This one is more entertaining than the 2019 film

Everyone shits on this film but I've always enjoyed it. I think it's a blast and it's kind of creepy to me. The scene with Billy eating the cookies out of the mothers back with the milk made me so ill lol. Great review and love the intro man!

I think this movie is really good . I enjoy it, but what my problem is that Agnes kinda overshadow Billy because Billy was supouse to be the main killer ,but for me Agnes was just much much creepier than Billy

i absolutely loved the black christmas remake!!! One of the best remakes out there!!! Such a amazing cast of actors and actresses!!! Alot of well know actresses in this. It's one of the first horror movies i bought myself. I actually bought it right after it came out on dvd so worth it!!!

I completely agree with you! I absolutely HATED this film when I saw it in theaters back in 2006. But I've actually come around to enjoying it for what it is, a batshit crazy, gory slasher flick! It does not even compare to the original which is one of the best films ever made IMO.

Yeah well you would've hated Black Christmas (2019) it's way worse than 2006 the trailer ruined the film it took away the plot that why Black Christmas (2019) is ass.

I watched the original version yesterday for the 1st time ever and OMG. I can believe I've never seen this movie until now.
I have a thing about eyes so this was hard to watch. I enjoyed it a lot and still watch it, but I haven’t watched the originals so I can’t draw comparisons.

Well at least Black Christmas (2006) is like your hot chocolate with marshmallows with a candy cane in it with some Christmas cookies compare to Black Christmas (2019) which tastes like actual shit.

I still have to see both Black Christmases. I guess looking back at it when you watch horror all year round Christmas time was the only time I ever took a break from horror. That's got to be the reason for me missing all these movies

I actually love this movie. It's nowhere near as good as the original, not by a long shot. But it's a fun, entertaining slasher movie. I'd watch it all day, every day before I ever watch the 2019 version again. That one is a pathetic joke and makes this one look like a masterpiece in comparison. Merry Christmas, Lee! 🎄🎁

This is actually one of the better remakes. I didn't mind what they did with Billy, definitely better than Black Christmas 2019.

the 2006 remake of Black Christmas is only available on HD-DVD if I’m not mistaken as it deserves to be rereleased on BluRay by Scream Factory
Hey Drumdums, the black Christmas movie remake is definitely something to talk about, it’s actually very underrated in my personal opinion, not at all perfect or good. But it’s a good time, when you want to just put something in and let your mind off things. Plus the cinematography of this film is some of the best I’ve seen in a Christmas film or a lot of films to date. Kudos to the cinematographer of this film. Just like you, I LOVE the original, own multiple copies of the film on DVD, and Blu Ray, which it looks great on the scream factory film release. This film is very misunderstood and very underrated and hated at times. The first time I saw it I hated it, and also like you it grew on me. The cast in this film are pretty good, Mary Elizabeth Winstead is phenomenal. The Agnes storyline is really badshit crazy but I think that’s why I love it, no matter how bonkers it is. Bailey Wiley Great cast and excellent cinematographic! Black Christmas 2006 is underrated, my favorite thing about BC2006 is actually the background for Billy. From a random killer, Billy goes to stuff of urban legend and thats actually pretty cool. And the actor (Robert Mann) who played Billy did a good job. Its kind sad that he never got a famous career.

Great review! I am a huge fan of the original and the remake. I almost like the remake a lil better as I watch that one more than the original. Your right about the cast. Every actress in that movie was fantastic. I actually met Katie Cassidy at a comic con and she was so friendly as well as beautiful. I got her to sign my Black Xmas poster!

Are you talking about the Christmas horror genre? I LOVE these types of films. The BC remake is actually pretty solid, but it has it's problems for sure.

I agree, this is a fun little slasher. Creative kills. I enjoy Christmas Horror films. I guess because it's my favorite holiday, along with Halloween.

I watched this movie without any knowledge of the original one. So, i am not a hater on how it's not the same vibe that the original and etc. I really love the funny side of it, and the ''in your face'' fucked up scenes and story plot. For me it's a nice x-mas horror slasher. (But i have since seen the original and for me it's sooooo muchhhhhh a different vibe that i can watch both, depending on what vibe i wants. And i also get why it's such a classic!!!).
I’ve never understood the hate on this remake! To be honest I think it was a little before it’s time. The remake took its own little turn away from the original in its own way. If this type of movie came out today, i bet it would get much better reception.
I saw this movie when it came out on dvd and really did not like it at all, then afterwards heard about the original movie and decided to check it out and loved it so I'm grateful to the remake for that at least. Normally slasher films don't scare me but there's something about the original Black Christmas and of course John Carpenters Halloween that gets under my skin and scares the hell out of me.

