I love this review. Today is 12/04/2020.After watching his review last night and test driving one today I bought a bought a used 2018 Civic Touring with 15K. Like you said they are hard to find! I'm pretty sure I will love it.
Actually it does matter because a) it’s something you’re paying for so it should work better and b) those two services still rely on cell signal. I know you can download Google maps for offline use however that’s only for a very limited area and you might forget to do it and then get stuck in an area with no signal. Even though I rarely use my embedded nav, I like having it as a back up just in case.
I bought a used 2016 Civic Touring sedan last year and I absolutely love it. Great gas mileage, solid powertrain performance, full LED headlights and taillights, a good amount of standard safety and drivers assist features, and it's stylish inside and out in my opinion. I even like the Touring trunk lid badge that let's you flex on those LX and EX Civic owners. 😉😉 I'd go as far to say the top trim Touring sedan easily beats the top trim Corolla XSE sedan and Hyundai Elantra Limited sedan in terms of overall powertrain performance, driving and handling, standard safety features, interior passenger and cargo storage, and tech amenities.
@@JulezWinnfield I heard the oil dilution is a case by case basis, maybe you got a peach, I was looking at a 2017 civic touring with only 11k miles at a rock bottom price of 17.7k, it was 4k below market and was clean as can be, but the oil was changed about 500 miles before i tested it, i popped the oil cap and you could smell gasoline which sucks :( i really wanted to buy it too, it was a 2 door coupe and was a beautiful machine with a peppy little engine
tinleo333 the current 1.5 is underrated from the epa people are reporting mid 30s in the city and low to mid 40s on the highway as high as 48 mpg its very fuel efficient. And it’s not slow either it has decent power overall it’s a much better engine than the old 1.8.
I'm leasing a 2017 EX-L. I love my Civic, although there are a few things I don't like. No CD player, no lumbar support, no blind spot monitoring, no LED headlights (except Touring, the Corolla has them) and the car is too low. I find the turbo engine really, really peppy. So much so that I mostly keep it in econo mode. I worry about the long term reliability of the turbo but I can't imagine Honda would put all of it's eggs (turbo in all the Accords except the hybrid) in one basket without making them almost bullet proof. Despite all that I'm considering buying a 2020 when my lease is up. I'm also considering a 2020 Accord EX or a 2020 Insight EX. The Insight is an IIHS safety pick plus.
We have just bought the 1.5t CVT HB sport(for wife) in East europe(Estonia). To eliminate turbo lag, put it in sport mode, that raises the rpm. Another trick is to pull the - shiftbutton on the steering wheel. That locks the cvt to a lower gear ratio for about as long you push the gas pedal. Also we got the adaptive suspension that make the car stiff, like the 2007 1.8 HB. But we did not get the volume button. That we miss. We have a bit curvy road on the way to work, Wife loves to put in sport and turn the suspension to stiff on that road. On daily drive, the Honda cvt in that civic is far better than the Nissan ones, and it is pretty fast when needed. Some say under 8 sec 0-60.
Thank you for that enjoyable father & son review! Interesting in that you get the prospective from a father who's lived long enough to have a frame of reference & the son's fresh perspective. I wish you guys could have had the old CICC along side the current CIVIC to show how far the company has progressed since it's humble beginnings.
The fact that the LX is the highest selling makes all the sense in the world. As you get into the mid to late twenty grand mark you are in Accord/Camry land. Not to mention flavor of the moment SUV and entry level sport variations. For me, this is the best entry level option.
LX 2.0L Sedan is especially popular in Canada. Comes with heated seated and upgraded head unit. Also, great incentive back in 2017 because of piston slap issue. Got mine for $16k (plus fees and in Canadian monopoly money).
@@psewgobind yeah. Straight pipes said in one of their videos that the Civic is number one in Canada. I lived in Alberta back in 83. I'm 46 now and can't wait to at least visit my town of Red Deer again. Happy thanksgiving eh.

