Assuming you make $50K a year, take 1 allowance, and biweekly payroll frequency, you would have paid $255 per paycheck in 2017 and $200 in payroll taxes in 2018. The federal "tax cuts" is not the reason that is affecting you.

Imposing a tariff is not only about raising prices in America for other goods. It's also about competing with the world in manufacturing. As it is, many of the manufacturing jobs are leaving America. Having American made products will be good for American companies as they can sell their own products. Besides raising the tariffs ensures that America bring in more skilled in. So foreigners also win. Great decision by Trump! *

when commodities plunged did coors or gm cut prices.
When a family buys a 35k car on a 72mo loan an extra 300 bucks is a non argument.

"He so good on tax cuts"... for the rich! I just got a paycheck that was $150 LESS for One Week than it has been for the last 9 years - thanks to the new taxes. (I make less than $50k a year.) This will equal an additional $10k I pay yearly in taxes!

    • @dominicroybal3885

I have gone through the calculation and I am paying less Federal taxes. There is more than Federal Tax in the PR calculation (FICA, STUA, FUTA, Deductions, State Tax). It wasnt mandatory to put into effect until Feb 15 of 2018 so make sure your looking at the correct period and make sure your hours worked are consistence between periods. Assuming one allowance at 50K, you should pay about $55 less per byweekly (every two week) pay check.

Christian Munsayac so I'm losing an Additional 20% of my paycheck because I chose not to have children? That's absurd.

Tsk tsk, you should wait till everything start hitting you. The premiums will go up and the prices will be rising this year due to inflation. The net effect will prolly be zero or negative.

That is not right Margo Romero. Assuming you make $50K a year, take 1 allowance, and biweekly payroll frequency, you would have paid $255 per paycheck in 2017 and $200 in payroll taxes in 2018. The federal "tax cuts" is not the reason that is affecting you.

Tariff is a must to level the playing field for American business. We are on the right track. It did not work out during Bush because they continued sending jobs out of this country.

Somehow, the same people who, rightly, oppose minimum wage on the grounds that it makes things costlier for everyone else are ok with tariffs, even though tariffs will also make things costlier for everyone else, even though a FEW workers might benefit in the short-run. I don't know how people have so much cognitive dissonance.

    • @redarrowhead2

It's more complex than that. You know Samsung right? The Korean mega company that makes your TVs, phones, and even washing machines? Do you think they just started out and became HUGE in 30 years or so because they were just "better" at producing electronics than American companies which were already well established. NO. Koreans dodged US patents and implimented protectionist policies, e.g. tariffs, to PROTECT companies like Samsung until they grew and could destroy foreign competition. Samsung doesn't just benefit "a few workers", it's a huge part of the Korean economy now, even strengthening their currency.
My point is the issue of tariffs is not always black and white.

  • @StudentOf10
    @StudentOf10 6 років тому

This is the reason all analysts on TV are regarded as losers. The more money you lose and the more you go into debt, they say that you're real problem was that you didn't go into debt enough. BTW, a typical car uses one tonne of steel which costs only $700 dollars. 25% increase in tariff makes a car expensive by $175. Big deal. Additionally, prices of all goods imported into the US through cost arbitration abroad, are kept cheap artificially. Those prices have to rise without which the US consumer will never understand the true price of their Savings.

Accepting tariffs from other countries charging us tax to sell our stuff in their countries just invites them to do it more. Fancy mumbo jumbo notwithstanding, being a patsy is never a good economic policy--or any kind of policy. Common sense.

Do China and other countries put tariffs on American products? If they do, isn't that a trade war with us? If we can't get them to remove their tariffs on our products, wouldn't it make sense to return the favor and put tariffs on theirs? That would be pressure for them to do the right thing, remove tariffs on us, and we'll respond likewise. Then, as should be the case, we'll have a free global market and level playing field.

Kudlow what you advocate may be good for corporate executives, major shareholders, foreign workers, and foreign governments but it has been nothing short of a catastrophe for tens of millions of American workers and their their families. Their inflation adjusted incomes haven't risen in 30 years. Long term employment gone. Many have gone broke, lost their homes, their life saving their businesses . Tens of thousands of factories and tens of millions of jobs have left the US. The American middle class is being destroyed. The focus will now be on Main street and American family jobs and income, not Wall street which is what you and your wealthy friend consider to be the only thing of importance. Import taxes is one method President Trump is going to use for Americans to take back what corrupt politicians gave away. You were a poor choice and I hope your stay at in the administration is short because President Trump was elected to demolish everything you and those of like mind have advocated that has turned America into an oligarchy and not a democracy. When the train runs in reverse I hope you and your like are tied to the tracks.

wonder if trumps planning exporting steel and aluminum instead of importing it. Anybody know if we are planning on opening more mines. Never mind just found out that Trump said that we are planning on building our steel and aluminum industry back up. Sounds like prices will go up but I wonder if that be fine if we start employing more people and exporting our product or selling steel and aluminum instead of buying it.
