I just found out about your channel, and I gotta say: this is probably the most comprehensive and straightforward explanation of the GPUs and their differences, super clear, I went with the 7900 GRE myself (550 euros), the 7900 XT was a bit too expensive for the FPS gain (150 more euros), and I don't mind changing graphic settings in the future (3-5 years from now) if I need the game to perform well. I was checking the 4070 Ti Super but I found way too expensive, and the 4070 is only 12GB VRAM, which I'm not sure how well will perform with the games that will launch in the next 5 years... My friend got the 7900 XT and we're both super happy for now!
Unpopular point : Older games had better mirrors and reflections compared to ray traced reflections today, have you noticed the mirrors? I am amazed how a new technology pushed something that matured so well to the stone ages.
That was smoke and mirrors ( pun intended ) that would be too costly if applied to any and all reflective surfaces in wide open spaces. Might've have worked for the bathroom mirrors in a level back then, but not now in an open world.
@@SogonD.Zunatsu it can be applied to A LOT but yeah not every reflective surface. That would be extremely demanding Screen Space Reflections are starting to be added to general reflections which are amazing at reflections and there's still zero raytracing and they're very easy to run. Although I still think every mirror should be the old camera technique since it works, looks even better than SSR and will be used in pretty few instances (not a whole lotta mirrors in one place in any game) so it's not much demand
@TheSpawnTrapper I don't think so. But if you purchased it during the time, your codes should work until the end of September. I was a little worried that I wouldn't have time to redeem it after purchasing it.
In the end all that matters is that it does what you need/want it to and is within your budget. 4090's are useless as are any other cards over that $500 price point. The extra just isn't justified for the little you gain. 70 series Nvidia, 770 series from Intel and x700 series from AMD are all gamers need. Everything else is just window dressing and immature bragging ammo.
@animalyze7120 I only got it because I compared it to the recommended specs that the games I play asked for. The Casting Of Frank Stone and Directive 8020 both ask for either NVidia 3070 or AMD 6800 for recommended specs. Do you think that was the right choice?
This chart has amazing info. Im about to build pc for my co-worker. She is upgrading from GTX 1660 to RTX 4060 ti 16gb. Thank so much for game performance info i needed, thx to u, i can honestly say she will be very happy about upgrade she is getting.
@@dededede9257 yeah buddy i remember it too, i had a 1050ti, but i also want to play some new games so you can continue crying about it or just make some money and get yourself a nice new GPU or even better go touch grass, save some money and live your life!
@@Davinmk less power consumption and DLSS I’ll take that offer, you can pretty much play any game on 4060 at 1440p DLSS quality at 60+ fps, try to do it on 6600…
I though about upgrading my 5700 XT for a couple of months and none of the new GPUs were good value in my eyes. I live in Europe so most 7800 XTs were 500-600 euros and anything better had crazy pricing. So I decided to find a used card and were looking mostly at 6900/6950XTs because they still pack a punch. Found the cheapest one in Europe for 450 euros and it was working, but someone had used their computer as a vacuum cleaner and it was full of caked on dust. After spending 2 hours disassembling it, replacing the thermal paste and mostly just cleaning it, I got it working perfectly. I couldn’t be happier. I got a 7900 XT equivalent for almost half the price.
@@peacekillerz I've seen videos posted of 7900 GRE having unbearably loud coil whine. The worst I've ever heard, like a banshee screeching. Its a crapshoot whether you get one with this problem. 6900 XT and 6950 XT, reference cards had coil whine because of bad input filtering. AIB partners like MSI and ASRock fixed this. Then undervolt, FPS cap, use a good power supply, problem solved.
I game in 1440p and the 5700XT still holds up fantastically. I can run most newer games at ultra settings with no issues. First game I really had to tweak settings on was Wukong because of the FSR only option.
If you even think about getting into streaming go with Nvidia as you'll have superior streaming quality. If gaming is your only concern, then go with AMD at the low to mid range, Nvidia on the high end.