We are a Honda family, and have a ‘17 Civic Si in the fleet. It’s a great car, less the volume knob which they’ve since added back! A great product for sure! Keep up the great work guys!
Definitey disagree about being the best in class interior. My friend has one and its aesthetically nice, but there is hard plastic EVERYWHERE. It’s very uncomfortable and the seats are average at best. The overhead console also falls out. I have a hard time believing the Mazda 3 doesn’t take that category. The Civic is a solid car, just disagree on that part.
The interior is very practical and driver oriented. The center console is huge without getting in the way of the shifter. There is still more space at the front of the console, under the dashboard. I have no idea what "The overhead console also falls out" refers to.
S K S K how is it “driver oriented”? It’s like every other car ever. The center console is shit and the cup holder system is absolutely horrendous. The overhead console (where the light switches are, that $0.10 worth of plastic) on my friends brand new civic fell out while driving. The entire car feels like you’re trapped inside of a plastic water bottle. I was very unimpressed with the civics interior and even my friend said the seats in his sport edition were uncomfortable.
I have a 2016 Civic Touring sedan which is my daily driver. I bought it used 2 years ago and it's pretty much been bulletproof after 50,000 miles so far. I love the Touring only amenities (built in navigation, heated back seats, upgraded Honda audio system). Mine is this same exterior color with the black interior and it looks great in my opinion. I actually prefer the 2016-2018 chrome grille vs the refreshed black grille though. I do like that Honda added a homelink garage system, instead of my opener being clipped to my drivers visor. All in all, I'd always choose the top Touring trim in any Honda vehicle since I like my bells and whistles included.
You have to connect your phone before using the voice prompt correctly. I personally never ask for directions unless im on apple car play it works fine then.
I wonder how many people complaining about the CVT in the comments have actually driven this drivetrain combination. I would agree it has lag from a standstill, it's responsive when driving at speed, especially in S mode. Acceleration is also documented to be competitive for the class as another here has mentioned. The excessive ragging on the CVT seems like sour grapes over the lack of a manual option, something increasingly difficult to find on a daily driver. Another great TFL review! As far as infotainment goes, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto makes built-in voice recognition and nav somewhat moot.
The new Civic seems to be about the size of the first Accord & that's a good thing. Substantial enough to have interior room & comfort, but not overly so. Thanks for posting.
I would to get the sport with the 2.0 even though it's not as quick. Tried-and-true VTech or oil dilution. Honda should also bring back the traditionally emergency brake.
You had 3 people in the car at CO altitude and wanna call it slow. The 10th gen with the 1.5t and cvt is the fastest in the class (non sport models ie Si, Electra gt, gti/gli, etc). It’s been faster than 9th gen Si. 14.9-15.3 1/4 mile.
The lane watch camera is not cool at all. I would much rather a have blind spot monitoring. If you’re using the gps and it tells you to turn right and there are a few close right turns like in the city and you put on your indicator..... the nav goes out and the camera turns on....while you’re trying to see specifically where the gps is telling you to go. Now you’ve missed your turn.
If you are not going to get an Si, and going to spend that much, get the Sport Touring Hatchback, which has more cargo utility, a little more racy design than the sedan body, the center mount twin outlet exhaust, and for 2020, even nicer wheels, and available 6 speed manual shifter, with all the goodies from the Sport Hatchback, but all the rest of the options like the sunroof, leather seats, and all the power options. But if you want a more reliable non turbo engine, with all the other goodies of the Sport Hatchback, with just 20 less horsepower for $22K, get the Sport Sedan or Coupe. You can get a 6 Speed, too, if you can find one. It has all the best options and such for the best price. And should have the new wheels from the Sport Hatchback.
Sport Hatch looks great if you're a young punk. Sedan design will age better, especially if it has the 2.0L K-Series that's proven for high mileage use. We've got tons of Sport Hatch here in Toronto and the in your face looks is getting old.
@@psewgobind I like the Sport Hatchback, and I am a lot older than a young punk, but unless I get a loaded new Toyota Camry XSE that I might modify close to TRD performance, I would rather have the non turbo Civic Sport Sedan. Both engines on the Camry are normally aspirated, with the I4 decent, but 100 horsepower less than the V6, but also with the rel7anility and longevity factors you mentioned, and have the wheels, suspension and such of the Sport Hatchback turbo, but more subdued in appearance. It was not intended to be a tuner car like the turbo version, but have the sporty appearance and handling for buyers than may have family members of all ages drive it as a daily vehicle.
@@psewgobind 2021 TRD Camry? The year is 2019. The Camry TRD is coming out soon, but it's a 2020 model. It's based on a Camry SE to keep costs down. And is under $30K. A loaded Camry V6 is about $37K with the optional package. The Lexus F Sport is just under $40K, that's a $10K difference. The F Sport Lexus models are their top of the line performance models. The Camry TRD and Lexus ES F Sport are based on the same basic chassis, but totally different animals. They drive way different. The Camry TRD is based on the SE, but has the V6 not available for that car. It lacks lots of the options in even the XSE with the 4 cylinder engine. The TRD has a special body kit and rear spoiler, lighter and wider, forged wheels, high performance 2 piston front brakes, upgraded exhaust system, stiffer shocks and lowered springs, and other upgraded suspension parts, and added chassis braces, rear seat does not fold down, and customers interior withbthe logis on front seat headrests, red seat belts, and red stitching accents. It was was made for race car track performance handling. The Lexus ES F Sport is the top of the line loaded luxury support sedan with all the options, designed for comfort, and performance handling, tuned totally with different driving dynamics, so I don't get what your point is. Same engine on both. The TRD looks fancy, but does not have lots of the options from the Camry XSE and whatever the Lexus ES F Sport has.
Yay! A buddy review!!! Hope to see many more! I have to agree with Roman. Good looking car inside and out but with a CVT, lease it or forget it. I lean towards the latter. I wish CVT's and fake exhaust would disappear from vehicles.
This is my car and I absolutely love it!! Best car I've ever owned :D edit: I don't use the built-in navigation system and console features I just use apple carplay which is amazing and works super seamlessly!
28k for failed navigation is unacceptable.. you should review the 2.0 engines for corrola, civic and mazda.. its a fair review and most of people has 2.0 engine than turbo.
28k? Holy crap in 2017 I bought my girl a brand new 2017 Civic Touring for 25k and the only thing it did not have was wireless charging. She doesn't have the radio knob but the Honda always had the up and down button features on the top and bottom of the slider control. You don't have to use the slider. I could never understand why people thought there was only the slider and did not push the up and down button.
I have owned Civics in the past, I might buy one again but I definitely don't want a CVT. As for engines: direct injection AND turbocharging is a recipe for short engine life. Finally, I haven't priced a Touring but would imagine that there is a price overlap with the Accord. This Touring, to me, is a case of market niche over reach by Honda.
I think the reason why this trim only sells so much is that for that amount of money you can get a CR-V EX, with the same engine and you get an SUV, with the added benefits of that.

