causes problem. Better you have a 1-1 meeting with your manager and ask that this is what you have understood your work areas, and ask the manager to tell if you missed something. Also you can ask for feedback or training or support for initial few weeks or months depending upon your challenges. Dont setup meeting when mistakes have happened , but when things are somewhat smooth and you manager is also somewhat feeling light. An open discussion where you are appearing hungry to learn , willing to listen and eager to improve will change your interaction with your manager and you will get clarity too.

      @@UtkarshKumarRai That's an on-point understanding. Thank you so much for your prompt response. While following what you said, a question cropped in my head - When do you suggest 1-1 meeting to take place, I mean towards the beginning like 1st month or after 3 months? To be honest, I have never saw him relieved in my whole term of 9 months. He's always in hurry, never shares anything, I've also heard from one of his (Senior- who's a project manager) colleague that they were back bitching about me with my colleagues. Upon asking more questions related to work doubts he gets more frustrated, as if there's no win in any case. With that being continued now for 9 months, I decided to resign and join a New Company. Yet I know running is not an option, facing and learning is. But Because I want to develop and master this skill with practice, could you suggest me the steps or courses? And at this moment, What can I do about this to deal with in the future?

      If it is impacting your health, it is better to talk to you manager about the interpersonal issues between two of you. When you approach your manager, ask her that you want to listen to what she has to say. Don't protest, dont say this is incorrect but just listen. Many times managers are not upset becuase of not taking more work, but because of behaviour. It is better to understand what behaviour of yours is impacting her. Once you understand her concern, try to work upon it. After you hear everything from your manager, you should tell that you are complete your assigned work, and when addiitonal work is overloaded, then at times you become nervous, feel feverish, and ask your manager how should you cope up with it. It is better to start fresh in building relationship for your own happiness. And once you will take sincere effort, you will see your manager will also turn around and will make work environment better.

I firmly believe more one will have field experiences, on-hands experiences, better a person can take decision and also better they can delegate. Such ease or confidence in management at times make them appear as kamchor. So are they really like this or they achieved this :)

      When I used to face such managers in my career, I adopted three things. What I will not do when I become a manager. What skills I have to learn from this manager, i tend to find some skills i.e. communication, presentation, customer handling, subject knowledge and focus to learn fast, in case working under them become intolerable. Third I want to see what feedback my manager is giving, how much truth is there, and work to improve so that when i change my job or get a new manager, I should not get the same feedback. When you focus on these three things, you will be better off in your career and be able to manage your manager well.

    • @UtkarshKumarRai
      @UtkarshKumarRai  3 роки тому +4

      Monika, These are few things which you can do. 1. Don't lose your self confidence 2. Keep your work performance improving. more you learn, more you work , more mistake you will make, and more knowledge you will gain. So keep working more and don't be worried about mistakes,blame and get hurt. What i can make out is that you have enough work on your plate and that is a very good sign. 3. It is always very very very good to go through such difficult situations at work in the beginning of career, this will provide you to learn faster, know from mistake and also know what manager and senior management think and do. You are lucky to be interacting with them, observing them. This will help you in knowing what you will do and what you will not do when you are at that position. 4. If you hate your manager, without speaking, your body language and your facial expression will make it clear to your manager. So inspite of all these you just think what good skills your manager has and try to learn from them. Being a manager she/he must be having some good skill. Focus on that rather than negative feeling. When you focus on positive things , some of your negative feeling will reduce (it will not go away fully). 5. Come out from self pity, victimised mindset that everyone is against you. Calm down , follow the above points and then setup meeting with your manager after a few weeks and ask her/him "I need your help to improve myself. I want to know what subject skills AND very important what my soft skills i should improve to be a better professional. Ask in calm way and don't react to what your manager says. If you don't understand the feedback ask her/him to elaborate. You should write it down, and tell her/him two very important things. First i will pick a few to start with , second, can you monitor me when i am working on these few things. Make your manager a partner in this journey. This will also bring change in your manager attitude towards you. Quitting your job is easy, but i suspect you need to improve here in this company rather than facing the same problem again. Last, you also need to do self assessment, how is your behaviour towards manager and colleagues: you said your are cheerful and go getter, but try to gauge what perception people have about your style of working and talking. That might also give some clue. Cheer up, you are not alone in facing such problem, But learn and overcome this. we all learn from these situations.

