Honestly my favourite new content by far. StarCraft II had been getting stale and this is a breath of fresh air. I've watched every single video of BAR and come back every day hoping for another one. I really hope this remains a staple because I can't get enough!
I REALLY like his gameplay of Sc 2, BAR, however, is even better - the larger scale makes this incredibly fun to watch, new strategies and units, and the longer it goes the more the name of the game checks out, unlike SC 2, where the games get very stale very quickly for up to hours (looking at you 3 hour pro game in a tournament)
@@mr_confuse honestly. 100% agree. The longer BAR games go on the crazier they get and the more entertaining they get. But SC2.... its very boring as the games go on because it's mostly just a constant back n forth of poking and prodding of pros trying to bait the other into making a mistake.
@@beardedzeus1337 Something else to remark is that the game can be flip at any moment. One of the most fun games I had it was one that I was loosing but one single bomber flip. (that game was 3 hours long XD).
Played TA 25 years ago and loved it as a kid. Addicted to BAR. Been up all night playing and watching content. About 13 missions deep into the scenarios rn.
@wintergaming TA was literally the first rts I played followed shortly by AOE and BroodWar. I'm really excited to see people getting into BAR, it's such an articulate and intense game to play. I'm really enjoying watching your gameplay and commentary Winter. keep up the awesome streams!
I hope they add more TA maps the number of units never seems high enough in bar because it's too easy to commander snipe and stuff. Nukes also seem way to cheap/easy to get.
Starting bases are quite close to each other, so nuke defense ranges are overlapping. The best way is to give all nuke launchers to one person, so that person can fire all nukes in one salvo at one place.
Great game! You're getting much better brother. Please use more Artillery defense units to protect your front line and defense 🙏🏾 and when you're on the front build bigger Artillery to push them back more
So you have to hold down Shift + f to spam drag a line of units to be in 'fight' mode? I thought you could shift click and press f once as you drag them to get into that mode? I still dont get the difference between a(attack command), p(patrol command), and f(fight command)? They seem redundant? I am surely missing something....
Attack - unit will fire at the location/target Patrol - Unit moves between two or more points indefinitely and attacks anything in range Fight - unit goes to the location, but if anything gets in range, it will stop moving and start firing at max range (if you just move command it will keep moving and firing on the move until it reach the location/die)
Cortex is so underrated. Start with 2 grunts, 2 thugs, 5 rocket bots/5 thugs alternating on repeat and youll blow through all LLTs (and your early eco) and keep your enemy’s lane on their back foot. Build static defenses to shore up your gains, creep up radar jamming to prevent artillery spam. And you’re dunking on kids at T1. Im just waiting for the pro BAR commentary now 👀👀
Is it me or do SMDs in BAR have much longer range compared to FAF? Seems like as soon as a nuke is launched there is an anti-nuke flying across the map.
The people comparing this to Starcraft kills me. I guess that's the only RTS some people have ever seen. 1:20:35: This Anti-Nuke also kills me xD *Launching AFTER the Nuke lands* "I got it!"
I am impressed by your stamina... I feel so tire even just by watching it this long... if I were in it I will probably just hope it end regardless of who win...
Amazing game. I feel like if pros like Ptaq were here though, they'd have gone for the Dragon spam. Coz those planes are just a nightmare to deal with in the end game. I've seen a game turned over just with Dragons, against Juggernauts. Liche (atomic bombers) are good to snipe commanders, but Dragons will destroy entire bases.
with respect you should've committed your jugs multiple times and self destructed them; you play them cautiously which is the opposite of what they're made to do :)
I just can't get into this. Yes in a real world battle field you would be probably just controlling icons but its not fun to watch. In my opinion of course.
I tried to like this game since I also want a cool new RTS. But to me it feels and looks like a pimped Direct Strike with a Supreme Commander optic. I am trying guys!!
This game is based on Total Annihilation, which is one of the first RTS games ever made. Anyone who likes it should check out Supreme Commader FAF, which is generally credited as the best RTS ever made (and with good reason).
@@Chessandmotorcycles2426 idk about the toxicity, but there's plenty of elitism around to be sure. Pretty inevitable in competitive games, tbh. APM is similar to BAR. But ACU and SACU teleporting to the backfield behind enemy bases to throw down a stelth-field and banks of TMLs is the kind of original shenanigans that brings FAF a little ahead imho. BAR is still in alpha tho, so i guess ill keep playing both.
@HateMachinist You must be very new to FAF. FAF has an automated reclaim of sort, but it is very much less effective. If you dont click on all reclaim manually at some point, you can not get over certain rating. You need to click 50 times on same spot to make bomber hover, and be more useful. You need to click on all mexes in right way to upgrade them. There is no autobuilding in long and large, even less in spread out. etc. It is very badly seen, if lower rated player tryes to joins high rated game, because it would force high rated players to think rather than follow 20 min long build orders blindly, while competing in click spam. BAR has almost all repetitive things with automation possibility (reclaim, repair, revive, building, upgrading, attacking etc.), while FAF is filled with artificial obligations to spam clicks, even more than one might except.
@@Chessandmotorcycles2426 if that is what you are getting at, i can understand you better. Its an older game with older UI and old solutions to problems BAR have new solutions for, go figure. But that is a technicality, not active design. FAF have much deeper nuances in how its units work, the scope, scale and complex possibilities. I think BAR is easier to learn, and more approachable like that, so it will likely be more popular for it.
@@HateMachinist It is true, that FAF has old engine that runs quite bad, I believe 3-4 times more laggy than BAR. But avoiding automatisations and even more adding artificial apm dumps is a deliberat decision. FAF has forum (and discord), you can check out, if you want. And if you want to see some toxicity and lies. Forcing people to spam clicks artificially is not related to engin, it is an active design. And yes, I too think BAR is easyer to learn. FAF has some (unit)values you can only find in code, and basicly noone knows exactly how everythign works. And this is kind of deliberate also...
No idea what's going on but I'm apprehensive about games lasting this long despite having a team mate who's clearly new and doesn't listen to advice. Even AoE4 team games end faster than this.