My brother bought the new sport and LOVED the car but HATED the 0-20 mph lag in acceleration. He felt the lack of power was dangerous. Tried a good tune, unfortunately didn’t help the 0-20. Gave up and dumped the car after three months. A good friend of his bought the same car (different color) and also has the same love/hate feeling for his.
In Honda you have to say “Navigation” next you have to say “find place” and then say the place you want to go, clearly these guys don’t know what they’re doing, stuck in traffic you can read the screen just fine.
Walter Garcia I never use navigation inside the car, but for the money they're charging it should work properly. Besides, then you have to put up with the slow responding infotainment controls. Not everything works on my phone. And frankly some of that should work better on the car. The iPad came out almost 10 years ago and it worked perfectly as far as response. He's carmaker still don't have a clue

I used to own a 2007 coupe, but now with family and house a crossover is only way to go. A higher ground clearance and more practical trunk, similar priced is a win win. The touring is more expensive than a mazda cx5 touring with the same features. As an added comment, go cares about USB ports, everyone could get an plug in DC adapter and current USB are quick charge for androids, so a $20 is a quick fixed, so stop with that usb ports.
6MT transmission in GenX civic is massively better then CVT. I'm mostly in the city with my 2.0L 6MT Sedan and have never rotated my tires. Result is, front tires are completely worn while backs are like new. There's no chance in hell that the CVT will be able to put down power that hard (from a stop) and not croak (long-term extreme use..in short-term that CVT can take some extreme abuse). In my NA 2.0 6MT, Instead of waiting for power to come in, i'm controlling wheel spin before I give it the hammer. Tons of fun on skinny tires cause you feel like you've got a very torque engine under the hood. Got it in the 16s at the drag strip, which isn't bad when considering I usually get more traction in the rain. There was one time, a few years back where engine oil had a hint of gas. but that was when oil was overfilled by an extra litre and I was too curious to see what would happen if I didn't drain the excess.
The touring trim is a little too much. The lower level trims are better values. And please stfu about the oil dilution. They’ve fixed it in the newer models and Honda did a better job of the recall campaign than GM or Hyundai does when they run into a problem.
The civic is slowly becoming over priced. Sorry, but 30k for a civic is way over priced. 30k for a type R maybe but not for a basic civic. I am glad to see buddy reviews back.
When was the last time a brand new car didn't act brand new? Without a long term follow up review, potential buyers will never know about the critical oil dilution issue on all Honda DreamWorks 1.5 turbo engines. The owner's manual warns us not to use the wrong oil viscosity (or the warranty will be voided) yet the engine itself changes the viscosity, by diluting it with gasoline. Stay Away!
Sorry you guys are having a hard with some of tests with this car. Not a good day when the nav system can't find your sandwich shop and you have to go hungry during the test. Roman and Tommy thanks for sharing the review.
almost all Honda have a driver side issue specially for tall drivers , Leg Knee hit on the hard surface which hurts , I saw that your leg was laying on the side and I am sure you might not comfortable , other hand Honda uses noise canceling via its stereo system woofers which produce kind of frequency that help to dim the outdoor noise to the ears . ANC .
I don't seem to remember you two nailing your tesla for not having a volume knob. Flat screens are nice with no knobs. Take care guys , great channel. 👍
I think Roman is right. For 28 grand you expect more than what this car can deliver you. For the same money, you might as well get the Si Manual... or just go straight for a midsize car with some decent options. Or buy one of the many crossover/SUV options instead. Also, if you have another $3000 laying around above this price? Go get a Camry TRD instead. That V6 engine will leave this Civic in the dust.
I think you at TFL should see today's date: OCTOBER 15TH, 2019! (this video was loaded just the day before) You should be reviewing 2020 models, quite a bit of them ALREADY ON SALE. That's NOT considered BRAND NEW, that's now a "1 year old model" (maybe they hadn't changed much for 2020, but still...)
Honda designed the C-PILLAR on the insight and Civic to look very pleasing to the eyes. Their attempt to do the Hofmeister kink actually works with those 2 models. However, they failed miserably with the Accord by trying to be edgy and it throws off the entire aesthetics of the car. The tailights don't help either on the Accord. That's why the Civic outsells it. If the Accord had the insights rear end it would have outsold the king of family sedans. Aka KING CAM😃😁
I'm not a fan of the CVT either, but a least Honda and Toyota do a better job with their CVT's compare to Nissan. The Nissan CVT's are the absolute worst. The Nissan's have so many reliability problems with their CVT's.
I had a 16 ex-t without the volume control. It was fine and I could turn the volume up or down just fine. Before you beat on it why not ask what is the cars job?
It would have been a better review if you actually understood how the tech in the car worked and all features...your review is like getting into a car for the first time and just making comments of what you obviously find. Just a thought.
Or people may just not buy it as the majority of people don't like Chrome everywhere. Chrome should be a Choice even in the "expensive" packages because out of the large amount people I know there are only a couple that want Chrome and neither of them are younger people. Also, Those Wheels are not special they were the 1 upgraded model for the past 3 years for the Base model, and were included on almost every other body type EX, EX-L and S (or at least that is how my local dealerships have them all packaged). When it comes to CVT, you either like it or you don't, there really is no in-between. Manual should still be the "Standard" option, then CVT, then the basic Automatic.
