    You can tip your table saw blade all the way to 45 then set the depth very low. Make some practice cuts on scrap. It will leave you the ship lap effect without having to buy and glue more wood

      I’m glad you like it. It took me a little bit of time to perfect it. You can make the cuts uniform by starting in the center. Then move the fence to the space of gap you want. Say 2” move fence run board through the saw, flip it end for end , run it again. Move it 2” again run, flip run, perfect spacing every time

    Dude this is beautiful. Really wish I'd seen your video before I started building my enclosed litter box for my cat 🤦‍♂️. I'm building more though so I'm definitely going to adapt some of your design features into my next one. Fantastic video, man. Looking forward to more. Keep it up 👍

    I’m going to make one. How does your pup like it today, a few years later. My girl arrived fully crate trained, we have kept the training in place. She is 10. At age 3.5 we took a trip, her travel crate got destroyed on the trip, it took 8 weeks for the wooden crate I ordered to come as a replacement. The day it arrived, as I sat assembling it, she was so anxious and the second it was up, she shot in it. 2nd travel crate just broke so I’m making your crate for my lake house. Thank you!

      It is her safe place, she loves going to it every night to stretch out and rest! Thank you

    Pine huh? I'm thinking of using hardwood myself. I was originally going to either use mortise and tenon or dovetail joints, but pocket holes seem to do the job just fine. I may add drawers to mine as well as recessed roller wheels, but I'm not certain yet. That's a nice kennel you've built. I would probably sand and stain each piece before assembly though. I see you painted yours outside of the tabletop, so I can understand why you didn't.

      Sorry for the late response, life happens and time doesn’t stop. I knew our pup was going to chew on it so I wanted to make it as nice as I could for as cheap as I could. Once she gets through the puppy phases I’ll more then likely build her a (forever kennel) lol. Thanks again and good luck with your build.

    Nicely done my friend. Thanks for sharing. we liked it, so we gave you the thumbs up, subbed as well. Keep us posted, how are you liking the kennel. You have had it for a while now, would you do anything different, etc. Thanks again and have a blessed and happy fathers day weekend. We will be starting one soon and I will more than likely do a video on it as well. Again, thanks for sharing and have a blessed weekend.

      Thanks for the kind words, life has been so busy lately with my primary job. The kennel is so functional and Bella is almost a year old now and loves it. Going through the puppy phases it doesn’t look the same on the inside, from chewing haha. I wouldn’t change a thing about it however. Good luck with your build.

    I see at the end of the video that you created a divider obviously for crate training purposes. Can you please tell me what you made it with and how you keep it securely in place? We’ve had our goldendoodle for two months now. He’s almost five months old now and weighs almost 40 lbs. Our vet thinks he’s going to be a good 70-75 lbs. I started building a kennel for him and noticed your divider that you have.

    • @rickscott8676
      @rickscott8676  4 роки тому

      Yeah it sounds like your pup will be a big boy! I built the divider out of the same pine boards. I made it to fit tight in the kennel so I could move it where we needed during the training period. Our girl didn’t use it much but the time she did she never attempted to push through it. You could always secure the divider with two small blocks of wood on either side of the divider, attach them to the underneath side of the top. Enjoy

    Where did you purchase the bars? Is that something you can find at a hardware store ? Or a home improvement store? Do you need to purchase from someplace special?

      I recommend looking at a size chart on google. It’s recommended to not make the kennel to large but just big enough they can stand and turn around in. Hope this helps.

      Yeah I’m more a hobbyist wood worker/youtuber. Been so busy lately with my primary job I haven’t got to load anything in a while. I spend roughly $200 in materials for the kennel. I just went with southern pine since I knew my puppy would chew on it. Boy has she chewed a ton on it also haha. Thanks

      @@rickscott8676 You're welcome.
      Wanted to add something to my previous comment when I saw your thank-you reply, for which I thank you😊. Please do not take offense, but I immediately noticed you have what I believe is bare fiberglass insulation on the wall.. I remember tucking that insulation on the wall b4 covering it with drywall... The fibers would stick to my arms, etc, and were painful. More importantly, they're tiny, probably microscopic, and would get into the lungs... I'm pretty sure I wore a mask( and so did my helper( actually I was his helper😀). You're better off covering the fiberglass even with thin particleboard. I'm a hobbyist at best ( not an expert by any stretch of the imagination). Take care now-- and thanks again.