Don't care what you say, yall need to invest in defense turrets to fight off the waves. If nothing else, it'll buy time when there's a Thor rush. Also establish some mine fields.
Beware: BAR can be addictive...
yes... a bit to much... PTSD of League...
Indeed
1 hour and 39 minutes of video runned down like 30 sec, that the power of addiction
Simple yet full of depth, myriads of tactics, Powerful defenses and the ability to bring them down.
How is this not addicting?

Map reveal: "Just a tiny bit of water to remind you how terrible water is"
First two major pushes come from the lakes: "AHHHHH!HHHGH"
So funny how you managed to not only Rebuild from the ashes but i think you overflowed so much emergy for the team you may had held them together lol
A 1h 40 BAR. You know it's going to be good
Match was that long because some dude decided to set game speed to 0.8x
@@AKU666but even on speed 1 it would be around 1h 15
I find it funny how you waited till green got massacred and almost got into your back door to react to the push at 22 minutes lol
"Im building an AFUS and if it dies im leaving the game" - I know that player.
This game was intense! I definetly would've alt f4 but you carried on and actually created the win!
Ah yes the juggernaut, towering powerful weapon, oddly sneaky too, if your enemy isn't looking
I call them heavy scouts for a reason
Another BAR video, another banger. Nice.
Also, idk how you didn't flame GodvsUs. Watching them play made ME salty, and I wasn't even playing.
From my experience in 8v8 GowsUs consist of a least three players from your team, and you are stuck holding your part of the front in 1v3
i like to use the air base for their engineers because they can cover ground much faster and place emplacements in hard to reach areas
Great game, BAR is awesome. Music really added to it too.
Was doing some games against AI today with a friend to both learn how to play the game. One of the AI was called Wintergaming.
Came here to say the same!
Me either
"Hall of the Mountain Jugg" loved it 8)
You should try casting a few BAR matches, Winter, that would be cool.
"I snuck a Jug past"
Steiner Scout Squad go!
It's not the size of the jug in the fight but how you use it
Would love to see you making an Long range Arty barrage or air swarm to completely flip a game sometime
Epic. There were many victories and mistakes, but none greater than d-gunning your sneaky jugg with the last commander.

gg what a crazy game, that was my first time getting the Calamity out. I didn't have enough power to fully run it!
core memory for me now ty bro hahaha
the fact that the commander d gun can take out a juggernaut is actually kinda lit, maybe a little broken
your commander might also die to the explosion
I mean not really usually it results in the death of the commander and killing the commanders is ultimately what ends the game
i actually like the salvage and revive mechanic
It's a whole world of depth lacking from other rts games I've played.
Reclaiming your own units and buildings enables so much strategy

Whats a good counter vs Juggs and Behemoths with Armada?
Bro the music coming in at 1:19:15. 💯
What does Arm get that's good at T3? Seems a bit lopsided once you get gantries on either side.

Is this music in game? Or is it your music playing through the game?
1:17:05 "Nukes are about sending a message."
Maybe, but not in Morse code ffs.

The people need a WH40K Game of this scale🤤
This RTS isn't intense enough. 😜 The engine needs an match evaluation bar to ramp up the anxiety.
i have a 2hour game that you cant tell who's winning if you want it. to be fair my side looks to be loosing and theres so many nukes
Make a swarm of paralizer drones on the reserve to Stop pushes from massacrating your ally players
14:00 what are you doing ?
winter can you do a keyboard bind tutorial? and more tutorials would be welcome. please and thank you. love watching your content.
all of the binds are on bar's website

That was a epic match.