Meh. Civic Type R or the Civic Coup are the only 2 Honda cars of interest to me today. For the 28K here, I would take the Coup and add what ever I wanted for the extra 8K.(or less) I had an 82 Accord LX Hatch back 5 speed with A/C. It was simple, FUN, reliable and took me everywhere and then some with 28-34 MPG. That is what Honda should be. Not this CVT garbage. Sad how the Eco world has shifted to CVT. Bottom line, I would leave it to be crushed. ;)
civic is not one of the best looking car in the segment, it IS the best looking car in the segment..all the other cars looks very typical, well, some looks good too but the civic is the best.. 😊 even the new altis, the front looks good but the sides looks boring, the back is nothing compared to the civic..
28k is tremendously expensive for a top of line car? Really? Especially a good car like a honda? Look at the other cars comparable to this. But, I guess it's always been the case that the high end versions of small cars have been a hard sell in the US. We'll willingly pay tons more for a lesser SUV though.
Sadly I bought a brand new civic in 2017 that’s identical to this one. I’ve had to unload it. Nothing but issues ac compressor went. Cvt is leaking and revs with out giving gas sometimes. And not to mention the oil dilution. Very sad Honda has let quality go to crap!!
Honda does not have a defective paint issue. They owners do. Seriously I hear you, and like was commented here, they are trying to evade the issue of the water based paint and deleting 1 or two steps in the paint process. I also heard mention that it may be specific to certain paint colors and not others, but have not seen any confirmed information supporting that. I also wonder if high quality ceramic coating, those clear plastic paint protection films, or other high quality sealer polishes like F11 Top Coat or others used generously, often would prevent the fading and peeling problem.
Well I’m part of the 5% cause I only buy the top trim. Lol. No one pays MSRP. They are offering $3k off if you shop smart. You should be smarter then the car and know the car before the video.
Using msrp is a good benchmark. It’s unreasonable for them to do market research on the average price of every trim level. Yeah you get $3k off your $28k civic, but I got $3k off my $25k Si. So msrp difference is extremely relevant.
Firestarter my point is they complain bout the price when no one really pays that. Like in this video saying the price of the car is in accord territory. Like some how being in accord territory some how takes away from the value of the civic.
Firestarter Well and I think 28k is way to high for any civic. There needs to be a lot of change and additions made to the car to be worth that msrp. And the Si is cheaper cause it’s based on a lower trim and u don’t get the same stuff.
I used to like the top trim, but not all cars offer the Sport performance and appearance equipment in the fully loaded vehicle. But the Civic Sport Touring Hatchback is an exception. Many dealerships add on a $3K scalping fee/markup for their vehicles. Even more for a specialty car like the Type R. The Si is considered more of a production vehicle. So that's a bargain if you can get $3K off of the MSRP. Even the NSRP price is a deal under the conditions I mentioned above.
@@pbentsonable The 2020 Si is nicely equipped, especially with the new wheels. They have an optional HFP package that I am not interested in. But some may like all the options and body configuration of the Civic Sport Hatchback. To me, the 2020 Sport Hatchback has all the thinks I want fir a good price if I wanted the Hatchback and turbo performance and ability to modify it, now that it has all the goodies from the Civic Sport Sedan/Coupe that debuted last year as a 2019 model. That totally sucked back then for the Sport Hatchback. But I will probably get the Sport Sedan now, with the 6 Speed if I can find one, for more durability, reliability, dependability, and longevity, and less potential problems than the turbo engines. I am still an enthusiast, but not a tuner. I may only customize and add a few other things. If I had the resources for a fully loaded new Camry XSE V6, there a few more performance things I would add to bring it close to the TRD level with all the XSE bells and whistles.
Correction big issue is ...OIL DILUTION! thank you. Plus turbos after a while take and leak oil especially with negligent maintenance. Also heat soak issues. Get the NA.
All it does is make the gas pedal less responsive, so if you have a lead foot and tend to push to hard it ensures you give less gas and have to push more to get a smaller increase in rpm, but if you floor it it still does what it would do normally
Honda has gone down hill, I drove an LX and wow what a joke of a car. Lots of road noise, 150hp was very meh for it's small size, just felt generic overall. So for slightly more I bought a GMC Terrain (2019), 5 USB ports, the best infotainment center you can find, turbo, AWD of course and WAY more bang for your buck overall. And reliability I think will outdo Honda these days. As I've read they just aren't what they use to be.
Voice commands with built in car equipment always sucks. I don't know why they bother. Everyone uses there phones. That's why it keeps asking you to pair a phone. Ok Google . Navigate to Snarf Burger.. Done.
I was given the chance to drive a 2019 Civic EX for a week whilst my regular car (2016 Hyundai Elantra) was being fixed and repainted following a fender bender from an idiot hitting me in a parking lot. And I was quickly reminded of how cheaply made this car is for the asking price. Doors are thin, noise is high, infotainment system is awful (very very sluggish), the CVT is sluggish, the seats are uncomfortable, and the ride is bumpy, and not as much standard equipment as other manufacturers for the same price range. Expensive cheap car.
You drive an Elantra and says the civic feels cheap??? I actually went on a test drive with my buddy in the 2019 Elantra and it feels more cheap than the civic😂
Kyron Poullard I was driving a 2016 Elantra at the time, not the newer (and cheaper) model. The doors on the Honda are half as thick and cabin noise was much louder, and to say nothing of the sluggish as hell CVT on it.