", This could also means that she is under lot of pressure from her management. She has signed up goals which are above and beyond and she is looking for help and more help from her team. Are you setting right expectations with her or timeline and type of delivery when she is giving work to you? or you sign up dont deliver on time, or at the last moment ask for help. In my opinion you have to help your manager and also seek feedback by letting go the past and looking from new perspective. There are few other vidoes of mine like "if you are not your manager's favourite" and "when to say no at work" and "can you work speak for itself" once you watch you will also get more information. I strongly feel that you are at the great learning opportunity times and you have to see sometimes things from manager's perspective to understand and imporve for yourself.

1. Mai kaun sa meeting attend karna chaihye, tab manager saaf saaf kah denge ki kab wo bulayenge kis meeting ke liye. 2. agar koi specific meeting aapko attend karna hai to manager se direct poochiye ki mujhe wo meeting attend karna hai, bhale mein contribue na karo, par observe karke hi seekh loonga.

      Don’t compare with others. At times working under strict manager teaches us many lessons and prepares us to be better in future. If you need mentor to understand better way of coding testing and bug fixing then do ask for it . Or if you have respect for someone within or outside the team where you can learn better software engg practices then do it. First 5 years is a foundational year and more you learn good practices of doing things , better you will be. To avoid thinking you are good , you are doing good , demanding manager could be a blessings .

Second, is any feedback given to you during appraisal regarding work performance or on interpersonal relationship. many a times if you are not happy than it becomes clear to manager and they mirror the same. If you are happy and your manager is happy with your work, then i will write it as a new comment.

      If you both are happy, then you look into your style of communication or raisin the issue with your manager. This will help you in your future job and with your future manager too. Also if you both are happy and your style is fine, then most of the time managers do listen to feedback. Dont try to gang up against manager. you talk and tell what is bothering you in a neutral tone without getting excited. Even if manager dont agree, it registers. If nothing works, then first escalate to manager's boss and then only to HR

    • @UtkarshKumarRai
      @UtkarshKumarRai  4 місяці тому

      First talk about you, not about others in the team. What is making you feel bored, non confident and fearful. Every manager job exists only when they have team. So you are powerful provided you help in achieving team goal and helping your manager meeting their commitments. Some management style is more direct, more authoritative, more tough, but then you also learn to work on various management style. You should talk to your manager about their expectation (work, timeline and expected outcome) and focus on that and don't pay much attention to the style. Sometimes some managers who are very hard from outside, you find them caring provided you started to interact frequently and started to align with their goals.

    Dealing with manager is stupidity. Employees are paid by companies to do work not to deal with bad manager. So, I say keep assessing managers character from day one & adjust on how much effort, time you put. Be polite, calm, quite once you decided to quit. Prepare well, get next job & leave with smile on your face. With this employee is always at peace & benifit more with hike in new job while punishing bad manager silently 😂. When attrition increases automatically manager will get exposed company wide with no place to hide. Remember "you work for company, manager work for you" this is only reason for having managers in company. Not other way round. One who create product (employees) are asset to company. Bad managers are liability

    • @UtkarshKumarRai
      @UtkarshKumarRai  2 місяці тому +1

      Good writeup, one more point to understand is no person is bad to everyone so assuming that bad manager will be exposed in future, chances are less. It is better to also introspect what in you is making the manager's behaviour bad. It could also be that the manager is under immense pressure from their management and thus this behaviour or has an excellent rapport with their manager could also lead to this behaviour. Both scenario can happen. Important is to learn to ensure that in the new job you would be able to work better.

