We don’t have dogs anymore, but this would have been an awesome way to hide the dog crates. Excellent design and execution. BTW, I see nothing wrong with doing a little belt sanding to make things fit. It’s just a way to fix a problem. Before belt sanders, woodworkers used a plane to make it fit, and nobody thought that was something to poke fun at. Your design sense (influenced by your sister) is spot on, and your builds perfectly done. You are one amazing woodworker!
🤯 Blown away! 🤯 But seriously, it's beautiful done and not only do you build it but you do all the extra work of showing/sharing how to build such awesome things. Thank you for being such an inspiration to not only young people but to all of us of all ages. Thank you once again for the great video(s).
Thanks so much for watching! Half the work is building and half is sharing haha 😅 I always appreciate when people enjoy the work I put into it. I hope I’m able to inspire others to DIY and build their own stuff. That’s the goal 👍😄
I just made six drawers and didn't have a clue what kind of cabinet i wanted. Now i know. Thanks allot. Lets hope i'm as skilled as i think i am. Yours came out great.
Beautiful!! all the other dogkennel builds are square with blackwash or white.. i like this very much! if youtube still had their star system it would be 5/5!
AWESOME. at first I didn't know where you were going with a fireplace/DOG HOUSE Lol. the details really brought it together. cant wait till the next video.
Absolutely beautiful work! I’ve been a subscriber for awhile and have been meaning to tell you how much I appreciate you taking the time to do these detailed videos! You are a badass and the fact you provide FREE plans to everything is mind boggling! Seriously thank you for what you do and keep making great content!
Thanks so much!! I provide most plans for free, but some are paid plans. I try to keep a happy medium. Thanks for watching and for your encouragement and support! It means a lot!
Couldn't agree with you more i never build face frame on anything love the look. This gave me an idea for a safe I need to cover up keep up the good work...
Not my style but I have two crates that sit side by side for two small dogs and this is an absolutely great idea. Been looking at those crates for years. Thanks for the wonderful idea. Bill
@@WoodshopDiaries Hi Shara! Just watched the other crate video. Really good. I made a large ottoman for the living room and used drawer slides on it similar to what you did but the top is split in half right down the middle and is normally closed. I think I would have gone with no slides on this project and instead have used very small casters. I think you can get them at harbor freight. They basically are an enclosed ball bearing. since the top is trapped from moving sideways, putting a few of the little casters (about 3/4" high) in the proper spots to roll on the top slats would allow the top to move easily and not ever show the glide rails. Just a thought. Good job. My crates are basically where the dogs do their "business" and sit on top of a large vinyl covered base to prevent any "overflow" from getting on the floor. LOTs of PeePads. Regards, Bill
"But it added a little bit more detail and dimension...and work." Pretty much sums up most of my building projects. 🤣 Awesome build. Looking to do something similar for our pooch, so seeing this gives me even more ideas.
That sister sure knows how to make trouble. 😉 Although she was right. That came out awesome. I love how incredible your projects are with a simpler build process. Other videos with advanced techniques are great to watch and learn from but for someone new like me it's nice to know it's possible to make quality things in a simpler process. Thanks. 😁👍
Hi Shara, that came out beautiful. I do wish you would tell us how you really feel about face frames though. All the extra work looks like it was worth it. You should be proud (just don't tell your sister. FAMILY RIGHT).Another great job.🙂
😂😂 LOATHE!! Haha! Thanks so much! It was worth it in the end, but 100 degree weather and face frames make my patience super thin 😅😂 my sister is happy, so I guess all is good 😉
Thank you! Haha yeah this one was a little out of the norm 😅 but don’t worry...the boots will be back soon! The weather is finally starting to get a little cooler 🙌🙌
New to your channel but found the commentary in this particular video very charming when you didn't try to hide your opinion about the trim and face frames, your subscriber count just bumped up one.
Thank you! I know it makes a noticeably better finished project but I really do hate those tedious details 😂😂 not going to lie about it. Glad you appreciated my rants 😅
Really fantastic work, Shara! It really turned out beautiful! 😃 That's going to be a happy dog! Or at least it's better be! 😂 Anyway, stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Thanks so much!! I honestly think he’s a happy dog no matter where he’s hanging out. I just kind of hope he’s a little happier now, but who knows 😂 Thanks for watching and you stay safe, too!
Woooooow You are amazing!!! This Forniture is beautiful!!!! I will try to do something like that!!! Congratulations for your Channel!! I definitely subscribe !!! K from Mexico !!
I enjoyed it as always. Beautiful, interesting and, at the same time, strange work. My dog would not live in furniture))). I don't even know what to expect from you next time))) Maybe a roost for chickens in a bookcase?
@@WoodshopDiaries Although you're not a fan of molding work, you did a great job. One bit of advice, that moment that you shot a brad into the small piece of crown on the wrap-around, try CA glue. It's instant and most of all, safe for small pieces like that. Looking forward to the next build.
New subscriber! I am also a woodworker and love watching builds come together, especially by women.. I always learn something new. Like cremone bolt latches - - where did you buy that from? Everywhere I look they are crazy expensive--I went to your page but the link showed them unavailable. Awesome work! - - I am going through your vids little by little 😁
The link in my blog post is the one I purchased. I got it on amazon. They are very expensive, I agree! I think this one was $30. I guess they’re sold out now maybe? You can google Cremone bolt and find them somewhere I’m sure...but no where cheap 😅🙈 I appreciate you following along and thank you so much for subscribing and watching. I truly appreciate it!
Hello do you use a router table? Its a great way to add character to any piece. You are really talented. I enjoy your channel. When you get more views and get sponsored will you be doing your own commercial like segments for your sponsors? What youtubers do you watch?
@@WoodshopDiaries I watch a lot of wood working Videos and you will get there. I can tell, I enjoy your videos. They are good and simple. Your tone is good and just enough content to keep people interested. You don't use 1000$ machines and say its a simple build. Keep up the great work. Exhale someone will reach out soon.
You could remove the top drawer, and just make the middle section a little bigger in both directions (this was built with similar dimensions as a “large” dog crate, so it wouldn’t be THAT much different for an XL)
The video looks great to me but I am no video snob. I was curious about why you use Gorilla glue instead of Tightbond, is there a reason or is it just what you happen to have?
Everyone has an argument, but I prefer gorilla wood glue (note it’s WOOD glue and not just gorilla glue) because when it dries, it’s almost clear vs titebond which dries yellow. It makes finishing easier if I missed wiping away any squeeze out. People tell me it’s not as strong, but I’ve never had any issues with it and it bonds quicker, too.
@@WoodshopDiaries You should totally keep those in.