The old 1.8l was perfect why turbo and cvt in a car that needs to last :(

Jeff Conard I’ve seen the 1.5t get 48.7 mpg on a 5 hour highway trip it’s a more efficient engine and extra hp and torque too

Another trick is to pull the - shiftbutton on the steering wheel. That locks the cvt to a lower gear ratio for about as long you push the gas pedal. Also we got the adaptive suspension that make the car stiff, like the 2007 1.8 HB. But we did not get the volume button. That we miss.
We have a bit curvy road on the way to work, Wife loves to put in sport and turn the suspension to stiff on that road.
On daily drive, the Honda cvt in that civic is far better than the Nissan ones, and it is pretty fast when needed. Some say under 8 sec 0-60.

The fact that the LX is the highest selling makes all the sense in the world. As you get into the mid to late twenty grand mark you are in Accord/Camry land. Not to mention flavor of the moment SUV and entry level sport variations.
For me, this is the best entry level option.
LX 2.0L Sedan is especially popular in Canada. Comes with heated seated and upgraded head unit. Also, great incentive back in 2017 because of piston slap issue. Got mine for $16k (plus fees and in Canadian monopoly money).

Definitey disagree about being the best in class interior. My friend has one and its aesthetically nice, but there is hard plastic EVERYWHERE. It’s very uncomfortable and the seats are average at best. The overhead console also falls out. I have a hard time believing the Mazda 3 doesn’t take that category. The Civic is a solid car, just disagree on that part.

S K S K how is it “driver oriented”? It’s like every other car ever. The center console is shit and the cup holder system is absolutely horrendous. The overhead console (where the light switches are, that $0.10 worth of plastic) on my friends brand new civic fell out while driving. The entire car feels like you’re trapped inside of a plastic water bottle. I was very unimpressed with the civics interior and even my friend said the seats in his sport edition were uncomfortable.
I have a 2016 Civic Touring sedan which is my daily driver. I bought it used 2 years ago and it's pretty much been bulletproof after 50,000 miles so far. I love the Touring only amenities (built in navigation, heated back seats, upgraded Honda audio system). Mine is this same exterior color with the black interior and it looks great in my opinion. I actually prefer the 2016-2018 chrome grille vs the refreshed black grille though. I do like that Honda added a homelink garage system, instead of my opener being clipped to my drivers visor. All in all, I'd always choose the top Touring trim in any Honda vehicle since I like my bells and whistles included.

