Went to Juneau in summer of 2015 and it was pretty dead in the evenings too. One explanation are the giant cruise ships that dock in Juneau and allow passengers to shop/eat/drink during daytime but the ship leaves in the early evening with its thousands of passengers. Of course, that’s all pre-COVID and many cruise ships to Alaska may not be operating.

I was living in Juneau in the spring-summer of 1983, then again from 1989-1993, working near your college at the Auk Bay Lab. Me and my wife lived downtown. Its fun to see all our old streets. That road he sent you on, is colloquially known as "Gold Creek." I used to go up there for cross-country skiing, until I was told it was an extreme avalanche danger. Its surprising how little has changed there.

You really are the master of picking the right soundtrack, whatever the situation or environment, I just find it so spot on and evocative, every single time, it really adds something to your videos ... perhaps your decent taste in music helps. If you give this up you should definitely curate documentary & movie scores 👍🏾

Well I am sure I am not the only person to say it but here it goes any way! Alaska looks WAAAY different from the stereotypes I have seen of it in Movies and shows on TV! I thought it was rustic cabins and basic ugly trailers and wood shed type structures like in Antarctica! Just basic.. You know, to protect against the 24/7 winters that never end? Like in 30 days of night horror movies lol! I am WOWed! This place has architecture like in MAINE! So pretty and a mix of modern and old and some basic rustic. What a total surprise! If it wasnt for the pandemic I would visit Alaska now that I know it is not just sparse military type/worker camp type basic trailer communities, and rustic cabins in the woods(I love those though btw lol). It looks like Maine! I do not think I could swim the clear streams and lakes and rivers like I have dreamed though.. seems it is cold year round right? I am from Puerto Rico where the sun is most of the time out and the waters are warm(beaches), and crisp cool(streams and rivers) and the air is a cool breeze mixed with heat.. Total opposite of Alaska lol! I had an ex-girlfriend/hook up that moved from FLA USA to ALASKA and I always pictured here living up there in a rustic cabin with no water or electric and just her dogs and herself and lots of snow and woods.. Not me.. To visit and then come back to the warm and sun, ok.. But this here town?! This is like what Brunswick Maine looks like! Nice!! Yeah.. I am a military brat, so that is how I know Maine, being from Puerto Rico.. Alaska.. I need to see more Alaska, this is not the arctic wasteland/Pretty woods with rustic life I was expecting!!

Juneau is definitely worth a visit and if you are not planning on returning to Alaska, combining Juneau with Anchorage, Denali and Seward could be a good use of your time. ... Cordova is closer to Anchorage than Juneau, but definitely "off the beaten path" since you must fly or take the ferry there.
