      No, perception changes... it takes months to a year to form a perception and it takes that much time to change it. Good perception also changes into bad , so one should not take it for granted. Also perception travels across companies at mid and senior levels.

    Hi! Great video! Comprehensively addressed almost everything. Could you please inform if we can create boundaries with the Manager when, my roles, my work isn't clarified, no official training is ever given but the manager is just picking up mistakes expecting me to know everything without even being communicated?

    • @UtkarshKumarRai
      @UtkarshKumarRai Місяць тому

      It means your manager is under pressure. At times they dont clarify upfront and it causes problem. Better you have a 1-1 meeting with your manager and ask that this is what you have understood your work areas, and ask the manager to tell if you missed something. Also you can ask for feedback or training or support for initial few weeks or months depending upon your challenges. Dont setup meeting when mistakes have happened , but when things are somewhat smooth and you manager is also somewhat feeling light. An open discussion where you are appearing hungry to learn , willing to listen and eager to improve will change your interaction with your manager and you will get clarity too.

      @DaizyPatel Місяць тому

      @@UtkarshKumarRai That's an on-point understanding. Thank you so much for your prompt response. While following what you said, a question cropped in my head - When do you suggest 1-1 meeting to take place, I mean towards the beginning like 1st month or after 3 months? To be honest, I have never saw him relieved in my whole term of 9 months. He's always in hurry, never shares anything, I've also heard from one of his (Senior- who's a project manager) colleague that they were back bitching about me with my colleagues. Upon asking more questions related to work doubts he gets more frustrated, as if there's no win in any case. With that being continued now for 9 months, I decided to resign and join a New Company. Yet I know running is not an option, facing and learning is. But Because I want to develop and master this skill with practice, could you suggest me the steps or courses? And at this moment, What can I do about this to deal with in the future?

    3 mins into this video ..and this is such a bullshit...if you are a newbie in corporate who is trying to deal with a toxic manager..there is only one solution to it...treat them like they treat you. The no. 1 criteria for this is to have confidence in your ability and skill and stand up for yourself...believe me a toxic manager is never going to lift you career no matter what you do. You have to show courage and deal with them like a peer...talk honestly and in the same tone like they talk to you... Make boundaries and say no to unreasonable demands. No one is going to fire you for the difference of opinion. In my over 10 years of exp in corporate out of the 6 bosses I have worked with 4 were toxic and that is the best way I have dealt with them. If we go by the advice of these youtubers, you are going to end up in some other company under some other toxic boss...there is simply no end to it especially in India.

    • @UtkarshKumarRai
      @UtkarshKumarRai 2 місяці тому

      Your this part of the comment is correct "to have confidence in your ability and skill and stand up for yourself." Courage comes from confidence and this is where many are not able to handle it well. However your approach to give manager back in the same way, might give a sense of winning for a moment but that does not help. As you might have seen in your 10 years of experience. It is importance to understand few reasons of toxicity as explained in this video and in my other three videos "if you are not your manager's favourite, what to do", "If you boss is jealous of you, what to do", "3 reasons why your boss does not like you despite you doing a good job".

      You need to answer the following questions: are you enjoying your job or you just see this as a source of income. If you are enjoying your job and want to learn more than staying late initially for few months might give more learning opportunities. Also taking additional role like sales etc will broaden your skills. Initial 4 to 5 years are foundation years in any job and one needs to learn as much as possible, know as many things possible and then only one can succeed in mid and senior roles. Also managers see a person's attitude towards work, hunger to know or taking it just as a source of money. You need to answer these questions. Those you have right attitude and hunger to learn, even if they have to go earlier than 5:30 or even at 5:30 managers dont mind, becuase a trust is being built by then. So work to improve your relationship with your manager. Such problems during the probation period is totally avoidable and you have to take steps and dont expect your manager to change. or else look for a job which excites you.

So remain positive with your current work and additional responsibility give full support to your manager and then your manager will be more supportive to make the change of your liking.

    Hii sir, i am an IT professional with 5 years of experience and i am about to complete my executive mba. I am planning to switch the career path to product management roles but due to 90 days of notice period i am not able to get an offer, moreover i am not enjoying my job. Will it be a good decision to try for new job after resigning (I have an option to take the resignation back 15 days before my notice period ends)

    • @UtkarshKumarRai
      @UtkarshKumarRai 2 місяці тому

      I doubt that 90 days notice period is the reason behind not getting a job. Industry will be opening up soon and hopefully more jobs will be available. I also suggest that you should talk to your current management and have a career conversation about switching to product mgmt role in your current company itself. This will help you to gain experience and then when you apply outside you will be able to get it easily. If no role is available within the company then see such roles where you interact heavily with product mgmt. At times having just an education degree and no experience might be difficult to switch so gain as much experience on or around that topic in the existing company only and then change. Though I don't suggest resigning without a job offer, but if you have a provision to withdraw and certainty to get a new offer in 2 months then it is your call.