You have to connect your phone before using the voice prompt correctly. I personally never ask for directions unless im on apple car play it works fine then.
I wonder how many people complaining about the CVT in the comments have actually driven this drivetrain combination. I would agree it has lag from a standstill, it's responsive when driving at speed, especially in S mode. Acceleration is also documented to be competitive for the class as another here has mentioned. The excessive ragging on the CVT seems like sour grapes over the lack of a manual option, something increasingly difficult to find on a daily driver.

I would to get the sport with the 2.0 even though it's not as quick. Tried-and-true VTech or oil dilution. Honda should also bring back the traditionally emergency brake.
You had 3 people in the car at CO altitude and wanna call it slow. The 10th gen with the 1.5t and cvt is the fastest in the class (non sport models ie Si, Electra gt, gti/gli, etc). It’s been faster than 9th gen Si. 14.9-15.3 1/4 mile.

The lane watch camera is not cool at all. I would much rather a have blind spot monitoring. If you’re using the gps and it tells you to turn right and there are a few close right turns like in the city and you put on your indicator..... the nav goes out and the camera turns on....while you’re trying to see specifically where the gps is telling you to go. Now you’ve missed your turn.
If you are not going to get an Si, and going to spend that much, get the Sport Touring Hatchback, which has more cargo utility, a little more racy design than the sedan body, the center mount twin outlet exhaust, and for 2020, even nicer wheels, and available 6 speed manual shifter, with all the goodies from the Sport Hatchback, but all the rest of the options like the sunroof, leather seats, and all the power options. But if you want a more reliable non turbo engine, with all the other goodies of the Sport Hatchback, with just 20 less horsepower for $22K, get the Sport Sedan or Coupe. You can get a 6 Speed, too, if you can find one. It has all the best options and such for the best price. And should have the new wheels from the Sport Hatchback.
Sport Hatch looks great if you're a young punk. Sedan design will age better, especially if it has the 2.0L K-Series that's proven for high mileage use. We've got tons of Sport Hatch here in Toronto and the in your face looks is getting old.
@@psewgobind I like the Sport Hatchback, and I am a lot older than a young punk, but unless I get a loaded new Toyota Camry XSE that I might modify close to TRD performance, I would rather have the non turbo Civic Sport Sedan. Both engines on the Camry are normally aspirated, with the I4 decent, but 100 horsepower less than the V6, but also with the rel7anility and longevity factors you mentioned, and have the wheels, suspension and such of the Sport Hatchback turbo, but more subdued in appearance. It was not intended to be a tuner car like the turbo version, but have the sporty appearance and handling for buyers than may have family members of all ages drive it as a daily vehicle.

@@psewgobind 2021 TRD Camry? The year is 2019. The Camry TRD is coming out soon, but it's a 2020 model. It's based on a Camry SE to keep costs down. And is under $30K. A loaded Camry V6 is about $37K with the optional package. The Lexus F Sport is just under $40K, that's a $10K difference. The F Sport Lexus models are their top of the line performance models. The Camry TRD and Lexus ES F Sport are based on the same basic chassis, but totally different animals. They drive way different. The Camry TRD is based on the SE, but has the V6 not available for that car. It lacks lots of the options in even the XSE with the 4 cylinder engine. The TRD has a special body kit and rear spoiler, lighter and wider, forged wheels, high performance 2 piston front brakes, upgraded exhaust system, stiffer shocks and lowered springs, and other upgraded suspension parts, and added chassis braces, rear seat does not fold down, and customers interior withbthe logis on front seat headrests, red seat belts, and red stitching accents. It was was made for race car track performance handling. The Lexus ES F Sport is the top of the line loaded luxury support sedan with all the options, designed for comfort, and performance handling, tuned totally with different driving dynamics, so I don't get what your point is. Same engine on both. The TRD looks fancy, but does not have lots of the options from the Camry XSE and whatever the Lexus ES F Sport has.

1 thing i HATE about the civic is the big HUMP at the middle of rear passenger seats.
28k for failed navigation is unacceptable.. you should review the 2.0 engines for corrola, civic and mazda.. its a fair review and most of people has 2.0 engine than turbo.

28k? Holy crap in 2017 I bought my girl a brand new 2017 Civic Touring for 25k and the only thing it did not have was wireless charging. She doesn't have the radio knob but the Honda always had the up and down button features on the top and bottom of the slider control. You don't have to use the slider. I could never understand why people thought there was only the slider and did not push the up and down button.
My daughters 2019 LX with a 2.0 gets 38 mpg combined every week and is very responsive. Do a buddy compare of the base model vs the touring.
I have owned Civics in the past, I might buy one again but I definitely don't want a CVT. As for engines: direct injection AND turbocharging is a recipe for short engine life. Finally, I haven't priced a Touring but would imagine that there is a price overlap with the Accord.
This Touring, to me, is a case of market niche over reach by Honda.
I think the reason why this trim only sells so much is that for that amount of money you can get a CR-V EX, with the same engine and you get an SUV, with the added benefits of that.