I would personally still choose the 7900 GRE over the 4070 Super, because of overclocking and the performance gain a 7900 GRE has there. Plus, the RT performance would not be enough for me either way at that point. So I mostly ignore it
don't chose it bcs of performance cause it's the same and sometimes super is better . It's the vram that makes 7900 gre more worth the buy tbh . If 4070 super had 16gb and would be of the same price as it is today(50 usd more than gre in my country) I would buy that without any issue but nvidia I don't understand why they would not give 16gb vram
@@Innosos power efficiency in 4070 super covers up the price difference between the both GPUs tbh . Nvidia really made a good move by making 4000 series very power efficient
@@Fronioll9973 overclocking on the 7900 GRE can give a big performance increase. I think Daniel Owen and hardware unboxed had a 10% improvement in performance. If you don't overclock I agree with you. But if you do the 7900 GRE is a better GPU Edit: I think the 7900 GRE sometimes won against the 4070ti in hardware unboxed testing of overclocking
@@Innosos yeah that is a good reason to go with the 4070 super. I also personally try undervolt everything. But the 4070 Super is also probably the better option for most people. Just not for me
If I lived in US I think 4070 Ti Super was a good value for price but since I'm not and 4070 Ti Super is 1200$ in my region so I decided to be happy with my 3070 Ti 😅
@@reijhinru1474 The 4070 Super is not a significantly better value than the 4070 ti Super. The extra vram definitely adds value on the 4070 ti Super. They are both relatively good value graphics cards. Personally I'd recommend that people go with the 7800 XT, which is a fair bit cheaper than even the RTX 4070 Super, even though it's actually better in some ways, with the additional vram definitely being something which will become increasingly more useful over the next few years.
For me, it was the 7900 XT (AUD$1099) vs the 4070 Super (AUD$950 - $1049). I was upgrading from the 6700 XT. I went with an upper tier 4070 Super, the Gigabyte 4070 Super OC Gaming for (AUD$1049). While I'm somewhat disappointed with just 12GB of RAM, I'm very please with the 1440p performance on AAA single player games. I'm sure I would have been just as happy with the 7900 XT.
@@animalyze7120 Definitely not a joke. I regret spending what I did. I was saving up for RDNA 4 or RTX 50 series. But I also wasn't happy that I didn't have any RT.
same, bro. and realistically, we can't buy the 5080 at msrp until a year after launch anyway. so that couple of months will end up being a 1.5 year wait. lol.
If you're looking for a cheap GPU, you just can buy gtx 1070 or even 1080 for only $30-40, they are performing like rtx 3050. Yes without DLSS buy you still can have fsr and it's much cheaper.
I bought a second hand ASUS Dual RTX 4070 SUPER for £404 last week and after undervolting and overclocking it's giving me a perfect experience that will probably keep me happy for 3+ years :)
@@fabrb26 When you're shopping in the $200-220 range you automatically expect to adjust settings right out of the box. I would obviously recommend anyone who possibly can to save up the last $70 and get a 6700XT. But to some people $70 more can be a struggle.
I got myself a used 3080 Ti last week for ~440$. it's a way faster card than any in the price range. Really happy with it, and the VRAM is enough for 1440p. It'll do until the new generation, will see about the prices then.
Well done, I did similar here in UK 1 month ago... Asus RoG Strix 3090 OC 24GB used for £585 Even if we wait for 50 series the prices and power usage will be ridiculous and scalpers will cause stock issues for new 50 series cards which will again drive up used prices for high end 30 and 40 series cards - we both made the right choice now buying used high end before 50 series launch.
It'll do for 3-4 generations as all Nvidia/AMD cards are. RTX was the exception due to the Ray tracing craze that offered literally nothing. 2000 series cards will be fine till 5000 series pop. However if you like what the neighbors always have by all means chuck $500-$1000 every year into the fireplace, as long you are ok with it then it's perfectly fine.
I got An Asus TUF RTX 4070 Ti Super OC for $600 marketed as an open box, it was used only 1 month, it runs like a charm! at stock, but i undervolted it+overclocked... maaaan im fucking happy with this device!
I'm sure there's someone or many people like me who are perpetually looking to upgrade their GPU or CPU. So I just wanted to say, I appreciate these videos.