    I am cashier at govt bank. I have too much cash work load during peak hours of day. And for sometime I get relaxed hr as well, but to my manager I should help them in that hour as well. Sometimes when staff is on leave, due to my bad terms with manager, officer burdon me with pending work along with cash. And when I deny, she calls to HR, she threaten me to give a remark call letter. I don't even get any benifit of doing 3 person work. Due to this office environment I felt like fever just before I need to go to bank. Please guide, what should I do?

    • @UtkarshKumarRai
      @UtkarshKumarRai 2 місяці тому

      If it is impacting your health, it is better to talk to you manager about the interpersonal issues between two of you. When you approach your manager, ask her that you want to listen to what she has to say. Don't protest, dont say this is incorrect but just listen. Many times managers are not upset becuase of not taking more work, but because of behaviour. It is better to understand what behaviour of yours is impacting her. Once you understand her concern, try to work upon it. After you hear everything from your manager, you should tell that you are complete your assigned work, and when addiitonal work is overloaded, then at times you become nervous, feel feverish, and ask your manager how should you cope up with it. It is better to start fresh in building relationship for your own happiness. And once you will take sincere effort, you will see your manager will also turn around and will make work environment better.

      When I used to face such managers in my career, I adopted three things. What I will not do when I become a manager. What skills I have to learn from this manager, i tend to find some skills i.e. communication, presentation, customer handling, subject knowledge and focus to learn fast, in case working under them become intolerable. Third I want to see what feedback my manager is giving, how much truth is there, and work to improve so that when i change my job or get a new manager, I should not get the same feedback. When you focus on these three things, you will be better off in your career and be able to manage your manager well.

    Absolutely right sir!!!Thankyou so much❤ But please also let us know about how to deal with kamchor managers?? Who don't even step out of the branch for business by themselves and keep you all day out for bringing business which is not only our sole responsibility (PSU BANKS)

      You might see them as Kamchor, but it could be they were also groomed by their manager in the past. So they might be applying the same thing at you. I firmly believe more one will have field experiences, on-hands experiences, better a person can take decision and also better they can delegate. Such ease or confidence in management at times make them appear as kamchor. So are they really like this or they achieved this :)

    You are a person who has a life outside your job. Companies are w****houses and demand a degree of compliance and slavery. It's all about profit at the end of the day. Your colleagues and management are not your friends. Do as much as your conscience permits you, do not bend backwards to please the management. Be stoic, be very specific, have frequent meetings with your manager to set your expectations, get the expectations checked out on meeting your goals. Quantify your career, it's business after all. You are selling your brain that's it. Do not be proud of any improvements you are making in your career as a result of your negative feedbacks, you are just 'fitting in' to keep the cash flowing. It's all an act. So don't glorify your career. These are just some faces you have to put up to make money. Believe it or not I have gotten all my promotions and increments on job changes. I have acted my part kept my managers happy and wished them hell while smiling delightfully at them. So stop romanticising, if the manager wants to screw you over he or she will despite your contribution. Most of the time hikes are based on the future budget and they will pin the lower hike on you as if it's your fault. If you have the goods they need they will favour you, otherwise not. So stop thinking that a better appraisal in your next cycle has really improved you as a person 😁, it just means you have managed to fit in to the system and fall in line as per their whims and fancy. On the contrary get a backbone and treat your reports well, appreciate your subordinates and fight for them with the higher management if the need arises, teach the juniors the tricks of the trade, don't teach them blind faithfulness, tell them it's business as usual. If you sense some downturn in the company, you should ensure that the subordinates are safe, push them out to get other jobs while you can. This has helped me immensely in my 25 years of career and kept me and my teams safe.

      Don’t compare with others. At times working under strict manager teaches us many lessons and prepares us to be better in future. If you need mentor to understand better way of coding testing and bug fixing then do ask for it . Or if you have respect for someone within or outside the team where you can learn better software engg practices then do it. First 5 years is a foundational year and more you learn good practices of doing things , better you will be. To avoid thinking you are good , you are doing good , demanding manager could be a blessings .

