Yeah see that's the problem with fad boy types like this. Nobody buys this stuff for "muh colors" to make poorly framed daytime hipster shots. They were originally and still are used by lowlight photographers. Capturing baseball and football action in stadium, concerts, nighttime cityscapes, and photojournalists in adverse lighting environments with fast lenses. I used it regularly for hockey and baseball 10 years ago with Canon 200mm f2.0 and 70-200 f2.8 at press conference events.
@@kefkapalazzo1 lol honestly. If you drink, I suggest going to a camera meet up, having a couple of beers, and just talk to the people there. That's how I met grainy days and got to shoot his beer camera. 😂
I was going to comment before I realized how old the video is. It's not just shooting 1600 ISO in the sun, but paying $70.00 a per roll to do. Such waste.
I really liked what vuhlandes said in his video today about these point and shoot pictures looking like memories, that definitely rings true in this video. Amazing as always!
$70 rolls of 1600 ISO film should have been used in low light settings or very fast moving objects to understand the reason the film is rated at 1600. Outdoors with the sun up around 4 - 5 pm in the late afternoon would have been the time to to use 100 ISO film stock. JS
@@atalante1319 The higher ISO Number on film is made for low light situations and/or fast moving subjects. The trade off is the higher ISO Number the more grain on the negative. I remember wanting to shoot this at about 11 dollars a roll, and thinking it was too expensive then the very next week they discontinued it and the prices skyrocketed even higher.
Not being a hater- I love your videos! But whyyyyy did you guys waste this film with point & shoots & shooting in bright daylight 🤯 would love to see this shot at night!
Wild, you're walking through the neighborhood I grew up in! I've gone on so many photo walks there over the course of my life it's really interesting to see the scenes you pull out of the area.
Wound past a frame (manual fixed lens thing) and wastes a shot of 120 trying to shoot a classic car that was in front of me on the highway. Didn't get the shot, dangerous, and the car turned off almost immediately after I realised I'd lost the frame.
Great video, I love this film and would definitely love to see it be resurrected. Agree it is definitely not worth $70, I bought 5 roles before the price spiked and have a few left that I'm saving. Would say some a handful of my favorite photographs I've ever made are on Natura, and specifically they are some candid portraits which is what I think this film works best for (personally). Pushed portra to me just doesn't quite get there for me but could be I just haven't figured out the colors.. too much red.
Sometimes I wonder what is the point of shooting color negative film over digital if you're gonna drastically alter the look of said film in post anyway... Why shoot a specific (70 dollar !) roll of film if you're gonna make it look like Portra or Velvia in the end ? Apart from the experience of film in general, of course (uncertainty, slower process, and all that). I mean, do whatever floats your boat, but I don't really see the point, no offense to you guys.
Verbeeck, Vuhlandes, Fuji Natura 1600. Can it get any better? Only if they will produce this again and sell it NOT JUST IN JAPAN! When I started again with analog photography, this one wasn’t that rare and affordable, nevertheless an expansive film. But i thought, yeah I will try it when my skills are trained... and then it was gone😣
just gotta ask why yall didn't shoot nighttime. or at least golden hour.. i feel like your not using the 70 dollars worth of film. to me it feels like buying a 1.2 lens and stopping down to 2.8. Love you guys, no trash talk. Just a real question. I'm guessing it was due to time constraints
From the point of view of someone that stopped using film more than 15 years ago and was regularly spending the equivalent in today’s money for specialised film.... you should have just thrown the money in the thrash can and saved the time and energy. You totally missed the purpose of that kind of film, it’s expensive because it can be abused and still maintain an acceptable level of grain, in the old days you were keeping a couple of those films in the bag as a sort of contingency just in case, a bit like keeping a condom in the wallet just in case you scored; on other occasions those films were used as an artistic choice. Going out for a stroll in the golden hour it surely was fun, however you should have gone for the blue hours and pushed the film a couple of stops, then you would have appreciated the 70 box price tag whilst broadening your knowledge of films stock.