And when they release another game that you think requires a faster card you just keep dropping $600 to play a $40 title? Critical thought is lost on this community for sure.
I told myself I would only upgrade to another xx80 series card from my 1080Ti . I just managed to find a dirt cheap 4080 mint refurb prebuild and added a cheap open box Alienware 360Hz 27" QD OLED so I am set for a long time.
@@patozarantonello8572 depends, in ray tracing and if you like to play in 4k in story games etc, the 4080 super seems to be superior, but if you want to just achieve high fps in games such as Call Of Duty, Overwatch, Valorant, etc. the rx7900 xt seems to be on the same level as the 4080 super, for 400$ less at least here in europe, if you like to game at 1080p or 1440p, get the 7900xt and you can pair it with the amd 7800x3d with the money you saved, or get a nice monitor.
As hard as it is to wait, agree to wait for the RTX 50 series. I was planning on buying a Gaming System with a Rysin 7800 X3D and a RTX 4900, but the RTX 5080 from what I read performs as good or better than the RTX 4090 and hopefully at a lower price point as you mentioned. I will limp along with my i5 and 1080 combo. I rarely upgrade but when I do, I prefer to upgrade close to the top as to keep the system for 5 to 8 years.
$600 for 12 gb and recommending it, I dunno about that one chief. I would def go for a 7900 gre instead of a 4070 super since it has 16 gb. Even though it loses in ray tracing, I find it better value and performance as some games are already reaching 12 gb vram usage. In 1 or 2 years those 12 gbs will be a hindrance. The only way I could recommend a super is if someone has helicopter money and can upgrade every generation.
Games are already starting to implement some level of RT in basic settings, we saw that with Black Myth Wukong how even a $1000 7900xtx was losing to $300-500 Nvidia cards terribly
@@seaneriksen2695 You don't, cuz those already run extremely well for either of those GPUs. It's common knowledge and common sense to why people mainly talk about RT, it's the high end "exclusive" feature that someone would consider.
Yep a fool and their money soon separated. If you are paying 2x's the cost of the previous series you should be getting 2x's the performance but you are not, more like 20-25% gains for the extra money. 80 series and 90 series are sold to gamers but the prices don't justify the lack of performance over the 70 series. If you are filthy rich then it's no big deal but just being able to afford doesn't equate to paying double for 1/4 gains.
The Sparkle Arc A770 with 16gb Vram is a solid $300 card. Currently you can get a 12600kf 16gb ram and a z790 MB with this card for $499 from microcenter, the deal is uneatable. A770 16gb plays everything at 1080 pretty much full out with no hiccups, and 2k is solid at High settings. The drivers are updated regularly and they dial everything in better with each update. Intel cards started rough but are now polished and rocking the $300 arena. If you are on a budget this Microcenter deal is well worth the investment and will perform super well.
I'm going to upgrade from a 3080ti to a 4090 this week. Playing at 3840x1600 so it should keep me happy for another two years until I do a new full system build.

@@MrAnimescrazy not at this time. I already have a Dark Hero running the 5800x with 32 GB RAM set to the fastest it will go. Next PC I build I will go all out again with whatever is new then.
I personally consider the best bang for the buck to be 7900 GRE and 4070 Super, but there are still some decent options lower, for sure. My 7800 XT works fine most of the time and 4070 itself is not horrible. Thumbs up!
I think, correct me if this is incorrect, but 4090 i.e., Nividia cards only have DP 1.4a. The 7900 XTX has DP 2.1 that with a 16k cable can do 240 Hz 4K natively. I am currently running 7680 by 2160 at 240 Hz. It's glorious!
Had to go 3090* cause I was still running a 1st run i7-860 overclocked dry at 3.3 for 12 years now, and needed the rest of the computer upgrade too. Otherwise 4090 feels like a "1st gen flagship" in terms of new features and pricing sweet point. People's money is drying up but it seems like the time to take advantage of anyone who is skipping 40 series when those get to be the cards going into the clearance cabinet. Not buying video game consoles does wonders for your patience upgrading your GPUs.