My brother bought the new sport and LOVED the car but HATED the 0-20 mph lag in acceleration. He felt the lack of power was dangerous. Tried a good tune, unfortunately didn’t help the 0-20. Gave up and dumped the car after three months. A good friend of his bought the same car (different color) and also has the same love/hate feeling for his.

Yes, CVT. The initial acceleration is so weak that they both felt the car is somewhat dangerous when pulling out into 45+ mph roads.
In Honda you have to say “Navigation” next you have to say “find place” and then say the place you want to go, clearly these guys don’t know what they’re doing, stuck in traffic you can read the screen just fine.
Why go through this pain when you can use car play or android auto?

You can always use Android Auto or Apple Carplay....I don't even use the regular navigation and voice command in the car.
Walter Garcia I never use navigation inside the car, but for the money they're charging it should work properly. Besides, then you have to put up with the slow responding infotainment controls. Not everything works on my phone. And frankly some of that should work better on the car. The iPad came out almost 10 years ago and it worked perfectly as far as response. He's carmaker still don't have a clue

I used to own a 2007 coupe, but now with family and house a crossover is only way to go. A higher ground clearance and more practical trunk, similar priced is a win win.
The touring is more expensive than a mazda cx5 touring with the same features. As an added comment, go cares about USB ports, everyone could get an plug in DC adapter and current USB are quick charge for androids, so a $20 is a quick fixed, so stop with that usb ports.

6MT transmission in GenX civic is massively better then CVT. I'm mostly in the city with my 2.0L 6MT Sedan and have never rotated my tires. Result is, front tires are completely worn while backs are like new. There's no chance in hell that the CVT will be able to put down power that hard (from a stop) and not croak (long-term extreme use..in short-term that CVT can take some extreme abuse). In my NA 2.0 6MT, Instead of waiting for power to come in, i'm controlling wheel spin before I give it the hammer.
Tons of fun on skinny tires cause you feel like you've got a very torque engine under the hood. Got it in the 16s at the drag strip, which isn't bad when considering I usually get more traction in the rain. There was one time, a few years back where engine oil had a hint of gas. but that was when oil was overfilled by an extra litre and I was too curious to see what would happen if I didn't drain the excess.

The touring trim is a little too much. The lower level trims are better values. And please stfu about the oil dilution. They’ve fixed it in the newer models and Honda did a better job of the recall campaign than GM or Hyundai does when they run into a problem.
28k isn't really that expensive. But this trim is aimed at people who prefer and opt for the Accord instead.

Without a long term follow up review, potential buyers will never know about the critical oil dilution issue on all Honda DreamWorks 1.5 turbo engines. The owner's manual warns us not to use the wrong oil viscosity (or the warranty will be voided) yet the engine itself changes the viscosity, by diluting it with gasoline. Stay Away!

almost all Honda have a driver side issue specially for tall drivers , Leg Knee hit on the hard surface which hurts , I saw that your leg was laying on the side and I am sure you might not comfortable , other hand Honda uses noise canceling via its stereo system woofers which produce kind of frequency that help to dim the outdoor noise to the ears . ANC .
You have to basically say one of the prompts from the screen in order to get to where you want to go. i.e. "Find Place".

I think Roman is right. For 28 grand you expect more than what this car can deliver you. For the same money, you might as well get the Si Manual... or just go straight for a midsize car with some decent options. Or buy one of the many crossover/SUV options instead.
Also, if you have another $3000 laying around above this price? Go get a Camry TRD instead. That V6 engine will leave this Civic in the dust.
I paid the same price for a 19 RAV4 LE AWD with blind spot monitoring. It gets almost the same mpg. I am not sure why anyone will buy this.

Honda designed the C-PILLAR on the insight and Civic to look very pleasing to the eyes. Their attempt to do the Hofmeister kink actually works with those 2 models. However, they failed miserably with the Accord by trying to be edgy and it throws off the entire aesthetics of the car. The tailights don't help either on the Accord. That's why the Civic outsells it.
If the Accord had the insights rear end it would have outsold the king of family sedans. Aka KING CAM😃😁

A camera on the left rear view window is unnecessary. It is counter-intuitive to look right at your screen in order to merge left.
The voice recognition system sucks in my civic too. I just use Apple CarPlay, Siri works very well.