In that case you should start building relationship with your manager without being judgemental , that could also help in seeing a change in your supervisor behaviour

      You need to answer the following questions: are you enjoying your job or you just see this as a source of income. If you are enjoying your job and want to learn more than staying late initially for few months might give more learning opportunities. Also taking additional role like sales etc will broaden your skills. Initial 4 to 5 years are foundation years in any job and one needs to learn as much as possible, know as many things possible and then only one can succeed in mid and senior roles. Also managers see a person's attitude towards work, hunger to know or taking it just as a source of money. You need to answer these questions. Those you have right attitude and hunger to learn, even if they have to go earlier than 5:30 or even at 5:30 managers dont mind, becuase a trust is being built by then. So work to improve your relationship with your manager. Such problems during the probation period is totally avoidable and you have to take steps and dont expect your manager to change. or else look for a job which excites you.

      Mugdha, respect is earned and not given. it is true for manager and for employees equally. Manager's manager will held manager accountable and responsible for team delivery and manager in turn make employee accountable. This video talks about practical tips on how to handle various toxic managers issue. It doesnot advocate giving self respect to other or be a haanji haanji culture, but anger and jingositic approach which professionals tend to apply mostly when they are in 20s will also not work. And they realise as they clock more experiences at work or when they change job and face similar situation in the new job. And every issue cannot become a self respect or my versus other's fault. The premise of the video is that you cannot change others, but you can only change yourself, so take a holistic view of the situation and see what is best for you. If you have any specific issue then ask me and i can either point to my video or respond specifically. technology changes fast but not human nature and interaction so whether it is last century or this century human issues are the same.

      @@UtkarshKumarRai I can say the same for manager. If they wants the employees to respect them. They need to earn that. It shouldn't be given just bcoz you gain the authority and you're good at your work. If you don't have the basic human decency to keep your team members in a positive atmosphere without targeting them and demotivating to do work with taunting. You're not a good leader. And no one will clap hands for your personality. Although everyone will praise your for your hardwork and smartness but you'll never set that mark in people's heart just bcoz you keep degrading the people who're on lower position. Managers have this Myth within themselves that we do it just to build the employees patience and to increase their productivity and stress management. That's crap. ! I'm a psychologist I know how there are tremendous ways to boast up the team employees moral and even their productivity. An ethically everyone deserves to be respected and treated well. An excellent book by Marshal Goldsmith "what got you here won't get you there" captures such dysfunctional behaviours well. In all your post, one thing is missing about your own learnings in facing such manager. One lesson is what we should not do when one becomes manager when we watch such managers. That is self improvement. We waste time thinking about why others are not changing instead one should observe them, learn from them and improve oneself. 3 mins into this video ..and this is such a bullshit...if you are a newbie in corporate who is trying to deal with a toxic manager..there is only one solution to it...treat them like they treat you. The no. 1 criteria for this is to have confidence in your ability and skill and stand up for yourself...believe me a toxic manager is never going to lift you career no matter what you do. You have to show courage and deal with them like a peer...talk honestly and in the same tone like they talk to you... Make boundaries and say no to unreasonable demands. No one is going to fire you for the difference of opinion. In my over 10 years of exp in corporate out of the 6 bosses I have worked with 4 were toxic and that is the best way I have dealt with them. If we go by the advice of these youtubers, you are going to end up in some other company under some other toxic boss...there is simply no end to it especially in India.

      Your this part of the comment is correct "to have confidence in your ability and skill and stand up for yourself." Courage comes from confidence and this is where many are not able to handle it well. However your approach to give manager back in the same way, might give a sense of winning for a moment but that does not help. As you might have seen in your 10 years of experience. It is importance to understand few reasons of toxicity as explained in this video and in my other three videos "if you are not your manager's favourite, what to do", "If you boss is jealous of you, what to do", "3 reasons why your boss does not like you despite you doing a good job".