Best gpus to get rn are used ones unless ur going for gpus above 500$ range cuz low end cards and mid range ones are a joke u can u get used 3080 for a price of 4060 Ti. And in my country 3080 used costs 50$ less than a new 4060 Ti
for the 200 dollar and below category.... dont sleep on a used 1080 or 2070 super; they both beat the 3050(no raytracing on the 1080, but actually gets superior performance in older titles compared to 3050). as for the 6600, the 1080 is usually slower, but often hits between 75%-105% of the performance, game specific. 1080 in particular tends to go on for pretty cheap, so dont sleep if you're poor.
In my region everything last gen above the 6650xt either dried up or ridiculously overpriced and 7700xt was barely discounted from launch. So basically everything under 7800xt is just trash value.😊
Yeah true, but honestly I’d pick the RTX 4080 super over the RX 7900XTX. That said I put my money on a 7900 GRE. Didn’t want to spend more. It has 16Gb with the memory OC update more then enough Ram speed. And it’s still an 7900 in terms of rasterization.
I just found an amazing deal in the UK. £655 for the Asus TUF 4070ti Super 16GB from Very with 20% code. Also £55 cashback from Asus, and £25 if you leave a review. There is no way that 5000 series will be a better deal than that.😁
Thank you for reassuring me, that for my price range of 450 to 550, either RX 7800 xt or RX 7900 GRE are viable options. I am very split on which of both to choose and I am tending to the GRE
I bite the bullet and bought Zotac RTX 4070 ti super a couple weeks ago for my 1440p gaming. It can runs CP2077 90fps with Path tracing undervolted no issue.
"Next gen is coming soon..." heard so many times ...last one was 3 months ago when I get a 4080s....and still hearing those words :D.... in few months we'll get a 5080 for 1500$ or more, no way NVidia will give 4000 series away if they're still selling...
I dont plan to upgrade within the next 5+ years, so for my situation the 7900xtx is the way better choice with its 24GB of VRAM over the 4080 super and its 16GB which will run into a wall way sooner.
Same here. Besides black myth wukong has just kicked the best rt cards in the balls right now as even a 4080 or 4090 cant handle those workloads properly without help.
While you are technically right (if you are looking at this situation from a certain angle), it will not necessary end up like this. One of the most VRAM demanding setting is RT. 7900 XTX can run many games with RT now, but in the not so distant future it will not be able to do this. So you will actually need less VRAM, once you stop using RT. In 3-4 years even the owners of 4080 will be forced to stop using RT. And by that time 4K res will be out of question for both of these cards too. This means that VRAM requirements will go down again, since lower res needs less VRAM. Judging by how demanding modern games are in terms of raw GPU power, I really think it will become a bottleneck sooner than VRAM capacity, especially if we talking about 16GB buffer.
@@stangamer1151 The new star wars game can use up to 18-22GB VRAM in 4k already..I dont think its 3-4 years for the 4080 to be at its VRAM limit. If thats the case it no RT for both cards in the near future. Then I still prefer having more VRAM since I can play modded games with texture mods that far exceed 16 GB already and generally games are not gettign smaller texture-wise.
@@Greenalex89 SW Outlaws is NOT essentially using 18-22GB. It is just allocating all the available VRAM on a card (this is how Snowdrop engine functions) More important is the fact that this and many other modern games are very demanding in terms of raw GPU power. 4080 is simply not fast enough to run SWO at 4K/maxed out, even with DLSS Quality. And when you reduce/disable some settings, VRAM requirement also lowers. Plus, yesterday's patch (v1.1.1) has already improved the game memory management. Now even 12GB cards do not struggle from texture pop-in issues at 1440p. So 16GB is definitely enough to run this game at 4K and reasonable quality settings. P. S. Judging by how demanding some recent games are, all 16GB cards will run out of compute power way before their VRAM buffers become an issue.
@@benknapp3787 Exactly! I was very willing to make the change to AMD, but at the end of the day I just went with what fit my budget. Also looking at the 7900 xtx which was only ~$20CAD cheaper than the 4080 super when I was looking. Again, really can't go wrong with any of these cards tho
For anything above $500, I still think that AMD will need to price drop if they want to gain market shares. But it seems like they are not willing to. If I were have to buy a new GPU today, that would be the 4070tiS.
