I also agree about the music. A big part of this is that back in that era, they used analog synthesizers. Later on, digital synth took over. But a lot of us realize that when we hear the older analog synth, it’s the best!
Love Halloween II. My second favorite in the franchise right after the original. I always watch Halloween and Halloween II as a double feature every Halloween night. It's become a tradition.
I've done the same over the last few Halloweens. It's such an awesome experience.
Watched the first two with my mom in 82 after trick or treating. Watched it every year since. Even when I moved away for school, we'd call each other every Halloween, "Hey, you got Myers on? Call me when it's done." Sadly, she passed away in 2010, but I kept up the tradition...haven't missed since 82. One way I keep her with me. Cheers.

When I was a kid, I saw "Halloween 2" in the theater. I liked it so much, after it was over, I stayed and watched it again.
Continuing the story on the same night was great.

Most bad ass Myers moment is when he walks right through the sliding glass doors and they shatter like he was made out of steel or something...simply amazing!

The higher body count and added gore makes sense to me from a story perspective in Halloween II. In the first movie, he was getting back into killing people after escaping the sanitarium and now during the rest of the night he’s having some fun with it while going after Laurie. He was stalking Annie, playing games with Lynda, staring quizzically at bodies he just killed, and seemed like he was killing while also studying his own evil. Once Loomis shot him and Laurie pulled at his mask, we get the angrier Myers doing what he does - walking right up to people and killing them just like Judith when he was a little boy. This also fits with how Dick Warlock played Myers as a more stoic and robotic Shape because Myers is done studying and getting the hang of this again and he’s more of a purely evil force gliding and being an unstoppable killer.
I think the added violence also helps the audience empathize with Laurie a bit more while she’s mostly in bed throughout the movie because we’re seeing all the terrible things that could happen to her if Michael arrives.
Anyway, marathoning these Revisited videos while anticipating Halloween Kills and the new 4K 1-5 releases next month, October always flies by so I’m starting early 🎃 🔪
Halloween 2 is my favorite Halloween film. It PERFECTLY connects with the first movie, more action, Dick Warlock played Michael Myers great, the music is great, added Halloween mythology (school scene), added brother sister reveal. To me this is a masterpiece. This is like the first Halloween movie with steroids. It’s a shame the new Halloween movie will ignore this sequel.
Strange thing is Nick Castle also appeared in H2 but as a cop at the beginning.

I remember back when I was marathoning Friday the 13th, I was getting really exhausted with those movies and so I figured: what the hell, I'll watch Halloween and Halloween 2 for the first time. And damn, I couldn't take my eyes off the screen the whole time.
This may not be a popular opinion, but I think these movies work best together, the cliffhanger at the end of the first one just felt like they were cutting the story off without a real ending. I love the way this one ends.

I have a older brother and whenever we talk about Halloween, he always metions how he saw Halloween 2 as a kid and it still gives him nightmares.

I just saw Halloween II for the first time (I’m marathoning all the Halloween films leading up to the 2018 “remake”) and man oh man did it surprise me. One of the better horror sequels I’ve seen, and I’m shocked I enjoyed it so much. The “Hot Tub” and “Blind Myers” sequences were epic.
For me personally this is my favorite entry in the while series always been my favorite Michael, just the creepiest movie overall

I still gotta go with 1 but H2 is my 2nd favorite. This is the Myers I would not wanna run into the most. I don't see the attraction people have for Halloween 4 Myers isn't scary in it the mask is goofy it feels more like a spoof movie but hey each is own

I've always felt like Halloween 78 Micheal is just learning what he can do and in Halloween 2 he's evolved into a more savage and sadistic killer , like the fact that the first movie , they didn't show blood becouse Micheal was more of a stalker killer , but in Halloween 2 he realized he can't really be hurt and he became more creative
vicious and sadistic with his kills , just kinda seems like his natural progression as a killer. So the difference between 78 and Halloween 2 really seems like how a killer would evolve

I agree with you about the pacing though & Jamie Lee Curtis isn't given a lot to do until the third act.
Awesome third act though possibly the best in the series, tense, suspenseful & chillingly atmospheric.
Halloween 2(1981) still holds up as a brilliant sequel. The only charicter that gets on my nerves in this film is Bud. Everyone else is ok. The trailer is one of the better trailers I've seen.

I also REALLY LOVE the theme for Halloween ll and I think it's a GREAT film because of the creative script and it gets right into that horror movie plot and stands out as a Scary instalment in the franchise.

For me, this is a more exciting movie than original. Hospital atmosphere is great. It’s more even-paced than original. The first half of original is excellent build-up but upon rewatches, the final half doesn’t live up. H2 has some excellent stalk sequences even if there are some “filler” kills

I have to say the scene where nurse Jill gets attacked was the saddest part of the whole movie. She was way too beautiful, and we all loved her.
I can't figure out how Dr Loomis survived that explosion.