Or people may just not buy it as the majority of people don't like Chrome everywhere. Chrome should be a Choice even in the "expensive" packages because out of the large amount people I know there are only a couple that want Chrome and neither of them are younger people. Also, Those Wheels are not special they were the 1 upgraded model for the past 3 years for the Base model, and were included on almost every other body type EX, EX-L and S (or at least that is how my local dealerships have them all packaged).
When it comes to CVT, you either like it or you don't, there really is no in-between.
Manual should still be the "Standard" option, then CVT, then the basic Automatic.

Meh. Civic Type R or the Civic Coup are the only 2 Honda cars of interest to me today. For the 28K here, I would take the Coup and add what ever I wanted for the extra 8K.(or less) I had an 82 Accord LX Hatch back 5 speed with A/C. It was simple, FUN, reliable and took me everywhere and then some with 28-34 MPG. That is what Honda should be. Not this CVT garbage. Sad how the Eco world has shifted to CVT. Bottom line, I would leave it to be crushed. ;)

I have a 2019 EX, which I leased because of concerns over the long term reliability of the CVT.
Sadly I bought a brand new civic in 2017 that’s identical to this one. I’ve had to unload it. Nothing but issues ac compressor went. Cvt is leaking and revs with out giving gas sometimes. And not to mention the oil dilution. Very sad Honda has let quality go to crap!!

Honda does not have a defective paint issue. They owners do. Seriously I hear you, and like was commented here, they are trying to evade the issue of the water based paint and deleting 1 or two steps in the paint process. I also heard mention that it may be specific to certain paint colors and not others, but have not seen any confirmed information supporting that.
I also wonder if high quality ceramic coating, those clear plastic paint protection films, or other high quality sealer polishes like F11 Top Coat or others used generously, often would prevent the fading and peeling problem.

Using msrp is a good benchmark. It’s unreasonable for them to do market research on the average price of every trim level.

I used to like the top trim, but not all cars offer the Sport performance and appearance equipment in the fully loaded vehicle. But the Civic Sport Touring Hatchback is an exception. Many dealerships add on a $3K scalping fee/markup for their vehicles. Even more for a specialty car like the Type R. The Si is considered more of a production vehicle. So that's a bargain if you can get $3K off of the MSRP. Even the NSRP price is a deal under the conditions I mentioned above.
@@pbentsonable The 2020 Si is nicely equipped, especially with the new wheels. They have an optional HFP package that I am not interested in. But some may like all the options and body configuration of the Civic Sport Hatchback. To me, the 2020 Sport Hatchback has all the thinks I want fir a good price if I wanted the Hatchback and turbo performance and ability to modify it, now that it has all the goodies from the Civic Sport Sedan/Coupe that debuted last year as a 2019 model. That totally sucked back then for the Sport Hatchback. But I will probably get the Sport Sedan now, with the 6 Speed if I can find one, for more durability, reliability, dependability, and longevity, and less potential problems than the turbo engines.
I am still an enthusiast, but not a tuner. I may only customize and add a few other things. If I had the resources for a fully loaded new Camry XSE V6, there a few more performance things I would add to bring it close to the TRD level with all the XSE bells and whistles.
Correction big issue is ...OIL DILUTION! thank you. Plus turbos after a while take and leak oil especially with negligent maintenance. Also heat soak issues. Get the NA.
Does them econ buttons actually work? I have one and can barely tell.
All it does is make the gas pedal less responsive, so if you have a lead foot and tend to push to hard it ensures you give less gas and have to push more to get a smaller increase in rpm, but if you floor it it still does what it would do normally

Honda has gone down hill, I drove an LX and wow what a joke of a car. Lots of road noise, 150hp was very meh for it's small size, just felt generic overall. So for slightly more I bought a GMC Terrain (2019), 5 USB ports, the best infotainment center you can find, turbo, AWD of course and WAY more bang for your buck overall. And reliability I think will outdo Honda these days. As I've read they just aren't what they use to be.
buy it even with the motor problems? Oil Dilution?
You can always get the 2.0 litre version of it as it is non turbo

I was given the chance to drive a 2019 Civic EX for a week whilst my regular car (2016 Hyundai Elantra) was being fixed and repainted following a fender bender from an idiot hitting me in a parking lot. And I was quickly reminded of how cheaply made this car is for the asking price. Doors are thin, noise is high, infotainment system is awful (very very sluggish), the CVT is sluggish, the seats are uncomfortable, and the ride is bumpy, and not as much standard equipment as other manufacturers for the same price range. Expensive cheap car.
You drive an Elantra and says the civic feels cheap??? I actually went on a test drive with my buddy in the 2019 Elantra and it feels more cheap than the civic😂
Kyron Poullard I was driving a 2016 Elantra at the time, not the newer (and cheaper) model. The doors on the Honda are half as thick and cabin noise was much louder, and to say nothing of the sluggish as hell CVT on it.