Why? 16gb is nice, 12gb is nice but useless at this point. They show a performance increase because the extra Vram spreads it all a bit so some speed is gained but not enough to justify it. 16gb is good headroom now for future games but by that time newer gen cards will be faster anyways. 16gb now is like a 4090, pure bragging rights that no one cares about.
If you had a graphics card with more memory than 16GB, more VRAM would be reserved than necessary for the same display. The 4060 ti runs on a 128-bit bus. You only have 4 memory chips with 4GB each. The 3070 with 8GB VRAM 256-bit bus with 8 memory chips has better performance in WQHD. Basically, the 4060 ti is more like a 4050, but people who think more VRAM creates better performance don't understand how a graphics card works and why the 16GB version doesn't create any added value in gaming. I seriously hope that people don't buy the graphics card because it's actually a scam.
@@davidigleniec2483 Still very happy with my 3070 8gb. Can run Fortnite Epic ( some settings turned off ) with DLSS, I'm getting around 150fps 1440p ultrawide. When I turn everything on, including Ray Tracing, it's almost unplayable. Launch the game using Razer Cortex which adds quite a few FPS
@@kathrynck When the 5000 series comes out, it will probably be too expensive for the first couple of months, so I might look into getting the 4000 series (get a used one or new if the prices drop) when the 5000 series comes out, but a one generation leap probably isn't worth it, so I will just wait for the 6000 series to come out to get a 5000 series gpu. But the 1440p panel was kinda falling apart... so... I have _reasonably_ high hopes the 4090 will last me till around 2030. Right now it does everything I want it to in raw-native 4k, with max settings - and I still have DLSS to fall back on. And can always actually back off of max settings hehe. I think, that with nvidia's marketing practices... if they release anything significantly better, they will charge significantly more. Which is kinda anti-consumer, but silver lining: it means there's not a lot of point worrying too much about the generation. My _heavily_ used, now 7 year old, 1080 Ti still has market value as a decent 1080p card (without RT), or 1440p with shadows & reflections turned down.
@@jacobkoch8322 The 3080 is still a beast of a card and on par with the 4070. I definitely think you can wait until the 5000 series GPUs or even 6000 GPUs come out or you could go AMD. I built my first gaming rig over black friday 2023. 9 months later, I have zero regrets, I wouldn't change a thing and it has been such a great experience. I haven't had my own PC since high school 2004! (It was a Dell Dimension 8250😂) I always appreciate information from Daniel to make wise decisions. Mahalo! I decided on a 7900xtx and 7800x3d. I wanted longevity. I have zero experience with nvidia, but from the pros and cons at the time I decided not to get the 4090. I am extremely happy with AMD. No cap, as these kids would say today. 😂
That's great that you're happy. I kinda wish I had just went 7800X3D. 7900XTX still is a really great, I think I had some issues mostly from tuning 12th gen Intel not the 7900XTX Merc 310 (really would crank out well 1440P) . 4090 is slightly better but not sure how much it's worth depends on games/budget. If I had to do it over again I'd change the CPU platform but it's worked out a year later after time in the BIOS and ram swaps etc. on all the machines. Going AMD X3D next build though.
Having built my own PCs since the mid 90s I came to a rather similar conclusion to you: 7950X3D and XTX on 3x 27" 1440p165Hz monitors. I'm a software developer with work-from-home privileges, and during the 'rona I upgraded my 1080p60Hz monitors because reading code one them was getting to my eyes. Seeing that the 3090ti already struggles at 4k one generation later I figured "screw it - go overkill on GPU raster performance and don't go to 4k for the foreseeable future".