Drumdums It's similar with Prom night for me. I love the original but hated the remake the first time I saw it but enjoy it now, granted it's different since the Prom Night remake is so different from the original, the original is clearly a million times better then the remake of for no other reason than Jamie Lee Curtis.

I need to track down this movie. It seems quite different than the original but it still seems entertaining. The fact that the Blu-Ray is out of print though is a bit disappointing, because I don't really buy much DVDs anymore. I may have to make an exception, I guess. Though, since I'm Canadian I might still be able to find a copy around here somewhere. As far as I know, the Halloween box set is out of print too and I got that not too long ago.
You can actually get it from Amazon Germany for about $15 but you might need a region free player. The DVD is only $6 on Amazon though.

I play all my movies on my Xbox One and I don't want to go buy a region free player. I heard the German version of the Blu Ray has the uncut version on it, but I don't really want a German copy. I'll probably get the uncut DVD.
Now that we have Black Christmas 2019, this version is a masterpiece by comparison. And the 1974 a God of horror cinema.

I finally saw this movie on Amazon Prime video and it was really darn good and I like the cast too in this movie Dana played by Lacey Chabert she does a great job as this character and she is so pretty and gorgeous too and I’m a fan of her now as a actress and also Heather Fitzgerald played by Mary Elizabeth Winstead she does a great job too as well and she is so beautiful and gorgeous too and I’m a fan of her every since Final Destination 3 2006 and she is a good actress too and Kelli Presley played by Katie Cassidy she does a great job too and she is so sexy as hell and she is so attractive women too and i became a huge fan of her every since When a Stranger Calls 2006 remake and she does a great job in these horror remakes too I love her too as a actress and Melissa played by Michelle Trachtenberg she did a great job too and she is so pretty and she was awesome in this movie and I been a fan of her since Cop Out 2010 and Lauren Hannon played by Crystal Lowe she does a excellent great job too and she is so sexy as hell and gorgeous too and I been a fan of her every since Wrong Turn 2 Dead End 2007 and she is a good actress and I love her to death too bro and she was also in Final Destination 3 too as well and Oliver Hudson was great too but he barely in the movie tho but he was still good when he was on screen and Billy Lenz played by Robert Mann he does a good job for playing this lunatic psychopath and he does a good job for playing this character and he is a interesting villain too in this movie and overall I’m gonna give Black Christmas 2006 remake a 10/10 stars I really did enjoy this remake for what it was and I like it better than the original movie for sure but that just me though in my opinions and thoughts on this movie drumdums brother
I really like this movie (And this is coming from someone who also likes the original) if you ask me Black Christmas 2006 is super underrated. This movie is so disgusting, insane and fucked up that i loved! A 12-year-old boy getting raped by his own mother? Dude.... WTF? I really like how they gave Billy a story/background, because from a totally random killer, Billy goes to stuff of urban legend and thats actually pretty cool (and i have to say, a guy who has jaundice and half of his face burn is really scary), And the actor who played Billy did a good job (I think the actor is named Robert Mann) that scene where he's watching the other families with the telescope and he sees how happy they are and Billy realizes how his mother stole his life and then he finally snap out. The facial expression and the look on the eyes that Billy does is very good. I dind't have a problem with Agnes i kind liked her as the killer too, but i think is weird that a dude (a actor) played Agnes (I was like this "Seriously? They didn't managed to hire a blonde hair gal to play Agnes as a adult? What the hell") and i like the cinematographic, the cast and the death scenes.
It took me a few viewings to really appreciate it. I still don't like Agnes as a character, but one can't deny that cast and the cinematography.

I also like this movie a lot - Really pissed I did not buy it on disc since it’s now impossible to find and commanding extremely high prices on eBay. Argh. The skin disease, disturbing backstory with his parents and the “Christmas cookies” (heh) Billy made, the creepy shots crawling inside the walls, And some good kills.
Based on what I’ve heard I will avoid the 2019 Black Christmas like the plague...
I've never seen the remake of Black Christmas hell I didn't even know that this was a remake to the original classic Black Christmas same goes to HALLOWEEN and HALLOWEEN II didn't realize that these were remake to the originals let's face it I was a kid back in 2006.
I still haven't seen the original, yeah I know shame, but just like the Friday remake, this version also reminded me of See No Evil. With the killer peeking through holes and the eye pulling. That outro actually got me by surprised. Lol. Drumdums made me jump.

i just thought about this Lee did you know that Amanda Seyfried was auditioned for the role for the lead role Kelli but the filmmakers said they didn't want two actress from Mean Girls [2004] in this movie and i wouldn't mind Amanda Seyfried either but Katie Cassidy still did a great job for this lead role though

Love the original, this one is just okay. The whole incestuous storyline grossed me out and it was eyeball gouge after eyeball gouge
The incest angle was necessary for the story, but it was pretty damn dark haha.

