EaW mods have always been relatively fantastic. They put good effort into them it's just great. Me personally, wish a mod could just remove ground battles and add the clone wars era onto of the traditional civil war. I'd love try advance from the republic to the post endor empire. Although I also wouldn't complain if they found a stable way of just removing the pop cap entirely.
I think two of the main things that make me play AotR often are the scale / detail the SW universe and the opposing faction AI. These make it engrossing and the gameplay strategically complex, which is basically the intricate and long-term SW experience I am looking for. If you let your guard down on the highest difficulty, the Empire, the Black Sun or the Rebellion will definitely kick your butt all over the galaxy. It's a little maddening that the game is so old and with that all the limitations, but the mod group put so much into it that I don't care.
Still watching and I think this was one of the mods I slept on, but funnily enough there /are/ land units with target-able weak points, the rebels get a super-tank that can run over vehicles in the Forces of Corruption expansion
What I like Empire at War is not just the crazy Space battles. But, the cinematic camera. I LOVE IT! This way I’m able to create my own space battles from how I see them. I recently did a battle of Coruscant video. :)
Personally, the Empire at War Expanded series (Fall of the Republic and Imperial Civil War) are my favorites. Also, the team is working on an Old Republic style mod for EAW called Revan's Revenge.
There's a lot of good mods for this game, but AotR is my go-to. Nails the balance of depth (things like unit roles and fleet compositions matter if you want to find optimal strategies), variety (all 3 factions have multiple viable strategies you can mix and match so the game stays fresh through multiple campaigns), but also simplicity (it's much lower maintenance and easier to learn than other mods like Thrawn's Revenge).
I definitely agree, though I do feel like the empire could have just a tiny bit more anti fighter capability. Also I personally feel as if ISDs need a cost reduction or a slight buff, They are a huge investment early game and definitely aren't the hardest to take out.
@@colonelsanders7351 nah, I actually really like the current balance of the Empire with its anti-fighter capabilities, by the end game it’s actually really strong with Lancers, Raiders, and Defenders, and the balance really stresses the importance of advancing tech levels and building balanced fleets. The economy is probably the area that needs the most tweaks, but an ISD cost buff doesn’t make much sense to me, if you want to buff early game Imperial economy, I think it makes more sense to just make them start with better infrastructure. My least favorite part of Imperial campaigns is how long it takes to get set up while also dealing with attacks on all sides.
@@Zade_95 thanks! It’s a new RTS made by the guys behind Homeworld Deserts of Kharak. Very heavily inspired by Starcraft and Generals, for better and for worse
If the mod's wiki is up to date I'm disappointed by the ships added to the game. Specifically my three favorite ships introduced in Rebellion (The CC-7700 Intrdictor Frigate, the CC-9600 Frigate, and the Dauntless class Heavy Cruiser.) are all missing.
@@blackburn1489 Hmm I can see missing the Dauntless since I was looking at the Rebel/New Republic space units list and its in the Special section not the regular Capital section . Not sure how I managed to miss the CC-7700 though.
is there some programs to make this game run better or is there not much you can do. My specs is 11th gen I7 GTX3070 all drives SSD? amazing game and mod
I got back to aort now with the new update...and ofc a noob with less than 200 hours in the game is going to play expert with a faction he knows nothing about. This is going as well as one would expect with me being hammered to a bulp yet somehow managing to cheese my way out of situation, though it definitely needs balance in certain things..like the bomber spam you can do for far cheaper than an actual capital ship and being able to take out dreadnought huge class ships without using any big ships yourself. Other than that pretty fun, head melts after a few hours of thinking and strateging
NEWS FLASH: Recently watched announcement the Final Fantasy Tactics AND Tactics Ogre, two really great TBC tactical games from the 90s are being remade on Unreal 5 engine. Saw some of the graphics and they are awesome. Almost as awesome as your channel(s).
a good alternative to this mod is using the (rise of palpatine) to cover clone wars and (battlefront commander) for the civil war these are both much more chill and easier to learn and play battlefront commander is still in beta but even in beta it offers heaps and heaps of variety of units and hero's even including kota and thrawn even 501st storm troopers purge troopers kota's militia and like I said so so much more
Your videos are getting shorter. Is this a coincidence? I kinda start feeling you've run out of things to say? What about Universe at War, for example? Beyond All Reason? Or am I just getting impatient? I probably am.
There's certainly no shortage of things to talk about, trust me! Last few months have just been very busy and I don't want to go months without a video (even if it's just a short one)
Thanks for giving us some coverage, the more you get into AotR, the more rewarding it becomes and the harder it is to play other mods
I both love and hate your mod, I feel like I lose 80% of my battles then suddenly steamroll. I've played through it once a month for 2 years
Mad respect to the people behind such massive overhauls.

I've gotten so used to AOTR that the origional game is completly alien to me for a lack of a better word
There actually are hardpoints in ground units in base EAW. Garm bel Iblis' vehicle can have its turrets blown out

keep up the work!
I will, thank you!
Some old games just got announcement for their sequels (Space Marine 2). I'm so ready for Petroglyph Games to make a sequel for this game.
I know right. I know they're working on something right now...
AotR is my favorite EaW mod hands down, remake, FotR, TR and PR are all great as well, but AotR is the one I put the most time in when I play EaW.

Hey Zade, have you considered checking out Crossfire Legion? It’s still early access, but I feel it’s worth taking a look at