I did it in 2022, well, not my first build by a long shot, but it's been a while. I got 7900X and 4090. 4090 because I was making the leap from 1440p to 4k, and I was kinda including 'far reaching' longevity in the price comparisons. It does what I want at 4k 'raw native/max', and I still have DLSS to fall back on. 7900X was mostly just because of a sale that was too good to pass up. Apart from an opportunistic sale, I would be torn between 7950X and 7800X3D (as I have mixed use). Really I needed newer mobo features even more than I needed a new cpu, so.. the 7900X at $350 with -$30 towards an AM5 mobo & 32GB of free 6000 ram is hard to regret. I have both very _slightly_ underclocked and very significantly undervolted. And the card very very securely mounted/supported, and cord in extra tight. 7800X3D & 7900XTX is probably smarter. You can probably bench very nearly as strong, with a cheaper build than mine. Granted the 7800X3D was just a rumor when I built mine and I do think the 4090 has strong odds on lasting an extra generation (in terms of back-loaded value). I could see myself replacing my 7900X cpu much sooner than the 4090. Was kinda thinking the 9800X3D, but the 9000 series seems like a flop. Seriously though, 7800X3D/7900XTX is a beastly combo, good pick!
According to Tim at Hardware Unboxed, Star Wars: Outlaws has now created a problem for 12GB GPUs with texture popping and aliasing problems. Ironically, it's an nVidia title so it's clear that Jensen knew exactly what he was doing when he limited almost all but the very top GeForce cards to 12GB or less.
I'm thinkin. I got a 7800x3d, and i wanna upgrade from 6700 xt to 7900 GRE. I'd maybe go with a 4070 super, but damn is it more expensive in EU. Palit Dual fan 4070 Super is 655 euro, and the ASUS TUF 7900 GRE is 649 euro, but also got that extra 4 gb of VRAM. Any 3-fan 4070 super is at the minimum around 750 euro
If I was dropping a grand on a GPU and still has to use upscaling for playable frame rates I would not be happy. Better buying mid-high as you are more likely to not mind using upscaling and wait for the next gen at least.
Well, used 4070 Tis are going for around 600€ where I live, so that would actually be a better purchase than the 4070 Super at 600-650€. Also the 4070Ti Super goes for 900€+ around here in Europe which is pretty insane. (4080Super >1100€)
i got the Gigabyte GAMING OC rx 7600 from amazon on a good discount a few months ago, great card as an upgrade from the rx580 2048 and even older r9 390x. i was using
Upgrading my ryzen 5 1600 and gtx 1060 this week (will always love this duo it was amazing.) to r5 7600x and rx 6800. Mainly for 1080p 144hz gaming and sometimes plugged onto tv for tekken fifa kart games etc for fun. Is this combo good enough? Should I upgrade or change something ? Note that 7700xt is 100€ more than the 6800 thats why i wont go for it
Seems like prices are quite bit better over in the States. Here in my country, every graphics card costs at least $60 more, so a 6600 costs $240 and 7600 costs $300. I built my PC 4 months ago, still haven't bought a GPU and have been using an old GT 1030 that I had lying around. Tried going the used route but prices there aren't much better and graphics cards are seldomly listed anyways. I'll wait till next sale to see if prices go down enough to be under my budget. I can't just buy something I know isn't worth the money and these GPU's aren't.
Did you include taxes in those prices? Americans usually don't. And at least in the EU companies usually convert 1 usd to 1 eur, that's 10% increased cost from the get-go.
@@damianich4824 You're probably right, 10-20% tax brings the price closer, I guess the GPU market globally is inflated. Fun fact: I once saw a RX7600 go for $240, it never dropped below $300 since, regret not buying it at that time ;)
Ive got a 4070ti super i got earlier this year. It runs games amazingly and it will do for years to come however when they release the next gen Gpu's if there are some crazy features and i want one ill probably wait a year or so for a good deal or what not but im in no rush to buy any new Gpu and as for anyone with a high end card you should just keep it until the next gen or the next next gen
Just Buy Used.. Graphics cards are like cars at this point, even just putting them in you'r computer halfs their price. You can cop a 3070 for like below 200 if you are willing to take a small risk with a mining card. if you'r not willing to take one that's been mined on then they are about 250. I went with one that was extremely haggard with 1 broken fan and its still working 2 years since i bought it
Mining cards being bad is a myth, purile hog wash. Mis treated cards fail due to dmg, mining was a business for many and they took care of their investments knowing they would have to sell off older to buy newer. Mining cards are just fine, just disassemble, clean and repaste/re-pad then enjoy. Only abused cards are bad and most of those abused beat up cards are from gamers not miners. Overclocking nonsense and choked off H500 cases, full tempered glass fronts and crap like that.