Actually John Carpenter wasn't given a huge check for this movie. What happened was John was supposed to make "The Fog" with Irwin Yablans but another company stepped in and offered John more money to make it with them, and Irwin decided to sue John and they settled out of court if John would write and almost direct Halloween 2 with Irwin's company I believe it's Trancas International. So I believe that's another reason why John kinda half ass wrote the script for this movie with a 6 pack of beer which sucks because I personally love this movie a small bit more than the original because of its 3rd act, it's the best of the entire series. Great review and great content as always

I do love the look of the bloody tears on his mask at the end. Badass shit. Dick Warlock's only flaw was the walk he had, but great movie and definitely a great Michael Myers.

On every alternate day, this is my favorite Halloween film. However, I like to look at it like The Godfather II of horror. When I watch Halloween I always watch II afterwards.
Great review buddy!!! I love Halloween 2 and it's definitley one of the best in the series. In my opinion, this movie has the creepiest atmosphere out of the whole series mostly because it takes place in an empty hospital.
The original is my favorite,but Halloween 2 is right up there with it.
Completely agree. The creep factor is definitely cranked up a few notches in 2. Myers really seems like a walking corpse in it.
H2 '81 is the best sequel, most of the same people from H1 (Carpenter, Hill, and especially Dean Cudney) were part of it and were able to continue the timeline immediately after the first since the actors had not aged that much. It made much more sense than any of the later sequels. The Shape became obsessed with Laurie since she is the one who got away. Those he killed in the hospital were basically people who got in his way and needed to silence them to keep his location secret . The Shape needed to operate under the cover of Halloween and be in the shadows to satisfy his sadistic needs. There really should not have been a sequel at all, but since there was going to be one this one is about the best way to have done it. I would have liked them to continue the Anthology series. H3 had a better return on investment than H4, 5 and 6.
This is a really awesome review you've done here. Halloween 2 is my second favorite film after the original Halloween. I agree with you about the Halloween 2 theme being better than the original Halloween theme. It's my favorite of all the Halloween themes. I also really love the look of the mask in Halloween 2. To me it looks even more sinister than it did in the original.

Yeah it shows because I've watched a few of them now and they've all been excellent. I love how you mix information about the film with your own personal thoughts on the film itself. For people who may not know a lot about the making of the film that you're reviewing, that's really great. I personally am one of those people who tends to eat up every bit of information that I can find about a film that I really love. I'll sit there and listen to commentaries and watch the documentaries etc.

Great Video! Halloween II is my favorite horror sequel. I get where some people find fault in it and it does have a couple problems, but the good far outweighs the bad. It's so well shot, the lighting is phenomenal. I think Warlock is creepy as all hell as Myers. Like you said, the third act is absolutely thrilling. I actually like the added gore, because it makes this one different than the original instead of just rehashing the first, and it certainly adds a lot to the Myers legacy story wise with the Brother/Sister angle.
Yes...the good FAR outweighs the bad. It has an ultra creepy Myers, dark and moody setting, great kills, and a killer 3rd act.

Halloween 4 is definitely my next one for the franchise. Sinister 2 is an interesting one. I remember reviewing that one and hating my audio haha.

I know I said this before but Halloween 2 is absolutely and positivity one of the greatest movies in the franchise as it's such a excellent sequel on so many levels. The concept and theme was more darker, eerie, spooky, frightening, mysterious, thrilling, haunting, suspenseful, and creepier than the original 😰😱 which works perfectly for the movie. It was such a nail-biting and intense thrill ride as it kept me on the edge of my seat. 😰😱 It was decent. To this day I still watch it and I consider it a classic. It never gets old.😍😎💯👍
Fun fact: here in Germany Halloween II and III were confiscated for over 20 years. It was almost impossible to get them. Just last year, they were re-released uncut and I was able to watch them for the first time! They became my favorite Halloween films of all time! Especially Season of the witch! I just love the atmosphere and early 80s vibe...

Recently picked up Halloween two on Blueray! Also rewatched Rob Zombies Halloween two! Enjoyed it more this time. Don't think I gave it a fair shake the first time. Still not big on the dream sequences. Kill scenes were awesome!! Whoever played M. Myers NAILED IT! Peace!