I did the same thing when I watched the remake. I love the original and I couldn't stop thinking about it. I compared it to the original and couldn't really enjoy it for that reason. After I went in with an open mind I enjoyed the remake a lot more.

It's funny to me because I actually saw the remake of "Black Christmas" first before I ever saw the original. And I actually really enjoyed the remake. A year or two ago, I finally was able to track down the original film & I couldn't stand it. I know it's a classic, no disrespect to those that do like it, I just could not get into it for whatever reason. I felt bored with it (&as a person with ADHD, it really didn't vibe with keeping my attention lol). This one, I never felt like I was bored or found myself getting distracted by anything outside of the film. Great review once again. :)
I've often wondered what my reaction would be to this film had I saw it before the original. Definitely give the original another shot...with the lights off and with good sound. The score is one of the creepiest parts of it. Plus it really was the first "modern" slasher film.
Drumdums I've definitely seen where people prefer remakes over originals cause they've seen them first. Same for me with "I Spit On Your Grave" actually as well, I liked the remake more than the original. I'll see if I can rent the original again & try again. I think maybe that's what took me away from it, was the audio too, it was inaudible at times & made it difficult to follow things.
i didn't know that you have to buy the Canadian blu ray for Black X-mas 2006 no USA version for our state i brought the DVD version since it one reason its was cheap and two reason i don' want to spend over $250 and i just order it from Amazon so i can have the movie finally and i will buy the original movie and the 2019 reboot version too so i can have all of the 3 Black Christmas movies and own them to my horror collection too and definitely looking forward to watch the original movie and the 2019 reboot version of Black Christmas too

The only reason that people are coming around to Black Xmas is because of that... other... remake that came out in 2019. That doesn't mean I'm a fan of this one.
I have "stabbing eyeball foibia". And this was so disturbing to me that I actually played a drinking game with a friend of mine just to get through it.

I've really debated with myself on whether or not to talk about 2019.
On one hand I hate that film with a burning passion, but on the other, I'd have to really dive deep into rant mode to rip that film a new one and I don't know if it's worth it. For now, it's a maybe.
I believe that the 2006 remake is unforgiving and is filled to the brim with sordid next level disgusting abhorrent nasty stuff incest is one of them for all I know
I agree if you judge this film on it's own it's actually decent but there are problems! First most of the back story should have been removed from the movie and Agnes should not have been trying to help Billy kill the teenagers! If Billy was the only killer the film would have worked better and I really wish they would have used the alternate ending where both Kelli and Leigh are in the hospital and Kelli gets a call from I believe Kyle's phone and the film ends and I think that would have been the better ending! The Dialog is not bad but I do feel there could be more build up to some deaths and the acting is alright but some characters give better performances than others! I like Black Christmas 2006 but there was room for improvement but I enjoy watching it every year!
Yep completely agree. They have waaaayyy too much back story...and Agnes was the most annoying killer I've ever seen.
I watched this one before i watched the original one, and i did not liked it i thought it was a big mess specially with that Agnes twist the end, i did not liked that yellow skin thing and i thought for myself"enough of black christmas to me, if the original is like this one i will not see it", many years have passed since than and some days ago i had nothing to watch so i watched the original and i really loved it, i really want the Halloween 2018 thing with that one it would be so great , another remake would be nice too but without Billy's back story and showing only his eye is enough for me

I just watched this and i absolutely hate this movie ! No doubt one of the worst remakes and horror movies ever. Opening kill and some of the billy's back story was good ill give credit for that but i hated everything else about this movie. The original is one of the best horror movies ever been made. Its creepy, psychological and intelligent horror movie but this 2006 remake was just awful but great review like always Lee

Finally, I decided to watch this remake...I think it's very bad...the plot is so stupid and all the characters are unlikeable. I couldn't wait for it to end...the original is so good and atmospheric...the only thing I liked about it is the cast&cinematography. Not gonna watch it again.