      I am training myGPT which is having all my works. I asked your question to my GPT and here is the answer, let me know whether this answer is good for you . My custom GPT is under training and not rolled out yet Securing a high-paying job as a fresher and excelling in the early stages of your career involves a combination of strategic positioning, skill development, networking, and continuous learning. Here's a comprehensive guide based on insights derived from the materials and Utkarsh Rai's professional journey and writings: Choose the Right Sector and Role: Start-ups vs. MNCs: Both have their merits. Start-ups offer rapid learning curves and the chance to wear multiple hats but can be risky. MNCs provide stability and structured growth but may not offer fast-tracked growth. Align your choice with your risk appetite and career goals. Roles and Earnings: Designing roles (e.g., product design, UX/UI) often start with good pay but might plateau unless coupled with managerial skills. Execution roles (e.g., project management, operations) might start lower but can lead to higher earnings as you move up the ladder. Choose based on your skill set and career aspirations . Develop the Right Skills: Technical Skills: Solidify your core technical skills relevant to your field. Stay updated with industry trends and technologies. Soft Skills: Emphasize communication, leadership, problem-solving, and adaptability. Utkarsh Rai emphasizes the importance of people management, self-development, and an integrative approach to coaching . Networking and Personal Branding: Build a strong professional network both offline and online. Utilize platforms like LinkedIn and engage in industry forums. Strategize Your Application Process: Research and Target: Research companies that align with your career goals. Tailor your applications to match the company’s culture and the job’s requirements. Internships and Projects: Highlight relevant internships, projects, and any freelance work. These demonstrate your practical skills and commitment to your field. Continuous Learning and Development: Seek Mentorship: Find mentors who can guide you, offer advice, and introduce you to new opportunities. Engage with senior professionals for insights and guidance. Keep Learning: Consider further certifications, online courses, and workshops relevant to your desired role and industry. Books and Resources: For a deeper understanding and strategic guidance on advancing your career, consider reading books by Utkarsh Rai like "Faster Smarter Higher: Managing Your Career" and "101 Myths & Realities at the office". These books provide insights into navigating office politics, career planning, and professional development . Showcase Your Value: During interviews, articulate how your unique skills and experiences make you the best fit for the role. Prepare to discuss your projects, internships, and how they've prepared you for the challenges of the job. Evaluate Offers Carefully: Don’t just look at the salary. Consider the learning opportunities, the growth path, company culture, and the role’s alignment with your career goals. By combining these strategies with perseverance and a proactive approach to your career development, you can set yourself up for success in the competitive job market. Remember, the path to a high-paying job starts with identifying your strengths, continuous learning, and strategically positioning yourself in the job market.

    Mental health is more prevalent in Men. Most of today's millennials and Gen Z Mans are very fearful about expressing themselves. They don't want to expose themselves and pressure builds up over time. However, in the case of today's women, it is a little less, Women in my society meet and do parties, and men sit at home and watch tv mobiles OTT. Same with Today's kids, who don't express themselves in front of others. In corporate settings also, during all-hands or group meetings rarely anyone asks questions, this indicates people are fearful from the inside. Not brave enough to express themselves. Why People are fearful in corporate settings? - Due to insecurities (financial and fear of job loss) - Lack of confidence (low moral from childhood) These are my observation, please add more Sir.

      Irrespective of sex, the ones who open up more, share their feelings and emotions and be in the good company of well wishers, manage it well. As in my video, one of the factors is texting which is reducing interpersonal interactions. Now a days People do talk about mental health, though less. At times things which were talked, discussed and set aside in the last centuries are being taken as mental health issues due to the lack of such open and healthy conversation. Fundamentally people are becoming lonely and feeling left out, which should not be the case. The real life is different than "reel" life shown on our smartphones.

      During the interview process you can ask your hiring managers about challenges or opportunities which they expect new hires to help them. This you can do it only after your job related exchanges are over. However it is always best to find out or ask such questions a few months after joining the company, because first you have to excel in the role for which you are hired and when you gain trust then manager will be more forthcoming to share other challenges and seek help

    Sir...in my office they are asking me to work extra hours...even if I complete my work ..they are making me simply sit.. I'm completely mental drained...my physical and mental health is getting affected..what should I do... should I quit without other job..? I'm afraid whether I will get another job?

    • @UtkarshKumarRai
      @UtkarshKumarRai 5 місяців тому

      First look into the reason why are they asking you to sit extra hours? Is it because other team members have yet to complete the work and if there is any dependency on your work, then you should be available, or it is that company culture is that people work a few extra hours. First understand this. Second if you have been asked to sit extra hours then you can upskill, get trained, try new stuff while sitting there and also you can use this extra time to build network, build better interpersonal relationship, follow your domain related news. It is mindset whether you take it as a punishment or you take it as an advantage of finishing early and using the time for your betterment. However if situation is really bad and with mindset change also your health is taking a toll, then watch my video on when to quit without have a new job ua-cam.com/video/sEoDAlwSRYs/v-deo.html