One of the most underrated horror sequels.
Halloween II is an interesting movie to me because out of all the sequels, it's the one I watch the most, and yet it's also the one I've started to find the most problems with. Tone wise, it connects perfectly with first movie. Myers still feels brutal, and it makes sense that he would be slower after getting shot six times and falling out a balcony as well as balancing that human and supernatural sense to him. The hospital works as a creepy setting and the long hallways and shadows give it an almost German expressionism vibe to it.
I love Halloween 2. I go back and forth a lot actually with which I like better between Halloween 2 and the original. I also want to add that I love Halloween 4 and I watch those 3 together as the ultimate Halloween trilogy. The opening of the original and the ending of Halloween 4 bookend the trilogy perfectly and for different reasons. Halloween 2 is just such a blast and it's the one I've seen the most. Wonderful atmosphere. I love the dark, quiet hospital. I think it's Donald Pleasence's best performance as Dr. Loomis as well.

I think this is my favorite Halloween tbh. I love the use of the song, Sandman at the beginning and end. At the end it just feels so ominous, in a good way.
There are elements of it that are so unique and outshine the original, so it's hard to disagree. It certainly has a quality that the future sequels lack.
More Revisited reviews, hell yeah!!! Last Halloween I did a marathon of horror movies, but only watched Halloween I, II and III. Something tells me that after revisited reviews I may get to watch the rest of the franchise.

Halloween II was one of the only Halloween films where someone's death wasn't from being killed by Michael with Ben Tramer dying from a combination of being hit by a police car and getting set on fire. Halloween 4 also had Ted Hollister get shot by one of the drunk guys who were trying to find and kill Michael. He was one of the 3 lads who wore Michael masks to scare Loomis, Meeker, Rachel and Jamie.
Good review, and very good sequel. With Return, it's my favorite Halloween sequel. I think that this one is really well made horror film, despite some behind the scenes problems, and it sure as hell looks great thanks to Dean Cundey. And yes, TV version can be a fun watch if you are fan, but to me it's just like TV version of The Thing, an interesting but lousy cut of the film.
Yeah Cundey was definitely the secret weapon that made this movie look great.
I love Halloween 2 the only thing that was missing from that movie was Michael Myers breathing and grunting when he kills people

H2 is my favorite sequel and sometimes my favorite of all of them. My mind changes between H1 and H2. H2 is the reasons why I hate hospitals today. But, I cherish this franchise minus RZ's.

Great Sequel Halloween 2 and ending was the best of the Franchise I love the climax and your right About Jamie Lee Curtis she doesn't have much to do but she did get attacked so it made sense

Halloween 6 5 and 2 are my favorite sequels in this order.
Halloween II was the first Halloween movie I saw in the Theatre in Tampa, Florida. I was 8 years old and it scared the crap out of me. I loved it and I still hold it close to my heart bc of that.
I agree that u cannot watch Halloween without watch part 2 as well. It was a great bookend to the series. I love how the mood stays the same and how the movie expands the night he came home.
Aliens was a great sequel and to me Halloween II is another great sequel.

Yeah talk about the PERFECT double feature. I even made my own "Halloween: The Whole Bloody Night" cut that combines the 2 and removed the unnecessary conclusion from the first that's at the beginning of 2.

Seeing that footage from the film at the beginning makes me jealous because it's in a proper widescreen aspect ratio. The version we got on DVD over here was in a 4:3 ratio so I've never seen this film in the way it was originally intended. Based on that footage you showed it looks nicely cleaned up too.
What?! Wow bro I didn't know that. 2:35 is the only way to watch Halloween 2, and it flows much better with the first in that way. I used the Universal disc for the source, as opposed to the SF disc. The Uni disc keeps the grain in tact and feels more natural.

I love watching 1 & 2 together like Rocky 1 & 2. I loved the new Halloween, but I was gutted this one was deleted from the canon so to speak. But I understand why they the new movie makers wanted to cut the sister part from it. Great review mate

Halloween II is my personal favorite Halloween sequel and my favorite Horror sequel overall. I always watch it immediately after watching the first. I loved the hospital atmosphere, and the soundtrack is absolutely fantastic.

Late 50's early 60's my friends and I were all warned by our parents not to take any fruit or unwrapped candy on Halloween because there were incidents of razor blades being put into apples and plums.

Halloween 2 1981 is my second Halloween movie, I love the atmosphere, the only thing I hate is the scene with the security guard.
I've always liked Halloween 2, never have liked that wig on Laurie's head though, lol.
But for some reason over the last year, Halloween 2 has been my go to movie to put on just to have something playing in the background. And, I'll usually be hearing it, and get caught up into watching it again.
A little side note, Karen's friend Darcy , that she has to take home before she goes to work was in Prom Night , she was the mean, nasty girl Wendy. As a kid, I had just got a new puppy the night we watched Prom night, and I loved the way the character Wendy looked, so I named my puppy Wendy, lol.

Will always be my favorite sequel. It feels so much like the original you can watch them back to back and the average movie watcher would think they are watching the same movie