i've recently been seeing 6950xt's for 500usd on amazon, as well as waterblocked 6900xt's for 370 in my market. I was able to get a xfx merc 6800xt for 430, huge card though. Also Nvidia is implementing GDDR6 opposed to GDDR6X on concurrent 4070's starting today August 20th. As per GN it's not clear whether new naming will be implemented, but something current buyers need to know about.

The i-9 A.I or the xtxTitan version?
What about the Intel ARcTX a7700xti super?

Or a ATI max AGP

Might've have worked for the bathroom mirrors in a level back then, but not now in an open world.
right like gta 5 mirrors vs alan wake 2 mirrors i was shoked to see mirrors not refletecting anything in alan wake without rt.
@@SogonD.Zunatsu you assume every game releasing now is open world but that's very far from the case
Still the mirror trick only work in small interiors, but can't be systematically be applied to all reflective surfaces, which aren't all mirrors.
@@SogonD.Zunatsu it can be applied to A LOT but yeah not every reflective surface. That would be extremely demanding
Screen Space Reflections are starting to be added to general reflections which are amazing at reflections and there's still zero raytracing and they're very easy to run. Although I still think every mirror should be the old camera technique since it works, looks even better than SSR and will be used in pretty few instances (not a whole lotta mirrors in one place in any game) so it's not much demand
I just purchased an AMD 7800XT for my first ever PC and just so happened to get 4 games. I'm happy with my purchase without the games alone.
I was looking at that bundle today and I don't believe it actually goes through the end of August. 😢

7900gre is a better alternative to 6900xt/6950xt.
Better power efficiency, RT, longer support, avi enconding.
Nice find and well done on refreshing it !
6950xt is a great card and if you can grab one for cheap it's not a let down.

Same here. But i know that my 8 Go VRAM wont make sense in 9-12 months. Ao i wait for the 5080 Super
For me, it was the 7900 XT (AUD$1099) vs the 4070 Super (AUD$950 - $1049). I was upgrading from the 6700 XT. I went with an upper tier 4070 Super, the Gigabyte 4070 Super OC Gaming for (AUD$1049). For that price, I definitely think the extra 8 gb of VRAM is worth going for the 7900 XT but as long as you're happy that is all that matters.

It'll do for 3-4 generations as all Nvidia/AMD cards are. RTX was the exception due to the Ray tracing craze that offered literally nothing. 2000 series cards will be fine till 5000 series pop.
Judging by how demanding modern games are in terms of raw GPU power, I really think it will become a bottleneck sooner than VRAM capacity, especially if we talking about 16GB buffer.
i just got a red devil xtx and it is a monster
@@stangamer1151 The new star wars game can use up to 18-22GB VRAM in 4k already..I dont think its 3-4 years for the 4080 to be at its VRAM limit.
If thats the case it no RT for both cards in the near future. Then I still prefer having more VRAM since I can play modded games with texture mods that far exceed 16 GB already and generally games are not gettign smaller texture-wise.
@@Greenalex89 SW Outlaws is NOT essentially using 18-22GB. It is just allocating all the available VRAM on a card (this is how Snowdrop engine functions)
More important is the fact that this and many other modern games are very demanding in terms of raw GPU power.
So....basically you're just recommending every card at every price point.
7900 GRE is a gift that keeps giving
15:34 "but if you can't stretch that butt" 😂🤌
Just bought a 7900xtx before seeing this video, I play in 4k, make me feel better
Great video. Thanks Daniel!
Went with a 4070 ti super since the 7900 xt was $50 more at the time in Canada. Really happy with my decision so far 👍
Both are great cards. Its very interesting how much pricing varies by region. a 20GB 7900XT is $690 here in the US and a 16GB 4070 Ti Super is $790.
