  • Just a little something to brighten my day. Every time I see the honeysuckles I think back to being a kid. I remember picking blackberries and carrying them in my shirt or hat. Anything that was handy and eat them all day long. Brings back some good memories I can call on when the world feels like it's getting out of hand.

Just a park access road but it is a nice park. Spend quite a bit of time there throughout the year. Fishing, walking the miles of trails even a couple fresh water ponds. Just a few minutes from the house. About another week or so might even grab a few blackberries on the way. Picked and eaten a lot as a kid. Thanks. Steve

To have a nice place like this to visit so close to home re-centers me. A couple hours fishing, watching the eagles, herons etc.and smelling the honeysuckle works wonders. Thanks. Steve

We had a whole lot of tree damage here but not much else. Took weeks to clear everything. They had a dumping location at Point of Rocks Park. The baseball field parking lot was just a huge mountain of wood. It did a lot of damage on Pocahontas Island in Petersburg. I was at work at Allied when it hit. Had no trouble at all in Hopewell that I remember. Rough time with that little one. I just couldn't imagine like they get out in the mid west. Thanks. Steve

That's a nice bush. I don't see many of those around here. Just not real popular around here. Humming birds seem to like them but the deer generally don't. Picked a lot of blackerries as a kid. Had an empty field/sand lot behind us they grew in. Never had the wine we just ate them off the vine, but knew a guy that made elderberry wine. Thanks. Steve

I haven't picked blackberries since i was a kid. Now i wouldn't know where to find them. I haven't seen any in the wild. I'm going to look harder now that i have the time.

If they ain't blooming or have berries I couldn't find them myself. They just started blooming around here so they stick out real good. Growing wild all over the place. Haven't had any myself in a couple years but plan to get a hat full to bring home when they start producing. Picked and ate a bunch of them as a kid. Thanks. Steve
