    Car manufacturers like Honda who listen to their customers regarding their wishes about having more knobs on the touch screen should be rewarded for not only listening to customers but also improving safety. Good for you, Honda!

    Yea, I disagree. You don't need the turbo because it makes the car less reliable and the base engine is plenty powerful enough to let you break the speed limit with ease. The LX is best choice because no turbo and fewer bells and whistles which you don't need unless you are Santa Claus or one of his elves.

    • @erichaynes7502
      @erichaynes7502 5 років тому

      The LX would definitely be fine and keeps the cost down..do they make a LX with manual anymore?

    • @swanblake
      @swanblake 5 років тому +1

      Id rather have the turbo. They just extended the warranty on all the 1.5T engines.

    • @psewgobind

      Canadian LX 2.0L Sedan with 6MT can be had for $10k less than touring. K-series engine when mated with the manual transmission is more sporty 1.5T with CVT. The Canadian version of the LX has a standard heated seat, climate control, android auto/apple Carplay, etc (however, our Sport model is only optioned with CVT). The 2.0L is more forgiving than the 1.5T when mated with Honda's 6speed manual and makes for the ultimate car to learn on. Also, Given that the car is a distilled from the Type-R, it doesn't take much to tune back the extreme handling and base 2.0L shares the same engine block as Type-R and will easily handle extreme track use. If you're looking to get back into a manual or want to learn it, base LX Sedan with 6MT is the biggest bang for the buck.

    I have the EX-L, a trim lower than the Touring which is no longer offered in the 11th gen. After 5 years of ownership, I have not had any issues at all. I only had to change the battery that is all.

  • @thefilmguy
    @thefilmguy 5 років тому +6

    The sweet spot in the Civic lineup for me is going to the new Sport trim with the 6 speed manual. It's got better handling than the base LX and no sun roof. Yeah I know I'm weird, not much of a top down or open kind of guy. The only thing missing from the Sport is Lane Watch, but I can do a quick head check so I guess I can live without it.

    the center console is horribly too high. one can't move their leg to the right while on cruise control. it simply makes the interior feel smaller than it needs to be. No Thank You. (nice review though even though you didn't mention this... I wonder if you would if you took it on a longer drive)

    • @asfandasadiq4634
      @asfandasadiq4634 4 роки тому

      I agree - the knee room is confined because of the console design flaw. You have to push the seat back to counter that which gives less leg room to rear passengers.

    The Civic Type R has an outrageous, over-the-top over styling, but with an anemic throttle sound. Other than that it’s a great sports car. However, dealerships price gouge the Type by as much as $10,000 over the MSRP. I saw a white Type R in a showroom floor listing for $47,000!! Even if I could afford that price and I was interested in buying one, I wouldn’t pay that kind of money because I feel that’s insulting for what is basically a sport-tuned mainstream economy-car.

    • @2004cyrus
      @2004cyrus 5 років тому

      Henry Espinosa many people will pay the premium just to have that vehicle. I sell cars and we put premiums on many less common cars and so many people have the extra money and throw the money at us to get that special car! Lol

    I keep hearing things about how the oil and gas end up mixing. Is it still true for this model and year?

    • @craigmain248
      @craigmain248 4 роки тому +6

      There will always be some oil dilution on direct injection engines. Not just Hondas. The 1.5 liter engines have the problem but the 2.0 liter engines do not. Honda has taken some action on the 1.5 liter cars to reduce the effects and in most cases it won't be a problem. Changing your oil when the onboard computer (Maintenance Minder) gets to 30% (about 5,000 miles/8,000 kilometers) should just about eliminate any chances that oil dilution will ever be a problem.
      Oil dilution has no immediate effect on your engine's performance but it may lead to premature engine failure although by that time it is likely that the car will be old and worn out anyway as the engines usually outlive the other major components of the car like the transmission, air conditioning system, electronics and exhaust.
      Beware that there are a lot of Honda haters on the internet spreading disinformation about this issue.

      Like I said, the engine will likely outlast the rest of the vehicle even with this problem. I wouldn't buy a used one though. A lot of people make performance and electrical mods to these cars and that has dramatic effects on the durability.

      Piotr I keep a nice cloth cover on my console for that reason. However I’ve used a carpet cleaning foam on the door panels and it cleans the cloth nicely: I like the look of cloth on the doors instead of plastic but there is a little extra care required to keep it looking nice

    Glossy review. I prefer the honesty of Edmunds. Not all civics have been that great over the years. Honda really got cheap with some models and the cars reflected that. Great that the engine may have a long life, but what good is it if the rest of the car is falling apart after 3 years of ownership. Honda keeps its problems very quiet. Such as the problem honda is having with the new 1.5 motor on some cars. Sorry, but the lanewatch is all wrong. There is nothing for the driver's side of the car. You have to look down at the screen instead of turning your head to view the side. This takes your eyes off of the road. Honda would do better to put a more traditional blind spot monitoring system on. Check out the one on the Mazda 3. It rocks. I am not a fan of the dash. Looks cheap like an arcade game. Gauges will last much longer. Wonder how much it will cost when those fancy readouts go.

    The Civic is impressive for all the reasons cited in the review. However, sometimes what seems to be a minor issue can be a deal breaker. In my case the back seat is my big dog's second home. And after a brisk run on a summer day, some way to get airflow to the back seat is a necessity. Without it, I'd have to give the Civic (or any vehicle) a pass.

    • @2004cyrus
      @2004cyrus 5 років тому +1

      Stephen Hendricks doesn’t it have ventilation ducks under both seats that pump air into the back? Mine does and I keep 2 fur babies in back as well. And I aim the 2 vents in the front middle toward the back. I open the windows on hot days to let the hot air out while the cool air is blowing too

    Whenever I see those tie fighter tail lights in traffic I get worried and my blood pressure goes up cuz I know something stupid is about to happen...usually I''ll get cut off, or it will break suddenly for no reason, or the driver is timid af and won't move, or blows thru stop signs or I'll get blasted by hip hop music. These are driven by the most annoying drivers ever! For me it's the VW GTI all the way.