@@benknapp3787 Here in the UK 4070Ti Super is £780 and the 7900XT is £660.
@@benknapp3787 Exactly! I was very willing to make the change to AMD, but at the end of the day I just went with what fit my budget. Also looking at the 7900 xtx which was only ~$20CAD cheaper than the 4080 super when I was looking. Again, really can't go wrong with any of these cards tho
in europe a 6600 is 210 and the 7600 starts at 269 and the 6650 xt is 249.
Save 20 and get the 6650xt
6650XT is $222 on my european amazon site.
6650XT was on sale for 190€ last week.
@@nipa5961 249 where i live.
I think US pricing is without taxes. In Europe you need to add VAT. 21% in a lot of countries.
Honestly I think the arc a750 is probably the best card under $200.
just picked up the 4080 Super and .... WOW !!! edit: Upgraded from my 4 year old RX 5700 XT so I think I got my $$ out of it.
I just picked up a ryzen 4070 for cheap. Plan to keep it for a long time
W video, btw you should do a video on some good 1440p/4k monitors you would recommend and what to look out for if there deals in the future.
For anything above $500, I still think that AMD will need to price drop if they want to gain market shares. But it seems like they are not willing to. If I were have to buy a new GPU today, that would be the 4070tiS.
Moral of the story.. 3060 (12gb) is an ultimate GOAT
its august 20 and last week i just bought and 7900xtx tachi white edition from microcenter open box for $728.00 best move ive made yet!!!
That is a great deal when the 7900xt alone is 700.
bought the asus 4070ti super and got Wukong as a bundle, i'm super happy with it
After using a chair with a mesh seat, I can't go back to solid or foam.
Do not buy an 8GB vram GPU in 2024. That's insane.
3070 is 8g and it's still decent. But yeah dont buy it new for sure.

I suppose I'll just keep my 3080 until new gpus come out then.
Same here
" ...or longer"
@@kathrynck When the 5000 series comes out, it will probably be too expensive for the first couple of months, so I might look into getting the 4000 series (get a used one or new if the prices drop) when the 5000 series comes out, but a one generation leap probably isn't worth it, so I will just wait for the 6000 series to come out to get a 5000 series gpu. BUT by the time the 6000 series gpus come out, new games will be more demanding and the 5000 series might not be good enough. I'll just keep my 3080 until it breaks I suppose.
@@jacobkoch8322 I kept my 1080 Ti Strix until I decided to go from 1440p to 4k, and I got a 4090. My 1080 Ti did great for 6 years, and frankly it was still doing just fine for 1440p (with no ray tracing).
If I didn't make the change to 4k, I would still be using the 1080 Ti.
I had a 3070ti laptop and I just recently upgraded my PC and I went Team Red and got the 7900XT and I probably won't be going back to Nvidia anytime soon.
RTX 4070 bottom of high-end GPU, or top of mainstream GPU, depending on how you classify. Identical performance to previous RTX 3080, exact match to the AMD RX 6950 XT.
RTX 4070 - normal non-super, no Ti is required (4K? No.. not unless you go insane detail mode).
NVIDIA DLSS On: Quality mode, NVIDIA Image Scaling On: Fullscreen mode* 2 or No Scaling, Ray Tracing On: Performance
When I look at Tom's hardware GPU performance chart, the 7900 XT looks to be priced right. Why the lack of enthusiasm for the card?
7800xt is still by and far the best value card for anyone that just cares about performance, that's a goddamn fact
I think the consensus is the 7900 GRE is much better value in terms of price to performance.
Raster is always the best choice. Awesome PC man!
@@jmangames5562 that's what im noticing, especially as an old man.
My 1080ti still going solid after 7 years ✌
According to Tim at Hardware Unboxed, Star Wars: Outlaws has now created a problem for 12GB GPUs with texture popping and aliasing problems.
It's sad how the rx 6000 series is becoming hard to find. They still have the best value in most price segments.
That Segway to the chair was top notch 😆

Refurbished 3090's are 1K, they aren't too bad honestly. Especially if you want VRam.

I would buy a 6700xt or 6750xt over a 4060 anyday of the week.
